Waiting for them, a large bowl of pasta sat steaming in the center of the small dining table. "Ah! I See You Finally Got My Lazybones Of A Brother To Wake Up And Join Us." Papyrus noted happily at their arrival. Lifting a small stack of plates in gloved hands, he bent down and held them out to the human. "Miss Fearia, Would You Be So Kind As To Set The Table For Us?"

Releasing her hold on Sans's skeletal hand, Fearia happily accepted the task given to her. "Okay."

The shorter skeleton just stared at the odd pair. When had they become so chummy? And what was this 'Miss Fearia' business? ...oh right. That was the kid's name. He had actually forgotten she had one. Good thing nobody asked him. Tucking this information away, he'd try to remember it this time. Maybe.

Once they were all seated at the table and the spaghetti was equally divided amongst the three of them, Papyrus smiled a little brighter. Wowie... Right now, they looked like a normal family unit. Just a Mommy skeleton, a Daddy skeleton and a baby human!

Sans gave his plate of spaghetti a wary look before his eye lights turned to gaze over at the other two occupants at the table. Geez... What a sight they made. Two skelebros and a human runt... He never thought he'd see a day where this would be a thing.

Fearia didn't care how they looked, she simply ignored the two skeletons as she stared down at her plate hungrily. Kicking her small legs back and forth with barely contained excitement, the little girl reached for the shiny metal stick provided to her. It was forked, just like the kind goat lady's eating sticks. Grabbing it crudely, she attempted to collect some of the stringy pasta.

After taking a courtesy sample of his brother's spaghetti, Sans set his fork down. As usual, it wasn't quite edible. The pasta wasn't cooked all the way through, making it just a little crunchy, and the sauce had been over salted again. At least it wasn't frozen this time. That made it a tiny bit better, actually.

Looking over to the human, Sans was struck yet again by the strong urge to laugh. He'd originally thought Papyrus was the messiest eater he'd ever seen, but this tiny creature had easily surpassed him. She didn't seem to know how to properly twirl pasta onto a fork. Hell, from the looks of it, she didn't even know how to use a fork.

This was really cringe worthy, but the shorter skeleton couldn't bring himself to look away. She'd really need a bath after this. Unfortunately, their bathroom was being used as extra storage space since they didn't need it. Just another chore that would have to be taken care of.

After a few bites, Fearia pushed the plate away and stuck out her tongue at the taste. "Ith thwoo thalty..!" She complained, her stomach already starting to turn. Was this really how spaghetti was supposed to taste? It was awful! She would gladly take snail casserole over this any day.

"i warned ya, kid." Sans chuckled quietly as he smirked at her reaction.

"Too Salty? Hmm." Papyrus was contemplative for a moment before nodding. "Thank You For Your Blunt But Honest Criticism, Miss Fearia. Please, Tell Me, Is There Anything Else I Can Change To Improve The Quality?"

The little girl looked down at the plate of pasta for a moment before turning her attention back to the expectant skeleton. "Umm... Is it supposed to be crunchy?"

"Of Course!" Papyrus grinned. "How Else Would You Even Know You Were Eating Anything If It Didn't Have A Pleasant Crunch To It?"

"Oh." Fearia frowned slightly before nodding in acceptance. "I guess that makes sense." She replied, giving him a small smile.

Choosing to stay quiet this time, Sans just grinned a little wider. Poor kid, he'd have to get her some real food later. As much as he loved his little brother, not even he could handle too much of his cooking.

After breakfast, Papyrus had taken it upon himself to compulsively clean the messy child. "Sans, I Had No Idea Humans Were So Squishy!" He marveled as he gently wiped at the little girl's pouting face.

"eh." Sans shrugged, closing an eye socket. "i think it's just her. she's got chubby cheeks."

Fearia shot him a moody glare. "Your face is chubby..." She grumbled.

"nice try, kid," The shorter skeleton chuckled. "but i don't even have skin."

"You've got a big fat head then..." She muttered under her breath.

"you say something, squirt?" Sans shot back, his grin turning passive-aggressive.

Puffing out her chubby cheeks, the little girl drew in a breath. "I said-"

"There! All Clean!" Papyrus said, easily ending the argument before it could begin. He'd have to admit, he found their interactions quite curious. Never before had he known anyone able to push his brother's buttons so effortlessly and yet Sans didn't seem particularly bothered by it. In fact, he seemed to rather enjoy the banter!

Pulling at her borrowed shirt, Fearia frowned down at the spaghetti sauce splattered across it. It was sticky and the smell wasn't pleasant. In fact, the stench was actually starting to make her feel a little nauseous. Making a small whine of discontent, the small child looked imploringly up to Sans.

"something bothering ya, kid?" Sans asked, his grin widened a little. It wasn't that difficult to understand what she was trying to tell him. This child was really something else. One moment she was sassing him and the very next she was wanting him to fix something. Were all human children like this or was this one just a brat?

Seeing the amused look on the skeleton's face seriously irked the small child. "No." She lied, turning away from him sulkily.

"you sure about that?" Sans smirked. "because, if you ask me, i'd say you need a change of clothes."

"He's Right, Miss Fearia!" Papyrus readily agreed. "You Can't Just Go Around Covered In Spaghetti Sauce. Delicious as it may be..." He added, squinting to the side. "That's Why, I, The Great Papyrus, Will Gladly Give You Some Of My Own Clothes To Wear!"

"i don't know, paps..." Sans started uncertainly. "do you have anything that'll even fit her? i mean, she's super tiny."

"Am not!" The super tiny human snapped, her tiny fists balled up in frustration.

"Hmm, You Have A Point There, Brother." Papyrus agreed, placing a gloved hand to his jawbone in thought as he analyzed the child's small proportions. "There must be something that will fit..."

...

Sitting at the kitchen table once again, Fearia was now wearing an off white shirt, courtesy of Sans. As it turned out, none of Papyrus's clothes even came close to fitting the small girl. Beside her, on the table, was a partially full glass of dark fizzy liquid the skeletons had called 'soda'. She wasn't quite sure if she liked it or not. It was sweet but the bubbles tickled her nose.

She had been given some crayons and paper to occupy her while the two skeletons busied themselves with the bathroom she hadn't known existed until now. That was fine. Her knee was giving her grief again anyways. It was best she stayed off of it for awhile.

The first thing she had drawn was a picture of her sister. Unfortunately, the little girl's artistic capabilities didn't do Frisk much justice. On her chest, she had drawn a nice big red heart. It suited her, Fearia thought.

The second picture, she had tried to draw the golden flowers from inside the Ruins as well as the hole she had fallen from. She paid particular detail to the sunlight streaming down. As an afterthought, she also added the rope dangling from the surface.

There were other things she had attempted to draw but had given up on, like one of her new Mom sitting next to the fireplace or one of the mean talking flower. Flowey's face tended to change so much that she couldn't decide what it should look like, so eventually she simply just gave him an angry frowny face. Sans and Papyrus had been the most difficult to draw. Why did skeletons have so many bones! She ended up making stick figures out of them. The simplicity worked just fine once she added their signature clothing. Fearia finished the picture by adding "Z"s above Sans's head. Perfect.

The skeleton brothers had been working on cleaning up the bathroom for the last hour. It was mostly cleared out now. All that was left was actually cleaning in. Papyrus had that covered. For some reason, he really enjoyed cleaning things. Maybe it was therapeutic or something.

Not sharing his brother's passion for neat and tidiness, Sans yawned loudly as he walked back into the kitchen. That was more work than he ever wanted to do. He was bone tired now. Looking over to the small child, he was struck by how quiet she was. He wasn't complaining, of course. No, this was a pleasant change.

Quietly walking over to the child, Sans peaked over her shoulder. She was in her own little world it seemed, doodling up a storm, and from the looks of it, she had done quite a lot. As his eye lights scanned over the scattered papers, his grin widened considerably. Kid was an artist of sorts, ...a bad one. heh, not like he could do any better.

"what'cha drawin' there, pal?" Sans asked as he stared directly down at her current 'masterpiece'.

Setting down the half used yellow crayon, Fearia smiled and held up the picture for him to see. "It's a magical healing star!" She beamed.

"a healing star?" Sans tilted his skull to look at the picture at a new angle. "is that something from the surface world?"

"Mh mh!" Fearia shook her head. "No, they're in the Underground. I've seen like five so far. Maybe six. I need to go find one so it can fix my knee." Looking up to her friend, she asked. "Have you seen any floating around nearby, Sans?"

"can't say i have." The shorter skeleton replied easily. If anything, the child had a good imagination. "if i see one around, i'll be sure to tell you." With the rate of accidents this kid had, a magical healing star would sure come in handy.

Reaching over, he smirked as he picked up a picture from the table. "so, this is your big sister, huh? i can totally see the resemblance."

"Hey!" Fearia cried as she quickly snatched the picture back from him. Placing it in front of her, she leaned over the table, hiding it underneath her arms and upper body. "Don't make fun of Frisk!" She demanded as a blush crept onto her face.

Chuckling at her childish reaction, Sans gave an exaggerated shrug, closing an eye socket. "i was actually making fun of you, kid, not your sis. whoever she is, i'm sure she's great."

"She is..." Fearia agreed with a small smile. Moving her arms, she looked down at her picture. "I just wish I could draw her better."

"she looks like a human to me." Sans reasoned. "don't see how you could do much better."

"But she's way prettier than this!" Fearia argued, puffing out her cheeks as she held the picture out in front of her, scrutinizing it thoroughly. "If you ever saw her, you'd think so too."

"whatever you say, kid." Sans shrugged again, stuffing his bony hands into his jacket pockets. "But if you ask me, all you humans look a little strange."

Lifting an eyebrow, Fearia frowned up at her friend. "You're literally a talking skeleton." She reminded, pointing out his hypocrisy. "If you ask Me, you're way weirder looking!"

"that so..." The weird skeleton replied, eye lights looking away from the child. Catching sight of his own picture, his grin grew a little and he plucked the paper from the tabletop. "i'll have you know, squirt, around here, i'm actually considered very attractive." He joked as he pointed to his stick figure wearing a big poofy blue coat and pink fluffy slippers. "i mean, just look at this stunning portrait. whoever drew this masterpiece managed to capture me from all the right angles."

"Pfff!" Fearia tried not to laugh. She really did. But when the skeleton started turning to display all of his supposed "right angles", she just couldn't help herself. The silliness of the situation was too much.

Sponge in gloved hand, Papyrus popped out of the bathtub he was leaning into. What were they laughing at? More importantly... where was Sans?! Was he slacking off again? That brother of his...

"What's Going On In Here?" Papyrus demanded as he walked into the kitchen. Both human and skeleton cut off their laughter as they spotted him, but just barely. The grins they wore spoke of an inside joke. Papyrus squinted suspiciously.

"nothin'." Sans replied with a lazy shrug, placing his bony hands back into his jacket pockets. "just posing for this new up-n-coming artist. kid's got real talent, paps."

"Miss Fearia!" Papyrus gasped, feeling very much like he had been cheated out of a position that was rightfully his. "If You Needed A Muse, Then You Should Have Asked For My Assistance! They Don't Call Me "The Great Papyrus" For Nothing!" Turning, the taller skeleton posed dramatically. "How's This?"

The small child covered her mouth in futility as she dissolved into a fit of giggles. These skeletons were too funny! Fearia could honestly not remember the last time she had laughed like this. It felt good.

Smiling, Sans watched as his little brother made a series of ridiculous poses while the human laughed and clapped with glee. It was an odd scene and one he never thought he'd see, but at the same time, it felt pleasant. He hadn't seen his brother this happy in such a long time. Who knew such a tiny human could bring so much joy? If Sans had been asked a week ago what he thought of humans, his answer would have been very different. Now however, he couldn't truthfully say he thought all humans were rotten to their core. They were all still trouble, though. That opinion, at least, hadn't changed at all.

"hey, paps, why don't you introduce the kid to the mettaton show?" Sans suggested, interrupting their fun. "it's about that time, i think."

"Oh!" Looking up to their hanging clock, Papyrus gasped. He had almost missed the show! "You're Right. Thank you, Brother." Turning back to the small human, he grinned a toothy grin. "Come, Miss Fearia, I'm Sure You'll Love This Show!" The small child released a startled squeak as she was carefully plucked from her chair and carried out of the kitchen.

In the next chapter, the skeletons are once again reminded that they know very little about humans.
