"Do you really have to go?" Historia asked lazily as she nuzzled into the boy's chest.
"You know this as much as I do" Eren responded as he gently raised the blonde's head to look her in the eyes.
Right at dawn, just as the sun began to rise, it was time for him to depart. The girl was sad about it, but deep down she knew he was right. Eren put his hand on her shoulder and kissed the top of her head.
"Promise me" she asked shakily, trying to hold the tears back "promise me you'll be back…"
"I promise" Eren replied as he slowly stood up and readied himself for what was to come.
As Historia remembered the last moment they had spent together, she looked in the distance. She's been standing at the top of the wall in Trost for quite some time, hoping to see the scouts as they returned. It was a late morning already and the girl was getting anxious.
"Your majesty" Historia suddenly heard from behind.
She turned to look at the newcomer. It was a young female MP with light brownish hair.
"Is it really that easy to tell?" Historia asked with resignation.
She wore her uniform for the occasion but didn't use any regalia in hopes of getting some peace.
"You're the queen" the girl replied with a soft smile "someone could say that you're pretty popular within these walls."
"Yeah" Historia retorted "so… what is a policeman like you doing so far into the exterior?"
The female raised one of her eyes.
"It's Hitch Dreyse, your majesty" she responded, "the more interesting question would be what is the queen doing so far away from the capital?"
Historia looked down at that. Her real reason was supposed to remain a secret for now.
"Are you by any chance, waiting for someone special?"
This question completely threw the queen off.
"W-why would you think that…?" Historia asked, trying to hide her blush.
Hitch smiled, looking at the poor attempt.
"Well," she started "I'm waiting for a special someone myself. That's why."
"Oh…" Historia didn't really know how to respond to that.
She looked in the distance to watch the sun slowly go up. Hitch snorted.
"He was always a bit off in the head" the female MP started "an invalid idealist would be the best way to describe him."
Historia suddenly deadpanned at the other girl.
"Are we perhaps, thinking about the same person?" She said with a grim tone.
Hitch just laughed out loud.
"I highly doubt it" she said smiling "he was always slow with girls…"
"Again" the annoyed blonde started "are you sure he's not the same guy?"
Hitch just grinned at her.
"What do you know" the female exclaimed "suicide bastards had always been cool."
Historia sighed as she closed her eyes. What had just come over her?
"I guess you're right" she said.
The two girls stood atop the wall in silence.
"He is a good man" Hitch Dreyse started "he was an MP like me, but… he changed assignment…"
This surprised the young queen. She looked at the other female with wide eyes.
"An MP transferring into the survey corps?" Historia asked disbelievingly.
"Yeah" the other girl responded with a soft smile "sounds crazy, right? But this is just the way he is…"
The blonde pondered on that.
"I think I know what you mean…"
Silence filled the air once again.
"He will be back" Hitch exclaimed quietly "those kinds of people are too stubborn to die…"
Historia didn't want to know what she would do if something like this happened to Eren. The boy bid his farewell right after he confessed his love to her. Now, that she needed him the most, he just vanished.
"Your majesty?" A new voice suddenly spoke out.
The two women turned around to face a red-haired, garrison soldier.
"What is it, Floch?" Historia asked her fellow trainee.
"The lookout team has just returned" He exclaimed "they're saying the scouts are back, victorious!"
The girl suddenly felt happiness swell inside her. She turned to look at the horizon.
In the distance, a small number of mounted soldiers were riding towards the gate.
"So few…" Hitch exclaimed with shock in her voice.
As the soldiers came closer, the two females could finally see who exactly was coming back.
"Marlowe…" the young MP whispered, with tears of happiness in her eyes.
But Historia didn't register anything the other girl was saying.
Eren was coming back. The blonde felt the feeling of relief wash over her. Other than looking tired, he seemed to be okay. Historia proceeded to look at the others. They were carrying Sasha on a cart, but otherwise, none of them looked injured. In the front, Erwin was riding along with Hange and Dina.
Then, it hit her. Armin was nowhere to be found.
As the cheers erupted from the district behind her, she was looking towards the rising elevator. When the scouts stepped off to the wall, Eren finally saw her. Despite the sadness in his eyes, he smiled for his beloved. She walked over to the waiting soldiers.
"Your majesty" all of them said as they genuflected before her.
"No need for that" Historia replied "I'm kind of incognito right now…"
The scouts stood up when she said that.
"I couldn't bring myself to wait in the palace" she started "I assume wall Maria has been retaken."
"Yes, your majesty" Erwin responded as he looked down "we suffered severe losses…"
Those kinds of news were to be expected. Historia never thought about the possibility of it, because all she worried about was Eren, but now she understood what huge losses really meant.
"However," the commander continued as he took out three old-looking books "we've come to possess the ultimate proof to what Dina Yeager was telling us before."
So, it's finally been confirmed. The young queen felt relief again. Now, they could just announce the information officially, not just as a theory written in the lesser newspapers.
"And most importantly" Erwin exclaimed "we've taken over the power of the colossal titan."
