Saeko and Vincent both followed Souichiro into his office in the Takagi Mansion. As the man closed the door behind them, the two guests stood in front of the elegant and expensive looking desk as the Lord of the mansion sat down in his seat.

Souichiro said nothing as he just stared at them in his seat for a few moments as if he were studying them.

Saeko fidgeted slightly under Souichiro's gaze, but Vincent stared back at him with an equal look, but not to study the man, he was just waiting.

Souichiro soon took in a deep breath before looking over at Vincent. "Before we move on to our business, I finally managed to figure out who you are, Vincent-san." He began.

Vincent's eyebrow rose. "Oh?" He simply said as Souichiro nodded his head while Saeko just listened, not wanting to interrupt.

"Yes. It took me the whole night to figure it out, but I remember your name now. Vincent Thorne. You work in a secret private organization called Athena. There are many who know you by a different name. Athena's Angel of Death. You have quite the reputation for one so young, Vincent-san." Souichiro explained to him as Saeko looked over at Vincent in shock.

Vincent just shrugged.

Souichiro chuckled while Saeko just continued to look at him with shock and disbelief. "That's it? You have nothing to say?" She asks him.

Vincent looks over at her and shrugs again. "What do you want me to say?" He asks.

"I... I don't know. Maybe an explanation. I mean, Athena's Angel of Death? How do you even earn a name like that? You had to have done some pretty awful things to have a name like that." She says to him.

Vincent just sighs. "Saeko-san, Souichiro-san, if you want an explanation, it's going to be a long one. All you need to know is that before I joined Athena, I was..." He paused before continuing. "I was put in a bad position and I did everything I deemed necessary to survive. After that I took my vengeance and anger out on the people that made 3 months of my life Hell. And at one point... it cost me a good friend. One that I..." He paused again.

Shaking his head, he continued. "Doesn't matter. What matters is that I've done things that I'm not proud of, but I will not apologize for putting peoples safety first. People can crucify me and demonize me all they want, but I will never apologize for protecting them. Doing things and making decisions, hard decisions, that other people fail to make. I can live with the things I've done. Others can not. I'll do what needs to be done and I will always do what I feel is right, even if people don't agree with it." He explains to her and Souichiro, leaving her shocked while the man just nodded.

"We are all entitled to our secrets, Vincent-san. You don't need to explain yourself." He said to him while standing up and walked around his desk to stand in front of Vincent as Saeko, remained silent, and continued to watch.

"Your aunt and your mother..." He begins before pausing to look over at Saeko. "I apologize in advance, young Saeko, but I will not reveal their names. You know the organizations name, but that is all that you will hear." He says to her. She nods in understanding as Souichiro looks back at Vincent to continue.

"Your aunt and your mother left something here with me for safe keeping. I didn't understand at the time, but I assume that they wanted me to hold on to this item to give to you as a gift. They wanted to it to you themselves, but under the circumstances of our current predicament, I believe it is only right and necessary to give it to you now." He explains before walking back behind his desk.

Behind his desk lied a large case. He walked in front of the desk and opened it to reveal two well made quality samurai swords.

One looked to be all black with a silver hilt and a long dark red cloth wrapped around the scabbard, while the other had bright red wrapping around the handle, a golden hilt and a bright red scabbard.

Souichiro picked up both swords and placed the red sword on his desk with the black sword still in his hand. He walks back to the front of his desk and presents it to Vincent.

"Your mother and aunt will no doubt have quite a fit when they find out that I gave this to you instead of them, but I'm confident that they will also understand considering the circumstances of our situation at the moment." He says as Vincent nods while he continued. "This blade has no name yet, it is a tradition among many cultures for the wielder of a weapon to name it either before or after they've made their first kill with the weapon. I entrust the naming of this weapon to you, Vincent-san. Name it wisely." He advised as he carefully handed the weapon to Vincent.

Vincent held the sword in his hands and took a few steps back. He looks at Souichiro for a brief moment before pulling out the sword out of its scabbard to reveal a long, bright, silver blade that had a quiet ringing hum.

The 3 people in the room all listened to the ringing hum as Vincent examined the blade with an almost excited smile. After a moment, Vincent nods and places the sword back in the scabbard and respectfully bows to Souichiro. "Thank you, Souichiro-san. I'll be sure to thank my mother and aunt as well when I get the chance." He says with a smile.

Souichiro, with one of his many rare smiles, nods in return. "What will you name it?" He asks him.

Vincent, looking at the sword in his hand, thinks for a moment before smiling again. "Fenrir." He answers.

Souichiro nods before looking over at Saeko, who begins to fidget again under his gaze.

"Vincent-san, will you kindly leave the room? I have some private business with Busujima-san. Would you be so kind?" He asks the young man.

Vincent nods and bows respectfully to Souichiro. "Of course." He says before walking towards the door to the room, but briefly stops and places a reassuring hand on Saeko's shoulder, before exiting the room.

Souichiro grabs the red sword from his desk, places it on the floor then kneels on the floor and politely motions for Saeko to do the same. She complies and kneels down in front of the man then waits to hear what he has to say.

Meanwhile, with Jack...

Jack Valentine, wanting to stretch his legs, gets dressed and leaves the room to explore the Takagi mansion while also looking for Saya to talk to her.

Walking down to the first floor, he notices Saya walking in to one of the rooms on the right.

"Hey, Saya!" He calls out to her. She turns around to see who called her, but when she notices that it was Jack, she gains a look of fear and sadness on her face before quickly turning around to run away.

Jack quickly breaks into a run to chase after her, but where his body is still sore, he doesn't run for very long.

Barely making it to the door of the room, he stops and leans on the doorframe to catch his breath. "Damn it, Saya. You can't run from this forever. We have to talk." He whispers while he watches the last bit of Saya's pink hair disappear from his view.

He sighs and turns around to walk around the mansion and see where the other members of his group are.

"Having some girl trouble are we?" A voice suddenly asked with a chuckle.

Jack looks up to see Vincent looking down at him from the top of the stairs with a sword in his hand.

"Hey, Vincent. Are you and Saeko done with Souichiro-san? I should head back to my room then. I promised Saeko I'd be there when she gets back." He says as he starts walking up the stairs to head back to his room, but Vincent waves his hand, stopping him.

"Nah. I mean I'm done, but Saeko isn't. Souichiro-san apparently has some business with her, so I imagine that she's going to be there with him for a while." He informs Jack while walking down the stairs.

He nods as Vincent makes it down the stairs to stand beside him. "So what was that about with Saya-san? She suddenly just took off when you called out to her. I thought you two were friends?" He asks with curiosity.

Jack hesitantly nods. "We are. We just... We haven't exactly been on the best terms for a while." He answers, making Vincent look at him curiously.

"Why not?" He asks. Jack just shrugs. "You tell me. I mean, I have an idea of what it might be, but I'm not 100% sure. Every time I want to talk to her about it though, she just brushes it off and ignores it. She does the same with her parents." He explains as Vincent nods while continuing to listen.

"And now, considering everything that's going on, I want to clear the air with her and find out what caused her to distance herself from me. Because if something happens to either one of us, I just know that we'll both regret not talking. And also considering that I had my brush with Death already, I'm afraid that she doesn't want to be seen as weak in her family's eyes if she talks to me." Jack continued to explain.

"Or maybe after what happened to you, she doesn't want to get too close and end up getting hurt if something happens to you again." Vincent said with a thought while throwing his two cents in.

Jack looks at him curiously. "What do you mean?" He asks, making Vincent look at him.

"Jack, people often think that the less connections you make with someone, or if you break a connection you have with someone, the less you get hurt. That's what a lot of people think, at least. But in the end, you end up getting hurt anyway, because if you had a chance to talk things out with someone or had a chance to help, but didn't, you end up getting hurt anyway. It's easier to make the choice of staying away, but reaching out to talk or to help, that's the hard part because you never know what the end results are going to be." Vincent explains as Jack listens.

"I don't know her personally, Jack, but... give me a chance to talk to her. Let me try. Alright? After that I'll send her your way, if she's willing." He says to Jack.

Jack wasn't too sure, but Vincent has given him no reason to not trust him. So he just nods. "She won't like it, but maybe you'll have a better chance than I will or her parents." He says as Vincent just nods with a smile.

"Oniichan! Vincent-san!" A voice calls out to them from the top of the stairs.

They both look up to see Alice running down towards them with a bright smile on her face, with Shizuka and Rei walking down behind her.

"Hi, Alice-chan!" Jack said kneeling down to hug her.

"Oniichan, shouldn't you be in bed? I thought you were still sore?" She asks, looking up at him. Jack just smiles and shakes his head.

"I'm ok, Alice-chan. I needed to stretch my legs and walk around a bit. Plus-" He explains before his stomach suddenly growls, surprising the small group. Rei, Shizuka and Alice giggles while Vincent chuckled.

Jack, embarrassed, laughs as he rubs the back of his head. "Plus I'm a little hungry. I haven't really eaten since... well, the past few days." He explains.

Alice nods and grabs his hands with a smile. "Let's find you something to eat then, Oniichan! Miss Shizuka and Miss Rei were just taking me to the kitchen to grab a bite to eat! You can come with us!" She suggested energetically as Jack nods.

"I'd like that, Alice-chan. Let's go." He said, standing back up holding Alice's hand in his.

He, Alice and Shizuka all walked towards the kitchen before Alice suddenly stops and looks towards Vincent. "Vincent-san! Would you like to come with us? The Takagi's have amazing food!" The little girl asks him brightly.

Vincent chuckles and shakes his head. "No, thank you, Alice-chan. I'll be fine. Besides, I have some business to take care of while I'm here." He answers, making Alice nod.

"Ok!" She said before continuing to walk with Jack and Shizuka.

Shizuka suddenly stops. "Rei-chan, aren't you coming with us?" She asks the teenage girl.

"I'll be just a moment, Shizuka-san. You go on ahead." Rei answers as Shizuka nods and walks away to catch up to Jack and Alice before Rei turns her head towards Vincent.

"If I may, Vincent-san, what business do you have to take care of? I mean, there's not much to do around here other than walking around the mansion. I mean for... us kids at least." She asks him curiously.

Vincent looks at Rei for a moment before looking in the direction Jack left before looking back at the young girl. "I'm sorry, Rei-san-"

"Chan."

"Pardon?" He asks.

"Call me Rei-chan. There's no need for formalities with me." She says to him with a smile.

Vincent smiles and nods. "Right. Well, as I was saying, Rei-chan. It's not my place to say, but I'm sure Jack will explain when he's ready."

Rei nods and walks away to follow Jack, Shizuka and Alice.

Vincent stands in his spot for a moment longer before heading back up the stairs back to his room.

Walking inside, he sets his sword, Fenrir, on the bed and walks over to the night stand to pull out a small radio.

Letting out a sigh, Vincent shakes his head. "Ada, I hope you're alright. So please pick up." He whispers quietly before pressing a button on the radio to try and contact his friend.

BZZZT!

Meanwhile, at the Tokonosu Offshore International Airport...

BANG!

"Whew! Got it. That's another zombie down." Said an attractive young woman with a dark skin tone, brown eyes and bright purple hair.

"Aren't you tired yet, Minami? You should get some rest if you're planning on heading back to the mainland for your friend." A young man named Tajima asked her as she gets up from her prone position and sits on her knees while stretching her limbs before unzipping her top to partially expose her chest and gently rubbing them to ease the numbness.

"Hmph, once all these damned zombies are cleared off this little piece of land, I'll rest up then. I'm going to do as much as I can in the meantime." The young woman says with confidence and resolve. She then looks over at her teammate with a teasing smirk. "Besides, you're still not a better shot than I am. We might get over run if I let you take over." She said with a chuckle.

Tajima, looking annoyed, narrowed his eyes at her. "Yeah, yeah. Ha, ha, very funny Rika. You're not a machine though, you need to recharge every now and then if you want to see your friend again. I mean, you never know what might happen with something like this. Nothing is certain, you know?" He says to her, making her shake her head with a somber look.

She sighs deeply before looking back at her partner. "Yeah, I know. But... I have to do what I can. I don't want to just half ass this job and not be able to look my friend in the eye because I didn't contribute or do enough. She's the only friend I've got and I don't want to lose her." She voices her reasoning before looking back at the mainland.

"I can't lose her." She says quietly as Tajima looks at her with understanding.

Back at the Takagi Mansion...

Vincent, after talking with Ada, searched around the mansion and it's grounds looking for Saya Takagi to talk to her and find out why she's avoiding Jack and get her to have a heart to heart with him before it's too late. For her and for Jack in case something happens to either one of them.

Looking around the grounds for almost the 10th time, he was beginning to lose patience before someone spoke behind him.

"Vincent-san?" A lovely voice asked behind him. Vincent turns around to see Yuriko Takagi walking up behind him with a curious look on her face.

Vincent bows politely to her with a smile. "Yuriko-san. I hope I'm not disturbing or distracting anyone with my odd behavior?" He says respectfully to the woman as she walks up to him with a smile.

She waves her hand dismissively and giggles. "No, not at all. Although, I am curious. What are you doing, may I ask?" She asks curiously.

Taking a deep breath, Vincent decides to answer. "I'm, uh... I'm looking for your daughter." He says as Yuriko looks at him with narrowed eyes.

"May I ask why?" She asks with a silent, but dangerous, tone. Vincent holds up his hands in a calming manner before he answers. "Don't misunderstand. I offered Jack to find her and talk to her before sending her his way so they could talk. He tried talking to her earlier, but she ran off. She didn't even wait long enough to see what he wanted to talk about." He says to the woman, who looks at Vincent with understanding before nodding her head sadly.

"Oh, yes. I figured that would come up sooner or later." She says almost quietly.

Vincent walks up close to her before continuing to speak. "I won't do anything you don't want me to, Yuriko-san. I wouldn't want a stranger to suddenly confront my daughter either, but you wouldn't happen to have any idea where she is, do you?" He asks her politely.

Yuriko looks at him for a moment before glancing down to the floor then back to him when she had an idea. "I... I may have an idea, Vincent-san. But if you don't mind, I would like to talk to Saya-chan myself. She can't keep running from this forever. I'll send her to Jack after she and I have talked. Be sure to let Jack know, yes?" She says to the young man, who nods in understanding with a smile.

"Of course." He says, before bowing respectfully to her then walks away.

Watching Vincent walk away, Yuriko sighs deeply before heading to the only place in the mansion that Saya would feel the most safe. Away from all her problems that she never wants to confront.

The garden.

Walking outside to the back of the mansion, Yuriko looks to see Saya sitting on one of the stone benches reading a book near the large water fountain with a statue of a dragon in the middle.

Sighing, Yuriko makes her way to her daughter to finally talk to her and have a heart to heart.

"Saya, darling?" She says walking up to her daughter, who looks up and closes her book to stand up and walk away, but before she does, Yuriko lightly glares at her. "Saya-chan, sit. Down. Now." She orders her daughter.

Saya, knowing that she wasn't going to get away so easily this time, wisely sits back down on the bench with her book in her lap and with a pout.

"Okasan, please, I know what it is you want to talk about, but I don't have time to talk about it. I have other things to do." Saya says, trying to avoid the conversation she knows that is coming, but Yuriko shakes her head.

"No, Saya-chan. We need to talk about this. YOU need to talk about this. If you don't, I know you'll regret it. Because your father and I both know that you care about Jack, even though you've been avoiding him for many years now since he came to Japan." The mother explains as Saya just scoffs with a roll of her eyes.

"Me? Care about him? Please. I could care less about him, mother." She says, looking away from her mother and crossing her arms over her chest.

Yuriko raises her eyebrows, not believing a word her daughter just said. "Oh? You don't care about him?" She asks.

Saya looks back at her mother with a small glare and narrowed eyes. "Not. In. The slightest." She answers, making Yuriko nod.

"Alright. Then enlighten me. If you don't care about him, then why were you on the verge of tears when you saw him lying in his bed while he was infected? Hmm?" She asks her daughter, who had no answer ready as she stuttered and stumbled over her words.

Yuriko, knowing that she already had her, continued. "Saya, you try to act like a cold and heartless little girl, but you're not. You have friends that care about you and you care about them. Jack is one of those people that cares about you. He sees you as his little sister and he wants nothing more than to mend his relationship with you, darling. I know the reason why you began to distance yourself from him. And you couldn't be more wrong." She explains to her daughter.

Saya, being cautious, narrows her eyes more and begins to listen intently. "What do you mean by that, mother?" She asks.

Yuriko inhales deeply before sighing. "You think that we favored Jack over you because your father desired a son. You're wrong." She explains before continuing. "Your father and I love you so much, Saya. And we love Jack as if he were one of our own. We love you both equally." She answers.

"Then why? Why were you suddenly so much more supportive and loving to him instead of both of us? It seemed like you intended to leave me behind for him." Saya asks her mother.

"That was never our intention, Saya. We wanted to tell you once everything had settled down, but you didn't give us a chance to explain. I'm explaining it now. However, what I'm about to tell you is super confidential. If I tell you this, you must swear to me that you will not speak a word of this to anyone. And I mean, no one. Not even your friends. Or Vincent. Although, I have a strong feeling that he may already know." Yuriko explains cautiously to her daughter, who looks at her with intrigue.

"Wha... Ok, yes. I won't speak a word of this to anyone, mother. I promise." She promises as she scoots closer to her mother and listens to what she's about to say.

Sighing deeply, Yuriko begins to explain. "It all started when Jack's aunt, Jill Valentine, supposedly disappeared or died after a mission while investigating a mansion..."
