New Years
Akito looked at herself in the mirror. She was finally ready for the New Year's banquet. It was the second banquet she had organized since the curse was broken. The first banquet had not quite gone as she had hoped. Yuki, Rin and Haru had declined her invitation. Kureno had decided to stay in the country. Momiji had celebrated the New Year in Germany. And she suspected that Ayame was there for Shigure. The only one who had responded enthusiastically to her invitation was Tohru.
Deep down, she knew it would have turned out like this. After all the unhappiness and suffering she had caused them, it would still take a long time to gain their trust and forgiveness.
For this year's banquet, she had invited the Junishi along with their partners, and she hoped that in a few years their children would bring joy to the banquet. She wanted to make the New Years festivities a warm family celebration where everyone would be happy. She no longer wanted to live again cold banquets where she had created fear.
Shigure entered the bedroom. He stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
'It's almost time. Are you ready ?'
Akito closed her eyes and nodded. Being in Shigure's arms reassured her. Thanks to him, she could calm her fears. She turned around and she kissed him to give herself courage. Shigure smirked.
'Let's go,' he said.
He took her hand and they headed for the banquet room. At least Shigure and Tohru would be there and the idea reassured her. They stopped in front of the door. Shigure raised her hand to his lips, kissing her knuckles.
'Everything is gonna be alright.'
He smiled and she felt like he knew something she did not. She slid the door open and Akito was surprised to see all the members of the Sohma family. All of them had accepted her invitation. She entered the room and sat down. A huge smile lit up her face. The banquet began. It was the warm, family banquet she had wished for. She could not be happier. It was a new start for their family.
The end
