Thank you for all of the wonderful reviews!

I'm sure when there is finally time, Sans and Alphys are going to have a field day with all of these mysteries. If only Fearia could stay out of trouble until then! (wishful thinking...)

Waterfall's a beautiful if not scary place, so I've tried to make it as realistic as possible.

As the two children neared the festive two story house, Fearia slowed to a stop and frowned. She couldn't help but feel slightly nervous. Making the two skeletons upset with her was near the very bottom of the list of things she wanted to do. But still...

"Wait here, ok? I'll be right back!"

"W- wait, ...you live here?" The lizard kid watched in wide eyed bafflement as the little bunny kit rushed inside the two story house. Wasn't this where the skeletons lived? Did she know them? Personally?

After leaving Sans and Papyrus a quick informative map with a few words she had learned earlier that morning, Fearia zoomed back outside. There! Now in the very unlikely event that they somehow got back before she did, they wouldn't worry too much. She felt a bit better now.

With that done, the little girl felt lighter as she bravely led the way towards Waterfall. She was starting to feel a bit giddy with excitement. It had been nearly a day and a half since she was outside. That was too long! She needed to stretch her legs.

"H- hey, wait up!" The lizard kid called as he tried to keep up with his new friend. Why did snow rabbits have to be so fast? She knew about the blizzard up ahead, didn't she? Maybe that kind of thing didn't bother snow bunnies. Willing his legs to move a bit faster in order to keep up proved to be his downfall. Quite literally.

"Oof!"

Skidding to a stop, Fearia looked behind her. The boy had fallen face first into the snow while Poff sat next to him panting happily. "Are you okay?" That looked like it hurt.

The monster kid pulled himself from the snow and somehow got back to his feet with very little difficulty. "Don't worry!" He reassured as he shook the snow off. "This happens all the time."

"It does? How come?" Fearia asked as she came back to help him brush the rest of the snow off of his striped shirt.

"Uh." The boy flushed a bit in embarrassment at being fussed over. "Balance isn't really my thing."

"We can just walk then." Fearia offered as she gave him an understanding smile. The boy returned the smile in gratitude and they resumed at a slightly slower pace. Well, except for Poff, who was still bouncing ahead eagerly, tail wagging nonstop.

Once the two children emerged from the whiteout conditions that seemed to only happen right before the entrance to Waterfall, they stopped to take the time to shake the snow off. In front of them, a wide cave mouth loomed menacingly. The stalactites hanging from above and the stalagmites jutting up from the rocks below eerily resembled the sharp fangs of a beast.

"This is Waterfall?" Fearia frowned as she brought her mittened hands up to her chest.

"Yep." The lizard boy grinned as he admired the scenery. "This place is so cool. No wonder Undyne lives here."

"It looks dark..." The small human pointed out as she stared into the open maw of the cave. This wasn't what she had been expecting when he said "Waterfall." If he had said, for example "creepy dark cave" she might have had second thoughts about coming. But now she was already here! She couldn't just go back...

Looking down at the small bunny kit, the boy laughed a little. She looked so brave before, but now he could tell, she really was just a little kid. "Did you change your mind?" He teased. "Wanna head back?"

Fearia shot the boy a glare before puffing out her cheeks sulkily. He was making fun of her! "No!" She snapped. "I'm going to go find Undyne." With that said, the determined child stomped into the cavern.

The monster kid chuckled as he followed after the bunny kit. Maybe she really was brave. Or maybe she was just stubborn. Either way, he was happy to have someone to hang out with. Adults were boring and there weren't any kids his age that shared his interests. Not that he knew of anyway. He vaguely wondered where she had come from. He couldn't remember ever seeing her in Snowdin before. But, weren't all snow rabbits from Snowdin? Weird.

Fearia was delighted to learn that it wasn't really that dark inside the cavern. The rocky walls were studded with luminescent gems that lit everything up beautifully. It wasn't nearly as cold inside Waterfall but the damp draftiness of the place made her want to burrow even deeper into her warm clothing.

The constant dripping sounds echoed off the cave walls creating a rather unique ambiance. Joining in, there was also the occasional sound of trickling water from cracks in the stone. Where was all of this water coming from? Was this cave under a lake or something? The thought made Fearia feel a little uneasy. She was glad she wasn't alone right now.

Coming to a room that was a bit brighter, the little girl's eyes instantly zeroed in on a familiar looking sentry station. Didn't that belong to Sans? She could recognize it anywhere! It even still had snow on the roof. How did it get here?

Rushing over to the guard station disguised as a food stall, the tiny child clambered onto the counter to look inside. It really was Sans' station. The strange bottles of mysterious substances were still messily tucked under the counter.

"Phew! He's not here." The monster kid sighed in relief as he joined the little bunny kit flopped over the counter. "What are you doing? Better not touch anything, he could be back any second."

Sliding off the counter and back onto her feet, Fearia cocked her head. "Do you know Sans?"

"You mean the skeleton that sits here and pretends to be sleeping? Is that his name?" The monster kid wondered aloud. "No. I don't really know him. But every time I try to get by here, he always catches me! Then he makes me answer a dumb riddle if I want to get past him. They're always way too hard. When I answer wrong, he tells me to go home!"

Fearia giggled aloud. That was just like Sans. "Well, he's not here now. So let's go."

The yellow lizard boy grinned. "We might actually get to see Undyne today."

After narrowly dodging falling chunks of ice that were tumbling down a shallow river, the two children stopped to catch their breath on the other side. That was scary! Why was there ice? If they had been unlucky in any way they might have been knocked off the nearby ledge.

Poff let out a happy bark. He had found the experience entertaining. Who doesn't love running through water? Shaking his fluffy fur dry, the little white monster pranced in place impatiently.

Finding their way through a clump of tall reeds, the two children stumbled into a large open cavern. The little girl was amazed to find that it was filled with tons of pink flowers. They floated lazily on top of the water in the streams crisscrossing the room.

"Wow, pretty..."

"You can walk on them, too." The monster kid informed as he led the way to a small bridge of water lilies. He swayed a little as he stepped onto the plant, but it easily held his weight. "See? Neat, huh?"

Fearia watched as the yellow lizard boy carefully made his way to the other side of a small stream. That looked fun, but... Peering into the water, she couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. How deep was this stream? Was it over her head? What if she fell in?

"You coming or not?" The boy asked as he was joined by Poff. The small dog had bounced across the blooms like it was nothing. "Don't worry, they'll hold your weight. I mean, they held my weight and I'm probably heavier than you are. Come on." He urged.

Steeling herself, Fearia put on a brave face and slowly moved her weight onto one of the flowers. It barely even moved an inch. A smile crept onto the little girl's lips as she moved to the next bloom. This wasn't scary at all!

Poff greeted the small child once she had successfully made it to the other side of the flower bridge. Licking her hand, he was rewarded with a head pat and a "Good, Poff." The white puffball barked happily before leading the way to the next area.

"A long time ago, monsters would whisper their wishes to the stars in the sky..."

"Huh?" Fearia looked around trying to locate the source of the whispering. She didn't see anyone else other than her two friends. Who had said that?

"If you hoped with all your heart, your wish would come true..."

The whispering seemed to be coming from a strange blue flower growing from the cave floor. It was nearly as tall as a sunflower, the small child observed, as its glowing petals loomed over her head. Was it really talking?

"Now, all we have are these sparkling stones on the ceiling..."

Looking up, Fearia was figuratively star-struck by what she saw. Thousands of sparkling crystals twinkled and glowed from high up on the cavern ceiling. It really did resemble the night sky in some way. "Whoa..."

"This is the Wishing Room." The monster kid informed proudly. For some reason, it felt kinda nice being able to share all of these cool places with someone who'd obviously never seen them before. He kind of felt like a tour guide.

"Yeah, that's what the plaque says." Fearia giggled as she pointed to the ancient glyph chiseled into the stone wall. Tiny luminescent gems had been used to create the words so they glowed brightly in the dark.

Deflating slightly, the lizard boy cocked his head as he looked from the rabbit kit to the old cave carvings. "You can read that?"

"Yes?" Fearia frowned. "Can't you?"

"No, nobody can!" The monster kid replied. "Who taught you to read the ancient glyphs?"

"My sister taught me how to read." Fearia smiled happily. "She's really smart."

"She must be. Is she a scientist or something?"

"What's a scientist?" Fearia felt her brow crease slightly. How come there were so many tough words in the Underground?

The monster kid didn't know how to answer that question, instead he just gave the little girl a weird look. She was kind of strange. Even for a snow rabbit, she was kind of strange. Who doesn't know what a scientist is?

"What are these?" Fearia asked as she walked up to another blue flower.

"Thousands of people wishing together can't be wrong!" A voice said with muted enthusiasm. "The king will prove that."

"Oh, these are Echo Flowers." The monster kid grinned as he leaned close to a flower. "They repeat the last thing they hear."

"They repeat the last thing they hear."

Amber eyes widened, as she heard the flower faithfully repeat her friend's words. "They repeat anything?"

"They repeat anything?"

Gasping, the tiny child looked back to the flower she was standing next to. "This is amazing!"

"This is amazing!"

The monster kid laughed as he watched the little girl play around with the echo flowers. Guess she wasn't that strange. Everyone loved doing this.

As they walked through the Wishing Room, a gentle whisper caught Fearia's attention.

"I wish my sister and I will see the real stars someday..."

That earnest wish seemed to tug at the small child's heartstrings. That person must love their sister as much as she loved Frisk. The little girl couldn't help but feel saddened. She was really starting to miss her sister. What was she doing right now? Was she worried? Knowing her... she must be.

Walking up to one of the Echo Flowers, Fearia decided to make her very own wish.

I wonder what she wished for?

...

In the next chapter, Fearia finally realizes how big and scary Waterfall really is.

Is it too late to turn back?
