Chapter 26: Help is on the Way
Kyle made his way down to the kitchen. They were going on day three of if the snowstorm. It had been raging in and off for the last few days. All the local news stations were urging people to remain in place and that help was on the way. Jared has been on the phone with the resort owner the last few days and they were working on getting people out. The plows had come this morning, but with the heavy amount of snow, it was slow work.
Over the last few days things had gotten tense around the cabin. Noah and Roldy had been moping around that they were missing their honeymoon in Hawaii. Matt and Miles were at odds with one another. You could only handle Miles for so long before he hit the wrong nerve. Penelope was avoiding everyone trying to get some peace and quiet, which was hard with Miles around. Jared was always calling Jill and Carly. Jared was also battling with Jill and Carly's school as they had missed the first few days back from break already. They didn't seem to believe that they were stranded. Kyle had developed major headaches over the last two days. He was avoiding everybody, or trying to.
"You're alive," Jared said.
"Not so loud please," Kyle asked. His head was pounding. Nothing he did seemed to be working.
"Still?" Jared asked following him into the kitchen.
"It's getting worse, it won't go away," Kyle said, shaking his head. Even that hurt. He felt nauseous and his body just aches too.
"Think you might be coming down something?" Jared asked, moving over to the blonde. He placed a hand on his forehead.
"I don't know," Kyle said.
"Dude help!" Miles ran into the room. Kyle flinched at the noise.
"Miles get back here so I can snap your neck," Matt called after him.
Miles hid behind Kyle and Matt stopped short of the blonde. He was pissed off and ready to murder.
"What did you do now?" Jared asked.
"It was a joke," Miles said.
"It wasn't funny," Matt said.
"It was hilarious, even Penelope laughed," Miles counterd as he ducked further behind Kyle.
"Can you not be so loud my head is pounding," Kyle said.
"Still?" Miles asked.
"Yes now excuse me I am just gonna go back to bed. Matt, please kill him quietly," Kyle said, shaking his head. He wasn't in the mood for this today.
"Dude, save me," Miles said.
"Sorry dude, I'm not feeling good. I need to go lay down. You need to fend for yourself," Kyle said.
He left the kitchen and made his way back upstairs. Jared and Miles followed him genuinely concerned for him. Kyle fell onto the bed as Jared and Miles hovered in the doorway.
"Go away," Kyle said.
"Kyle you're sick," Jared said entering the room.
"Are you dying? Do you need me to erase your browser history," Miles asked running over to the bed.
"Stop, but if and when yes," Kyle said, giving Miles half a smile.
"You two are awful," Jared said, shaking his head.
"Like you wouldn't have Roldy do the same," Miles replied.
"Do you think it's something you ate or-" Jared started, turning his attention to Kyle.
"Jared I've got a migraine. I'll be fine, I just need some peace and quiet to rest," Kyle said.
"Sorry," Jared said
"Now please go and let me rest. I'll be fine," Kyle said.
Jared nodded his head. He steered Miles towards the door.
"Wait, who's gonna protect me from Matt?" Miles asked suddenly.
"No one, you reap what you sow Miles. Gotta learn your lesson somehow," Kyle said.
"So not fair," Miles protested. "Can I stay if I be quiet."
"You don't know the meaning of the word," Jared laughed. He caught himself and apologized to Kyle. "Come on, I'll call him off this time, but you're on your own next time." He pushed Miles out the door.
Kyle was thankful for Jared. He rolled over on the bed snuggling into the blanket. He wanted nothing more than to pass out and wake up a week later. His head really hurt, and his body was aching. He needed to rest.

Kendall sighed as he hung up with the school. Kyle and Leora had missed their first week back after break. He had explained to them that they were stuck in a snowstorm. He assured them they were trying to get out, but most plows were getting stuck due to the massive amount of snow they had and nowhere to put it all.
He had been calling the resort owner everyday for an update. Today one of his utility vehicles had gotten stuck near the entrance to the resort and it would be a few hours before anyone could get out here to help them out.
"Is the school giving you the twenty questions too?"
Kendall looked up as Logan entered the room. He took a seat across from the blonde.
"Yeah, it's almost like they don't believe me," Kendal sighed.
"Same, but what can we do?" Logan shrugged.
The two fell into comfortable conversation as the rest of the cabin snoozed away. Most of them were still in bed or getting breakfast ready. James and Leora were working wonders in the kitchen the last few days, but they were starting to run low on food supplies. Kendall hoped that help would arrive soon.
Soon James told him to go wake the kids that breakfast was almost done. Kendall and Logan moved about the cabin waking everyone up.
Everyone settled into the kitchen for breakfast. Kendall was still amazed that Leora and James could pull it off and have food ready for everyone.
Once breakfast was done and the kids ran off Kendall hung back to help clean up. Soon it was just him and James alone. Kendall walked up to his husband with a smile.
"Not now we are cleaning up," James said, shaking his head without looking at the blonde.
"What?" Kendall asked.
"Don't play dumb with me Kendall," James saidmgiving Kendall the look.
Kendall put his hands up feigning innocence. He moved to stand beside James as he wiped the counter. He watched him. He watched as James bent over and his shirt rode up.
"You can't tell me no and then tease me like that," Kendall said.
James stood up straight and turned to Kendall who laughed. He closed the few steps between them.
"I'm joking," Kendal said. He leaned in and pecked James on the lips. "Love you."
"Love you too," James said smiling at him.
"Be honest with me, how much food do we have left," Kendall asked.
"We can make it through tomorrow maybe," James replied.
"I hope those plow trucks make it here soon," Kendall said. James nodded his head.
A commotion in the hallway caught their attention. They walked out to see the kids getting dressed in their snow gear.
"We are gonna go build some snowmen," Carly told them.
"We're bored, it might be fun," Leora said with a shrug.
"It's lame," Layla said, shaking her head.
"Come on squirt you can help me watch the boys," Jake said.
"Babysit no thanks," Layla said, making a face.
"They are sleeping, video games," Jake said.
"I'm in," Layla said causing Jake to laugh. The two took off leaving the others to play games.
"Have you seen the good doctor," Kendall asked once everyone was outside.
"Don't know, he got a phone call and took off," James shrugged.

Logan cradled his phone to his ear as he listened to his colleagues go through a differential diagnosis for a new patient of theirs. They were having trouble diagnosing and called Logan for help. He was more than happy to help, but without actually seeing the patient and knowing what tests they ran it was a little difficult. He was doing some quick research on his laptop as they talked.
"Maybe it's a parasite, you said the patient had traveled out of the country recently," Logan said.
He looked up as Carlos entered the room. He held a hand up to his husband and pointed to his phone.
"Work," Logan said, lowering the phone for a second.
"You're all the way across the state," Carlos said quietly, "how can you be of any help."
Logan just held a finger to his lips as he turned his attention to the task at hand. He needed to focus on this call. It was his job, even when he wasn't there.
Carlos seemed to have other ideas. He shut the bedroom door and locked it. Logan wasn't paying him any mind right now. He was busy with work.
Carlos stood in front of Logan with a grin. Logan gave him a confused look. Carlos started stripping until he was down to his underwear. He had Logan's attention now, well most of it.
"Yeah, I'm still here," Logan said distractedly.
"You're busy, I'll leave you be." Carlos grinned as he walked past Logan to the bed. Logan followed his every move.
Carlos laid down on the bed. Logan's eyes were on him like a hawk. Carlos just grinned as he scooted back on the bed putting himself on display for Logan.
Logan watched his every move. He was barely listening to his phone call anymore. He was just agreeing with his team at this point. He needed this call to end.
Carlos started to touch himself. He smirked as he saw Logan's eyes follow his hand. He slipped his hand under the waistband of his underwear with a gasp. Logan's jaw dropped as he watched Carlos.
"Don't mind me," Carlos said coyly. "You've got work to do."
Logan's jaw floundered as he listened to his phone call. He wasn't there, he couldn't do much other than bounce ideas and see if they stuck.
Carlos slipped his underwear down and kicked them off towards Logan. Logan shifted in his seat as his pants grew tighter. He had to reach down and adjust himself. Carlos' grin grew as he spread his legs for Logan.
"I'm here, I just...I-I can't really diagnose without a few more tests," Logan said, trying to sound as normal as possible.
Carlos brought two fingers up to his mouth. He sucked on them suggestively. They locked eyes as his fingers traveled lower. He gasped as he slipped a finger inside himself. Logan's eyes flew down and widened as he watched his husband fuck himself.
"I'm still thinking parasite," Logan said, his eyes never leaving Carlos. "You should run a few more tests and get a new sample. I'm sure we are missing something. Call me back once you have the results."
He hung up without another word. Carlos grinned at him. Logan stood up and stalked over to the bed. He grabbed Carlos by the ankle and pulled him towards him. Carlos Immediately sat up.
"You play dirty," Logan said looking down at him.
"Wel we are still technically on vacation, what are you doing on a work phone call?" Carlos asked as he started working on Logan's jeans.
"They needed help, they were stuck on a tough case," Logan said. He gasped as Carlos powered his jeans and underwear in one swift motion. His erection sprang free.
"Well, you are all mine now," Carlos said, forcing Logan to take a step back. He sank to his knees and quickly engulfed Logan's member.
Logan gasped as his knees trembled. He had not been expecting that so quickly. He brought a hand to Carlos' head to steady himself. He let the Latino work his magic. He felt himself nearing the edge. He gave Carlos' hair a gentle tug. It was their unspoken signal for stop. Carlos, however, had different ideas as he picked up the pace. It wasn't long before Logan was tumbling over the edge. Carlos swallowed everything like a pro. Logan urged Carlos to his feet. He smashed their lips together.
"You okay dirty," Logan said his voice thick with lust. "Now, turn around and bend over the bed, I'm going to fuck you so hard."
Carlos obeyed, putting himself on display. Logan licked his lips. He stepped up behind the Latino. He brought a hand down to his ass and squeezed the plump flesh there. Carlos wiggled his hips enticingly. Logan didn't wait. Using spit as lube, he entered his husband in one swift motion. Carlos groaned as he pushed his face into the bed. Logan gave him a moment to adjust. As bad as he wanted to fuck him, he didn't want to hurt the Latino.
"Move please," Carlos said
That was all the permission Logan needed. He started thrusting into the willing body below him. Carlos was trying to keep quiet, he was failing miserably. At this point, Logan didn't care.
It wasn't long before Logan felt himself nearing the edge again. The way Carlos was moaning and squirming, Logan knew he was close too. He pulled out. Carlos sat up and looked at him in shock.
"On your back," Logan commanded.
Carlos turned over and Logan pulled him back to the edge of the bed. He was engulfed in that tight heat again. He picked up where he had left off. This time he was able to help Carlos along. Carlos was the first to tumble over the edge and Logan wasn't far behind.
Soon the two were laying side by side on the bed, facing one another. Logan couldn't help but smile at the Latino.
"What brought that on?" Logan asked.
"You've been trying so hard for like three days. Most of the kids went out to play in the snow, and I threatened Kendall that I would let you finally castrate him if he came up here without an emergency," Carlos said.
Logan laughed and pecked the Latino. "I love you."
"I know," Carlos replied. "Love you too."
—Happy Mistakes—
Jared, Matt, Miles, and Noah were currently head to head in MarioKart. The trash talk was on and nothing was off the table. Roldy and Penelope were the fan section. Everyone seemed more relaxed than they had in days. No one was trying to kill the other at least for now. Video games seemed to be the key to getting along.
"Matt what are you doing?" Jared asked.
"Sucking. He's dead last," Miles said.
"Watch it Miles, he's got a plan, this is only the first lap after all," Noah said quickly.
"Or maybe I do just suck," Matt said shrugging.
"He's trying to trick you, don't fall for it," Roldy said quickly.
Knocking on the door silenced all trash talk. The guys all looked around at one another. Penelope sighed as she stood up. Jared and Matt followed her to the door. She opened the door to reveal a teen decked out in full snow gear.
"Hello, my name is Austin. My uncle owns this resort and asked me and my cousin to run supplies out to the cabins," he introduced himself.
"Oh hello," Penelope said, "I'm Penelope by the way, these two are Matt and Jared."
"Supplies?" Jared asked, stepping up beside Penelope.
"Food mostly," Austin replied, "how many people are here?"
"There's seven of us," Jared said, doing a quick head count in his head.
"Come with me, you can take what you need," Austin said.
Penelope, Matt, and Jared slipped on their boots and jackets. They followed Austin out to a snowmobile that had a sled attached to it. He pulled back the tarp and revealed food and water and toiletries.
"Oh my god you are a life saver," Penelope said. Matt grabbed some of the bottled water and Jared grabbed some food while Penelope grabbed a few other things they would need.
"Yeah, we've been trapped too, so when I got out today I asked Uncle Cal if he needed any help," Austin said.
"Well thank you, the supplies are very much appreciated," Matt said.
"You are welcome," Austin said. He helped them bring their stuff inside. Jared followed him to the door thanking him again. Austin left in his snowmobile. Jared was about to shut the door when he noticed him struggling to start his snowmobile.
"Everything alright?" Jared asked, stepping out onto the porch.
"I think I'm out of gas," Austin said looking down at his gas gauge.
"Come on in, you can get warm while you make a phone call," Jared said.
"Thanks," Austin said.
The two entered the cabin. Roldy came out to the hallway and paused when he saw Austin.
"Apparently snowmobiled need gas, who knew," Jared jokes, "this is Austin, Austin this is Roldy. Yes that's his name, it's a nickname since his real name is an old man's name."
Austin laughed at that. "I gotta make a phone call."
"We will be in the living room. We have a fire going; it'll probably feel nice to warm up. Make yourself comfortable. It could be a while that you're here," Jared said leading Roldy back into the living room. He explained everything to the others.
"Of course he can stay, it's not like we would make him wait outside," Matt replied.
"Right we're not heartless," Noah agreed.
Austin entered the living room. He told the guys that the plows were close by and would be here in a couple hours, as long as everything worked out, and that his cousin was across the resort so there was no gas coming for his snowmobile at the moment.
"That's fine, you can stay here and keep warm," Penelope said.
"Where's Miles?" Jared asked, looking around for the hyper teen.
"He went to check on Kyle and make sure that he was still alive," Penelope said.
"Right, so I'm gonna get ahead of the game here and apologize now for Miles, you will understand when he comes back, but I am sorry," Jared said.
"Yeah, he's...you'll see," Matt said shaking his head.
"He's not that bad," Noah said.
"What world are you living in?" Roldy asked.
It wasn't long before Miles returned with the news that Kyle was indeed still alive. He didn't notice Austin right away. When he did he did a double take.
"Hey you're that guy from the ski hill," Miles said.
"The people watcher," Austin said.
"That's me, and you keep turning up everywhere I am so I think that makes you the stalker," Miles joked.
"I like to think it's just a coincidence," Austin replied with a smile. "My uncle owns this resort and I was helping bring supplies out to the people stranded here and I got stranded."
"A likely story," Miles said.
—Happy Mistakes—
Leora sighed as she laid across her bed. Lilly was on the other bed in their room on her phone. They had been trapped for days and they were starting to get bored. They had all gone outside earlier and made snowmen and had a mini snowball war. It had been epic.
"So," Leora said, getting Lilly's attention.
"Yes," Lilly said, acknowledging her.
"What now?" Leora asked.
"What do you mean?" Lilly asked. There wasn't much for them to do. They just had to wait for help to arrive.
"I'm bored," Leora whined.
"Me too, join the club," Lilly laughed.
The two fell silent once more. They were running out of things to talk about. Leora sat up and turned to face her best friend. Lilly arched a brow at her confused.
"Are you really gonna go to Stanford for college?" Leora asked.
"Yeah, why?" Lilly asked.
"I'm gonna miss you, what am I gonna do when Kyle and Miles get on my nerves. I have no one to run to," Leora replied.
"You've got Layla," Lilly joked.
"Yeah, I guess, but she's busy with her own life you know," Leora said.
"This is something I gotta do Le," Lilly said, "We both know I can't stay in LA my whole life. I wanna explore and Stanford is the start. Who knows where it will lead me."
"I know, but I am really gonna miss you. You can't wait one more semester?" Leora asked.
"If I wait any longer, I won't go," Lilly said.
"Yeah you will, we can go together," Leora said, "but how about instead of North, we go east."
"East?" Lilly asked.
"You, me, NYC, a small studio apartment. It would be so awesome," Leora said.
"You forgot one thing," Lilly laughed.
"What?" Leora asked, confused.
"We are California girls, through and through. You wouldn't last one winter in. New York," Lilly said.
"Oh yeah," Leora said slowly. Lilly laughed again. She jumped up and walked over to Leora's bed. She joined the blonde on the bed.
"It's gonna be ok Le," she said softly. "I'll be one text away. All you gotta do is send me the SOS and I'll be here faster than you can say help."
"Ha, thanks Lil," Leora said smiling at that.
"I'm gonna miss you too, you know," Lilly replied.
"It's not that far away I guess and you can come visit and I'll visit you," Leora sighed. She knew she had lost this battle. As much as she didn't want Lilly to go, she wanted her to follow her dreams.
"Apply to Stanford, you can come up in the fall and we can share a dorm," Lilly said quickly.
"I don't know, we've always said New York," Leora replied.
"Come on Le, we were kids then," Lilly said.
"Maybe, but I've applied to NYU, Columbia and a few other colleges out east. I haven't heard back yet, but who knows," Leora said.
"Shit Le, you're serious," Lilly said.
"Yeah, I haven't told dad or pops yet either," Leora admitted. "I've been waiting to hear back from the universities before I said anything. I don't want to get my hopes up."
"New York is so far away though," Lilly said.
"I know, but maybe I just need to get away from LA and figure out my place in the world," Leora said.
"Figure out your place? What's wrong?" Lilly asked.
"I don't know," Leora sighed, "I guess I'm just tired of being known as Kendall and James' daughter, or Kyle's sister. I am Leora and I wanna make my way in the world on my own. I want people to know me for me, not who I'm related to."
"You don't need to go to New York to do that," Lilly said.
"I think I do. I want to get away and explore on my own and I want my best friend to come with me," Leora said.
"We could do it at Stanford," Lilly said.
"Aren't you tired of being called Carlos and Logan's daughter?" Leora asked.
"I mean it's kind of annoying, but it all comes with having famous dads. I'm used to it," Lilly said.
"I know that, and I've accepted that, but in. Ew York there won't be anyone who knows my brothers or they won't realize who my dads are. I just wanna get away from it all," Leora sighed.
"I get it, but like I said we have famous dads. It's never going away Le," Lilly said.
—Happy Mistakes—
Kyle stumbled down the stairs. It was late afternoon, or so he thought. He wasn't sure what was going on. He just needed some water and to get back into bed. His head was pounding, his stomach churned and he felt like he was going to puke. He heard shouts from the living room followed by laughter. He knew the guys were in there playing video games no doubt.
He made his way to the kitchen. As he walked in he was greeted with the sight of Miles and some guy he had never met before. The two seemed to be attached at the lips. Judging by how messed up their clothing was it seemed like they had been at this awhile.
Kyle cleared his throat. The two sprang apart. Miles turned to face Kyle shocked. He floundered as he tried to speak.
"Miles, who is your friend," Kyle asked laughing. It hurt his head, but this moment was too good to pass up.b
"Kyle," Miles said quickly, ears turning red. "This is Austin, he uh-brought some supplies and got stuck here." Austin made a hasty awkward exit.
"So, you decided to make him feel at home," Kyle said chuckling weakly.
"How are you feeling?" Miles asked, trying to change the subject.
"Worse I think," Kyle replied. "What was that?"
"That was Austin, the guy I met at the ski resort and then at the coffee shop in town. Turns out he was flirting with me," Miles said.
"I figured that much out," Kyle said, "so are you-"
"I think so, maybe," Miles said slowly.
"Maybe?" Kyle asked.
"How come you're sick and no one else is," Miles asked curiously. He wanted to redirect this conversation away from him.
"I'm not sick," Kyle said lowly.
"Obviously you are," Miles replied.
"No trust me, you're not going to get what I have," Kyle said, shaking his head.
"What are you-oh," Miles said as he realized what Kyle meant.
"Yeah, now I want some water and I am gonna go lay down," Kyle said.
There was no way anyone else was gonna get sick. Kyle wasn't sick. He was experiencing withdrawal. He hadn't thought he had been that dependent on the pills, but maybe he had been. All he knew was that he felt like crap. He hoped this would be over soon.
Kyle got himself a glass of water and left the kitchen. Miles followed him pestering him all the way to his room. Kyle stopped in the doorway and blocked Miles.
"Dude I am fine, you are not going to tell anyone, now leave me alone," Kyle said.
"Are you sure-?" Miles started
"I'll be fine, now go make out with your boy toy," Kyle said.
"Boy toy?" Miles asked.
"Well are you gonna see him after we leave?" Kyle asked arching a brow at Miles.
"Probably not," Miles said, shrugging.
"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine," Kyle replied.
—Happy Mistakes—
James made his way up the stairs to Leora and Lilly's room. They had just gotten some supplies from the resort owner's son, and the plows were close to getting them dug out. One of the things that had been included in the supplies was some hot chocolate. He was bringing the girls some since they weren't answering their phones. As he approached their room, he heard them talking.
"I don't know," Leora sighed, "I guess I'm just tired of being known as Kendall and James' daughter, or Kyle's sister. I am Leora and I wanna make my way in the world on my own. I want people to know me for me, not who I'm related to."
James paused as he listened to them talk. He had no idea that Leora felt that way. She was willing to go all the way to New York to get away from him and Kendall. He knew she used to dream about going to New York, but she hadn't said anything in years.
He turned and walked away. He made his way back down to the kitchen. Kendall was still in there with Logan and Carlos. The kids were probably in the living room getting the movie ready.
"They didn't want the hot chocolate," Carlos asked.
James looked down at the cups in his hands. "Oh, I forgot."
"You forgot?" Logan asked.
"What's wrong?" Kendall asked, noticing something was off.
James opened his mouth but Leora and Lilly ran into the kitchen.
"Hot chocolate?" Leora asked.
"How?" Lilly asked.
"I was about to bring some up," James said, holding out the cups.
"The resort owner's son brought some supplies to get us through to tomorrow. We should be able to leave by tomorrow," Kendall said.
"Cool, thanks," Leora said before they booked it back out of the room.
"James," Kendall said, walking over to him. "What happened?"
James waited until he was sure they were gone. He sighed, "I overheard them talking."
"About what?" Carlos asked.
James walked over to the table and sat down. The other three followed suit. Kendall gave him a look that told him to spill.
"Leora was talking about being stuck in our shadow. She wants to go to New York to get away from us," James said slowly.
"What?" Kendall asked.
"Well, we knew this day was coming. I can't imagine growing up with famous dads would be fun," Logan said.
"I get that, but I wish she would talk to us," James said.
"When?" Kendall asked. "I mean all our focus has been on the boys and Jenny. I'm helping Kyle with his music and you help Jake and Adam with the kids. Jenny is just a toddler and needs a lot of our attention."
"We are bad parents," James said.
"No you're not, Leora has always been the independent one," Carlos said.
"I wish she would talk to us," James sighed.
"Did you tell your mom everything when you were her age," Logan asked.
"Well no-" James started.
"Exactly, she's a teenager. She's not gonna tell you everything," Logan said.
"Kendall, make him stop," James whined.
"Logan you know better than to use logic with him," Kendall scolded the doctor.
"Sorry, I actually use my brain," Logan apologized.
"Kendall, we need to fix this," James said, ignoring Logan.
"How? She's gonna get suspicious if you try talking to her. Besides, she always wanted to move to New York when she grew up. Her and Lilly used to talk about it all the time," Kendall said.
"I get that, but I don't want her going if it's only because she wants to get away from us," James said.
"It's not us she wants to get away from James. It's Hollywood," Kendall replied.
"I know, but New York is so far away, why can't she just go upstate like Lilly," James asked.
"She's practically an adult James. She's gotta forge her own path," Kendall said.
"Sometimes I wonder if we made the right decision staying in LA," James sighed.
"As opposed to what exactly? Going back to Minnesota?" Kendall asked arching a brow at his husband. "You never would have been happy. James, you like all the attention too much. I don't think leaving LA was ever an option for us."
"He's got a point, LA has always been your dream," Carlos said.
James didn't want to admit that they were right. Being famous was always his dream. He loved singing, and modeling. He had found himself in California. Going back to Minnesota had never been an option.
"Look, we raised our kids the best we could. Now it's up to them to make their own decisions," Logan said.
"Stop using logic. This isn't the time or place for that," James joked. The guys all laughed at that.
