"Yahallo, Yukinon!"
"Good afternoon, Yuigahama-san, Hikigaya-kun."
"Yo."
I slid the door of the service club room close after I and Yuigahama entered. Smelling the usual aroma of tea that Yukinoshita brews, along with the silence (well, besides Yuigahama), it's undeniable that I became used to spending the whole afternoon here.
A year ago, I was just a member of the notorious going home club and laze on my room for the whole time until either the dinner is served or I'm the one assigned to cook. Well, I'm still like that when I'm at home but the real difference is that an hour of what was supposed to be my lazing time is spent on the service club. Still doing nothing most of the time.
Trully, I'm thankful that it's this club that Hiratsuka-sensei forced me to enter just because I would be doomed if I'm with the other clubs, especially the sports-related clubs, with all of their noises. Thinking about it makes me smile a little bit because of relief.
"Hikigaya-kun, please refrain from making that facial expression like you're plotting something perverted." This is absolutely not what I'm thankful for.
"I'm pretty sure I only did that 'facial expression' for at most two seconds. To notice something like that, are you perhaps stalking me?" Not my best retort but this should do.
"It's called 'keeping an eye' on a dangerous creature to know wh-"
She was interrupted upon hearing a soft knock on the door. "Come in." she said.
The door slid open rather slowly. Therein reveals a certain student council president who's aura is too fluffy that it might invite unwanted lusts from various creeps. That's just a sad reality for cute girls.
"Is this the service club?" Shiromeguri-senpai asked.
"Yes, Shiromeguri-senpai. Please have a seat." Yukinoshita responded.
Entertaining the guest was always been a role for the girls. As for me, I would only join them if they need to brainstorm, of if the request is just a plain manual labor. Wait, I didn't remember us accepting manual labor requests. So yeah, I decided to read my light novel until they call me to participate intheir discussion. Or that's what I'm planning to do when our client suddenly prevented me from doing so.
"Hikigaya-kun, please hear me out too." senpai stated while facing me. I guess the client wants my participation this early.
"Ok, I'll hear you out."
"Woah Hikki! You know Shiromeguri-senpai?" As expected, this question from Yuigahama doesn't make any sense at all. If you're that surprised, should you be asking Shiromeguri-senpai instead why she knows about me?
"Well, she's the student council president. Why wouldn't I know her?"
"No, you moron. What Yuigahama-san means is that she's amazed that you're acquainted with each other." This time, it's Yukinoshita. Wow, what's with them?
"Uh, he's part of the festival commitee too, you know?" Wew, thank you, senpai.
"T-that makes sense." Take that, Ice Queen! not everyone is my enemy, you know? "So what do we owe the pleasure?" Yukinoshita asked, facing the client.
"Um, you see, my time for being a student council pressident is coming to an end but there isn't someone who's interested in taking the role of replacing me."
"Hmm, so how can we help you with this?" Yukinoshita asked.
"It would be nice if the service club help me find a candidate or two for the upcoming elections."
After stating her request, for some reason, Shiromeguri-senpai was looking at the two girls like she's been intimidated. It's understandable that she'll be intimidated by Yukinoshita but also with Yuigahama? I think something's happening here that only girls can sense. With that, she sent me a 'help me!' look. Too bad, senpai. I don't understand how girls work that's why I can't help you.
"Ehem, we have you request, Shiromeguri-senpai. We'll do our best to find a candidate."
"Thank you very much, everyone. Bye-bye!"
Senpai then went out with her bubbly aura recovered. I thought for a moment that she won't recover because of the girls'... I don't know what they did to her.
"Shiromeguri-senpai was acting kinda weird like she's scared or something. What do you think, Yukinon?"
"Hikigaya-kun, I hope that you weren't staring her in a perverted way that caused her to fear for her chastity." Great, accusing me of being a sex offender again.
"Hey! I'm perfectly innocent. I even think that it's you that she's scared of." I replied.
"My, shifting the blame to others. How low can you get, Hiki-scum-kun?" Coming from the one who just blamed me on a whim.
"Yeah, whatever."
Sure that we agreed that we'll help senpai look for a student council president candidade but I can't help but feel that something was off about her request. It's feels like she really mean it but at the same time she don't, like a hidden request or something. Well, the service club will only do what the client requested and I don't intend to dig deeper onto the said request.
As the the dark sky tinted with orange is suggesting, it's already late that I need to hurry home or else Komachi would be alone there.
*Rrringg*
Speak of the devil. "Yo, Komachi."
"Onii-chan, I will be sleeping on a friend's house so I won't be home tonight."
"Just make sure that there's no bugs in there."
"Baka! It's a girls' sleepover. And don't call Taishi-kun a bug!" I'm surprised that you know who I meant.
"Yeah yeah. Bye, Komachi."
"Bye and goodnight, gomi-chan."
With a Max Coffee in hand, I went to the direction of the bicycle parking space. I then saw a feminine figure standing there. If she's waiting for her boyfriend then how sweet of her. No, go die, riajuus! However, the figure is standing near my bicycle so her waiting for a boyfriend is out of the question.
"Hikigaya-kun, you're here at last!" How did she know where my bike is?
"Shiromeguri-senpai?! Why are you still here?"
"Hey, that's kinda rude! I waited for you, you know?"
"Ah okay, whatever. So what is it, senpai?"
"Let's take a seat over there first." She pointed at the nearby bench.
The sky is now almost completely black. I don't know why but for some reason, senpai is now sitting awfully close to me. She have this look of hesitation on what she's going to say to me but I resisted the urge to tell her to spit it out.
"H-hikigaya-kun, I know this is too sudden but..." Oh great, what a perfact way to start it.
"Back during the preparations for the festival, I've confirmed something about you. Despite the villainous approach, you really are the hero of the whole event. You're a very helpful person. It seems like being helpfu is like breathing to you." Oi oi, don't tell me...
"I... I" I think I know what she's gonna say next. Please don't tell me it's that.
"I what?" My impatience got the best of me. Calm down, self. There's still a chance that she wasn't referring to that.
"I... I want you run as the student council president!"
Oh crap!A/N: I know that concept has been already used but that's the only thing I could come up with. Sorry to disappoint you. But still, I'll try to improve next time.
