As Dina reached the deck of the airship, she nearly collapsed to the ground.

What she had just done was beyond horrible. Whenever she thought about fighting for her people, she always imagined that she would fight the Marleyans or some other enemy nation. But this. This was something way different.

The idea to use this ability on the inhabitants of Liberio was actually Zeke's idea. Dina knew that it was necessary, if she ever wanted to get her son back, but it didn't sit right with her from the very beginning.

The blonde woman had spent the whole day distributing wine. She had seen the face of every single one of her victims. Dina tried to discard from her mind any happy expressions, laughs and smiles they had given her throughout the festival. Yet, the only thing she was seeing right now, was the horrifying view of the fixed faces of pure titans she had summoned.

"How are you holding up?" Someone suddenly asked her.

As she raised her head up, she could see that it was Erwin.

"What do you think?" Dina asked looking down, yet again.

Erwin put a hand on her shoulder.

"I understand" he said slowly "he's here…"

So, her son was already on board with them. She had so much to say to him.

"Alright…" Dina exclaimed as she wiped the single tear off her face "lead the way."

The blonde female was hurting, but she needed to pull herself together, at least for now.

As she entered the detention space, she finally saw her son again. Twenty-two long years was a long time and at that moment, Dina felt the tears come to her eyes.

"Zeke…" she exclaimed upon entering.

The man in question turned to look at her. Time didn't treat him well, as his face already had the feel of an old man. His blonde hair was dishevelled, and his glasses gave him a weird, intellectual look.

"Zeke, I'm so…"

"Stop" he suddenly interjected "whatever you want to say, won't change what already happened."

Dina momentarily felt sick for some reason. What was this feeling?

"Zeke, please" she exclaimed with a shaky voice "just hear me out…"

He averted his gaze. It was as if he felt angry by even looking at her.

"Do you know why I asked for you to be the one to summon the titans?" Her son slowly asked.

"What do you mean…?" Her breath became short, as if all the guilt and stress was suffocating her.

"I had known you would have done it" he started "because of your will to throw everything you care about into fire…"

This sentence crushed Dina like a hammer. She desperately tried to stay on her feet, but her shaking was visible, now.

"But eventually, it proved useful to the cause" Zeke exclaimed, as he yet again, turned to look her in the eyes "I just wanted to ask you this. How does all of that blood on your hands feel?"

Dina was speechless. Even if she tried, she couldn't mutter a single word.

"These are some big words from you" Erwin spoke, stepping in between them.

"You must be commander Erwin" the blonde warrior said, "it's good to finally meet you."

"It's general, as of now" he responded with an angry look, "and we've met before."

"Oh" Zeke exclaimed with a surprised tone "when was that?"

"Probably the time when you threw some rocks at me and nearly killed all of my men."

"Yeah" the warrior replied looking up "I remember now. That was an excellent charge. Levi nearly got me."

"And you nearly got me, too" Erwin exclaimed "and don't try to make yourself sound innocent. We still remember about the people of Ragako."

"Huh?"

"The civilians which woke up one day just to be turned into titans."

"Yeah" Zeke responded glaring daggers at Dina "I couldn't really help myself. I mean, I'm her spawn after all…"

"That's enough" a new voice suddenly spoke out.

As the blonde female looked at the newcomer, she saw that it was captain Levi.

"Oh, it's you" the warrior said as he turned to look at the man "I've been getting anxious about our little rencounter for weeks. It must've been tough for you, not to kill me back then."

"Consider yourself lucky" the short captain spoke with anger in his voice "we've suffered quite a few casualties because you decided to throw more rocks."

The atmosphere was indeed grim. Officers started accusing Zeke of causing all of the 'inaccuracies and miscalculations', yet the former warrior was doing his best to stand his ground.

But no words could reach Dina at this moment. Her world was crumbling like a house of cards. She had already lost her husband and two sons. But she never actually bothered to slow down and think about how little connection she had to this world.

"I'm sorry, Zeke…" she whispered quietly.

Everyone in the room turned to look at her.

"I'm sorry…" the blonde woman repeated slowly as tears welled up in her eyes "I'm a bad mother…"

"Dina…" Erwin started with worry in his voice.

But she never bothered to listen to the rest of the tirade. She needed to get away from there as fast as she could. So, she ran.

There weren't many places on the airship that she could use to get some space, so she just went to what she could only call the roof.

As Dina was standing there, feeling all the air around her, she looked to the side. There was an ocean below her. She wondered how cold it would be if she decided to jump down, right now. Would it be soothing around her, or would the icy water burn her like a fire, which she most likely deserved.

Then, something changed. Dina looked forward.

The sun rose from below the horizon. It was a new day. The orange tint painted the sky in the most beautiful way imaginable.

'This isn't over yet' the blonde woman decided as she crawled back into the airship 'I'll find a way to make things right.'
