The Deserter
Fire Nation Colonies
We walk along a road and they look at the totem with a poster for a festival on it. While they look at it I get a feeling of being watched by someone in the shrubbery. However, this feeling is quickly stolen when I see the Wanted Posters. There are five of them, one of me, two soldiers, the Blue Spirit/Zuko, and Aang. Sokka quickly brings them up," You might want to rethink that, there is a Wanted Poster for both you and Ezra."
" I don't think that will be their main concern the Festival may provide a cover for us to slip in, learn some things, and we aren't going to be their main concern seeing as these two seem to be bigger problems for the Fire Nation," I say with a sense of optimism and point to the other wanted posters of the two Fire Nation Soldiers. Sokka however, is still huffing and puffing over the festival but is outvoted.
"There is most likely going to be free food Sokka." Which is my final card to convince him of going to the festival. This convinces him to run onto Appa as we fly closer to the town. I throw Aang a cloak to help conceal him since his clothes are a dead giveaway to his poster. As I raise the hood of my cloak he orders Appa and Momo to stay hidden. We walk into the village with minimal hassle. We see that everyone is wearing a mask and we quickly grab one from a nearby stand. Though for me I grab the most artistic as a keepsake for Sabine when I am reunited with her. We quickly see a stand with food which both I and Sokka run for seeing as our rationing of food has made us hungry along the journey. Though neither of us knows what it is I quickly down it despite the spiciness of it, while Sokka coughs it up due to the heat. For which I quickly grab another and walk off to find some other food stands. I grabbed a series of Fire Nation foods to feed myself seeing as I had eaten very little for the journey. Then I see something happening in the distance on a stage when I see Aang on it and doing something to help save Katara when it backfires and turns out to be an illusion. Which causes us to run out of the center in which I quickly follow them to get away from the troops that are attempting to box us into an alleyway. We then pick up a straggler who helps us flee on the back of Appa.
Chey explains how he is a deserter and followed General Jeong Jeong out of the Fire Nation army. Though he seems ecstatic to take Aang to meet Jeong Jeong. We're surrounded by guerillas who scold Chey and escort us to their camp. Which we walk to silently as we are granted a shack to sleep in till morning and then we will set off to the Northern Water Tribe. While we wait Chey returns in which Aang asks him," What Happened, Can I see Jeong Jeong now?"
Chey enters dejectedly," He won't See you. He's very angry I brought you here. He wants you to leave immediately."
Sokka rises," Finally, let's hit the road."
"Why won't he see me," Aang asks?
" Says you're not ready, you haven't mastered Waterbending and Earthbending yet," Chey explains.
" How does he know that," Aang asks?
" He saw the way you walked into camp, He can tell," Chey proclaims, " Though he wishes to speak with you, Master Jedi." I am startled by this.
" I will speak with him tomorrow," I say simply brushing it off. While Aang walks out to speak with him. In which I go to sleep however a feeling of a battle feels to be readying, far from here a battle far away. Then I feel what feels as though a shriek in the Force that catches me off guard. I search through the force and then I feel Jedha is screaming out to the force in pain.
When I awaken the feeling of Jedha is still there however I groggily enter Jeong Jeong's hut in the early hours. He notices me as I sit in a meditative stance. He speaks," Thank you for meeting me, Master Jedi. We in the Fire Nation hold you in the highest of esteem. Though I have found something I wish to give you." He pulls his hand into his clothes and pulls a blue cube. Which I recognize as a Holocron. " This is a family heirloom that I was given when my ancestor met a Jedi of old, Your Grandfather." I quickly examine the cube seeing the intricacies of the Holocron with the golden trim. This statement quickly catches my eye as he continues," I have been told of you by a friend traveling northwards. He caught your display of power when you were in his former temple." I then realize he is talking about Shyu.
" Thank you, Master Jeong Jeong," I say with a quick word as I walk out of the hut. I see Aang arrive preparing to start his Firebending Lessons which to me is still too early. I quickly find a quiet place to focus and concentrate upon the gift from him. In which it opens I quickly focus on the Lightsaber techniques which all are quickly learned though not mastered since this will take time. I turn my attention to focusing again on the ability to detect Shatterpoints as described in Kreia's Holocron as I had while at the abbey. While feeling through the force. I feel Aang's frustration towards Jeong Jeong growing though it does not explain what is going on as I walk back to camp I see Aang walking back from somewhere. In which he enters the hut that Jeong Jeong is in. When all of a sudden Sokka walks up to me," What is it Sokka?"
" I just wanted to know how you are doing so what's up," Sokka inquires?
"Something is about to happen. I have felt it since our encounter with Jet the Force is in motion so much in fact that I have never felt it like this," I say.
"Are we in danger or is this a good thing," Sokka hesitantly asks?
" Both I don't know fully but I am soon about to be hunted by the Empire which I have assumed for a while but have recently been given clues that it is someone from my past but not an Inquisitor. However, another issue is the Force is screaming. I felt it last night a searing pain in the force as though someone screaming in pain coming from a planet I have heard of called Jedha."
" I don't understand the mysticism of the Force but why didn't you tell me about this person coming after you," Sokka asks angrily?
" Because I haven't had a lot to go off of and all I know is that someone would eventually go after me but I didn't focus on it until recently because these feelings in the force have been pushing me but I don't know who or rather what is hunting me," I explain to Sokka as he still seems both annoyed and confused.
" I may not understand Ezra but you have to be careful next to Aang you're the only person who is capable enough to protect Katara and us as a whole. Though next time tell me about your premonitions, feelings, or otherwise because most of the time you're right," Sokka says with a calmness.
" Wait What was that last part I thought you told me 'I am right,'" I say with a smile stretching across my face in which Sokka realizes his mistake.
" The key part was most of the time you are right though this isn't one of them," Sokka's annoyance is followed by Katara screaming which turns our gaze to see Aang having firebend. Having burned Katara's hands with the burns on her hands showing as Sokka yelled at Aang with the fun and humor from a few minutes vanished into the protectiveness that Sokka often has shown for Katara pouring out. Sokka finally lets him go while we prep Appa for travel Aang is busy helping Jeong Jeong as we prep for the next leg of our journey to the North Pole. Which we pick Aang up and fly off to the Northern Water Tribe.
