Kai'sa flew out of the portal and straight into the scorching heat of the desert. She navigated her way around the dusty and arid Shuriman deserts, surveying the surroundings for any sight of the village.

'No signs of the village here…', Kai'sa thought to herself as the only note-worthy things were massive dunes and the familiar wildlife roaming about the Shuriman desert.

But the neverending repetition of the same environment started to frustrate Kai'sa as she increased her speed. She lost count of how many dunes she passed, how much distance she had covered and ultimately, how little she had uncovered about the village's position.

Kai'sa gritted her teeth in frustration, the vast and barren desert became a disorientating maze that she had no idea how to navigate. The blistering heat mocked the latter for her incompetence in finding the village, which made Kai'sa's patience run thinner the moment she laid her eyes landed on another dune.

The two men croaked, drawing the attention of Kai'sa as she suddenly remembered why she brought these two along. The flight came to a screeching halt, its captain kicking its only two passengers out onto the sands.

"Guide me there", Kai'sa commanded the two men as they gasped, their lungs longing for fresh air. They stared at Kai'sa; the once impervious and formidable foe was now looking at their prey for help.

One of the men started to let out a dry laugh as he lay on the sand, mocking the desperation of Kai'sa. "Y-you'd think we will tell you?", he spat at Kai'sa. The latter kneeled and grabbed their necks, threatening to choke the air out of their lungs as she raised the two.

The duo grabbed onto Kai'sa's arms, trying to break free from the chokehold as they gasped for air.

"K-Kill us and you'll never find out where they are!", one of them yelled which made Kai'sa furrow her brows, before finally releasing them. The duo fell onto the sands once more but this time, with a different expression.

One of them started to laugh, his dry laugh mocking Kai'sa as she stood before them. His partner followed suit, which infuriated Kai'sa. Her claws shook with rage, which she suppressed by balling them into a fist, she could not do anything to her only source of information.

The two men laughed hysterically at helpless, anger-stricken Kai'sa as she stood silently. Hopeless and out of options, she was stuck in the middle of the Shuriman desert with the same scumbags she despised.

The men cackled, ramping up the mockery to trigger Kai'sa even further. "God, imagine what they are doing right now", one of them snickered.

"They're probably having the time of their lives right now, the money we can make from there must be amazing", his partner replied sardonically.

Kai'sa glared at the duo through her visor, her heart pumped with immense anger.

"I don't think it's just the resources", he insinuated the fate of the villagers before looking over at Kai'sa's reaction.

Every muscle fibre in Kai'sa tensed up, her eyes widened, breathing ragged. Her chest became heavier as her imagination started showing her haunting scenes of what could have happened in the village.

"I'd wish I could be there right now!", his partner jeered, basking in the desperation of Kai'sa.

"What did they do to deserve this?", anger seething through every syllable of her words, her claws shaking uncontrollably.

The two men stopped laughing, pondering the question that Kai'sa had just presented.

"I don't know. Bad luck?", he chuckled alongside his partner.

Kai'sa snapped, feral instincts taking control of her body as she pounced at the duo.

Before a buzz interrupted the two parties; The duo stopped laughing and the violet, threatening claws of Kai'sa stopped right before their faces.

"Is this shit online? Hey if you can hear this give me your status report now!", the voice shouted through the vest of the two men.

The device transmitted a voice, which was followed by a deafening silence. They started to feel the atmosphere thicken with regret, and their triumphant expressions slowly morphed into absolute dread, realising what the device meant for Kai'sa.

For Kai'sa, it felt like discovering an oasis.

"W-wait!", one of the men tried to reason with Kai'sa before his vision tumbled, the feeling of his body numbing as his head rolled onto the sand. She grabbed the device within his vest before his body fell onto the sand, his partner tried to report to the device but to no avail.

His arm dropped onto the floor before he could even reach into his vest, with the pain setting in a second later. Kai'sa grabbed the man by his mouth, muffling his scream.

'They won't recognize her voice!', the man thought to himself as Kai'sa fiddled with the device, figuring out the controls before staring the man right into his eyes.

"We're out of the cavern", the man looked at Kai'sa with a bewildered expression.

She imitated the voice of his partner with perfection.

"The fuck took you so long?", the voice scolded.

"We're caught up in some troubles, but it has been taken care of", Kai'sa replied whilst savouring the defeated expression of the captive.

"Hurry the fuck up, we need to wrap this up soon", the voice grumbled, the captive could only let out muffled screams and thrash his legs around as he helplessly watched the scene unfold.

"Mind sending the location of the village? We're kinda in the middle of nowhere right now", Kai'sa requested before hearing the voice of discontent behind the device.

"Huh!? Did that void cavern fry your brain or something? Just check your damn holo device-", the device cut off as Kai'sa started to fidget with the device before she turned the device to the captive.

Showing him the location of the village.

A minute before he felt the most triumphant he had ever been; But now, his partner's blood painted the yellow sands of Shuriman, and the information that gave them the upper hand now served as their judgement.

The depressing, bitter taste of defeat is all he could feel before his vision darkened, and the life from his body drained out slowly and painfully as Kai'sa set him down on the sand before taking flight.

With her prey in sight.

'Shit, how did it get to this…', Aswad swore to himself. His hands and feet were cuffed by solid duranium and with a guard by his side, there was no way he was escaping. Aswad could only grit his teeth as he hopelessly watched his beloved village get taken advantage of by these scumbag pirates.

Aswad was on his way to make offerings to the void when the giant shadows of a ship loomed over him and the village. Minuscule figures spilt out of the ships like ants, quickly making the descent and assaulting many locals fleeing.

The assault lasted less than 15 minutes before full control of the village was assumed by the pirates. They held the locals hostage, ransacking their homes and stalls for resources, plundering everything as they made sure to leave no scraps behind.

Locals were used like slaves, men were forced to carry the resources up to the loading dock whilst women suffered the fate of being subject to harassment from the pirates. Those who did not obey met the fate of having their brains splattered across the sands with their plasma rifles.

"Hey, just got the transmission from the boys", one of the pirates approached the guard with the holo device in his hands, showing their crew's rapid arrival to the village. The guard grinned at the sight before showing the device to Aswad.

"You see this? Looks like the void ain't really that big of a deal after all", the guard mocked. The device showed a dot rapidly approaching them, presumably the pirate's subordinates.

"How long are we gonna keep this guy alive for?", the pirate asked, making Aswad furrow his brow.

"Hm, that's true. Hey, how long more do you wanna live for?", the guard bantered with Aswad before the latter responded with a spit that landed on the guard's face. He stared at Aswad, wiping off the spit with his hand before loading up a punch towards the former.

Aswad squinted his eyes, bracing his face for the oncoming attack. He could feel something dripping onto his abdomen as his clothes felt wet. Aswad opened his eyes slowly, only to find the guard falling onto him.

With a massive hole in the guard's body.

He could make out a winged figure standing in front of the body as it walked towards Aswad, ignoring the terrified pirate that was behind it.

"I-intruder!", the pirate shouted, alerting the crew of the horrific murder that just took place.

Kai'sa perched atop a mountain overseeing the village. Her observations were similar to Aswad's. Kai'sa shuddered in anger before a voice burrowed into her mind.

"So this is what you worked for? To see the sight of your precious humans taking advantage of another?", the voice said cynically. Kai'sa chose to ignore the voice in her head as she scanned the village for any signs of Aswad.

"Looks like the greed and viciousness of humans didn't disappear even after centuries of progress", the voice scoffed, garnering a response from Kai'sa.

"They aren't the ones I'm saving", Kai'sa replied curtly.

"What would you do if he is dead? Would you save the rest of the villagers or not?", the voice challenged Kai'sa as the latter gritted her teeth.

"Shut up", Kai'sa snarled.

"Deep down, you only care for Aswad only, don't you?", the voice continued as Kai'sa finally caught sight of Aswad, snapping her out of the internal conversation with Bel'Veth.

Kai'sa stood up, her wings spreading apart and stood before the edge of the mountain. She readied herself for the fall, taking in a deep breath.

"I'll save all of them, without your powers", Kai'sa said before leaping off the edge. Her wings flapped, causing the wing to ripple around her as she was sent flying towards Aswad's location.

"Oh I'm sure you won't need it, but…", Bel'veth tempted.

"Whenever you do, I'll be here", the Void Empress finished her sentence ominously.

Kai'sa stared at the retreating pirates before tossing the guard's unconscious body off of Aswad. "Aswad, are you okay?", Kai'sa asked as she extended her hand to help Aswad, only to realize that he was restrained.

She made quick work of the cuffs, slicing through the thick duranium cuffs that were on Aswad's hand wrists and legs effortlessly with her claws. "T-thanks, listen you gotta get out-", his words were interrupted by the abrupt death of a pirate.

Kai'sa lowered her void pistol the moment the pirate dropped to the sands. "Rescue the villagers, I'll handle the rest of them", Kai'sa said before dashing towards the advancing forces, leaving Aswad to his own devices.

Taking in a deep breath, Kai'sa spread her wings, sending numerous void bolts towards the pirates. The bolts ripped through the armour and flesh of the pirates, turning the organised attack into a massacre.

Cries of despair and fear rang throughout the village, mangled corpses of pirates littered the sands, and blood splattered all over the pristine yellow sands. Reinforcements kept pouring out of the ships with heavier equipment as they tried to suppress Kai'sa's intense firepower.

The village soon became a battlefield as the two sides returned endless barrages. Kai'sa covered any villagers caught in the crossfire with her body, buying time for their escape.

Kai'sa noticed that the pirates carried peculiar ammunition that inhibits her symbiotic body from healing. She carried on her duty to save the villagers, wincing in pain whenever she felt plasma bolts rain upon her body.

Most of the villagers were able to escape amidst the chaos. The only ones left were held up at the docking bay, which Kai'sa made her next objective. She let loose another barrage of void bolts towards the pirates and flew along with the bolts.

Kai'sa landed right as her void bolts hit their targets. The sudden aggression from Kai'sa surprised the pirates and disrupted their formation.

Kai'sa spun around, sending her massive tail flying towards the armoured pirates. The thick duranium armour seemed like paper as the impact separated their bodies from their legs, ripping their bodies into two.

"K-keep firing!", the remaining pirates opened fire in desperation. Kai'sa materialised her plasma pistols before charging forward at them, piercing their helmet visors with her pistols before opening fire, spreading their brain matter all over the inside of their helmets.

Putting an end to the relentless assault.

The roar of the ship's engine drew Kai'sa's attention, she could spot the remaining villagers fleeing from the docking bay as it slowly closed. With the villagers safe, Kai'sa flew towards the retreating ship to fulfil one last task.

The flames of the ship's thrusters flickered to life as the pirates were en route for takeoff. Kai'sa held the bottom of the ship, preventing it from hovering off the sands.

Her overwhelming strength proved to be too little as the thrusters started to warm up, inching the ship further away from the sands.

"You'd really think you can stop this ship from setting off?", Bel'Veth mocked Kai'sa as her feet were lifted off the sands, the thrusters starting to overpower Kai'sa.

"Shut up!", Kai'sa cursed as her entire existence fought against the ship's thrusters. She groaned in pain, desperately trying to wrestle back control of the ship as Kai'sa squeezed every last bit of strength left in her muscle fibres.

"Stop hesitating, you will be able to fling this ship like a toy with my strength", Bel'Veth tempted Kai'sa again. The latter was so fixated on preventing the ship from taking off she did not even notice Bel'Veth's offer.

The loud sounds of the thrusters rang in Kai'sa's ears. Her vision darted all over the place before landing on the mountain that she was previously on.

An idea started to sprout in Kai'sa's mind.

Kai'sa exerted her entire physical strength to turn the ship. The thrusters were almost fully online, their white-hot flames threatened to burn Kai'sa up to a crisp as she started turning the ship.

"Kai'sa, heed my words", Bel'Veth urged Kai'sa, the ship dragging Kai'sa further away as she was hovering meters above the sands.

"SHUT!", Kai'sa roared viciously as her arms threatened to rip apart from her shoulders.

"THE FUCK UP!", Kai'sa screamed as she turned her hips, exerting the final remains of her strength.

The thrusters came fully online, launching the ship forwards at an awkward angle causing it to crash against the rock formation. Kai'sa tumbled onto the sand, kneeling from pure exhaustion as she witnessed the crash before her, the mountain caved in onto the ship, preventing any take-off attempts.

Her lungs ached for air, her muscles cried in pain and her vision was blurry from the overexertion. Kai'sa barely had any time to relax as she spotted something in the distance, which made her clench her fists.

A ship slowly hovered towards the village.

Author's Notes:

Basileus here. This series took longer than expected to reboot, and I have all the blame to take.

A combination of a lack of confidence in myself to deliver a good piece and the lack of time management between my examinations and my work all led to the 3 years long delay.

I have since been in a better headspace and recently, took back control of my life.

I will be promising a bi-weekly update instead of the old monthly updates.

To all my old followers of this story, I thank you for your patience.

To all my new followers, I hope you will enjoy what I have planned for this story.
