Dina was walking through the forest, pondering in silence.
After a long year food deficit and rising civil unrest the government found a way to deal with the refugees. A large-scale operation to retake wall Maria has been launched. Hundreds of thousands of refugees marched outside the walls in hopes of capturing the land lost to titans.
Dina was angry inside. She wouldn't show it to Eren since the poor boy has been through enough, but in her mind, she was furious. What kind of ruler sends his people to certain death? They had neither knowledge nor technology to deal with titans that swarmed the inside of the wall Maria.
The king of the walls took his people's memories and trapped them here. 'In what name' Dina thought. This pathetic pacifist that called himself a king didn't even use his powers to deal with the attack. Instead, he was hiding somewhere behind wall Sina, waiting for his people's extinction. Dina wasn't having any of that. The king had to be dealt with.
She tried to gather some information from the military policemen while she was working on the agricultural wastelands, but they didn't know anything. One information she was certain of was that the king known to the public was only a figurehead. About a month ago a few higher ups came to the land to oversee the refugees working. She volunteered to serve wine, and when the MPs were drunk enough, one of them slipped up and said something about having to help the real king with some endeavour.
'If there was a real king, there would have to be a fake king as well' Dina thought. That made her objective more difficult, but she would get there eventually.
The other thing she was worried about were the warriors of Marley. It was obvious they were the ones behind the attack. The colossal titan and armoured titan had to be hiding among the people. With them on the loose, Dina's goal was even harder since they were after the same thing. She had to be careful with others.
She thought about her little trio. Eren, Mikasa and Armin were good kids. It's been rough for them to work on the agriculture, but she tried to help as much as she could. She needed some people she could trust. She couldn't repeat the same mistakes.
'Zeke…' Dina thought as she reached a clearing. She looked up. The clouds covered the whole sky, with no sight of sun. The winds were whirling some old-world tune against the tall trees. The fall was just starting, and she could already feel some withered leaves on the ground. The beautiful colour of orange and yellow was everywhere to be seen.
Dina heard the first thunder. The storm was in the air, and it was exactly what Dina needed. As she was discarding her cloak, something you definitely shouldn't do in front of a storm, she heard the first droplets of rain fall to the ground.
Puddles started forming on the ground as the rain was becoming more intense. Standing in the rain Dina took out a knife. According to what she knew and some glimpses of memories she saw in her dreams, this was the way to go.
As she heard a second thunder, she brought the knife's blade to her open palm.
This was the moment of truth.
'Focus Dina' she thought to herself 'do it for Grisha, do it for your people…'
'Do it for Eren' that was her last thought before she sliced the blade right through her hand.
A huge thunder erupted from her spot, as the immense energy was released from her. She felt numb as she was engulfed with bones and flesh of a newly forming body. It was almost comforting. There was some unknown factor, some weird feeling she experienced as her arms and legs appeared out of thin air. It felt funny. Something sardonic or amusing. She couldn't help but smile. Smile at the absurdity of the king, smile at the absurdity of history, smile at everything that put her into this mess.
As the fumes from the transformation began to fall, she opened her eyes. Something inside wanted her to run away, but she knew she had a job to do. An important job. She couldn't quite tell what the job was, but she knew it had to be something she had to do right away.
She looked at the tall trees which didn't seem so tall anymore. She took a stretch and prepared a kick. As she launched her leg into the air, a row of trees was sent flying upon the hit. She needed more than that. Tree after tree was torn up its roots as Dina went on with her mission.
Finally, after a few minutes she came upon a tree which was huge even for her standards. She launched kick after kick with hopes of tumbling it down, but to no avail.
'I'll break you!' Dina thought
'I'll destroy you!' She continued with the kicks.
'You'll be sorry you made me who I am!'
With the last kick the tree tumbled down. Dina looked with a smile at what she's done. She looked down at her leg.
Suddenly Dina regained her consciousness. She was kicking so hard that her leg was barely usable. The skin and muscle tore due to the powered kicks and she was barely standing up.
'What am I doing?' She thought to herself. Dina looked towards all the damage she caused. Rows of trees were laying among the rubble. She was lucky the storm was intense, and no one heard the noise.
She began levelling the ground to cover her footprints. As she did, a large puddle of water was forming in place of the clearing.
'Might as well try to create a pond' Dina thought as she began her work.
Few hours later the rain died down, and the clouds began to scatter. As the sun shone again Dina could tell it was late. Rays of setting sun illuminated against the artificial lake she created. Some birds landed on the opposite cost. Dina looked towards the lake.
She finally saw her titan form. It was definitely the female titan, fifteen-metre tall with her light blonde hair and what appeared to be breasts, a feature unusual among other titans. Dina felt a bit uneasy with that knowledge, after all she was a married lady once. But the weirdest of her features was the huge smile plastered on her face.
It looked disturbing to put it lightly. She wasn't sure what caused the grin. Maybe there was something wrong with the serum? Or maybe it was the effect of staying so long in a pure titan form?
Dina never thought much about her long slumber. If the dates here were correct, it would mean she had been a pure titan for thirteen years.
'Zeke must be so old' Dina thought as she felt the fatigue take hold of her.
She thought about exiting her form. Momentarily fumes ejected from her and she felt her control over the titan body slipping away. In a few seconds she was back on the ground. She watched as her titan form disappeared into thin air.
'Well, that's a force to be reckoned with' Dina thought as she looked at the fallen trees.
As she started walking towards the civilization, she pondered on the recent events.
Because of the operation to retake wall Maria, less food was needed, and she could slip away from her agriculture duties without anyone noticing. Earlier today she told Eren and Mikasa she'd be back by midnight, but they would naturally worry, since she went to the forest despite the coming storm.
Spending time with Eren felt weird for Dina. He reminded her of Zeke so much that it almost felt uncanny.
Suddenly she walked into a meadow covered with beautiful flowers. A swirl of colours filled her view. Lilacs, chamomiles, and daisies were covering the ground.
'Maybe I'll make a flower crown for Mikasa with these?' Dina thought as she began picking the flowers.
It felt so peaceful here. She wished she could stay here forever. She wished Grisha and Zeke were here with her. She wanted them to experience the same peace.
As she was picking the flowers, a quiet sob could be heard on the meadow.
