The joyful music, drinking and dancing all night weren't exactly the kind of things Eren was accustomed to. The wedding was taking place in one of the finer inns within the interior and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Aside from the families, many soldiers have been invited. Currently, Jean was having a drinking game with Connie, and all other scouts were cheering.

'They look so happy' Eren thought as he drank from his glass.

It didn't even take a full month for Marlowe and Hitch to plan everything out. With the extensive help from their friends, they managed to organize the wedding pretty quickly. The marriage took place earlier today, in one of the churches.

Eren once again thought about everything that happened. When the government confirmed the theories about the outside world, most people took it well. Thanks to Armin's press campaign, they didn't have much trouble with digesting the news about Marley, Eldia and everything else about their nation.

The titan slaughterers worked day and night, and the survey corps expected that by the time winter had ended, all the pure titans within the wall would be taken care of. The merchants were readying themselves for the recovery of the lost lands, and everyone else was happy, despite the threat from beyond the sea.

"Eren" he suddenly heard.

The young man in question turned around to see the very person he feared to meet the most.

"Would you like a dance?" Historia asked him with a smile, extending her hand.

It turned out that Hitch made a friend, while she was waiting for Marlowe to return. The two females seemed to have gotten close, and so the bride invited the queen to the wedding as well.

Eren looked behind the blonde to see his friends giving him thumbs up from the table. He really had no way to run from this one. As the band concluded with playing the joyous, fast-paced song, a slow, romantic waltz could be heard within the hall.

He gently took the queen's hand and led her to the dancefloor.

"Are you okay?" Historia whispered as they were dancing "we've barely seen each other lately…"

Eren looked around. Every other couple seemed to be enamoured with the music, focusing on the dance. His royal blonde picked the right moment to corner him and talk without anyone listening.

"I'm okay" he said softly "you don't need to worry about me…"

"I know you're lying" the girl responded with furrowed brows.

Eren sighed at that. He didn't want to hide anything from his beloved, but right now, he wasn't able to tell her the whole truth. All the guilt he was feeling, wouldn't let him.

"It's nothing, okay?" Eren exclaimed as he tried to avoid the topic "let's just dance for now…"

The girl wasn't happy with his response but complied, nonetheless.

The dance itself seemed like a dream to Eren. The slow music, the soft movement on the dancefloor and Historia herself were the very things the young man wished to let himself be immersed in. Her lithe body so close to his, her soft skin he was touching, and her laboured breaths were just some of the things he was missing.

But what he missed the most, was being able to spend his time with her, his time which was the very thing he had too little of.

The curse of Ymir was something Dina had told them about earlier, but he didn't comprehend it fully until he saw the memories of his father. But even more than that, there was something way more disturbing lurking within the power of the attack titan.

As the music ended, Eren couldn't bear with all these feelings anymore.

"I'm sorry" he said as he left the dumbstruck girl standing.

He needed some fresh air. The inn had an inside garden which would serve perfectly for the job. He sat on one of the benches to look at the night sky.

Everything was happening so quick. Eren didn't know why the situation was about to turn all sour for the Paradis Island. He spent the last month thinking and to his unfortune the young man didn't see how he could make it any better. Every other possibility seemed to be dooming the whole nation.

"Eren" once again, he heard the same voice.

The tired shifter looked up to see his beloved. However, instead of being angry, Historia looked worried.

"Please" she begged him as she sat next to him "tell me what's going on…"

Eren knew this was coming. In his mind, he prepared himself for what was inevitable.

"Historia" he started "a month ago, during the ceremony, when I kissed your hand, something unusual happened…"

"Did you see a memory?" She asked him softly.

"I've seen moments from just before my father killed the Reiss family."

Historia was silent. Even though he knew she didn't blame his father for killing Frieda, the girl still missed her sister.

"Okay" she slowly replied, "is that all?"

"No" he continued "what I've seen…"

Eren turned to look her in the eyes.

"I saw the future…"

Shock was plastered all over Historia's face.

"You saw… the future?" She asked him disbelievingly.

The young man sighed once again.

"The power of the attack titan is the power to break all kinds of limits" he said the same thing Dina told them before "one of those limits is the time itself."

The girl was listening in silence. It seemed as if all this was surpassing her understanding.

"Sometimes I see memories from the past holders… Sometimes I see snippets of what might happen in the future…"

"What... might happen...?" Historia asked surprised.

Eren looked down.

"The future is not set in stone" he explained "it's changing constantly, due to our actions. The attack titan is not almighty, its power cannot simply change the flow of time by some kind of crazy wish."

"However, the holder of this power has the ability to foresee events to some extent and use that knowledge to change how things are going to go."

Silence fell between the couple as the realization hit the girl.

"So" she started "this means we can actually save the island?!"

Eren nodded at her. As Historia saw that, a feeling of relief sprawled over her face.

"This is great news!" The blonde said as she stood up "we have to tell others!"

"Wait!" Eren cried out, stopping her from running to tell the other scouts about his revelation.

She looked back at him with surprise.

"You can't tell anyone" he spoke "otherwise, you'll botch it…"

"Why…?" She asked disbelievingly "do you… do you not want to save the island…?"

"The path I've chosen to take is the path of war" he explained "we might even have to fight between ourselves to achieve the freedom we've dreamt about…"

"What are you saying…?" the girl asked with shock in her voice.

"Historia" he said looking right at her "if you want to save our people, you have to trust me…"

"I do" she replied, "I could become the enemy of the whole humanity if you needed me to be so... I swear..."

This brought hope into Eren's heart. But he needed to make sure of something else yet.

"My father didn't just murder you family…" he explained as he prepared for the hurt that would come soon "I made him do it…"

The girl just looked at him blankly, as if waiting for some kind of explanation. Again, silence filled the air.

"So" the blonde started once she saw that he wasn't going to elaborate "you used your power to travel back to the past and convinced your father to kill them, right?"

Eren widened his eyes in surprise as he saw that she wasn't hurting.

"Aren't you…?"

"Eren" she said as she sat down for the second time "my family wasn't much of a family to me anyway. And Frieda had died once she took over the power of the founding titan. If anything, you helped us all…"

"Oh…"

"Sometimes" Historia continued as she looked at the night sky "sometimes I see her in you… I don't know how to explain this, maybe it's related to you inheriting her memories. However, I do believe that within you, she lives on, somehow…"

"So, you're not hurt…?" He asked her "Historia, I doomed her! Why aren't you mad at me?!"

The girl just smiled at Eren and kissed him, before he could do anything.

"Maybe I am" she explained slowly "but I love you more than that… So please… You don't have to keep any secrets from me…"

The young man smiled at that. He was sure he could lean on his queen.

"Alright" he said "but before I tell you everything… I believe you're hiding something from me as well…"

The girl blushed at that and looked down.

"So, you saw it too, huh?" Historia said and steeled herself for what she was about to say.

"Eren, you're going to be a father…"
