"Your majesty" Erwin started once the talks had concluded "are you sure about that?"
"Absolutely" the queen replied "Eren can handle the protection of our island for the time being."
The commander didn't seem too convinced by her reasoning. It was too early for him to determine whether Historia's proposal was genuine or not. Even though, it still seemed suspicious.
"I think it's a wonderful idea" Dina interjected "there is a good possibility that the other nations will be swayed once they meet you, Erwin."
The man looked down upon that. He knew that she was overestimating his abilities.
"I'm not a miracle maker" he stated "it is unlikely they will join our cause because they met me…"
"Oh, come on, Erwin" Dina pleaded, putting an arm on his shoulder "you have to give it a go…"
Eren watched as the whole affair unveiled before his eyes. In his mind's eye, he already knew the commander's decision.
The scouts waved at the departing delegation. The Eldian representatives would travel around the world and try to find new allies.
"What a beautiful day" Hange exclaimed with a little drop of tear in her only eye.
"I'm not the fan of slacking off, but Erwin definitely deserves a respite" Levi said in his usual tone.
Once all the needed serum had been made and the Paradisians had been assured of the island's safety, the ship has set out to reach the unknown lands. It took nearly a year to prepare everything but right now, they were ready for the long journey.
Eren and Historia brought their son to the dock as well.
"Bye-bye!" Little Armin cried out as he waved his hand at the departing ship.
The sight was very heart-warming to everyone present. The young prince seemed to be the people's favourite, mostly due to him being very eager to visit along his mother.
"Let's go" Eren exclaimed picking up his son.
"Daddy, where did they go?" The boy asked him.
"Away" the young shifter responded simply.
Thanks to the efforts of the military people, they had the opportunity to return to the capital with the help of the newly installed railway. It was marvellous how quickly the island was changing. It wasn't that long ago that they would use horses for travelling. And now, the iron locomotive powered by coal, carried them through the whole journey home.
As the slow engine drove forward, Eren looked towards the setting sun. From now on, they needed to time all things right, otherwise they would face undesirable resistance. Thanks to Historia's doing, the newly appointed officers of the military police brigade were extremely loyal to the crown. It was essentially the most important part, since the survey corps was extremely limited at the moment.
He looked again at his family. Little Armin fell asleep during the long journey and now was snoozing peacefully. His beloved was looking at the orange sky. Upon seeing that he was staring, Historia turned her head to look into his eyes.
"What is it?" She asked him curiously.
Eren averted his gaze.
"It's nothing" he responded "everything is just happening so fast…"
The blonde woman put her hand on his shoulder.
"Nothing lasts forever" Historia said, "I wish it could… but I know we're happy."
Having heard that, Eren smiled. He moved closer and kissed the top of her head.
It was high time to put his plan into motion.
"What's it all about?" Connie asked.
All of Eren's friends had been called for a private meeting in the family house on the Reiss estate. None of the participants seemed to have known what it was for, yet all showed up, nonetheless.
"I hadn't been told either" Jean exclaimed "Mikasa, did Eren perhaps tell you something?"
The dark-haired girl shook her head at that.
Suddenly, the royal couple entered the room.
"Thank you all for coming in here" Eren said "I assume you haven't spoken about this with the officers, have you?"
"No" Connie affirmed.
"I don't understand why, but I kept quiet" Sasha exclaimed with blatant honesty.
Eren took a deep breath.
"What I'm about to tell you" he started "must stay between us."
"You got it!" Connie exclaimed.
"Sure" Jean promised "if that's what you want…"
This was it. He would finally take Dina's piece of advice from long ago and tell his friends everything.
"About two years ago" Eren spoke "I saw the future."
All of the people except for Historia widened their eyes at that. It wasn't the best sentence to start with, but Eren needed to break it to them in some way.
"I know it may sound unreal" he explained "but this is the true power of the attack titan."
As the surprise transformed into disbelief, the young shifter continued.
"What matters, is that I saw what would happen if we stuck to the plan proposed by Zeke. I saw all the possibilities, but none of them would end in this island surviving the incoming war."
"So, you're saying that all the measures the military is taking are pointless?" Jean asked with a shocked expression.
"It depends on what you're talking about" Eren explained "some of the actions have been taken by Historia's initiative."
On that, everyone looked towards the queen. Said woman sighed out.
"I believe Eren" she said "and you should as well. We cannot proceed further, unless all of you trust him."
That left the scouts thinking. Eren has been their friend for a long time and even if he had his secrets, he never let them down before.
"I will" Mikasa exclaimed "no matter what it is."
"If the two of you say so, I'm with Eren too" Sasha spoke.
"Well," Connie said hesitantly "I really want to know what it is, so…"
Everyone looked at Jean. The man in question closed his eyes with an annoyed expression.
"Damn you, Yeager" he cursed "why do you always have to be so cool…?"
"Thank you all" Eren said "now, I will tell you everything about our plan."
His friends suddenly looked at him with surprise.
"What plan?" Connie asked.
"A plan to save Eldia."
