As Dina stomped over Reiner, she took some time to assert their situation. Nearly all of the enemy paratroopers had been eliminated by soldiers loyal to the officers and Zeke's barrage fire. All of the airships were slowly burning on the ground. Marcel was still trapped within a crystal prison, and the cart titan was engaged in a fight with Eren's friends.
There weren't that many enemy troops to begin with. Dina could only guess that was the maximum the Marleyan military could gather for an external operation, right now. She looked down on Reiner, who was desperately trying to throw her over.
'Useless' she thought as she pinned him down harder 'don't you know that…'
Suddenly, everything around them changed.
The ground started shaking and golden lightning bolts struck the position where Zeke was, just a moment ago. The sky turned to the angry red colour and dark clouds covered the sun.
Cracks appeared all over the walls, and some of the hardened material started to fall off.
Momentarily, every little piece of the hardened walls crumbled down.
After over a hundred years, all of the titans, hidden within, finally saw the light of day.
'What is going on?' She asked herself.
A moment later, the titans started marching.
The realization hit her hard.
'They managed to overcome the king's vow.'
Suddenly, a cloud of smoke erupted from beneath her. As Dina looked down, she noticed that Reiner managed to get away, leaving his titan's body behind. But what was weird was that all of the hardened parts were nowhere to be seen.
As she looked forward, she saw something out of a nightmare. A humungous skeletal-like, monster with large spikes coming from its spine, was marching along with the wall titans.
"Dina!" Said woman suddenly heard someone cry out.
Erwin and Levi were flying towards her.
"What the hell is going on?!" The short captain asked when the two of them landed on her back.
"I don't know!" She yelled upon exiting her form "they must've found a way to overcome the vow!"
"But what are they even trying to do?!"
Suddenly, everything around them disappeared. Upon closer inspection, Dina could say that she recognized this place. The familiar white sand, the stars coming into a single point, the feeling of peace. It was the place she had seen when she woke up from her long dream.
"Hear me, all subjects of Ymir…"
This was definitely Eren's voice. Was he the one behind all this?
"My name is Eren Yeager. I'm speaking to all of you by the power of the coordinate. All of the hardening on the island of Paradis has been undone. The titans from the walls have started their long march. My goal is to protect the people of Paradis, who bore me and raised me. But the world desires our extinction. They surely will not stop until they have killed every one of the subjects of Ymir. I reject their desire."
"The titans of the walls will trample all the lands beyond this island. Until all that lives there, is eliminated from this world."
Just as quickly as it has begun, everything stopped.
Dina saw that she was still in the middle of the Shiganshina district, sitting on her own titan form with Erwin and Levi.
"Hey" the short captain started "was I dreaming, or did the two of you hear it as well?"
She looked at him with fear plastered on her face.
"Unfortunately, I heard that too."
"So, this was his agenda all along…"
Eren wanted to destroy the whole world. There was some reason in what he was trying to do, yet nothing what she, or literally anyone else had ever done came close to this.
Erwin looked behind and cursed under his nose.
"He really destroyed all walls" he said pointing in the direction of where the Trost district was "look!"
A horde of wall titans were coming in their direction from afar.
"This has gotten out of hand" Levi said as he turned to face the former commander "Erwin, what are we going to do?"
The blonde officer was deep in thought. Dina was sure he was never in such a situation, because well, such an event never occurred in history.
"We have to retreat" he finally exclaimed "we are traitors in the government's books. They will surely try to at least detain us."
This sounded reasonable, but where could they go, really? Hiding forever seemed like a bad idea, especially that soon there would be no alternatives as of where to go.
As they were sneaking through the ruined streets of Shiganshina, Dina was thinking on what to do next. Should they try and stop Eren?
"Hey…!" Someone whispered from a dark alley.
The trio turned to look towards the unexpected noise.
"It's okay" the voice exclaimed "I don't want to fight."
As the person emerged from the alley, they could see that it was Marcel. All of them quickly sought for their weapons.
"I just want to talk" he said as the guns have been pointed right at him "I'm sure all of you aren't okay with what Eren is trying to do…"
"And how exactly would you know that, huh?" Levi asked with a sneer.
The warrior sighed out.
"I've lived with you for a long time" he exclaimed "this isn't the island of devils. This is the island of regular people. And regular people aren't usually the biggest fans of committing genocides."
As the former scouts lowered their weapons, Marcel motioned for them to come along.
He proceeded to lead them to a secluded building. It seemed to be a good hiding spot for them, regardless of what the warriors had to say.
Upon entering, the trio saw that inside there was Reiner, some small black-haired girl and an older looking man, supposedly the famous general Magath.
The Marley officer looked at them with disgust.
"You want me to cooperate with those demons?" He asked with anger in his voice.
"General, I know they are enemy, but…"
"She killed your brother!" The man yelled "she killed everyone in Liberio!"
"Please, if you just overcome your bias…"
"Bias?" Magath angrily exclaimed, as he faced the trio "those devils deserve to die for what they had done! I will never allow this. This is an order!"
"This isn't about Marley, sir!" Marcel shouted out with a tint of anger in his voice "the whole world will be done for if we don't…!"
"Just shut up and do what I say, you…!"
BANG!
As the Marleyan general fell to the floor, the shocked scouts looked up to see that it was Marcel who took the shot.
"Are you crazy!" The girl yelled.
"Marcel!" Reiner started with panic "what have you done?!"
The brown-haired shifter lowered the gun.
"Damn" he cursed as he looked at the ceiling "why do I have to be the one to deal with the worst kind of stubborn, suicidal bastards in the entire world…"
"You killed him…" Dina said with surprise.
"Yeah" Marcel responded as he handed the gun over to her "to be honest, he was always getting on my nerves. Magath was supposed to be this beacon of change, or at least that's what they used to say. Too bad he never actually managed to overcome his prejudice."
"Don't you feel bad about it?" Erwin asked as he looked at the corpse.
"Of course, I do!" The brown-haired shifter cried out "but we don't have time for arguments! Soon the titans will destroy everything and if we don't do something about it quick, there will be no world at all!"
He stopped for a moment. Dina could see that he was conflicted. As his breathing returned to a normal pace, he looked towards them again.
"So" he started "with that out of the way, let's talk…"
