Chapter 17: The Week Of...pt. 2
Tuesday
Kyle woke up alone in bed. He reached out looking for Jared knowing it was futile. He sat up rubbing his eyes. He looked around and saw that things were scattered around the room and half or away. One glance at the alarm clock told him it was 8:16, and a glance out the window told him it was morning.
Panic set in as he realized he slept all afternoon and all night as well. He dashed out of bed and down stairs. He entered the kitchen and saw Jared alone cooking. He paused as he watched him for a moment.
"You're finally awake," Jared said smiling at him.
"Yeah I guess I fell asleep, why didn't you wake me when you got home last night?" Kyle asked.
"I tried, you growled at me and made a cocoon out of the blanket," Jared said.
"Oh," Kyle said slowly. He didn't even remember Jared trying to wake him up at all.
"I think you just needed to sleep. Also don't worry about your assignments, Miles finished them and sent them in for you, I don't know if that's a good thing or not," Jared rambled.
"As long as I get a passing grade it's fine," Kyle replied. He looked around. "Where is everybody?"
"Well Roldy is off surprising Noah with his wedding gift, Miles is filming the whole experience, and I think Matty and Pen decided to hit the slopes or go shopping, I'm not sure which they were kind of arguing when they left," Jared said slowly.
"So it's just us then?" Kyle asked.
"Yeah, want breakfast? I've got hash browns, scrambled eggs, and turkey sausage, because Penelope says it's healthier," Jared said.
"Sounds good," Kyle said taking a seat at the counter as Jared finished cooking.
"So what do you have on the agenda today or do you actually have the day off?" Jared asked.
"I've got nothing planned. I'm on vacation starting now," Kyle said.
"Really?" Jared asked.
"Really," Kyle agreed.
"Good, cause after breakfast we are going to watch movies all day and just relax," Jared declared.
"Sounds amazing, I'm not even gonna answer my phone, especially if it's my dad because he's an adult and can fix the problem on his own," Kyle said.
"What if it's about the girls?" Jared asked.
"Ok I'll answer, but it's the thought that counts right," Kyle replied. Jared chuckled and nodded his head. "I can't believe I slept that long though."
"I can, you've been working nonstop. Your body needed to rest, I would listen to it," Jared replied.
"I know, I know," Kyle sighed.
"I don't want you to wear yourself out," Jared said.
"I'll slow down after the wedding," Kyle promised.
"Kyle, there's always gonna be something coming up, let's just take this week and relax and help our fiends get married," Jared said.
"Deal," Kyle said quickly, "now let's get rid of this food, and go get changed, so we can go. I'm starving."
The pair quickly cleared away the burnt food before racing up stairs. Jared started to change out of his pajamas. Kyle paused as he watched him strip.
"See something you like?" Jared asked teasingly as he caught Kyle staring at him.
"Oh yes, very much so," Kyle said licking his lips.
"Stop it, I'm hungry," Jared said trying to quickly put his shirt on.
"Relax, we've got time. Let's go eat," Kyle said walking up to the older male. "When we get back, we can make good use of this bed, or the couch down stairs."
"Stop," Jared said.
"Or maybe the hallway, it all depends on how long I can resist," Kyle replied. He leaned in and sealed their lips together in a lust filled kiss.
"You're awful," Jared sighed as he rested his forehead against Kyle's.
"Or we could stay here, and just have lots of sex," Kyle purred. His stomach chose then to growl, effectively killing the mood.
"Let's go eat first," Jared chuckled.
"I'm just now realizing I haven't eaten in over twelve hours and I was supposed to get some cupcakes," Kyle said his short attention span kicking in.
"They're in the fridge down stairs, let's go get some breakfast," Jared said.
"Cupcakes," Kyle replied.
"Breakfast," Jared chuckled at how fast Kyle changed tracks.
"I need a snack for the ride," Kyle replied as he bolted from the room.
"You can't have cupcakes for breakfast," Jared called after him. He followed his hyper active boyfriend back to the kitchen.
"I'm not, I'm pregaming," Kyle shouted back.
Jared entered the kitchen and Kyle had found the cupcakes. He was staring at them trying to decide which one he wanted.
"You know if you're not carful you're gonna start to put on weight," Jared said.
"You mean get fat?" Kyle asked bluntly.
"I was trying to be delicate about it," Jared answered.
"Good, I could stand to gain a few pounds. Everyone tells me I'm too skinny anyways," Kyle said looking down at himself. Jared saw a flicker of insecurity in his eyes. Kyle's eyes quickly returned to the cupcakes. He grabbed one and shoved it in his mouth.
"God you're classy," Jared said shaking his head.
"'M cassier den oo," Kyle replied through a mouthful. He swallowed his cupcake.
"He says through a mouthful of cupcake he has before his breakfast," Jared replied stoically.
"Please, when I need to be I can be high class, you forget I was raised in the limelight," Kyle said pointing a finger at Jared as he eyed the cupcakes. "These are delicious."
"Yeah, now come on I'm hungry. I want real food, not sugar," Jared said.
"Fine let's go," Kyle said grabbing another cupcake before putting them away. He headed to the door as he started licking the frosting off the cupcake.
"Seriously how can you eat that before breakfast?" Jared asked.
"Like this," Kyle said taking a bite out of the cupcake. "Besides I have like a super high metabolism. I eat and eat and I barely gain a pound. Everyone always tells me to 'eat more,' or 'you look sickly,' or 'how do you keep the weight off vomit or starvation?' It's so annoying."
"I've never heard-" Jared started.
"High school sucks and models are bitches, let's just go," Kyle said stuffing the rest of the cupcake into his mouth. He grabbed his jacket and headed out the door.
Jared stood there a moment. He hated when Kyle got down on himself. He didn't know what to do to make him feel better.

Logan tapped his foot as he waited for Carlos to get ready. They were heading up north with Kendall and James for Noah and Roldy's wedding. Layla was in the living room packed and ready to go. They were only waiting on Carlos. He was currently upstairs looking for something he refused to tell Logan.
"Dad, didn't Kendall say he wanted to be on he road like half an hour ago?" Layla asked poking her head out of the living room.
"I think they are running a little behind as well," Logan said pulling his phone out to text Kendall.
The front door bust open and James came running in, flying past Logan and up the stairs. Kendall followed behind him with an annoyed look on his face.
"James we don't have time for this!" Kendall called.
"It'll only take a few minutes relax," James called back.
"Do you have any idea what this is about?" Kendall asked.
"No clue, Carlos has been tearing our bedroom apart looking for something and he refuses to let me help," Logan said.
"He lost his wedding ring and he's freaking out," Layla said as she exited the living room with her bag in tow. "Are we leaving now?"
"We should just go, and leave them here," Logan said shaking his head.
"James!" Kendall hollered.
"Carlos I am gonna leave without you!" Logan threatened.
"Just give us a minute," James and Carlos yelled simultaneously. They quickly doubled jinxed each other.
"You've got five minutes and we are leaving," Logan warned them. He grabbed his bag and walked outside. Layla and Kendall followed him.
"Are we gonna leave them?" Layla asked.
"Might as well, I mean they are gonna make us late," Logan said looking to Kendall.
"But I don't want to deal with James's wrath for the whole trip," Kendall sighed as he looked to the house.
"But, he has already made you late," Logan replied.
"Screw it let's go," Kendall said walking around to the trunk of his car. He pulled a couple suitcases out and had Logan and Layla load their bags.
"Are these James's bags?" Logan asked. Kendall nodded his head. They quickly loaded James' bags into Carlos' car.
"Are we really gonna do this," Layla asked as she watched the two.
Kendall and Logan shared a look. They looked to the house and back at one another. They nodded, grinning at each other.
"The last time we did this, they got so mad," Kendall said.
"But they deserved it," Logan said.
"Do it," Layla said surprising the two.
"Well you heard the girl, get your ass in the car Mitchell," Kendall said as he made his way back to his car. Logan and Layla followed. They all got in the car.
"Give them a warning text," Kendall said as he started the car.
Logan quickly opened the camera on his phone. Kendall leaned into the frame with a smile.
"Layla look up."
Layla looked up from her phone. She smiled throwing up a peace sign as well. Logan snapped the pic and sent it in a text to Carlos and James.
He looked to the door of the house. Not even twenty seconds later James and Carlos stumbled out the door. Kendall put the car in reverse as he rolled his window down.
"Sorry guys, you took too long," Kendall called.
"Kendall this isn't funny," James said as they ran down the stairs.
"We will meet you there," Logan called.
"Last one there is a rotten egg," Layla called out her window.
With that said Kendall pulled out of the drive way. Layla was laughing as Carlos and James chased them down the driveway. Kendall didn't stop, he started driving away.
"You guys are so cool," Layla said once she stopped laughing somewhat.
"About time you realize it," Logan joked.
Kendall's phone started ringing. Logan hit the answer button on the center console.
"Hello James, you're on speaker and my underage daughter is in the car so keep it PG," Logan said quickly.
"Guys this isn't funny," James said quickly.
"Yeah, come back," Carlos said quickly.
"No can do, you guys were properly warned," Kendall said.
"Kendall Donald," James threatened.
"That doesn't work over the phone," Kendall replied with a chuckle. He knew he was in for it later, but this was so much fun, he didn't care.
"You guys are awful," Carlos said.
"What's new?" Logan asked.
"James you will find that I transferred your bags over for you, so you will have all your hair care products for any hair emergency you might have," Kendall said.
"If that isn't love I don't know what is," Logan laughed.
"You're not funny Kendall," James grit out.
Kendall knew he was holding back because Layla was listening.
"Then why am I laughing?" Kendall asked with a laugh of his own.
"You guys brought this on yourselves," Logan said.
"We gave you plenty of time and warning. You knew when we had to leave and you both chose not to be ready," Kendall said.
"We were dealing with an emergency," James said.
"For the last time, your hair is fine. You don't have that many grey hairs, if you're that worried about it, start dying it," Kendall said causing Layla to giggle in the back seat.
"You're not funny," James said again.
"I think I'm hilarious," Kendall replied causing Layla to laugh more.
"Give it up James," Carlos said. He sounded like he was trying not to laugh as well.
"Well Jamie, Carlitos, have fun road tripping together," Kendall said as he hung up the phone.
"We are awful," Logan said.
"Nah, you act like we haven't done this before. Remember when we decided to drive to Vegas and they took forever getting ready," Kendall said.
"Vegas," Logan said slowly, "now there's something I haven't thought about in awhile," he said slowly.
"Your daughter is in the back seat," Kendall quickly.
"What happened in Vegas?" Layla asked.
"Nothing," Kendall said quickly.
"What didn't happen," Logan laughed.
"That was forever ago, I don't even think Layla was born yet," Kendall said.
"It's probably around the time she was conceived," Logan replied before he realized Layla was in the back seat.
"Ewwww," Layla hollered as she covered her ears.
"You asked," Kendall replied laughing.
"I regret my decision," Layla sighed.
"One word; showtunes," Logan said.
"Never mind," Layla said quickly. Logan laughed and shook his head.
"So what was Carlos freaking out about?" Kendall asked.
Logan dug something out of his pocket and held it up for Kendall to see. It was a wedding band. "This."
"You stole his wedding ring?" Kendall asked.
"We borrowed it," Layla said quickly.
"You've get her in on this?" Kendall asked.
"Yeah and we've got a plan," Logan said.
"There's no way Papi will say no," Layla said excitedly. "Where's Jenny?" She asked looking around.
"With my mom, they are flying up Thursday, because Jenny doesn't like car rides and my mom is convinced she will like flying more. I just think she doesn't want to fly alone," Kendall said.
"What about the other two, Jared's sisters?" Logan asked.
"With Leora and Lilly, they are supposed to call me every hour or so just to assure me that they are still alive," Kendall replied.
"You don't trust Lilly driving?" Logan asked.
"It's not that, it's just Jill and Carly are young and I just want to make sure they are ok. I'm basically like a grandpa to them now," Kendall said.
"Embracing that grandpa life then?" Logan asked.
"Yes, I have fully made the ascension from dad to grandpa," Kendal replied.
"Full ascension?" Logan asked.
"Oh yeah, I've got three grandkids and then Jill and Carly already call us Gramps," Kendall said, "I have leveled up from dad jokes to grandpa jokes."
"If you say pull my finger I'm gonna smack you," Logan said.
"Well now I guess you'll just have to wait and see," Kendall replied with a smirk.
—Happy Mistakes—
"So where are we going?" Noah asked for the hundredth time.
Roldy shook his head. Noah had been asking that question ever since they left the cabin. He wasn't very patient at times. Roldy wasn't saying a word. He wanted this to be a surprise.
"Sorry Noah, you'll just have to wait and see," Roldy replied.
"Jerk," Noah pouted. He the. Turned in his seat to look at Miles. He opened his mouth but Miles beat him to the punch.
"I have no idea what's going on, I'm just the camera man," Miles said quickly as he lowered his camera.
"This is so unfair," Noah whines as he fell back into his seat.
"Trust me, you'll love it," Roldy chuckled.
"I'll love it more if you tell me now," Noah reasoned.
"Nope," Roldy replied.
Noah fell silent as they rode along. He seemed to to deep in thought. Roldy was just glad that he wasn't bugging him about the surprise.
The ride into town was spent in silence, Noah having given up on trying to weasel information out of Roldy. This was a surprise that Noah was gonna love. He had been asking Roldy to get a tattoo with him. Noah had two small tattoos already and was itching for another. Roldy gave in, except Noah didn't know that.
"Ok so-" Noah started.
"I'm not telling you," Roldy said.
"But Ro," Noah whined.
"Nooo," Roldy whined back.
"You're so mean," Noah pouted. He crossed his arms over his chest.
They finally arrived in town. Roldy asked Miles to film. Noah started firing questions again. Roldy pulled into the parking lot of a small strip mall. Noah looked around confused as he tried to figure out what the surprise was. Roldy just chuckled at how adorable he was.
"Come on Noah," Roldy said as he got out of the car.
The three got out of the car. Roldy walked around the car and grabbed Noah hand.
"Ok, so for the last few months you've been asking for me to do something with you," Roldy said slowly.
"Have I?" Noah asked confused.
"Yes and I've been hesitant about it, but I figured you only live once, so might as well live right?" Roldy said.
"What are you getting at?" Noah asked looking around.
Roldy just pointed to a store behind Noah. Miles panned his camera over to the store as well, but quickly snapped back as Noah gasped. They were standing outside a tattoo parlor called Inked.
"You're getting a tattoo?" Noah asked shocked.
"We are getting matching tattoos," Roldy corrected him.
"Oh my god, really?" Noah asked. Roldy nodded his head.
"Yes, I've set up this appointment a month ago and emailed him the design, it's all been carefully planned and you will love what I have picked out," Roldy said.
Noah threw his arms around Roldy in a big hug. His words didn't seem to be working right now. Roldy just chuckled and returned the hug.
"Come on, let go," Roldy said taking Noah's hand and leading him inside. Miles followed behind the two, the camera on them.
They were greeted by woman with fiery red hair and nerdy tattoos scattered up and down her arms.
"Hello, you must be Noah and Rolly," she said slowly.
"It's Roldy, it's a nickname," Roldy replied.
"Right, sorry, I'm Ruby," she said quickly.
"Don't worry about it. I get that a lot, Roldy is a unique name," Roldy said with a chuckle.
"Well Seth is finishing up with his last client, so can I get you anything while you wait," Ruby said as she led them to the waiting area.
"This art is amazing," Noah said looking around at the artwork on the walls.
"Thanks, it's mostly mine and Seth's work,," Ruby said smiling.
"You can tell the difference between your styles," Roldy said admiring the artwork as well.
"So what brings you to this neck of the woods, you boys don't strike me as the small town type," Ruby said glancing at Miles.
"What gave it away?" Miles asked.
"Probably the camera you're holding," Noah said.
"Or that you're not wearing a real winter jacket, proving that you're not ready for a real winter," Roldy said.
"I forgot, it's not that cold, and dad and papi are bringing it up today," Miles said quickly, sticking his tongue out at Roldy.
"I thought cameramen were supposed to be silent," Roldy shot back.
"Have you met me, obnoxious is my middle name. If you didn't want me to be your cameraman, you never should have asked me," Miles quipped.
"We didn't ask you, you followed Kyle and brought a camera," Roldy replied.
"Hey its better then me filming everything myself," Noah cut in.
"You guys are funny," Ruby said making herself and Seth known to the three.
"Right, we are here for a reason," Roldy said returning his attention to Seth.
"So what are we getting?" Noah asked eagerly.
"You'll see," Roldy chuckled.
"Is this your first tattoo?" Seth asked the pair.
"His first I have two," Noah replied. He lifted his pant leg, to show the small snake that wrapped around his calf.
"That is badass," Seth said admiring the tattoo. "I love the attention to detail."
"Thanks, a friend of mine did it, I was like the second person he tattooed," Noah said looking to Roldy.
"Yeah, Jared was first," Roldy confirmed.
"What about your other one?" Ruby asked curiously.
Noah bit his upper lip nervously for a moment. He then took off the leather bracelet he wore. He held up his wrist to show them a small semicolon.
"Oh sweetie," Ruby said her smile faltering a little. She held up her wrist to show him her matching tattoo.
"I've had this tattoo since I was eighteen," Noah said slowly. "Not many people actually know that I have it."
"You don't have to talk about it," Ruby started.
"I'm not ashamed anymore. I was in a bad relationship which left me in a very bad place. He was not only verbally abusive, but it became physical. I blamed myself, said he wouldn't do it if I didn't push him or deny his advances," Noah said looking at his wrist. "But I had three amazing friends who saved me from myself. One of which I am going to marry this weekend," he said smiling at Roldy.
"How sweet," Ruby said smiling at them. "My big sister died in a car crash that I survived and my parents blamed me. I was on a bridge ready to go end it all when this stranger walks up to me and gave me a hug and he told me that I'm worth it," she said.
"And about six months later I convinced her to move out west with me, and open a tattoo parlor," Seth said.
"That's kind of adorable," Noah said.
"Was I supposed to record all that? Cause I kind of did," Miles said making himself known to the other four.
"We can edit it later," Roldy said.
"Right, So are we ready get a tattoo?" Seth asked.
"What are we getting," Noah asked.
"You'll see," Roldy replied. They followed Seth towards the back of the shop.

Jared laughed as he ducked away from another snowball. He had taken Kyle out to eat. When they returned to the cabin, Jared made the mistake of initiating a snowball fight. Kyle quickly returned fire. They were running around outside like a couple of kids.
"I will end you!" Kyle threatened.
"Bring it on," Jared laughed as he scooped up some more snow. He took aim at the blonde. He launched the snowball and hit Kyle square in the chest. He started running as Kyle sprinted at him.
Kyle quickly caught him, and the pair tumbled to the ground. Jared fought back, but was quickly losing the battle. Eventually Kyle pinned Jared down in the snow.
"Ha, I win," Kyle declared.
"Ok, I give," Jared laughed.
Kyle leaned down and connected their lips in a kiss. Jared sighed into the kiss. This was nice, except for the snow that was melting against his back. He sat back and started laughing.
"What?" Jared asked. Pushing the blonde off of him.
"We have the cabin all to ourselves for at least a few more hours, yet here we are playing in the snow like the five year olds we are," Kyle said as he stood up. He held a hand or to the older male.
Jared couldn't even argue, he was right. They were still children at heart. Ha allowed Kyle to pull him to his feet.
"Come on let's go inside and get a fire going, I'm freezing," Kyle said.
"Agreed," Jared said.
The pair quickly headed inside. Kyle made a beeline for the living room, telling Jared to grab some firewood from then back porch.
Kyle headed to the living room. He moved one of the chairs closer to the fire, but still in view of the TV. He grabbed a fire starter log and the lighter as Jared walked into the room. They quickly got a fire going with only a minor argument about how to do it.
Kyle sat down in the chair. Jared looked at him and around the room.
"You only move a chair for yourself?" Jared asked.
Kyle patted his lap. Jared rolled his eyes, but sat down on the blondes lap. Kyle pulled him close.
"Wanna watch a movie?" He asked grabbing the remote from the table beside them.
"Sure, you pick something," Jared said.
Kyle quickly found a movie and they settled into watch it. Jared rested his head on Kyle's shoulder as he snuggled in closer to the blonde. Kyle wrapped an arm around him. His hand coming to rest on his hip. He rested his head on top of Jared's head. He felt relaxed, for the first time in a long time.
"This is nice," Kyle said after awhile.
"Yeah, I can't remember when the last time we had any alone time was," Jared sighed.
"Much less time to relax and not worry about work or your sisters," Kyle said, "don't get me wrong, I love Jill and Carly, but it's nice to take a little break."
"I get it," Jared said.
"I love Jill and Carly-" Kyle started.
"I get it," Jared assured him again.
Kyle sighed as he rested his head against Jared's once more. They fell silent again.
Jared knew what Kyle meant. He loved having his sisters around, but it was nice to have a small break from them. I'm hind sight Jared hadn't know what he was in for when he took his sisters in. He loved them and wanted what was best for them, but at times it was a bit much. They did the best that they could, Jared just hoped it would be enough.
Kyle tipped Jared's chin up, bringing him from his thoughts. They met gazes as Kyle leaned in and sealed their lips together. It started innocently enough, but soon Jared was straddling the blonde. Their kisses all tongue and teeth as they groped at one another. Kyle pulled Jared closer as they started to rut against one another.
Jared pulled back to look at Kyle, his best thing labored. All it took was a few well placed kisses from the blonde boy beneath him and head a hot mess. Kyle looked up at him confused.
"Let's take this upstairs," Jared said. He stood up and pulled Kyle up as well.
They raced up the stairs to their bedroom. Clothes started flying off before the door was even closed. Soon they were down to their underwear. Kyle shoved Jared into the wall as he attacked his neck with nips and sucks. His hands roamed all over his body, scratching and groping.
"Kyle," Jared whined, his hands digging into the blondes scalp as he pulled at his hair. He tugged and brought Kyle's head up. He crashed their lips together in a needy kiss.
Kyle hands found Jared's hips. He quickly pushed his underwear down. Jared kicked them off. Kyle quickly hoisted Jared up against the wall. Jared wrapped his legs around the blondes hips. He ground their hips together whining. He needed more than what Kyle was giving him right now.
"Kyle," Jared whined.
"What is it Jer," Kyle whispered huskily. He grabbed his hips and pulled him closer giving him a little bit of the friction he wanted.
"Get on with it," Jared whined.
"Nah, I like this better," Kyle teased. He rolled his hips into Jared's.
"Kyle," Jared whined again.
"So needy," Kyle teased. He pressed Jared into the wall. He brought his lips to Jared's shoulder and nipped. He ground their hips together teasingly. Jared just whined.
Kyle took a step back from the wall. Jared wrapped his arms around Kyle with a squeak. Kyle carried him over to the bed and set him on the bed. He quickly stripped the last of his clothing and joined Jared on the bed.
He attacked Jared's neck with rough nips and sucks. The noises Jared was making were driving him wild. He started to trail kisses down Jared's chest, reveling in the sounds he was making.
"Shit! Do we have condoms?" Kyle asked quickly sitting up.
"Yeah, I came prepared," Jared said pointing to his bag.
"Good, at least one of us plans ahead," Kyle said climbing off the bed. He crossed the room at breakneck speed. "Which pocket?"
"Front," Jared relied.
Kyle dug into the front pocket and pulled out some condoms and lube. He quickly returned to the bed.
"Thank god one of us plans ahead," he said again. He leaned over Jared and pressed their lips together in a sloppy kiss.

Kendall groaned as he phone started ringing. He looked over at Logan who was driving now. James was calling again. He had been calling almost every hour on the hour. Usually after Leora hung up on him to complain that shewasn't listening to him.
"James again?" Logan asked.
"He's just worried about Leora and the girls. I get that, but he can't keep calling every hour on the hour," Kendall said. It stopped ringing. He set it down. "I really love him, but this neurotic side is not aging well. It's getting worse."
"If he's going crazy maybe it's time you old folk enter an old folk home," Layla said from the back seat.
"Rude," Kendall said turning to face her with a grin. "You'll come break us out from time to time right?"
"Someone's gotta," Layla said, "your kids won't."
"I knew there was a reason I liked you," Kendall chuckled.
"We are not that old yet," Logan reminded his daughter.
"But we gotta plan ahead," Kendall said.
"Okay, change of subject I'm hungry and sick of gas station food," Layla said quickly. She looked to Kendall for help.
"Yes, I want real food too," Kendall said looking up at the exit signs. "Oh next right for San Francisco."
"It's out of our way," Logan said shaking his head.
"Do it," Layla encouraged him.
"It's like a couple hours out of the way," Logan argued.
"So, it's not like we are on a tight schedule," Kendall reasoned.
Logan but his lip as he debated what to do. Kendall could see the internal struggle was real.
On the one hand they really didn't have to be up there until later in the week. They were only going up early to take a vacation. Vacation was a bout fun. San Francisco was fun.
On the other hand, if they were late James and Carlos might kill them. They were already mad at being left behind. If they were late James would be furious.
"Well, James won't be mad at me," Logan said slowly.
"Exactly, you let me deal with my neurotic husband," Kendall said smiling.
"But like I said it's hours out of the way," Logan reasoned.
"Do it," Layla repeated.
"You heard the girl," Kendall said looking over his shoulder at Layla with a smile.
Logan sighed and hung his head for a moment.
"I seriously need to get new friends," Logan mumbled as he took the next exit for San Francisco.
"As always Loges, you're stuck with me until the end," Kendall grinned.
"I just want it known that I tried to stop this insanity," Logan said.
"Noted," Layla replied with a chuckle.
It wasn't long before they entered Sam Francisco. They drove around sight seeing and arguing over where to eat. Eventually they found a small Italian restaurant off the beaten path. It looked interesting.
"It's later afternoon, so it shouldn't be too busy," Logan said as they approached.
"Less chance of making a scene," Kendall added.
"You always make a scene," Layla replied looking up at Kendall. Kendall gave her a shocked look.
"She's not wrong," Logan laughed as they entered the restaurant.
The hostess greeted them with a smile. There were several open tables so she was able to seat them pretty quickly. They started to look over their menus in silence. The waitress came and took their orders.
"Hey Loges remember-" Kendal started as he put his menu down.
Logan shot Kendall a look, "No."
"You do," Kendall laughed.
"Not in front of my daughter please," Logan sighed.
"You act like it's so bad," Kendall said.
"I don't know if I wanna hear this," Layla said slowly.
"We came up here forever ago for a vacation, just the four of us," Kendall said shaking his head.
"This isn't another conception story is it?" Layla asked making a face.
"No, not exactly," Kendall said slowly. "It was after Kyle and Leora were born. It was after we thought we lost Lucas." he explained.
"Oh," Layla said.
"Yeah, we had to get away from everything and grieve," Logan said slowly. He knew Kendall was gonna tell the story.
"And grieve you did," Kendall laughed.
"Yeah, mistakes were made," Logan sighed.
"What happened?" Layla asked.
"A lot happened that weekend," Logan said, "stuff we sworn never to repeat."
"It was quite spontaneous actually," Kendall said, "and you swore not to repeat, I made no such promise. I think it's time Layla learned just how spontaneous you can be."
"The words spontaneous and my dad don't go in the same sentence unless, he's not is in between them," Layla said shaking her head.
"There's so much you don't know," Kendall replied.
"Most of those stories start with Kendall made me," Logan said quickly.
"Not this one," Kendall sing-songed.
"Just tell it," Logan sighed.
"So James and I basically kidnapped your dads for a weekend. It was my moms idea to get them away from LA," Kendall said.
"Now this wasn't like a drunk off our asses the whole weekend. It was just a weekend to relax," Logan said, "that being said, this story does involve some drinking."
"Let me guess Kendall was drinking and convinced you to do something stupid," Layla said.
"Quite the opposite actually," Kendall said looking to Logan.
"Ok so it was a Saturday and we had split up. James wanted to go shopping, Kendall didn't, and neither did I to be honest," Logan said.
"So Carlos and James went shopping and Logan and I explored the city and ended up at a bar," Kendall explained.
"Why do a lot of these stories involve us drinking," Logan asked hanging his head.
"Because we do the stupidest shit when we're drunk," Kendall replied, "anyways there was a special on daiquiri's or something like that, and your dad went hard."
Layla looked at Logan for confirmation. He was hanging his head, his cheeks dusting pink at the story to come.
"We got tipsy and this bachelorette party convinced us to go to karaoke with them. We partied and forgot our cares. When we left the club close to midnight, that's when your dad got his genius idea," Kendall said smiling.
"Horrible idea," Logan corrected Kendall.
"What?" Layla asked curiously.
"We got matching tattoos," Kendall said grinning.
"No way," Layla said shaking her head.
"Yeah," Logan sighed.
Kendall held up his wrist to show Layla his small Batman and Robin tattoo. It wasn't black Batman symbol with Robin's red symbol overlapping. "He's got the same one. He's Robin to my Batman. It took a lot of drunk arguing and our tattoo artist to convince us which tattoo we got. Originally we wanted to have them separate, but this turned out better."
"Whatever you say," Logan said shaking his head. "Mamma Knight always called us the dynamic duo and in my drunken state it was an amazing idea."
"You don't have a tattoo, do you?" Layla asked looking at him confused.
Logan sighed as he took off his watch and grabbed his napkin. He splashed a little of his water in it. He scrubbed his wrist to show off the small Batman and Robin tattoo.
"How have I never noticed?" Layla asked shocked.
"Obviously my watch covers it and it's not something that I broadcast. As a doctor I can't have visible tattoos so covering it up just became the norm. I hardly even think about it anymore." Logan shrugged.
"My whole life has been a lie," Layla sighed dramatically.
Kendall laughed and shook his head. They were having fun together. He was glad Layla was enjoying herself too. Although he did feel a little bad for leaving James behind. It was his own fault though. Kendall was sure he and Carlos would have a nice drive up ripping into him and Logan the whole way.
—Happy Mistakes—
Jared checked his phone again. He saw no messages and checked the time. Kyle and Miles has gone into town for food. They had left two hours ago.
Leora and Lill had shown up hours ago with Jill and Carly. They had all settled and started a movie marathon. Kyle and Miles decided to do a food run, and never came back.
"Give it up, they are probably goofing around in town somewhere," Matt said as he waited up to him.
"Yeah, Marty and I will go get food," Penelope said as she put her jacket on.
"Pizza sound good?" Matt asked. Everyone agreed. Matt and Penelope left.
Jared sighed as he sank back into his seat. He was not happy. He should never have let those two go alone.
"You should've gone with them," Roldy said.
"I know, I can't believe the would just take off though," Jared said.
"I can," Leora piped in. "They probably forgot all about the food."
"They're probably on an adventure," Lilly added.
"I'm sure they're fine," Noah said, "they've done this before. Just relax."
"It's not just them, Kendall, James, Carlos, and Logan have yet to arrive too," Jared said.
"Layla as well," Lilly added.
"They'll get here eventually," Leora said, "if I know my dad and Logan they got sidetracked and are probably off on an adventure."
Lilly nodded her head in agreement. A lot of the stories they heard as children started with Kendall telling them how he convinced Logan to do something reckless and fun.
"I know, but they should be here by now," Jared said.
A knock at the door caught their attention. Carly jumped up, Jared followed. She opened the door to reveal Carlos and James. They greeted him with a smile.
"Sorry we're late," James said quickly, "someone got held up this morning." He shot a look at Carlos.
"Sorry, totally my fault," Carlos said taking responsibility.
"Who's all here?" James asked.
"Kendall's not here," Jared replied.
"You heard," James asked.
"Yeah, sounds like a very Kyle thing to do too," Jared commented.
"Speaking of, where is Kyle?" James asked.
"Who knows, we let him and Miles go for food about three hours ago and haven't heard from them since," Jared replied, not hiding his annoyance.
"Letting them go alone was your first mistake," Carlos chuckled.
"Who knows what kind of hijinks they are getting into," James added shaking his head.
Jared led them to the living room. Everyone settled in once more they chatted and laughed.
Matt and Penelope arrived a little while later with several boxes of pizza. Everyone relocated to the kitchen. Jared and Roldy found a few more chairs. A few people had to stand, but they all fit somehow.
Kendall, Logan, and Layla were next to arrive. Kendall grinned as he greeted James. James just glared at his husband. Carlos gave Layla and Logan a warmer greeting, but was still slightly annoyed.
"Hi James, you look gorgeous by the way, and I love you," Kendall said smiling sweetly at his husband, as he snagged a chair next to him.
"Not gonna work," Carlos said from across the room.
"Butt out Carlos, deal with your husband," Kendall said as he cuddled up next to James smiling. "If it helps it was all Logan's idea."
"No way," Logan said, "besides Carlos isn't the one who's mad. He knows you're the bad influence."
"I expected it to be honest," Carlos admitted with a shrug.
"Actually it was you who suggested it," Layla said pointing Logan.
"See, thank you Layla. He's the bad influence on me James! I need to get new friends," Kendall exclaimed dramatically. He fell back against James, who's glare softened slightly.
"I might have suggest it, but I wasn't serious and you're the one who drove away," Logan pointed a finger at Kendall.
"I didn't force you to get in the car, Doc," Kendall replied. He turned back to James. "Ignore him he's just trying to get me into more trouble with his lies."
James' lip twitched but he continued to glare at his husband. He could be stubborn at times. The silent treatment was a speciality of his.
"Still not talking huh?" Kendall asked he leaving in closer the angry brunette. "I wuv you Jamie." He pulled out his pout.
"Damn it Kendall!" James cracked and smiled.
Kendall cheered and threw his arms around James. James just looked away from Kendall fighting a blush as the others laughed.
"Get off," James said shoving him away, his smile still in place. "You are so annoying sometimes. You're lucky I love you."
"I know." Kendall grinned.
Everyone settled in and started chatting once more. Jared kept checking the time. He was starting to get anxious. He didn't want to worry, but neither Kyle or Miles were answering his texts. They were probably purposely ignoring him too. It didn't help his worry one bit.
"Dude relax," Roldy said nudging him in the ribs lightly as he moved to stand beside him. Everyone was engrossed in their own conversations.
"I know they always do this, but we are somewhere unfamiliar, the least he could do is text me that they are ok," Jared sighed.
"Again you act like this is new," Roldy laughed.
"Is it me or did Kendall's bit with James seem a bit familiar," Jared said quietly changing the subject.
"A little," Roldy replied.
"Wanna bet he tries it?" Jared asked.
"He wouldn't do it in front of his dads," Roldy replied.
"Oh he would." Jared nodded his head.
"No he knows better than that, I'm sure," Roldy said.
"Please, he will do anything to get out of trouble," Jared said.
"Yeah, but he knows his dads are here," Roldy said lowly.
"Wanna bet?" Jared arched a brow at his friend.
"The usual?"
"Always."
Everyone looked to the hallway as the front door opened. Jared quickly pulled his wallet from his pocket and tossed it to Roldy.
"Ante up," Jared said as he jumped up. Roldy tossed his wallet to Jared.
"What are you two doing now," Matt asked.
"Never mind Matty, I'm about to show Ro that I'm right and he's wrong," Jared said as he ran to the hallway. Roldy followed close behind, wanting to see this for himself.
Jared confronted Kyle and Miles as they entered the house, trying to be sneaky. Miles saw him first and smacked Kyle's arm. Kyle looked up with a smile.
"Busted," Miles said.
"You've been gone for hours you better have a damn good excuse," Jared said.
"You're mad," Kyle said grinning, "have I told you how adorable you look when you're mad at me? Aaaannd I love you."
"Damn it," Roldy said causing Kyle to look back at him.
"I told you," Jared said pointing a finger at Roldy. He held up Roldy's wallet and dug our a card grinning the whole time.
"What were we betting on?" Kyle asked.
"On how predictable you are like your dad," Jared replied. Kyle shot Jared a glare. He hated when people said that.
"See what you teach our kids," James said from behind Roldy.
"What, it works," Kendall said.
"I learned from the best," Kyle added.
James just rolled his eyes and walked away. He headed back into the living room. Jared turned back to Kyle.
"What happened to getting food," Jared asked.
"We got a little side tracked," Kyle said slowing looking to Miles.
"Do I wanna hear this story?" Kendall asked.
"Probably not," Miles said as he made his way to the kitchen in search of food. Kyle moved to follow him. Kendall cut him off with a look.
"We went on an adventure exploring town," Kyle said quickly.
"What did you do?" Kendall asked eyeing his son suspiciously.
"What did you do that took you so long to get here, and eight hour drive took almost twelve hours." Kyle shot back.
"Touché," Kendall said.
"You're gonna let him get away with whatever he did just like that?" James asked.
Kendall turned to his husband with a shrug. "I was swore to a vow of silence. I will not speak of my adventures, so I can't force him."
"Vow of silence," James asked.
"For real, he can't tell and I can't tell," Layla said walking out of the living room. "If you want to tell him go ahead, I take cash only."
"Not a chance squirt," Kendall replied.
"Miles and I too, I'm not paying him," Kyle said.
"See what you teach our children?" James asked rounding on Kendall.
"Me? This vow thing was your idea, it spiraled and now it's a thing we do," Kendall shot back quickly.
Kyle loves to sneak past his dads. If he could get away, he could get out of trouble, for a little while. James caught him by the shoulder.
"I'm not done with you," James said.
"Ow, don't need to be so rough," Kyle said flinching away from James' grasp.
"I barely touched you," James said shaking his head, glaring suspiciously at his son.
"Why do you always assume I did something bad. Miles and I were just goofing off," Kyle said shrugging.
"Why all the secrecy?" Kendall asked crossing his arms over his chest.
"Because it's so easy to rile you guys up," Kyle said shrugging.
Roldy and Jared shares a look. "Double or nothing?"
"No way," Jared said shaking his head. They both took off into the kitchen after Miles.
"Miles!"
Jared reaches him first. Miles looked up surprised. He didn't know what they wanted. He however grinned and played it cool.
"Aw, I missed you guys too," Miles said. Jared quickly grabbed his right shoulder and he flinched.
"I knew it!" Roldy said.
"You guys are idiots," Jared said shaking his head.
"I prefer simple minded," Miles said giving Jared and indignant look.
"Oh my god!"
"Kendall and James figured it out," Jared said as Kyle bolted into the kitchen.
I
Kendall and James could be heard trying to argue quietly. Everyone looked to Kyle and Miles.
"So uh," Kyle said slowly.
"We got tattoos!" Miles declared proudly.
"Show us," Noah said jumping up.
Miles quickly shed his shirt to show off his shoulder, which had the blue night wing logo. Everyone looked to Kyle curiously. He took his arm out of his sleeve and turned to reveal his Batman logo.
"Well dad always called you the dynamic duo," Leora said shaking her head.
"Oh my god, what are the odds," Layla asked looking to Logan.
Logan just laughed and shook his head. He took off his watch and showed Miles his own tattoo. Lilly jumped up to see too, she was shocked as well.
"Are you trying to kill your dads. Also, before you two were the dynamic duo, there was me and Kendall," Logan relied.
"Oh please he's got so many tattoos he has no place to judge, and neither do you Woodstock," Kyle replied. Logan's face fell.
"I'm going to kill him," Logan said.
"Two tattoos" Layla asked.
"Woodstock?" Lilly asked confused.
"Where?" Miles asked looking at his dad.
"Woodstock the bird from the Peanuts," Kyle replied.
"How did you know about that one?" Carlos asked.
"Well dad spills secrets like nobody's business when he's sober, it only gets worse when he's drunk." Kyle shrugged.
"Where?" Miles asked again louder.
"Nowhere," Logan said turning toward his son with a glare. "I am going to go kill Kendall now."
He left the kitchen. Carlos watched him go before turning to Miles and Kyle.
"You two are awful and should have not done that, but they look pretty badass," Carlos said returning to his pizza.
"Since when did you become the chill one?" Lilly asked looking to Carlos confused.
"Dunno, I guess I just realized one day that you four are all practically adults now and there's no stopping you from what you're gonna do. We did the best that we could to teach you right from wrong, you're gonna make mistakes, but that's how we learn," Carlos said shrugging.
"Deep," Miles said nodding his head.
Everyone settled into their mindless chatter again. Kendall, James, and Logan eventually rejoined them. None of them said a word to Kyle and Miles. No one brought up the tattoos again.
