Chapter 8

Snow fell quietly upon the land, coating the huts, fields, and trees in a white splendor. The lakes and ponds have long frozen over, animals in a winter's slumber or flown south for the season. All in all, it was calm, quiet, peaceful. No one dared travel in such weather, save for a lone figure hurrying to the hut where she stayed with her parents.

Moroha had secured a deal with the futon merchant earlier in the day. With a sack full of rabbit pelts and enough money, with instruction not only from her father but also some advice from Miss Sango, the quarter demon was able to purchase the perfect one. The futon maker, while at first hesitant in doing business with a child with demon features, quickly changed his mind upon hearing who her parents were. Apparently, her mom and dad were very well known, and a few times had saved the village in which the maker resided. He even threw in a beautiful silk blanket- made from a rare demon spider silk (Moroha had indeed confirmed it true with a few sniffs), in beautiful spring colors of white, blue, and green. Plus, it was very durable- she even tested it with her claws and was satisfied. It was a thank you gift, one Moroha accepted on her parent's behalf.

She was pleased with herself! All the hunting, skinning, and bounty hunting had paid off. Her dad would be proud too, no doubt.

Curled in a hooded Kuma pelt, she smelled the area picking up the fresh scent of snow and little else and started to sprint home. At the rate she went, she'd be home in no time.

Her mother was now over 6 months along. She was now officially on leave from her duties until further notice. Even with her hearing she now could pick up the two heartbeats of her siblings, even seen them throw a few kicks now and then. According to Sango and her Aunt Rin, it'd probably be at least a few more moons before her mother gave birth. Her dad got more protective and irritable closer to the birth, her mother also. It made for some entertaining arguments.

She felt bad for mom, but also for her dad. Both had famous tempers and had resulted in seeing her dad faceplanted for the first time. The shinhanyou mentally cringed at the image of her dad, wondering how much that must've hurt him. But after that, her mom suddenly started crying and apologizing for her temper and uncontrollable mood swings. They thankfully always made up, sometimes when she was present, sometimes not….

'Seriously?! Come on, no kid needs to see that!' She groaned after one such incident.

Her mother and father looked over, both flushed. 'Sorry Moroha.' Not looking the least bit apologetic sitting in her husband's lap.

'Don't you have someplace to be, pup?' Her father embraced his pregnant wife.

'Sure! Just let me go dive in the nearest river and erase what I just saw!' The teenager had a fleeting glimpse of where her father's hand had been-not something she EVER wanted to see!

After screaming dramatically, the pup left the swelling in a hurry, hearing the faint laughter of her parents.

She shivered at that memory. "Permanently scarred for life. Thanks, mom. Thanks, dad." She mumbled. Landing in a sturdy tree, she got her bearings and looked in the direction of the village. In her father's forest she knew the place well. It was much darker than usual, not only due to the snowy weather but also the new moon.

She knew her cousins would be with their parents tonight since it was their human night. Towa had once confided in her that having a safe place to wait out the night, especially with having her parents back, was so comforting it brought tears to the hanyou's eyes.

Nodding, she headed towards her own haven of safety where her parents waited. Nearing the hut, she felt something was off but couldn't figure it out. The fire was burning, the cooking of boar and simmering vegetables, her mother and unborn siblings resting…. but her dad…

Going in, she took off her coat, shook any remaining snow off and hung it up to dry. Heading to the fire, she immediately froze.

"What the hell?!" She screeched.

The strange man looked up, confused at her reaction. He had a log and was making to snap it in half.

"Who the hell are you?!" She reached for her sword. "You better get the hell out before my dad comes home!" She harshly growled, "I'm warning you- you don't want to mess with me! Or this family! You didn't hurt my mom, did you?! I will surely make you sorry, you bast-"

A swift thump to her head immediately silenced her. She groaned, holding her head in agony. She narrowed her eyes at the man.

"Who you think you're talking to, brat!?" Her eyes widened at the voice. "Stop yelling and use your nose for a damn second."

A few sniffs confirmed her suspicions. "D-Dad?!" She stammered. "Is that you?!"

"No, I'm a talking puppet." He replied sarcastically, sitting back down.

She robotically knelt beside him, still in shock. Long, black hair- the same shade as hers, replaced his normal silver mane. No dog ears adorned his head, but regular human ears. His eyes, usually gold and bright like the setting sun, were a stormy grey. And she could guess his fangs and claws were gone too.

Then she realized. Of course! Her dad was hanyou, same as her cousins! If they had one night of losing their demon powers, so would her dad. Boy, was she dense!

They both looked up when they heard Kagome coming from the other room, she must've been resting. "Moroha, please don't harm your father, at least not tonight" She giggled.

InuYasha immediately got up to help his wife. "She was damn close to pulling her sword."

"I…I'm so sorry dad." Her whole demeanor changed to one of shame.

Kagome, who now nestled in her husband's firerat, remarked at how much she looked like a guilty puppy. Keeping that to herself, she said, "Don't beat yourself up, darling. It's not the first time one has reacted to InuYasha's human night."

"And it won't be the last." The hanyou now human added. "I must admit, seeing you so fierce in defending this house and your mother, I felt a surge of pride." He reached out to ruffle her hair. "Your growl needs work though. "

"Harrumph!" Moroha turned away, embarrassed. It sounded like her dad wasn't too bothered by her outburst. He wasn't angry at her. "I still should've known though." She mumbled.

"Moroha…" Her brown eyes met her mothers'. One hand went to her husband's knee, the other supporting her pregnant belly. "Don't blame yourself. If anything, I should've asked you sooner if you knew."

InuYasha remained silent, comforted by his wife's touch.

"Your father doesn't like to talk about it." Her hand instinctively started rubbing his knee. "His human night is a very touchy subject."

"Yeah, when Towa, and eventually Setsuna, become human, they're more vulnerable." Moroha recalled those new moon nights. "They're more susceptible to attack."

"Exactly." Kagome nodded. "Trust me, the first time I saw your father as a human I was quite shocked myself. It was when we were attacked by a horde of spiderheads and Tetsusaiga wouldn't transform- this was at the very start of our journey, only Shippo and I were with him at this point, he was covered in webs so we couldn't see at first. When we were far enough away from the danger, it was then I noticed why his attitude was so bad." Said man blushed slightly. "His hair was black, eyes were grey, no claws, no ears, no fangs! When I asked him, 'Is that you?'- like you just did, he answered the same way."

Both girls giggled. "Some things never change, huh Dad?" She leaned into him. "So, what happened next?"

The pregnant miko took notice of her husband and daughter side by side. Apart from the eye color, they looked virtually identical right now. She recalled when Moroha was born, how she took after Inuyasha's human features and said as such. And now it was so apparent. Same black hair, same facial features. It was a remarkable sight.

"Well after Myoga explained the entire situation, I was hurt when he said he couldn't trust anyone. At that point in time, it was a fact. It was a way of protecting himself." She took hold of his hand, held it tight. "But I'm glad that's one thing that's changed for the better on your human nights." His stormy eyes met her oaky browns, conveying how much he was so glad and thankful for her. The change from the mistrusting, angry youth he was then to the trusting and mature man he was now was so obvious. "So anyway, "She turned back to their daughter. "After that first time, I became used to it. And when Miroku and then Sango joined us, they found out and took it in stride. Your father remarked once that too many people now knew about his human night, but I told him that it was a good thing. He now had caring friends he could depend on to keep his secret and protect him- and don't say you don't need protecting." She quickly chided since he was about to argue. "I'm your wife, as you are my husband. We protect each other, regardless! That's the way it's always been, and always will be between us."

InuYasha knew better than to upset her by arguing the point. And she was right. They've always protected each other. She's saved his life many a time, especially on his night of weakness. Before he wouldn't hesitate to say something. But now things are different. Times are different. He didn't need to pull off the macho tough guy act around her anymore. Not only did he not want to eat dirt, but he knew how upset she'd become because of his mouth. And that's something he's worked towards, especially now that's she was carrying his pups. He knew her temper better than anyone.

"I don't tease him about his human night though because I know how much he hates it. In this form his biggest fear is not being able to protect us very well. And it frightens me how limited he is right now because he can get seriously hurt." Her head fell to his shoulder, trying to hide her sudden flux of tears.

"Kagome." He pulled her close, kissing her forehead. He knew she was crying, and he hated it when she did. "Please don't cry." He pleaded.

Moroha watched silently. She knew her mother got increasingly emotional further into her pregnancy, but she thought this stemmed from way before this. She knew her mother worried for her dad with the same intensity as he did for her. Every day she observed their soul-deep bond shine through, the small things from how their hands touched to the way he kissed her hand or the way she rubbed his doggy ears. Before when she was on her own, all she heard were stories of their combined prowess in defeating some of the most dangerous demons ever known. What she didn't know was how they did it. But watching and listening to them now, she knew without a doubt.

As her dad proclaimed "She was born for me. And I was born for her.", Moroha understood.

Later that night…

"How're you feeling?"

"I should be asking you that. You're the one carrying two rambunctious pups."

The couple, now retired, talked quietly in their room, careful not to wake their daughter in the main room. The expectant mother, supported by a pillow leaned against the wall, looking down at her husband who rested between her stomach and raised legs. She had no lap to speak of anymore. Her hand lovingly stroked his bangs, "Aside from not having a lap now? I'm doing all right, thanks."

"Hehe. At least you still have your sarcasm."

"Watch it, mister." She warned.

He chuckled quietly to himself. He'd much rather see her like this than the crying mess she was earlier. He knew his wife was twice as worried when he turned human. Not because she was more vulnerable, but for the sole reason of his safety. Right now, loving the warm, bare skin of her stomach-she was naked save for his fire rat draped over her shoulders and breasts, he was as safe as he ever could be. "Are you sure you don't want to switch places? I can't imagine that's comfortable for you." He started to raise his head.

"Don't even think about it." She pushed him back down. "You know how much I love doing this for you on your human nights." A pause. "Or is it because I'm fat now?" Her tone grew dangerous.

Oh shit. "No no no- Nothing like that!" He reassured her frantically. He raised his head to face her. "Don't ever think that!" He didn't like the anger brewing in those eyes.

"Then why did you ask me that?! I know I look like a beached whale right now, and I'm clumsy and moody and-"

A kiss cut off her rant. She tensed, before letting her resistance melt. She closed her eyes and just reveled in the feel of his silky mouth and that tongue that loved to play with hers.

"-and you're beautiful." He gasped into her mouth. "And smart. And kind. And loving." Kissing her after each sentence. "And always will be."

"Really?"

"Really." He assured her, cradling her face. He gazed into her eyes, misty with tears. His fingers, sans claws, smoothed her hair back. "I may not say it as much, but just know how much you mean to me. Even during our first new moon together."

"I remember." InuYasha settled back against her stomach, loving how careful he was. "You said I smelled nice."

"And you still do." He remarked, closing his eyes, and inhaling the scent of her stomach. "That hasn't changed." His eyes opened to the sounds coming from her stomach. Movement perhaps? "They're active tonight."

"They are. They know something's up." She slightly adjusted herself. More recently her hips and pelvis were starting to ache. Not too bad yet. But the hot flashes were something else, hence why she was currently naked. "Is it different hearing them as a human?"

"Very." It was duller, like hearing underwater. "I can still feel them though." Just then, he felt movement against his hand. "Easy there, pup it's just daddy." He caressed the warm skin. "Don't wear out your momma."

"Too late for that." She stretched her arms upward. "These two are getting more active at night the closer I get to delivering." The firerat did nothing to hide her beautiful breasts that looked bigger, which InuYasha immediately took notice. "Is something wrong?"

Kissing her stomach, he sat up and moved them to where he was now leaning against the wall and she against him. "Just noticing how much bigger your breasts are getting." He whispered, his hands opening her to his viewing pleasure. "Your nipples too."

She hummed in pleasure as hands fully cupped her bountiful mounds. She loved his hands, always had. They were big, strong, and capable. And right now, loving. "Well, I'll be feeding two hungry babies, of course they're huge." His thumbs swiftly caressed her engorged tips, causing her to hiss. "Careful they're sensitive!"

"You want me to stop?"

"Hell no!" Her hands moved his hands, making sure his palms felt her aching buds, yearning for his attention. "You're not stopping until I tell you to!"

"Fine with me." He knew with each passing month she got hornier and hornier. Her sex drive was insatiable, to the point where she even tired him out when he was a hanyou. But he loved playing with her breasts, especially when pregnant. They grew when she carried Moroha, and now with twins they were bigger than ever- and he hoped she would keep them after the birth. He loved everything about them; how her areolas darkened, her nipples elongated and engorged-not to mention sensitive, and her mounds just heavier overall, preparing to feed his pups. Soon she would start producing milk…

"Oh, please don't stop. That feels so good." She moaned, moving her hands to his bare shoulders. "I love your hands on me."

"Don't be too loud, koibito." He whispered in her ear, sending a shiver through her system. "You wouldn't want our daughter to walk in on something she shouldn't?"

"Then maybe you should do something to keep me quiet." Her breathy voice answered. She spread her legs, bracing herself for unbelievable pleasure.

He chuckled, covering her mouth, "Challenge accepted." Ever since he and Kagome married, his human nights were ones that he no longer dreaded, but looked forward to. And he loved her even more for it.

And with that, with experienced ease, he proceeded to torment, tease and pleasure his beautiful wife all through the night.

Well, how was it? It's been a while since I've written a lime, but I think I did it justice!
