The broken gate has been plugged, yet the battle was far from over. Dina looked back to see that the squad assigned to protect Eren has been nearly decimated. She looked to the side and saw that Mikasa was running towards her.

"THE TITANS ARE COMING!" Captain Rico shouted after firing a yellow flare "WE HAVE TO CLIMB THE WALL!"

"WE NEED TO RECOVER EREN FIRST!" Dina shouted back.

She looked at the gate. Eren's titan was slouched over the boulder, steaming. Armin was already there, trying to get Eren out of the nape. They all swished up to help Armin.

"It's hot!" Yelled Armin as he was struggling to get him out.

"How's Eren?!" Asked Mikasa.

"Part of him is fused with the titan's body!" Armin yelled back "I can't pull him out!"

"Then we'll have to cut him out!" Rico yelled as she pulled out her swords.

"Wait…" Mikasa cried out right before the female captain slashed her swords through the titan's flesh.

Armin was pulling so hard that he tumbled down to the ground along with Eren.

The three women turned around to see a titan reaching out for the two boys laying below. Before any of them could do anything, a high pitched sound ripped through the air. Momentarily, the titans near the gate fell to the ground dead. As they all looked at the person who saved them, they could see a well-known emblem on his coat.

"Hey!" The newcomer asked them as he turned around "What's the situation?"

The survey corps came to the rescue.

Trost district had been saved. It took a whole day of cannon fire to kill the titans trapped within. Eren had been temporarily placed into custody. There were some voices about him having a trial before a special military tribunal. This could be both good and bad news.

Dina was sure that the king needed to do something about Eren. The boy was a wild card he could not afford to ignore. The military police would try everything they could to get their hands on Eren.

She thought about Grisha. Did he manage to take the founder? If he did, then the king would have even more reasons to get to the Yeager boy. For now, however, Dina wasn't sure about that. Eren didn't seem to show any signs of having the power of the founding titan.

His titan form suggested the long-lost attack titan. The one with the power to break all kinds of barriers and limitations, whatever that meant. Nonetheless, if Dina wanted to take the king down and save her people, she needed Eren's help. His titan was a force to be reckoned with, and she was sure that with their combined powers, they would be able to eventually fight off the warriors of Marley.

Dina was dispatched to Trost along with other cadets from the training corps. Their duty was to gather the bodies of the fallen soldiers, identify them to the best of their abilities and burn them in a joint funeral. The task seemed easier said than done, as they had to look for their dead colleagues with which they spent the last three years.

Even the righteous Marco fell in battle. No one seemed to even notice when it happened. He lost his vertical maneuvering gear and died on the ground.

"After all the training we did…" said Reiner as they were looking at the burning stake "…was it all for nothing…?"

Jean seemed to be in pain. He crouched down and grabbed a handful of ashes among which was his dead friend.

"What should I do?" He asked himself.

He turned towards them.

"Hey guys…" Jean said with a weak voice "…have you decided which branch you're gonna apply to…?"

"I've decided…" He continued "…I will join the survey corps…"

As he said that he squeezed his eyelids shut in grief. The rest of the cadets were looking at him with surprise.

'It took a death of his comrade to straighten him up' Dina thought to herself with sadness.

Joining the survey corps definitely seemed to be a possibility right now. Dina needed to remain close to Eren, so she really hoped the survey corps would win in the tribunal. This way she could possibly reach out to some higher ups within the scouts and maybe even reveal some of the information she possessed. If she really wanted to overthrow a government, the support of at least some part of the military was necessary.

The scouts managed to capture the last two titans, after the bombardment of Trost. They were hoping on conducting some kind of research on them. Dina knew that this was alarming to the warriors. Now that everyone knew people could turn into titans, it wouldn't take scouts too much time to connect the dots. The warriors of Marley had to make their next move soon, and this time, Dina would be there to act.

The things were indeed starting to look better. Dina had a clear plan in mind, and she finally had some means of fulfilling it. The warriors would soon start to feel cornered, and the king didn't have enough authority to dictate the decision on which branch of the military would take over Eren.

The day of the trial finally came. A soldier came to their barracks requesting Dina's presence in the court, along with Mikasa and Armin. The tribunal took place in a large courtroom. This case seemed to gather the interest of not only the military, but regular people as well. Guild members, church officials and influential nobles all gathered to see the trial.

Dina was seated in row along with Mikasa, Armin and Rico. As they waited for the defendant to come, she started getting anxious.

'What if the MP's win?' She thought.

Suddenly the doors to the room opened. Eren was brought in, with cuffs on his hands. The guards shackled him to the pole in the middle of the room. The boy looked towards Dina. She gave him a reassuring smile.

"Alright" said the man in charge of the trial as he walked in and took his seat "let's begin."
