Chapter 21: Nothing Even Matters
Noah anxiously waited for Roldy to enter their room. He had taken off ahead of his husband. He wanted to make sure that everything was set in the suite. They were now in the honeymoon suite. Noah had ordered some chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne for them.
He sat down on the plush bed. The jitters were setting in again. He knew everything was going to be fine. Roldy was just going to be happy to be with him. That's what today had been all about, despite how sidetracked things got.
Noah looked down at his ring again. He smiled as he looked at the tattoo above the ring. Running along his finger was the word Always. The A was the deathly hallows symbol from Harry Potter. Roldy had the very same tattoo as well. It was their favorite movie quote. They had always loved each other, it had just taken them a while to admit it to the other. It was their very own inside joke. Matt had jokingly asked them, after all this time, to which Noah had automatically replied, always. Ever since then, that had become their thing.
After everything that had happened this week, Noah had been so worried that this wasn't going to happen. Nothing could stop him though. Not crazy ex's, not crazy fangirls, not even his horrible father could stop him. He married Roldy, and he was the happiest he had ever been.
Now all he had to do was wait for Roldy to arrive, to have the perfect ending to a perfect night.
Six hours earlier…
Noah grabbed Roldy's hand, smiling at the ring there. He fiddled with his ring. He was still checking to see if this was real. Roldy brought his hand up to his lips and pressed a kiss to the back of his hand. Noah's smile grew.
"This is real," Roldy said quietly. "We are finally married."
"I still can't believe it," Noah sighed happily.
They were in the middle of dinner. Everyone was eating and talking. Laughter could be heard coming from guests around the room. The Rocque Records band was quietly playing music while people ate. Everything had gone smoothly. Now they had to make it through the rest of the evening.
So many people had shown up too. There had been a long line of people congratulating them. Noah was so happy. He was glad that everyone here was happy for him and Roldy. The people that mattered were here. That's all there was too it.
Noah looked around the room for Kyle. Kyle had excused himself from the table a little while ago. He was trying to find a moment alone with the blonde. He wanted to know why everyone seemed to think he was pregnant. What he really wanted to know was who was really pregnant. He needed an explanation if he was going to continue to cover for the blonde.
He was also looking for Miles. He needed to make sure he wasn't spreading the rumor anymore. He was off with his camera asking guests for their thoughts on Noah and Roldy's wedding and their well-wishes and advice for the happy couple.
Rafi approached the table. He congratulated the couple and asked Matt for a private word. Noah gave him a confused look. Roldy caught the interaction too.
"Is something wrong?" Roldy asked.
"Well, you guys remember that girl you told me to keep out," Rafi said quietly.
"Gabby," Matt said nodding his head. He had managed to avoid her ever since they had run into her the other day.
"Yeah well she claims she is a guest of someone who was invited," Rafi said slowly.
"What? That's not possible," Matt said.
"I turned her away from the ceremony earlier and she was mad, but now she's out there trying to claim she was invited or at least someone's guest," Rafi sighed.
"What name is she trying to use?" Matt asked.
"Sorry to interrupt, but Matt I need to talk to you."
Noah looked up as Matt's cousin Simon walked up. He had gone to school with the guys. They had all been close friends with him until they moved up to LA.
"Simon can it wait, we are dealing with something," Matt said.
"Gabby?" Simon asked.
"Did you invite her?" Marney asked jumping up.
"No, actually, I have the answer to get her to leave," Simon said putting his hands up. He pulled out some folded papers from his pocket. "I made a mistake a few months ago after a bad break up. I got drunk and Gabby and I had a fling. It was nothing and I told her so the next day, but it turned to stalking pretty quick. She kept asking about the wedding and if I had a date yet."
"She followed you here?" Marney asked.
"Yes, even though I told her not to. I've got a restraining order on her," Simon said holding up the folded piece of paper.
"May I?" Rafi asked holding his hand out to the paper. "I'm Rafi by the way, head of security." Simon handed over the papers. "This will work if she refuses I can contact the police about her violating the terms of the restraining order." He left with the papers with a promise to return them shortly.
"Gabby?" Matt asked Simon.
"Not my finest moment. Like I said I had a bad breakup and went out to drink and I think she preyed on me that night hoping to get an invite to the wedding to cause drama," Simon said shaking his head, "I'm so sorry, by the way."
"It's not your fault she's psycho," Matt replied.
Simon turned to Noah and Roldy with a smile. "Congratulations by the way guys."
"Oh Si," Noah jumped up. He ran over to the other man and gave him a big hug. "We need to get together more often."
"I agree." Simon laughed as he caught the hyperactive brunette.
"Has anyone seen Kyle?" Jared asked looking around.
"Nope and Miles is gone too," Leora replied.
"They are probably off causing mischief," Roldy added.
-Happy Mistakes-
Kendall grinned as he watched Jenny dance. She wasn't paying any mind to the food in front of her. She was more focused on the band and the music playing. He could tell me had another musician in the family. Jenny had arrived on Thursday with Jennifer. She had been watching her for the last few days with Leora and Lilly as well. Kendall had been so busy with the wedding. He was glad to finally get some time with his daughter.
Kendall and James were sitting with Carlos and Logan. They were at what he had dubbed the parent's table with Deanna, Harry, Sashi, Noah's mom Janice, and Matt's parents Cindy and Mark. Everyone was just cooing over Jenny. She was the center of attention, and she was loving it.
"She is so adorable," Deanna cooed. She had the coveted spot on Jenny's other side. She was dancing along with the toddler.
"Yeah she is and she knows it too," Kendall chuckled.
Jenny had the whole world wrapped around her finger. She knew it too. She knew who to go to get snacks from when Kendall said no, or when she had an owie and needed a kiss. She was growing up too fast sometimes. Kendall knew that it wouldn't be long before she was talking back and wanting nothing to do with him and James.
Kendall's thoughts drifted to the other night when Logan had brought up the idea of going on a reunion tour to James and Carlos. They had pretty much reacted the way Kendall had thought they would. Carlos had moved on from singing and was taking over the acting world. His show was a hit comedy and renewed for another two seasons already. He was also thinking about movies. James was happy with where he was at too. Was Kendall crazy for wanting to do this?
"You're being awfully quiet," James said nudging the blonde.
"Just thinking," Kendall replied.
"That's dangerous," James teased.
"Har-Har," Kendall said sending a playful glare at his husband.
"Lighten up will you, everything went off fine," James said nudging him lightly.
"I know, that's not what I'm thinking about," Kendall replied.
"What's on your mind," James asked.
"Later," Kendall replied.
James just nodded his head. He returned to his conversation with Logan and Carlos. Kendall looked back to Jenny who was still dancing and laughing with Deanna. She was loving all the attention.
"Hey Kendall," Miles said as he ran up to the table. Kendall arched a brow at the teen. "Can I borrow you for a moment." He asked.
"What's wrong?" Kendall asked.
"Nothing, I just need to talk to you," Miles said looking past Kendall, "alone."
Kendall looked over his shoulder st James who was watching them. He gave him a shrug. "I'll be back, make sure Deanna here doesn't try and kidnap our daughter."
"I might take her for a dance. She's having so much fun listening to the music," Deanna laughed.
Kendall followed Miles through the crowd. They exited the ballroom. Miles led him to the bathroom.
"This is an odd place for privacy," Kendall said as he walked into the bathroom. He stopped as he saw Kyle standing over the sink staring in the mirror.
"Miles, I told you not to tell anyone," Kyle snapped.
"No, you said don't tell Jared," Miles replied.
"What's wrong?" Kendall asked.
"It's nothing," Kyle shrugged.
"Miles wouldn't bring me here for nothing," Kendall said.
"I'm fine, I was just having like a mini panic attack," Kyle replied, holding his fingers up pinched close together. "Just all the people in there freaked me out a little bit."
"He didn't sleep last night either," Miles added.
"Thank you, Miles, go away," Kyle said glaring at his best friend.
"He's just trying to help, don't shut us out," Kendall said.
"Ok fine, finding those girls in our room freaked me out. I was scared that they were going to try again in the middle of the night and I was going to wake up to them standing over me with that crazy look they had when we found them. I couldn't sleep, because every time I closed my eyes I saw them there in that fucking wardrobe," Kyle said shaking his head. He started pacing. "Then Matt can't shut his mouth either, he keeps hinting that Jared and I are gonna get married next. Like seriously I don't know if I ever wanna get married. Marriage is just a scam and a way for the government to keep track of you."
"No one said you had to get married," Kendall said, watching Kyle as he paced.
Kyle stopped his pacing and took a breath. He shook his head. "Sorry, after everything last night I just...I needed a moment to myself."
"You're not alone here Kyle, we just want to help," Kendall said.
"I'm fine," Kyle said. He turned to face Miles. "You're overreacting and you need to learn when to butt out." He quickly brushed past the pair and left the bathroom.
Kendall turned to Miles. Miles sighed and shrugged his shoulders.
"I'm worried about him," Miles admitted.
"Give him some space, he will come around," Kendall replied.
"I hope so," Miles said before he left the bathroom as well.
Kendall stood there a moment. He wondered what was going on with those two. Kyle trusted Miles more than anyone else. Their friendship was so unique. If Kyle wasn't letting Miles in, something was wrong. Kendall was a little worried.
-Happy Mistakes-
Penelope exited the ballroom. She was looking for Matt. He had been acting strange ever since Rafi had talked to them about Gabby. Rafi had managed to get her to leave with the restraining order, but Matt was still on edge. She wanted to make sure he was ok. She also needed a moment away from the crowd in the ballroom. Everyone was coming up to the table every few minutes talking to Noah and Roldy. It was a bit suffocating at times.
She found him near the bathroom pacing back and forth. He didn't even notice her at first. She could tell that Gabby really affected him. They hadn't even seen her face to face and he was so worked up.
"Hey," she said getting his attention.
Matt stopped pacing and looked at her shocked. He gave her a fake smile. She saw right through it. Something was wrong and she needed to get to the bottom of this. She wanted to help, but she wasn't sure how.
"I'm sorry," Matt said.
"Don't be," Penelope said walking up to him. She grabbed his hand in hers.
"After all this time, she can still get in my head," Matt said shaking his head. He pulled his hand from hers as he turned away.
"I can't imagine what's going through your head right now. I know it must bring up some bad stuff," Penelope said moving to stand in front of him.
"Oh yeah, all the crap she put me through," Matt nodded his head, "what I don't understand is why she even showed up here in the first place? She's got no business here. I made it very clear from the end of our relationship that I never wanted to see her again."
"I don't have those answers, but I do know that we can go back in there and celebrate our friend's marriage with them," Penelope said.
"How do you always know what to say?" Matt asked smiling at her.
"I don't," Penelope admitted.
"So Simon and I talked a little more after Rafi told me she was gone," Matt sighed.
"And?" Penelope asked curiously.
"Well apparently Gabby has a kid, that she is trying to claim is mine," Matt said shaking his head. "This kid is like three and we haven't been together for almost five years."
"So she's trying to get her five minutes of fame," Penelope laughed.
"Exactly," Matt said nodding his head. "I'm always careful anyways. I'm not gonna have kids until I'm ready."
"Yeah," Penelope said nodding her head with a smile. "Come on, let's go," she said grabbing his hand once more. She brought it up to her lips and gave it a kiss. Matt smiled at her.
"I love you," he said.
"Love you too," Penelope said softly.
She led him back to the ballroom. They quickly joined the table again. Noah looked over at Matt with a brow arched. Matt just waved a hand. Noah seemed satisfied with that for now.
-Happy Mistakes-
Roldy sat back as he listened to Jared's best man's speech. It was heartfelt with humor. It was such a Jared speech about how they had practically been brothers growing up, and all the embarrassing stories that went with it. Jared had everyone laughing at himself, Roldy, and Matt. He even talked about how they had all met Noah, and he wormed his way into their circle by his smooth-talking and getting them out of trouble numerous times. In the end, Jared was happy for his two best friends. He knew they were meant for one another and wanted nothing but the best for them. Once it was over Roldy jumped up and bro hugged his best friend. He was so lucky to have a best friend like him.
Matt's speech to Noah was next. His speech was a tearjerker as he promised. Matt and Noah had been through some dark times together. They had both been in abusive relationships in the past and helped one another through them in a way Jared and Roldy couldn't. They had a special bond of their own. They were brothers to each other much like Roldy and Jared were. Matt told Noah how happy he was that he had found someone who cherished him in the way he deserved. He wished them nothing but happiness.
Noah jumped up and threw his arms around Matt not hiding his tears at all. Roldy was next, thanking Matt for that wonderful speech. He took a seat next to Noah again. Noah took his hand gave it a small squeeze. Roldy just smiled at him and pulled him close as a few other family members toasted them as well.
It wasn't long before people were up and mingling. People were dancing to the music and having fun. It seemed that Kyle had managed to convince quite a few friends to sing for the wedding. Tim and Dani had been up on the small stage singing for awhile. Avery was up there now entertaining the masses. She was having fun that was for sure.
"This night has been perfect," Noah said smiling.
"Yes It has, just being here with you has been the highlight of my day," Roldy replied.
"Hate to break this up," Jared said as he and Matt approached the two.
"Time to get up," Matt said pulling Noah to his feet.
"What now?" Roldy asked.
"First dance time," Jared replied leading Roldy out to the floor.
Jared and Matt quickly joined Kyle on stage. They talked for a moment. The song ended and Kyle stepped up to the microphone thanking Avery for her time. People clapped and applauded her.
"Now, ladies and gentlemen, for the first time I give you, Mr. Roldy and Noah Harrison," Kyle said as the dancefloor cleared. Roldy looked to Noah was a slightly nervous smile. "This next song is a special song for the happy couple and only for them will I do this. You two better appreciate this," Kyle said sending a pointed look at the two.
"I love you, Kyle," Noah hollered as he allowed Roldy to walk him out onto the dancefloor.
Jared handed Kyle his guitar. Kyle looked to the band. He was mentally preparing himself for this one. Roldy knew that he was only doing this for Noah. Noah was special and could convince anyone to do anything for him.
Kyle took a breath and started singing. "Cause the world stops when I think about you." Kyle started playing an acoustic version of the Big Time Rush song Nothing Even Matters.
Roldy grinned as Noah took his hand. They started dancing together. It was like the world was gone around them. They were the only two there.
"I love you," Noah said smiling at Roldy.
"God I love you so much," Roldy sighed with a goofy smile of his own. He couldn't stop smiling, even if he tried.
As they danced they paid no mind to all eyes on them. It was only them in their own little world. Nothing even mattered, except each other.
All that Roldy could see at this moment was his husband. That was still a strange thought, in a good way. He couldn't believe that they had made it here. After everything that seemed to work against them this week. It was a great feeling to be standing here with Noah, knowing he wanted to be here with him.
As the music stopped everyone around they broke into applause. Noah grinned as he leaned in and pecked Roldy on the lips. Kyle presented them as a married couple one more time. Everyone was so happy for them. It was an amazing feeling.
Noah led Roldy off the dancefloor as other people started dancing again. He led him over to their table and they sat down for a moment.
—Happy Mistakes—
Kyle watched as Noah, Roldy, Jared, and Matt all mingled with guests. They were laughing and having a good time. He was so happy for the happy couple. This day had been amazing. He was glad that everything had worked out.
"Dude that was awesome!"
Kyle looked up as Miles joined him. "You are amazing."
"Thanks, but stop. You've heard me sing like a million times," Kyle said shaking his head.
"I will always be your hype man," Miles replied
"Good to know you'll always be in my corner," Kyle laughed.
"Anyways, you ok?" Miles asked quietly.
"Of course, I just had a moment and I needed to calm down. I'm fine," Kyle said.
"Are you sure? Is this because of…" Miles trailed off.
"Stop," Kyle said looking around. He didn't need anyone finding out. He was done with the pills after tonight. No one else would ever have to know.
"I'm just asking," Miles said putting his hands up.
"And I'm asking you to stop. I will get rid of them later. I am done, I promise," Kyle said.
"I just worry about you," Miles said.
"You can watch me dump them. I will stop," Kyle promised.
"Good, you don't need that crap," Miles said sitting back.
The two lapsed into silence as they watched others move around the dance floor dancing, talking, laughing. Everyone was having a good time.
"Why are you two sitting in the corner? Come dance," Penelope said running up to them. She grabbed them both and pulled them to their feet. She led them out to the dancefloor.
They started dancing with her, Lily, and Leora. They were all laughing and having a good time. It wasn't long before Roldy, Noah, Jared, and Matt joined them.
"There you are," Kyle said grinning as he moved over to dance with his boyfriend. Jared grinned at him. "I thought you had abandoned us."
"Nah, we were just talking," Jared said his voice lowering.
"Am I in trouble?" Kyle asked nervously.
"Noah's pregnant?" Jared asked arching a brow at the blonde.
"Yeah I guess so," Kyle said slowly.
Jared gave Kyle a look that said he didn't believe him. Kyle just shook his head. He wasn't able to share this secret. It wasn't his to share.
"Just tell me it's not you," Jared said quietly.
"It's not me, trust me if I was, I would have told you first," Kyle replied. He pulled the older man closer as they danced. "I can't tell anyone right now. I have been sworn to secrecy. I will not break that trust."
"Why did you tell Miles it was Noah?" Jared asked.
"I didn't, he just assumed and I didn't correct him," Kyle said.
Jared took a step back to look into Kyle's eyes. Kyle knew that he was looking for any trace of a lie. Kyle pulled him close with a grin.
"I promise you it's not me," Kyle said locking eyes with the older man. "I can't say anything else. Please, you have to trust me."
"I do," Jared replied.
