Souichiro and his men burst into the Takagi mansion in the early morning as the sun was rising with Jack on a stretcher as they stormed into the the medical center of the mansion.

"Out of the way! Out of the way!" Souichiro shouted to the people in his and the mens way as a medic held up an IV that had medicine and antibiotics to slow the infection that was currently inside Jacks body.

They brought Jack to a medical table and cut off his shirt to see that the infection had already spread to half of his body. Souichiro, looked at his son figure with worry as Jacks eyes fluttered trying to open.

Off to his right he heard a light gasp, when he turned his head to see who it was, he saw his wife, Yuriko, with her hand held up to her mouth and tears streaming down her cheeks.

Looking down at Jack then back to his wife, he began to approach her slowly. "Yuriko-" He began with his hands raised in a calming manner.

"No... not him." She whispered before brushing past Souichiro and walked up to the young man she saw as her second child. "Not you too, Jack. Please not you. You can't leave us. You and Saya mean too much to us. Please don't leave us." She whispered tearfully as she held Jacks hand tightly.

"Yuriko." Souichiro called to her as he walked up behind her and gently rubbed her shoulders. "We... we have to prepare for what may come. I'm hoping for the best, darling, but I'm preparing... for the worst." The man said sadly as Yuriko, who couldn't bare to see her surrogate child in the state that he was in, turned around and embraced her husband tightly as she sobbed quietly against his chest.

The men in the room looked at the man and his wife in sadness before looking down at the young man before them. They then turned their heads away, not baring to look at the state that someone so young was in.

Jacks eyes fluttered open, bloodshot and tired, they looked at Souichiro and Yuriko as he tried to raise his hand.

"S-Souichiro. Yuriko." Called to them with effort.

Souichiro and Yuriko, hearing him, looked at him in shock before Yuriko grabbed his hand and held it tight against her chest with a sorrowful smile on her face while Souichiro leaned down close to him.

"What? What is it, boy? What do you need?" Souichiro asked him, but Jack was struggling to get the words out. Even when he did, Souichiro could barely hear him. So he leaned down closer to hear what Jack was trying to say.

"What? Say again, Jack. Tell me what you need." He said to him.

"F-Find... Vincent T-Thorne... H-He... can... h-help me... F-Find... him... H-He's... Ameri-American like me... He h-has... black hair... w-with gray... eyes... Find... h-him..."

Jack says to him while slowly losing consciousness, but Souichiro put a hand on his shoulder and gently shook him to keep him awake.

"Where, Jack? Where can I find him? Where can I start looking?" He asked him as Yurikos lips trembled as she continued to hold Jacks hand.

It took a moment, but Jack finally managed to answer.

"H-Head... to the... J-JPD... T-That's where... I last... s-saw him... S-Start... there..." He explained before finally losing consciousness again.

Souichiro suddenly stood up straight and looked over at one of his men. "Get the team back together and resupply quickly. We're heading to the JPD. We've got someone to find." He ordered as the man nodded and quickly left the room.

Souichiro then looked at Yuriko, who held Jacks hand close as she weeped silently.

"Yuriko, I know that you don't want me to leave, but-" He started to say.

"No. No, it's fine. Go. Please go. You need to find this person and bring them back to save Jack. Jack is just like my son as Saya is my only daughter. Go, Souichiro. Find this person so they can save our son. Because I'm not going to lose anyone else." She said to him shakily before looking at her husband with a pleading look.

Souichiro said nothing and just nodded before kissing his wife's forehead then walked out of the room.

Yuriko sniffled and wiped her tears away before looking to one of the doctors and ordered them to carry Jack to a more comfortable room while also moving medical equipment to the room.

Yuriko would not leave Jacks side until someone walked into the room and reported that something was happening at one of the safety fences near the city.

Yuriko, before getting up to leave, leaned down and kissed Jacks forehead. "I'll be back soon. I promise." She whispered before walking to leave the room, but she then looked at one of the doctors that was in the room. "Make sure nothing happens to him. Do everything you possibly can to make sure he doesn't turn." She ordered sternly, making the doctor nod quickly.

She then left the room to suit up and head to the safety fence to find out what was happening.

Earlier in the day, early morning...

Saeko and the rest of Takashi's group all sat in the military grade jeep as they crossed the river to get to the next part of the city.

Hirano was sitting on top of the Jeep with the new member of their group, a little girl named Alice. She had lost her father because of the cowardly people that wouldn't let them into their home. So the people killed her father in front of her because they didn't want anyone else to get in.

Saya was standing in the opened top hatch with binoculars in her hands and scanned the area of the city to make sure there weren't any undead waiting for them. If there were, the group would have Hirano pick them off with the high powered sniper rifle that they found back in the apartment.

All of them, except Takashi and Hirano, were still in their sleep wear where they had to quickly leave the apartment because the undead was swarming the area.

Miss Shizuka, her body still wrapped in nothing but a towel, was driving the jeep across the river to get to the next part of the city.

Saeko, Takashi and Rei were asleep in the back. Rei was sleeping on Takashi's shoulder while Saeko was sleeping against her seat.

Rei snorted awake and looked at Takashi with a smile before grimacing because of her small hangover from drinking so much last night.

She rubbed her head gently before shaking Takashi awake. He woke up and looked around him before waking Saeko up, who shot forward with a look of panic on her face.

Takashi and Rei looked at each other in confusion before Takashi placed a hand on Saeko's shoulder.

"Saeko? What's wrong?" He asked her with concern, but she just shook her head.

"I... I don't know. I just feel like something awful has happened." She answered with her hands close to her chest.

Takashi and Rei looked confused at her answer, but left the matter alone when Miss Shizuka pulled the jeep up on land and parked there so everyone could get out and stretch their legs.

The girls decided to get dressed and made sure that the boys wouldn't look, so they got dressed behind the jeep while Takashi and Hirano stood in the front.

As they were getting dressed, Saeko finally took notice of Alices black leather jacket and saw a familiar design on the back as the little girl put it on.

"Alice?" She called to the little girl, making her look up at Saeko. "Where did you get that jacket from?" She asked her.

Alice looked at the jacket she was wearing before looking back up at Saeko with a bright smile. "Oh, Valentine-Oniichan gave it to me." She answered, making Saeko and the rest of the girls eyes widen in surprise. "He said it would protect me and give luck to whoever wears it. I guess he was right. Because I met you all, didn't I?" She continued before looking down at the ground. "But... I also lost... my daddy..." She said sadly and began to wipe her tears away before Saeko got on her knees and hugged the little girl.

Alice hugged her back and sniffled. "But... why do you ask, Saeko-san? You can have it if you want?" She said to Saeko, who nodded her head.

"No, no, Alice-chan. You hold on to it for me. I'm sure Jack will be glad to know that you still have it." She said to the little girl before standing up to finish getting dressed.

"Um, Saeko-san? How do you know Oniichan? Is he important to you?" Alice asked her. Saeko, putting her shirt on, turned her head and looked at Alice with a smile. "Of course he is, Alice-chan. He's my boyfriend." She answered as Alice looked at her with sparkles in her eyes.

The girls finished getting dressed and waited for Miss Shizuka to move the jeep onto the main street road so they could all hop back in the jeep and head into the city.

Hours later, near sunset...

For once during this entire nightmare, and to everyones surprise, the group did not encounter a single undead crowd the entire day, but they remained cautious. Good luck doesn't last.

Takashi and Rei also made note that had not seen or encountered a single undead corpse the whole day, but remained vigilant and cautious as did the rest of the group that was in the jeep.

The jeep then came to a sudden stop and slammed into a wall, and into an odd looking fence, that sent Rei flying off onto the road, stunning her. Takashi, who remained on top of the jeep, had held on for dear life when the jeep suddenly stopped. "What the hell?!" He thought and was about to shout at Miss Shizuka for suddenly stopping, but then looked up and saw why.

A massive crowd of undead were suddenly swarming them and there were too many for the group to take down.

It was like an army.

Seeing Rei unconscious on the road, Takashi hopped off the top of the jeep and ran to shield her from the oncoming horde of undead while the rest of the group, minus Miss Shizuka and Alice, ran to Takashi's aid.

Saeko had hopped out of the jeep and began swinging her wooden kendo sword at the undead and took many of them down with single powerful swings, while Hirano hopped on top of the jeep and covered Saeko and Takashi with his automatic assault rifle.

Takashi, with his shotgun, fired at the undead with headshots, but was somehow missing.

"What the hell?! Why am I missing?! I'm aiming for their heads!" He shouts as Hirano growls in frustration.

"You're using a shotgun! Aim for the chest area! The recoil from your shot shift up and make their heads explode from the shot!" Hirano shouted to him, making Takashi take his advice and aim for one of the undead that was lunging straight for him.

"YARRGH!!!" The corpse snarled as Takashi aimed for its chest and pulled the trigger.

And just as Hirano said, the recoil from the shotgun blast shifted up as Takashi tried to steady himself and made the corpses head explode. Splattering blood and brains all over the road.

Takashi smiled in triumph. "Fuck yeah! Who's next?!" He shouts as he began making headshots left and right while while Saeko continued killing undead with her kendo sword and Hirano killed them with his assault rifle as Saya and Alice handed him ammo.

However, no matter how many they're killing, the keep coming.

Takashi quickly ran over to Rei, who was regaining consciousness, and readied her sniper rifle while using her breasts as a cushion to soften the recoil of the rifle.

"Wait, Takashi! What are you-?!" She asked frantically, but Takashi didn't listen as he pulled the trigger.

BANG!

Takashi, with the sniper rifle, had blown one of the undead away with a shot to its head and hadn't felt a thing from the recoil, but Rei's breasts felt the full brunt of the recoil which made her whimper in pain as Takashi kept shooting.

Each shot made Rei whimper as Takashi continued to shoot until he ran out.

"Damn it!" He shouted as he looked up at Hirano. "Kohta! Get Alice out of here! She can't stay here!" He shouted to his friend, who nodded and picked up Alice and set her on top of the jeep with him.

He gave her a nice smile for her sake before he had to explain what was going to happen. "Alright, Alice, I'm going to put you on the other side of that fence and you're going to run to safety while the others and I will be right behind you, ok?" He said to her with a sweet smile, but Alice knew that look.

It was the same look her mother gave her before she just disappeared and it was the same look her father gave her before he dies from his wound.

She shook her head with tears running down her cheeks as her lips trembled.

"No! No, I'm not leaving all of you here! We left my mommy and she disappeared when she said she would come back! Daddy and I left Oniichan with that monster and he hasn't come back! No! If you stay, then I stay too! I don't want to lose anyone else!" She exclaimed before looking up at Hirano with trembling lips and saddened, teared up eyes.

Hirano looked down at the girl sadly while Saya just looked at the young girl in shock and sadness at her outburst and Miss Shizuka, still inside the jeep, began to tear up herself from the hopelessness of the situation they were in.

Alice suddenly embraced Hirano in a hug before she started to sob.

Hirano hugged her back as he looked down at her. "Oh, Alice..." He said quietly as the undead horde continued to come at them in waves.

"Damn it!" Takashi thought before taking Rei back to the jeep then ran up beside Saeko and stood beside her.

"We can't keep going on like this. We have to figure out a way to buy us time." He said to her as nodded in agreement while she looked around.

"But what can we do?" She asked looking at him, before Takashi just looked ahead and saw a set of stairs. "I'll give the bastards what they want." He said before taking off towards the undead horde, shocking Saeko and the group.

"Over here, you rotten pieces of garbage! All you can eat buffet, right here! Come get me!" Takashi shouted and yelled trying to get the undeads attention as he ran towards the stairs.

Saeko suddenly ran up beside him and smashed the heads of the undead as they both ran up the stairs.

"What are you doing?" Takashi asked her in shock. She just smirked. "You're one of Jacks friends. I'm not about to let you do something stupid on your own." She answered as they smiled at each other before noticing the undead weren't following them. They were still headed towards the rest of the group.

"What?! No! Over here you fucking idiots!" Takashi shouted before slamming his shotgun on the railing of the stairs.

This made the undead stop in their tracks, but only for a moment before continuing to walk towards the group of survivors.

"No! Over here, damn it! Over here! Over here! OVER HERE!!!" He shouts while slamming the shotgun on the railing again and again.

But the undead ignored him and continued to walk towards their targets.

Alice whimpered as Hirano held her tightly while Saya, Miss Shizuka and Rei closed their eyes in fear and waited for the inevitable.

But suddenly, a blast of water sent some of the undead flying backwards into the undead crowd and away from the group. The blasts of water continued to spray the undead backwards before someone in a fireman suit jumped down beside Hirano and Alice, making Alice squeak in shock.

"Come on, we're here to help." The person in the suit said as Hirano handed Alice to the man in the suit before helping the others over the fence.

"Who are you guys?" Saya asked as Hirano jumped down over the fence after helping one of the men with Rei, who couldn't move much from her chest and back pain.

One of the people in the fireman suits walked up to Saya and removed the large helmet to reveal Yuriko Takagi. "Mom?!" Saya asked before running into the womans arms in a hug as she began to sob loudly. The woman looked at her daughter with a smile and hugged her back as Hirano gushed with a slight nosebleed at the sight of the beautiful woman. "So... beautiful... and hot..." He whispered as some of the firemen stepped away from him before Saya just glared at him.

"Damn it, Hirano, don't be weird." She said to him while making her mother giggle.

Saya then looked in the direction of Takashi and Saeko, but they had already taken off away from the undead horde.

"Saeko! Takashi! The Takagi Estate! On the top of the hill! Head North! We'll find you!" She shouted, hopefully loud enough for the two teens to hear as they ran away from all the undead to find a safe spot or a way to get to the Takagi Estate.

Few hours later...

Takashi and Saeko found an abandoned building, that looked to be a temple, and rushed inside while keeping quiet after Saeko suddenly froze when she was about to strike down a small group of undead children.

Saeko sat in the middle of the room trembling as thoughts and memories of what she had done to the man that tried to rape her came back in full force. But then her thoughts drifted to Jack and she remembered what he had told her about her not being a monster and that prefers her the way she is.

She's a fighter. A survivor. And he wouldn't change her for the world even if it asked him to.

She sighed quietly and relaxed as Takashi sat down next to her when they began to hear rain dropping on top of the building.

Takashi turned to her as she had her head down still trembling.

"You want to talk?" He asked her, but she didn't answer.

He nodded and just sat beside her in silence.

"I can't lose him."

Takashi snapped his head in her direction. "What?" He asked.

"Jack. I can't lose him. He's... He's the only person in my life right now that is keeping me from becoming something, someone terrible. If I lose him, I don't know what I'll do." She said to Takashi without looking at him.

Takashi, looking confused for a moment, placed his hand on hers, making her tense for a moment. "There's Rei. Hirano. Saya. Miss Shizuka. And now Alice. And me." He said to her as she slowly turned her head towards him.

He inched his head towards her, but she pulled away and pressed her hand against his chest.

"I know. And I care about them all, and you, but it's not the same. Jack... Jack understands me. He's been the only one to help me understand that I'm not a terrible person. I'm just a fighter. We both are. He understands what has to be done in situations... like this." She explained before looking at Takashi. "That's why I love him. Because he and I are practically cut from the same cloth. One can't exist without the other." She continued before looking away from Takashi again.

Takashi, scooting away from her after she held him back, sighed before looking back at her.

"But, Saeko, with the situation we're all in, you and I both know that-"

SLAP!

Takashi fell back against the floor on his back as he held his cheek and looked up at Saeko in shock.

"Takashi, you're my friend and I do care about you, but you finish that sentence, I will make you wish that you were one of the undead." She said to him darkly as she stood over him with her kendo sword in hand.

Takashi held one of his hands up defensively and kept his mouth shut as she continued.

"I realize that there is no guarantee that Jack will survive, or even if he's still alive right now. Hell, I don't even know if he's out there right now walking around as one of those fucking mindless monsters that we've been killing up to this point" She explained to him while trying to keep herself calm as he just listened.

"BUT, unlike you, I still have hope and faith that regardless of what the truth really is, I believe that no matter what, Jack will survive this. And so will I because I have a reason to. Do you? Or are you just going to keep being a fucking downer and bring people down to your level because you have nothing or no one to live for?" She continued as Takashi just listened before looking away from her at her statement.

Takashi kept his head down as Saeko sat back down with a huff before looking at him. "Find your reason to survive, Takashi. And then we'll talk. Until then, keep your fucking opinions to yourself." She finished sternly before lying down to try and get to sleep.

Takashi just sat in his spot in shock with his hand still on his cheek as he began to think about what she said. He thought about it long and hard for most of the night before lying down himself to get to sleep.

Next morning...

Saeko and Takashi awoke the next morning and made their way to the Takagi Estate after making their way past the undead children, that Saeko decided to take care of after freezing up again. She had decided that while she may do things that she may not be proud of during this epidemic, it must be done in order to survive.

People may judge her for the things she's done in the future, but she won't care, because those people probably have done the same things that she and many other people have done, they just don't want to admit it. So they'll redirect the judgments at other people that aren't ashamed of what they've had to do to survive.

But Saeko doesn't care. As long as she has Jack, his family and her friends, she'll be fine.

"Saeko..." Takashi called out to her. She stops and turns around to face him. "What?" She asks coldly making Takashi flinch.

"Listen, I'm... I'm sorry for last night. I know that I sound like an annoying broken record, it's just... I mean, I just..." He tries to find the words, but they won't come out.

Saeko, seeing that he really is trying, just sighs with a smile before embracing him in a hug. Takashi looked shocked for a moment, before he shakily hugged her back.

"It's alright, Takashi. I know what you're trying to do, but like I told you the other night. Without hope, what else have we got?" She said to him before leaving the hug as they made their way up to the Takagi Estate.

Later that morning, Takagi Estate...

Saeko and Takashi made it behind the safety of the Takagi Estate walls as they both let out huge sigh of relief.

Saya, with her mother, and the rest of the group, minus Rei and Alice, ran up to them and hugged them both and welcomed them to the estate, but Hirano, Miss Shizuka and Saya had sad and somber looks on their faces.

Saeko, noticing this, looked at Saya. "Saya, what's wrong? Did something happen while we were gone?" Then she noticed Alice wasn't with them. "Wait, where's Alice-chan and Rei?!" She asked in a panic.

Yuriko walked up to Saeko and put her hands up on her shoulders to calm her down. "Alice and Rei are just fine, Saeko-san. They're both in the mansion." She assured her, but Saeko remained skeptical.

"Then... what's wrong?" She asked as Takashi looked at the rest of the group with confusion. Yuriko, looking down to the ground with a sombrr expression, sighed before looking back up at Saeko before hugging her tightly.

"You better come with me. It's better if I show you." She said before putting an arm around Saeko's shoulder then looked at Takashi. "Takashi-kun, you stay here with your friends. They'll explain everything to you." She explained before leading Saeko into the mansion.

Looking back at her friends, Saeko noticed just in time that Takashi had a shocked and grief stricken look come across his face before dropping to his knees with his hands over his head as Hirano placed a hand on his shoulder and Saya suddenly embraced him in a hug.

Now Saeko was even more worried.

What had happened?

Yuriko walked her into the mansion and brought her to one of the rooms before stopping just in fromt of the door.

Before Saeko tried to open the door to the room, Yuriko stepped in front of her, placed her hands on her shoulders again and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

"You should brace yourself, Saeko. Because I know that this will hurt you me than it hurt me and the others." She explained sadly as her lips trembled.

Saeko began to hyperventilate before calming herself and nodded.

Yuriko turned around, opened the door to the room and stepped aside.

Saeko froze.

Lying down on the bed with wires and IV tubes connected to him was her boyfriend, Jack Valentine.

"No..." She whispered faintly.
