Chapter 17- Lily's Birthday.

School was quickly coming back too soon as Christmas break was just about over. The kids played quidditch everyday of the break as Harry, Fred, and George wouldn't be allowed to when school started back up. Mr. Weasley had fully recovered from his injuries that he had suffered before the break. Snape came over to Grimmauld Place to tell the Potters that Harry would be starting occlumency lessons at Dumbledore's request at the start of the term. James and Lily didn't have a big problem with this as they had made their peace with Snape. Harry was less enthusiastic about it but with encouragement from his parents he agreed to take lessons with Snape.

The start of this term started out much like how school ended last term but, he had learned from last semester to hold his tongue as Umbridge would give him endless detentions and he was already in enough trouble as is. Snape was still had the same attitude towards him the only thing that changed there is that he had to go every Wednesday night to his classroom and take occlumency lessons with him. Occlumency lessons with Snape weren't going so well as of the time being as he was having trouble trying to block Snape from invading his mind. Dumbledore's Army was going well as the students that were participating in it were progressing nicely. Harry was doing well in the rest of his classes he was doing better in potions and transfiguration as when he needed help with it his parents were always there to help.

In the Potter household December to March was the favourite months for James and Lily. October used to be one of their favourite months because of Halloween but for obvious reasons it was now their least favourite holiday. December to March had some of their most significant dates in it. December was Christmas, January was Lily's birthday, February was valentine's day, and March was James' birthday. Their other month that was their favourite was July as Harry was born that month and they got married that month too. James would always go all out for Lily's birthday and this year was going to be no different.

Harry was excited for his mom's birthday he had gotten her some dresses that she would be able to wear after the pregnancy. Even though Harry wasn't allowed to be there he was still excited for it. Dumbledore would've let Harry go but, Harry had already missed Halloween and they didn't want Umbridge to find anything out. Harry had already sent the dresses with Hedwig to his mother as her birthday was in a couple of days. Harry had been dress shopping with Hermione and Ginny as they helped him pick out what to get at the last Hogsmeade trip. Harry had finally been able to get a date with Cho the only thing that concerned him was that it was on Valentine's Day.

James woke up extra early on Lily's birthday as he had wanted to make sure that this day was perfect for her. James had gotten Harry's package yesterday from Hedwig and wrapped it up for Lily. James got out of bed making sure not to wake her up and went downstairs to make breakfast for her normally on birthday's it would be caviar and champagne in bed but since Lily was pregnant it would still be caviar and instead of champagne it would be sparking cider since she couldn't have alcohol right now.

"Happy Birthday Lils!" James said

Lily woke up and saw what James had made her. "James this is so nice." Lily said.

"I present to you the finest caviar in all of England and the finest champagne that could be found in Great Britain." James said pretending to be a waiter and placing the tray over her as she sat up to eat her breakfast.

"James this looks wonderful but, you know I'm not allowed to have alcohol till the end of my pregnancy." Lily responded.

"Yeah, I know it's actually just sparkling cider." James answered.

"Thank you, kind sir, now come join me in bed and help me finish this wonderful breakfast that you made for me." Lily said motioning James to come join her.

"Is this what you do to all waiters ask them to join you in bed." James joked as he climbed into the bed next to her.

"No, only this waiter do I lure into bed, and I have a hundred percent success rate as of now." Lily said as she kissed James as James started to feed her the caviar.

James and Lily finished the breakfast as they took turns feeding each other even though it was mostly James feeding Lily because he insisted that since it was her birthday, she was to let James do all the work today and Lily was supposed to enjoy herself. James was to be at her beckon call for the whole day and be at her service. James had the whole day planned for her it was going to just the two of them for her birthday and he was going to do whatever it took t make it special for her.

Once they had finished breakfast James had gotten Harry's gift for Lily as Harry would be calling at breakfast time in Hogwarts as he would be busy for the rest of the day. James had gotten Harry's birthday present and Harry on the mirror by the time that Lily was ready for the day.

"Happy birthday mom!" Harry said when he saw her.

"Thanks Harry" Lily replied.

"Is now a good time for you to open my gift?" Harry asked.

"Harry, you didn't have to get me a gift." Lily said when she saw James pull it out.

"Of course, I had to get you something you are my mother after all." Harry responded.

"If you insist." Lily said as James handed her the gift that Harry had got for her. Lily opened it and saw what was inside the package.

"I hope you like them I had Ginny and Hermione help me pick them out on our last Hogsmeade trip. Harry said as she opened the gift

"Harry these dresses are beautiful." Lily said as she saw them. "Thank you so much Harry."

"No problem mom I'm glad that you liked them." Harry said.

"I love them Harry these dresses will be perfect for date night with your father once we're allowed to leave the house and after my pregnancy." Lily said. "Also tell Ginny and Hermione that I love the dresses that they picked out.

"I sure will mom. I've got to go to classes now so Happy birthday mom I'm glad you liked the dresses and I'll see you later." Harry said.

"Bye Harry have a good day at school." James and Lily said together as Harry left to his classes.

Harry had caught Hermione and Ginny at lunch and thanked them for helping him find his mom's birthday present and that she loved the selections that they got for her.

Lily had decided that she wanted to watch the Disney movies that she had gotten for Christmas from Harry. James made sure that she was super comfortable during the movies. For Lily this wasn't much different then any other day except Lily wasn't allowed to refuse James' help. They had finished The Little Mermaid and had started Beauty and the Beast when James got up to make lunch for them. James was making lobster thermidor for lunch and Lily's favourite salad James had the house elves already working on the lobster thermidor. James had helped finish the lobster thermidor and the salad by the time that beauty and the beast had finished lunch was ready to be served.

When Lily saw what James had made for lunch, she was shocked. "James you're going to spoil me rotten. You made me lobster thermidor for lunch today." Lily said lobster thermidor was one of Lily's favourites she only really ate these foods for special events though.

"While you deserve the best." James responded.

James and Lily settled down and ate lunch. Once they had finished lunch, they thanked Percy and Daphne for the lunch and went back to watching the next few Disney movies.

"Is there anything else that you want?" James asked Lily before the movie started.

"No, everything is fine James stop fussing and come snuggle next to me and watch these movies with me." Lily responded.

James finally settled down next to his wife and cuddled up next to her as they watched Aladdin and the Lion King. It was around four when the movies finished. James still hadn't given Lily her gifts that he had gotten for her but, that was going to be after dinner. James had started dinner right after the movie had finished. Lily had gone to take a nap after the movies had finished so it was just James making dinner. Normally James took Lily out for dinner on her birthday but since they weren't allowed to leave James decided to make dinner seem like they were at a restaurant. Once everything was ready James changed into a suit and got the house elves to get Lily up and changed. About half an hour later James knocked on their bedroom door and as Lily stepped out she looked stunning.

"You look stunning tonight, Mrs. Potter." James said.

"You clean up pretty nice as well Mr. Potter." Lily responded.

"Shall we head to dinner?" James asked holding his arm out for her.

"Yes, we shall." Lily responded taking James's arm.

Lily was stunned when she saw what James had planned for tonight. He had planned a candlelight dinner for her and there were even menus on the table.

"James this is perfect!" Lily said excitedly.

Dinner was a cheese plater to start with the main course was steak and potatoes and dessert was a cake that James had made for Lily. Once dinner was done James brought out the present that he had gotten Lily. Lily opened the present to find James had gotten her a necklace and some other jewellery.

"James these are so beautiful this must have cost you a fortune." Lily said.

"Actually, it didn't cost me a anything these were family heirlooms and now I want you to have them now." James explained.

"Oh, James thank you so much." Lily replied.

"Happy Birthday Lils!" James said.
