Chapter 36: Suspicious Minds

Jared yawned as he made his way down to the kitchen. Kyle was upstairs, passed out. He grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. He leaned against the counter as he took a sip of water.

Kyle was acting a bit strange lately. Jared wasn't sure what was up with the blonde. One minute he was all over Jared and the next he was being distant. He never knew which Kyle he was going to get from day to day. He had chalked it up to stress.

Over the last few days he had seen more of Kyle than anything. The weird part was Miles was nowhere to be seen. He wasn't used to not having Miles around. Kyle would shrug and say he was busy with Leora or his YouTube channel.

Everyone else was stressed about the tour. Things were all coming together quickly now. Everything was in the final stages before the tour started in a month. Everyone was on edge, but something was wrong with Kyle. Jared just wasn't sure what it was.

He wanted to talk to Kyle, but every time he tried to talk about it Kyle brushed him off, or changed the subject or they ended up naked. As fun as that was, Kyle was avoiding the problem. Jared hated that he was so easily distracted.

With a sigh he pushed himself away from the counter. He made his way back up to his bedroom. He paused in the doorway, looking at Kyle. He was sleeping so peacefully. Which was such a rarity anymore. There were many nights he had awoken to find Kyle wide awake working on homework or music. He never took a break. He was running himself to the bone literally. He had lost so much weight over the last few months. It was really noticeable. Jared had lost count how many people had asked him how Kyle was doing and if he was ok.

Jared made his way to Kendall's office. He had left Kyle with the guys while they rehearsed. He knocked before entering. Kendall looked up from his computer.

"Is everything ok? I was about to head over to check in," Kendall said.

"Everything's fine," Jared said waving a hand. "I just wanna talk."

"About?" Kendall asked, confused.

"Kyle," Jared said unsure.

Should he be doing this? Kyle would kill him if he knew. Kendall remained silent waiting for Jared to speak.

"I don't know what to do. He's working himself to the bone here. He's losing weight and insisting he's fine but he, like, never sleeps. I want to help him but the more I try the more he pushes me away. Somethings not right," Jared said in one breath.

"I know, and he's not talking to me or James about it either," Kendall sighed. "He won't even tell us about what the doctor said other than that he's got a high metabolism and that we shouldn't worry."

"I am worried though," Jared said as he fell into the chair across from Kendall's desk. "He's hiding something, I just know it."

"I know, but you know Kyle. Lately it seems like the more we press him the more he runs and hides. I'm sure if you wanna know what's going on ask Miles. Kyle tells him everything," Kendall said.

"Yeah, but Miles won't say anything either. Those two are something else," Jared said looking down at his lap.

Kyle and Miles were closer now than ever. For a moment there after Miles had come out, he had been so scared that Kyle would finally realize his feelings for Miles. Jared wasn't stupid. He had seen it coming. They were getting closer and they had always been a package deal. It was only a matter of time before Kyle left him for Miles, but then, Miles shocked him by going on a date with Leora. Jared would take it. He loved Kyle and was scared to lose him, that was his irrational side trying to get the better of him. Kyle and Miles were just friends.

"Something wrong?" Kendall asked, bringing him from his thoughts.

"No," Jared said unsure of how to say this.

"What's wrong?" Kendall asked, confused. He could tell there was something Jared wanted to say.

"No it's nothing, it's silly really," Jared said, shaking his head.

"What?" Kendall asked.

Jared sighed as he fidgeted with his hands. "It's just...when Miles came out...I don't...I mean I thought for sure him and Kyle would...you know."

"Kyle and Miles?" Kendall asked slowly.

"It's ridiculous really, but like it makes sense in a way. They've always been super close and...tell me I'm crazy," Jared said.

"You know they've been best friends since kindergarten right. miles didn't have the best home life as a child so he practically lived with us growing up, or they were always at Jayda's house. They are just super close," Kendall asked.

"Yeah, like I said it's crazy. It's my insecurities talking," Jared said jumping up. "Forget I said anything."

"Jared," Kendall said.

"Seriously forget I said anything," Jared said, shaking his head. He fled from the office. He couldn't believe he had said that. There was no way Kyle would leave him for Miles. They were just really good friends, like him and Roldy.

"Jer?"

Jared snapped back to reality. He looked over at Kyle who was sitting up looking at him. He looked slightly panicked. The sheets were pooled around his waist. He tilted his head to the side.

"Com'ere," Kyle said, holding his hands out to the older man.

Jared moved over to the bed. He crawled into the blonde's embrace.

"Sorry, I went to get some water and then I saw you sleeping so peacefully, I didn't want to disturb you," Jared apologized.

"You not being here woke me up," Kyle said pulling the older man closer as they laid down. "Don do tha," he mumbled sleepily.

"I'm here," Jared assured the blonde. Kyle's breathing evened out quickly.

Jared looked down at him confused. That was a new one. Kyle was never usually that upset about him leaving bed. He'll have to ask him about that one later.

—Happy Mistakes—

Miles tapped his foot as he waited. He checked his phone again. He had already been here for ten minutes already. He debated on leaving. This was a mistake. He should never have made that phone call.

A tap at the window caused him to jump. He quickly unlocked the car door. Jayda slid into the car.

"Hey sorry I'm late," she greeted him.

"Hi," Miles said simply.

"What's wrong, you sounded a little distressed on the phone," Jayda said.

"I shouldn't have come here," Miles said looking down at the steering wheel.

"Miles what's wrong," Jayda said.

"I can't tell you," Miles said, shaking his head. "This was a mistake. I'm sorry for making you rush out here."

"Miles Nathaniel," Jayda said.

"Don't-" Miles said looking up at her in panic. He really shouldn't have asked her to come out. This was a mistake. Kyle would kill him.

"I didn't come all the way across town to be told to forget it. Something is wrong. I've been trying for weeks now to get you to open up to me," Jayda said glaring at him.

"I know...but I can't tell," Miles said.

"Miles you're one of my very best friends. I will not judge you. I want to help," Jayda said.

"I'm not in love with Leora," Miles blurted out.

"What?" Jayda asked.

"There's someone else, but like it could never happen because he doesn't feel that way for me and he has a boyfriend already," Miles said quickly, gripping the steering wheel tight.

"Explain," Jayda said.

"It doesn't matter. He's got a boyfriend and I've got Leora," Miles said shaking his head. He really shouldn't have done this.

"Miles," Jayda said.

"We were just experimenting," Miles said, "it wasn't supposed to amount to nothing, but it was fun. We would sneak around when we could, but somewhere along the lines I caught feelings, and watching him go back to his boyfriend started to hurt."

"Miles," Jayda said shocked.

"I know, I've always hated cheaters with a passion, but I told myself that this wasn't cheating. He was just helping me figure out my sexuality. It meant nothing," Miles said tears stinging at his eyes. He looked away from her.

"He used you Miles," Jayda said angrily.

"No he didn't, I used him. I started it. I kissed him first," Miles said, shaking his head. He was to blame.

"No, he had a boyfriend already. He never should have let it get that far," Jayda said angrily.

"Stop, it's my fault. I kept coming back for more. It was me," Miles said.

"Stop being so down on yourself. You are not to blame," Jayda said.

"Yes I am, I screw everything up!" Miles shouted. He covered his mouth as Jayda shrunk back from him. "Sorry, I just…I mess everything up. I am a bad luck charm or something." He added calmly.

"No, you were taken advantage of," Jayda said.

"Was I? I knew what I was doing. I knew that after we finished he was going back to him. I knew he would never think of me like that," Miles said quickly. He fought back the tears that were close to spilling now.

"Miles," Jayda said softly.

"Why can't I do anything right?" Miles asked, his tears finally falling. He slammed his fist on the steering wheel. "Six months ago I would have been excited for Leora to ask me out. Six months ago things were simpler. I almost wish I had never kissed Kyle." His eyes went wide as he realized what he had said.

"Excuse me?" Jayda said slowly.

"I mean…" Miles said.

"Oh my god Miles, are you in love with Kyle?" Jayda asked.

"No-" Miles started.

"Don't lie to me! I knew something was up," Jayda said.

"Ok fine, it started out as a joke. He kissed me on New Years as a joke, but I was already questioning my attraction to guys. So I kissed him again a few days later," Miles explained. "It was supposed to stop at that."

"But?" Jayda asked.

"I don't know, it just happened," Miles said shrugging.

Miles made his way up to Kyle's bedroom. They had been home from the ski resort for a few days now, and he had barely seen the blonde. He was sure that he had messed everything up by kissing Kyle at that gas station.

He entered the room without knocking. Kyle was laying across his bed on his phone. He looked up at him and arched a brow.

"Have you been avoiding me?" Miles asked as he sat down beside the blonde.

"What? No," Kyle said confused, not bothering to sit up.

"I've barely seen you the last few days," Miles said.

"Sorry, I've been busy with Jared and his sisters. CPS is annoying. They think I'm too young to be helping Jared take care of his sisters," Kyle said.

"Oh, I just thought…" Miles said slowly.

"That's dangerous," Kyle teased.

"Shut up," Miles said shoving Kyle. Kyle laughed as he shoved him back.

"What did you think of Miles," Kyle asked.

"I've been thinking about that kiss to be honest and I think I might be bi or something," Miles admitted.

"Yeah? Have you fallen desperately in love with me after one kiss?" Kyle laughed.

"Hardly, but I think I need to do some more experimenting," Miles said thoughtfully.

"Oh really now?" Kyle asked, sitting up finally.

"Yeah, how else am I going to figure out if I'm truly attracted to guys if I don't experiment?" Miles asked logically.

"Makes sense," Kyle shrugged.

"Yeah, but like I'm not gonna whore myself around, but if the situation presents itself," Miles said.

"Like this?" Kyle asked.

Before Miles could question him, Kyle kissed him. It was soft and gentle. Miles' eyes slipped shut as his stomach fluttered. What was this effect Kyle was having on him? It didn't make any sense. They parted, both slightly short of breath.

"Yeah, like that," Miles said nodding his head slowly.

"More?" Kyle asked.

"Yeah, like I said I gotta be sure," Miles agreed.

Kyle leaned in and captured his lips in a kiss again. This one, more intense than the last one. Miles let Kyle take the lead. He had more experience in this field than he did.

"You two are so stupid," Jayda said.

"Yeah, we are," Miles agreed, looking down at his lap. "You can't tell anyone. I mean it Jay. This stays between us. Kyle and I are done with that. I am dating Leora now."

"But you told me you didn't love her," Jayda said.

"I could," Miles said, "possibly."

"It's not fair to lead her on like this," Jayda said.

"What am I supposed to do? Tell her 'Hey this isn't working. I've been screwing around with your brother behind your back and I think I like him more?' That's not gonna be any better," Miles said.

"Well you don't gotta say it like that," Jayda said.

"Jay please, I don't want to hurt her and who knows maybe I'm just confused. I'm not sure how I really feel," Miles said, turning to look at her fighting tears again.

"You and Kyle are done with whatever it is you were doing," Jayda asked.

"Yes I am done," Miles promised.

"If she asks-" Jayda said.

"I won't give her a reason to doubt," Miles said quickly. "I will give this relationship my all, and if after prom I don't feel anything I'll call it off."

"Fine, but-!" Jayda started.

"No buts, I am done letting him walk all over me. If he wants to continue this he has to break up with Jared and I with Leora," Miles said.

"Good," Jayda said, "otherwise I'll kick both your asses."

"I'd expect nothing less from you Jay," Miles said.

—Happy Mistakes—

Kyle yawned as he made his way down to the kitchen. The sun was barely up, but he couldn't sleep anymore. He quickly set about making breakfast for himself and Jared. He decided on scrambled eggs and ham with toast. It was simple and quick.

As he ate, his thoughts turned to last night. He had woken up in the middle of the night from a nightmare. It had been so vivid and real. It freaked him out.

Kyle smiled as he and Miles laid together a mess to tangled limbs in post coital bliss. Everything was great.

One look down at Miles, he could tell he was probably having similar thoughts. It had been a long time coming, but they finally did it.

What did this mean for their friendship? What did it mean for their relationships?

Kyle closed his eyes. Right now he didn't care. He was here with Miles. Everything felt so right. Miles fit so perfectly against him. He got that warm fuzzy feeling he had ever only felt with Jared before. That thought should have scared him, but it didn't. This was Miles.

"Why'd we wait so long to do that?" Miles murmured sleepily.

"I don't know, let's not wait that long again," Kyle said.

"What about-?" Miles started.

"Not right now," Kyle said, silencing him with a kiss.

It was meant to be a simple kiss to quiet Miles down, but Miles had other ideas. He nipped at Kyle's lip as he deepened the kiss. He rolled on top of the blonde.

"Is this soon enough for you?" Miles asked as he started to grind against the blonde. He was already aroused again.

"I've made a slut out of haven't I?" Kyle chuckled as he pulled Miles closer. He gasped as their hips came together.

"Only for you," Miles replied, leaning forward and sealing their lips together again.

This kiss was slow and passionate. It expressed what words could not. Words were no longer needed. They both knew how the other felt.

"What's going on here?!"

Kyle sat up as Jared stood in the doorway. He floundered as he tried to find words. Miles flailed as he tried to rattle off something coherent but it made no sense.

Kyle sat up panting. He looked around the room. Miles was nowhere to be seen. In the moment that had all felt so real. What did it mean? He wasn't in love with Miles. It was just a dream.

He looked around the room. Jared was leaning against the doorframe, spacing out. He took a few calming breaths and gathered his wits. Jared didn't even seem to notice he was awake.

"Jer?"

That had all felt so real. The emotions overwhelmed him. It was scary how intense it had felt. What he had felt for Miles in that dream. Was it real? He shook his head. He had to push all those thoughts away. It would never happen. Miles was with Leora and he was with Jared. That's how it was supposed to be. Besides he loved Jared. He wanted to be with Jared for a long long time.

Eventually, he wandered down to the basement that Jared had been converting into a home studio. It was mostly done, but there were a few more things they wanted to finish off the room. It was basically a recording studio at home. Kyle got lost in his music. It was better than being stuck inside his own head. His mind was a dangerous place. The words just flowed out onto the page and the music came to him.

He moved to the piano that Jared had bought special for him. Kyle had taken up learning to play again. Gustavo had taught him the basics when he was younger, but he never fully learned how to play. Noah on the other hand was an amazing pianist. He was over all the time helping Kyle.

He set his notebook up in front of him. He started playing a melody that he had been toying around with. He started singing to the melody, tweaking and changing it as he went along.

"Kyle! Are you still down there! You're gonna be late for school if you don't leave in the next ten minutes!"

Kyle jumped at the sudden noise. He called back to Jared that he was coming up. He closed his notebook and tossed it back in with his guitar. He ran up the stairs where Jared was waiting with his backpack.

"Thanks," he said, giving him a peck on the cheek.

"I have the day off, so I'll see you when you're done at the studio," Jared said.

"Yeah, Miles will probably tag along. He's curious to see how everything's coming along and he's gonna stow away with us this summer anyways," Kyle said.

"I figured as much," Jared chuckled. Jared seemed like he wanted to say more.

"What?" Kyle asked.

"Are we gonna talk about last night?" Jared asked.

"What about it?" Kyle asked.

"Whatever nightmare woke you up in a panic like that," Jared said.

"Oh that, no not at all," Kyle said, shaking his head. "Don't worry about it. It was nothing. I just thought you were gone, my anxiety is getting bad again. Maybe I'll have to ask if they can up my meds."

"Why would you think I was gone?" Jared asked.

"Because you weren't in bed with me. Last thing I remember was you next to me," Kyle said, "now I gotta go or I'm gonna be late and I'll never hear the end of it from dad."

"This conversation isn't over," Jared called as he dashed out the door.

—Happy Mistakes—

Kendall fumbled around the kitchen making breakfast. Jenny was sitting in her high chair happily eating her Cheerios. He wasn't the best cook, but he could make a basic breakfast. Leora wandered down eventually. She paused when she saw him cooking.

"Where's pops? Is he sick or something?" She asked.

"No, I thought I would let him sleep in for once. I'm making breakfast," Kendall said, pushing a plate of eggs, hash browns and toast at her.

"Thanks," Leora said, eyeing him suspiciously.

"You kids act like I'm a bad cook. I burned dinner once and you never let me forget it," Kendall sighed.

"You burned it because you have undiagnosed ADHD and refuse to get tested," Leora replied as she took her plate to the table. "Also it's just weird that pops isn't here."

"He deserves a break once in a while," Kendall said.

"Yeah, by the way his birthday is this summer and I was thinking maybe we could surprise him with a mini vacation and join you guys on the road for a bit. I think I checked the schedule and you guys would be on the east coast then," Leora said casually.

"Does this also happen to coincide with a possible tour of NYU?" Kendall asked.

"What?!" Leora asked feigning innocence. "I would never be that devious."

"Is that really where you want to go?" Kendall asked.

"Yeah, I've made my decision," Leora nodded her head. "I've sent in all the paperwork to get things started."

"You're not just doing this to get away from us?" Kendall asked.

"What no, I've always wanted to go New York," Leora said.

"Leora," Kendall said.

"Ok maybe just a little," Leora sighed. She looked down at her food. "I just need to go somewhere people don't know me as Kyle's sister or Kendall and James' daughter. I need a place where I can be me and have no expectations."

"I don't want you doing this to spite us, I want you to do this because it's what you want," Kendall said.

"It's not out of spite," Leora said looking up. "I love you guys, but I need to be free from your guy's shadow. Away from Kyle and Adam and the people asking me if I got knocked up yet. It's annoying. I just want to be me and discover who I am as a person."

"Ok then, just know that you can come home whenever you need to," Kendall said.

"I know dad," she said.

"I mean whenever or we can come to you. I just...New York is so far away, can't you go to Stanford with Lilly?" He asked.

"I've thought about it, and she's still trying to convince me, but New York is calling my name," Leora said.

"So what does this mean for you and Miles then? I doubt he's gonna wanna go to New York," Kendall asked as he joined her at the table finally.

"Who told you?" Leora asked.

"Does it matter? I want you to think about it, before you get serious and decide on if this is gonna last," Kendall said.

"I really like him, but you are right. I don't think he's gonna leave Kyle for New York with me. Those two are...something else," Leora said slowly as she toyed with her eggs.

"Like Jared always says, you can't have one without the other," Kendall said.

"Oh it's so annoying though, like Kyle needs to chill," Leora said.

"Think about it Leora. Miles is his best friend and suddenly someone else is competing for his attention. Of course he's gonna act out and stake his claim. Him and Miles are a package deal. Always have been and always will be," Kendall said.

"But he's one of the few who have been trying to get us together!" Leora said, throwing her hands up.

"So, you're stealing his best friend," Kendall said.

"Boys are stupid," Leora said shaking her head.

"No-" Kendall started.

"Yes they are and you don't understand why because you're one of them. I'm calling auntie Katie," Leora said jumping up.

"If that's what you gotta do," Kendall said, "I'm sure she will tell you something similar."

"I get going, I'll probably be home right after school because I have no social life and Kyle will probably drag Miles to the studio again," Leora said, waving him off as exited the kitchen.

Kendall turned to Jenny. She was oblivious to everything around her. She was just enjoying her breakfast in ignorant bliss.

"Never grow up Jenny, it's a trap," he sighed. She looked up at the sound of her name. He grinned at her, causing her to grin as well.

—Happy Mistakes—

Carlos yawned as he stretched and rolled over. He snuggled closer to Logan. He was vaguely aware of the sunlight casting in through the window. He pressed his face into Logan's back.

Logan's back.

Logan.

He was supposed to be at work by now. Carlos sat up and looked at the clock and saw his fear was confirmed. It was after nine already. What about Layla and Miles.

"Logie, don't you have to be at work?" He asked poking the sleeping man next to him. "I hope the kids got up."

"They went to school, I made sure. Also, I called in, they can survive one day without me," Logan mumbled. "Now lay back down and relax. We barely get a day off together."

Carlos relaxed as he laid down. He wrapped an arm around Logan.

"Don't make this a habit," he mumbled.

"Yes dear," Logan chuckled. He turned to face the Latino. "I just wanted to spend the day with you, is that so bad?"

"I don't deserve this," Carlos said looking away from Logan.

"Stop, we've moved past that," Logan said frowning.

Ever since the whole Damien incident Carlos had been beating himself up. Sure, Logan hadn't fully forgiven him for lying about it yet, but he could kind of see things from Carlos's point of view too. They were working on it in therapy. They had both come a long way since they had started seeing Darlene.

"I know, but..you should be furious with me. I would be," Carlos said.

"Stop Carlos, dwelling on the past does us no good. Let's live in the moment," Logan said leaning in and pressing a gentle kiss to his lips.

"Right, in the moment," Carlos said, nodding his head.

"So how about we go make breakfast," Logan asked.

"Then what?" Carlos asked.

"Don't know, too busy living in the moment," Logan shrugged. "At this moment I am hungry."

Carlos chuckled at that. He leaned in and kissed him once more.

"Or," Logan said slowly. Carlos arched a brow at him. "We could stay in bed a little longer."

"Oh whatever shall we do to pass the time," Carlos asked with a grin.

"I'm sure we can think of something," Logan said as he pulled the Latino closer. He rolled over until he was straddling him.

"Why Dr. Mitchell, are you trying to seduce me," Carlos asked.

"Yes I am, is it working?" Logan asked as he ground his hips down. His morning wood digging into Carlos' thigh.

"God yes," Carlos said, wrapping his arms around Logan. He pulled him into a kiss.

Logan started to grind his hips down into Carlos. It seemed to awaken something within the Latino. Carlos matched his rhythm. Their kisses became sloppy and rough.

Logan started trailing kisses down his neck. He sucked and nipped at the sensitive skin. He moved lower kissing along his navel and down to the waistband of his underwear. He rubbed his hand over the bulge before him.

Logan sat back and looked up at Carlos who was panting and heaving. Even after all this time, he could still leave Carlos a panting mess. He could get him all worked up with a few well placed kisses.

"Logan," Carlos said sitting up. He brought him in for a kiss. That seemed to bring Logan back to reality. "Stop thinking so hard."

"Sorry, old habits," Logan replied. He pushed the Latino back down to the bed, ready to devour him. He stripped him of his clothes in one swift motion.

—Happy Mistakes—

Miles tapped his foot as he looked around the cafeteria. He was sitting with Lucas and Leora. They were both chatting and laughing, paying no mind to him. Miles was looking for Kyle. He had been acting strange all day, and he had barely even seen him.

"Have you guys heard from Kyle?" Miles asked looking over at the other two.

"Not lately," Leora shrugged.

"Maybe he's busy," Lucas said.

"Yeah," Miles said slowly. Something wasn't right. This wasn't like Kyle to skip lunch without a reason.

Miles jumped up from the table. Lucas and Leora didn't even seem to notice. He left the cafeteria on a mission. He passed Kyle's locker on the way and didn't see the blonde. He made his way out to the parking lot. He saw Kyle's car and no sign of him. There was only one place left to check.

He made his way to the auditorium and up to the projector room. He found Kyle sitting on the floor sporting a black eye and a fat lip. Kyle looked up in panic before relaxing.

"What happened to you?" Miles asked as he crossed the small room.

"I got mouthy with Tragger. He was talking down about Lucas and Artie, so of course I had to put my two cents in and he's in a lot worse shape than I am," Kyle said.

"Dude, you need to learn to keep your mouth shut," Miles said shaking his head. He sat down beside the blonde.

"Yeah, if you heard what they were saying you'd have said something too," Kyle said.

The two lapsed into silence as they sat there. Miles was sure there was more to this then Kyle was letting on. He had been acting strange all day.

"So," Miles said slowly. Kyle looked up at him. "What have you been up to all day? Feels like I've hardly seen you."

"I've been busy," Kyle said slowly.

"Yeah getting beat up. If you can let me know I could have helped," Miles said, turning to face the blonde.

"Ha, I'll keep that in mind next time," Kyle laughed.

Miles grinned as they slid into familiarity. This was easy for them. They could go from awkward to relaxed in seconds.

"So, fill me in what happened," Miles said.

Kyle laughed into his story of what happened. He had heard Tragger talking about Lucas and his sissy boyfriend. They said bad things about Artie, which made Kyle step in to defend him. Tragger punched first and Kyle finished it knocking him to the ground before he was able to get away. That's why he was hiding.

"By the way, think you can come with me later," Kyle said, reaching into his bag and pulling out his glasses which were now cracked.

"Dude! You've had them like two weeks," Miles said.

"I know, but it got a warranty and they can fix them for like twenty bucks or something," Kyle said.

"Yeah, I'll come with," Miles chuckled.

"Thank dude," Kyle said, "so, how did things go with Leora last night? Did you two finally make it official."

"We haven't talked about it," Miles shrugged, "I mean she hasn't brought it up yet."

"Maybe she's waiting to get you alone," Kyle shrugged.

"Maybe," Miles agreed slowly.

Kyle leaned over and sealed their lips in a kiss. Miles fell right back into that familiar battle. He couldn't say no to Kyle, no matter how much he wanted to.

He wasn't sure how he felt about this. His conversation with Jayda was still fresh in his mind. He had already broken his promise to her. Could he love Leora? Was he really in love with Kyle? This would pass. They were best friends. That was it. Was Leora patient enough to wait while he figured everything out. He could tell she was starting to get a little impatient with him. She was hinting so hard about prom coming up soon. That was the deadline he had set for himself too. If after that he didn't feel anything for her, he would end it.

"We can't keep doing this," Miles said once they parted for air. "I'm dating your sister and you've got Jared."

He had to do this. He had to be firm and let Kyle know that this wasn't ok anymore. They were done, unless they broke up with Jared and Leora. This wasn't fair to them to sneak around behind their backs.

"You're probably right," Kyle said, turning away from Miles.

"I am right, this has gone farther than it should have," Miles said.

"Yeah," Kyle agreed. His eyes flicked down to Miles' lips and back up.

"One more time won't hurt," Miles said as he leaned in and crashed their lips together. He knew this was wrong. He shouldn't be doing this, but he couldn't stop himself. He climbed into the blondes lap. Kyle quickly anchored his hands on his hips as they started making out.

There was a risk of getting caught. It made it more fun. It was a thrill. Kyle seemed to have the same idea as he pulled him closer.

The bell rang, signaling they had five minutes to get to class, but neither of them cared. All that mattered right now was each other. Besides, it was just a study hall. It's not like it was an actual class. This was more fun anyways.

—Happy Mistakes—

Jared looked out at the people milling about the small cafe. It was mostly celebrities or almost celebrities. There was no here who was gonna freak and swarm him. He checked his watch again checking the time.

"I'm late."

Jared looked up as Roldy sat down across from him.

"Yeah you are," Jared agreed, "but so is she, so don't sweat it."

"Sorry, Joey popped in for a visit," Roldy said.

"If you were busy we could have rescheduled," Jared said.

"No, Joey is gonna be staying for a few days. He's arguing with Minnie and needs to get away," Roldy said waving a hand.

"Are you sure Noah is gonna be ok with this?" Jared asked.

"Well we will have to wait and see," Roldy said.

"If she even shows up," Jared said.

"Relax," Roldy said, "no need to be so wound up so tight."

"I'm not wound tight, I spent a while unwinding last night," Jared replied with a grin.

"Ok first off ew, I don't need that mental image and secondly how are things? Better I presume," Roldy asked.

"I don't know, he's avoiding something still, but it's probably better not to push him. He'll talk when he's ready. I mean he's so busy between work and school and now his counseling sessions," Jared said.

"Counseling?" Roldy asked.

"Oops, don't tell him I said anything but he sees a therapist every Wednesday for his anxiety and she's got him on some medication for anxiety too," Jared said.

"That's good though that he's getting help," Roldy said.

"Yeah, I still feel like he's keeping something from me," Jared said.

"Like what?" Roldy asked.

"I don't know, I just...I think maybe Kendall's paranoia is contagious," Jared chuckled, shaking his head. There was nothing to worry about. Kyle

Would tell him if something was wrong.

"Maybe," Roldy agreed. "So when is this realtor supposed to be here?" He asked.

"She said noon," Jared said, pulling out his phone to check it again. He saw he had a new voicemail. He checked it and sighed. "She just left me a message saying she's running late, but she gave me the address of the first house to meet her there instead."

"Cool, let's go," Roldy said, jumping up. Jared threw some money on the table for a tip and followed him out of the cafe.

Leora ran to her locker and quickly exchanged her books. As she turned to leave she saw Miles standing there. She jumped slightly. She hadn't seen him since he had left lunch searching for Kyle.

"Way to scare the crap outta me," Leora said, punching his arm playfully.

"Sorry, walk you to class?" Miles asked.

"Sure, did you find Kyle?" Leora asked.

"Yeah, he's got into it with the football players again. He was hiding from them in the projector room," Miles said as he linked his arm with hers. "Let's not talk about Kyle though."

"Ok what did you have in mind then," Leora said as she steered him down the hall towards her next class.

"Prom," Miles said slowly.

"What about it?" Leora asked, stopping in her tracks. She looked at Miles expectantly.

"Did you want to-no not that way Miles," Miles chastised himself causing Leora to giggle. "Can we-no not that way." He hung his head and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I'm not good at this kind of thing."

"I think you're looking for will you go to prom with me?" Leora supplied him.

"Yes that, will you?" Miles asked lifting his gaze to meet hers.

"I thought you'd never ask," Leora said smiling. "And of course I will."

"Awesome," he said smiling. He started directing her down the hallway again. He seemed extra antsy.

"You ok?" She asked.

"Yeah, I was just nervous," He admitted.

"That I would say no?" She asked.

"Maybe, I mean...yeah," he said slowly.

Something was off about him. He was acting so strange right now. What was he so nervous about?

"I mean we're dating, why would I say no," Leora said.

"Are we?" Miles panicked. "Cause I was taking with Jayda and like you've told her we've been on lots of dates and stupid me only really counted like three of them. I'm not that good at this stuff. I don't notice when people flirt, or like when we are on a date I guess."

"Oh," Leora said.

"Like up at the ski resort. I had to ask Kyle if this guy was flirting with me, and he totally was," Miles said thinking back. "Like I didn't realize it, and after I did I became like this awkward dork, but he must've dug it cause it worked."

"What?" Leora asked.

"Oh yeah, there was this guy up north that I experimented with. It's what started the whole sexuality thing. I was curious and there were no strings attached," Miles shrugged.

"And?" Leora asked.

"As fun as it was to make out, I wasn't attracted to him because he was a guy. He made me laugh and laughed at my jokes, Noah was the one who brought up pansexual and it just fit," Miles said. "Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that, I'm sorry I'm so dense."

Leora stopped at her classroom. "It's ok, we are still figuring this out. I mean this is still a bit strange to me too," she said.

"Good so it's not only me," Miles sighed.

"Yeah, well this is me, I'll see you later," She said pointing to her class.

"Ok, I'll see you later," he said smiling. It didn't seem to reach his eyes.

He took off down the hall trying to get to his next class on time. She entered her class and took her seat near the back. The bell rang signaling class was starting. She got her notebook out to take notes, but her mind was elsewhere.

Miles was acting really strange lately. Every time she tried to ask him about their relationship status he clammed up. He would stutter and change the subject. Plus he was so back and forth. It seemed like he wanted to be with her and then he would avoid her for a few days here and there. Then suddenly he was all over her again. She would have to ask Kyle what was up, maybe he knew.

Honestly, She hadn't expected him to actually ask her to prom. She had been sure he would be like Kyle had been with Lilly and just assume they were going together and ask her last minute.

—Happy Mistakes—

Logan jerked awake to the slamming of the front door. He looked around the living room. He looked down at Carlos who was sleeping soundly against him. He heard Layla call out that she was home.

"Los," Logan nudged him. Carlos grumbled as Logan called out that they were in the living room. Layla entered the living room with Millie behind her.

"Were you sleeping?" Layla asked.

"Yes, go away," Carlos said leaning further into Logan.

Millie started to giggle. Layla nudged her.

"We were watching a movie and fell asleep," Logan explained.

"We'll be upstairs then," Layla said, turning and leaving. She dragged Millie with her.

"Come on Los, Miles should be home soon too, we should probably make something for them to eat," Logan chuckled.

"They are old enough to fend for themselves," Carlos said, pouting.

"Come on, time to get up," Logan chuckled.

"Nope, too comfy," Carlos said.

"Come on, it was nice having the whole day to ourselves, but it's time to be adults again," Logan said.

"Order them pizza, they are teenagers and can survive off of that," Carlos grumbled as he sat up.

"Ok pizza tonight, but you still have to get up," Logan chuckled again.

It was moments like this that he cherished. They weren't fighting. They were just comfortable. They were playfully bantering. It was light and comfortable. Maybe they stood a chance after all.

"Stop thinking so hard," Carlos said as he pressed a kiss to his cheek. Logan turned and caught his lips.

"Not thinking too hard, just can't help but feel lucky that we've made it this far together," Logan said.

"Yeah, let's keep moving forward from here, no more secrets," Carlos promised.

"Yes, I think we've finally got the hang of this," Logan said, nodding his head.

They heard the front door slam and then Miles called out before running straight to his room. Logan stood and stretched his bone cracking as he moved for the first time in hours. He turned and held a hand out to Carlos. Carlos sighed as he took it and heaved himself up.

"It was nice having a lazy day with you," Carlos said smiling.

"For sure, we have to do this more often," Logan said.

"So pizza?" Carlos asked.

"Can you go ask the girls what they want on their pizza," Logan said. Carlos nodded and left the room.

Logan made his way to Miles too. He knocked and opened the door. He was greeted with the sight of Miles using his phone to look at his side with his shirt up.

"What are you doing?" Logan asked.

"Is this a bruise?" Miles asked, turning to Logan so he could see a slight bruise forming on his side.

"Did you get into another fight?" Logan asked with a frown.

"He swung first," Miles said, "I was just defending myself and Artie. They were talking smack about him and Lucas again. Those punks need to find a new past time I swear."

"You can't go around starting fights Miles," Logan sighed.

"They swung at us first," Miles said.

"Us?" Logan asked.

"Kyle was there, they sucker punched him," Miles said, "we got a few good blows in before they took off running."

"Miles," Logan sighed.

"I know, but you should have heard the things they were saying. They deserved it," Miles said, shaking his head, "they were talking about Artie and Lucas. They were calling Artie not so nice things that I will not repeat, but Kyle and I told them to grow up and stop picking on people who weren't even there to defend themselves. Tragger is an asshole and stormed up to us and tried to bait us into hitting him, but Kyle was too snarky for him. It was a real verbal beating."

"So where do the bruises come into play?" Logan asked.

"Tragger got mad and sucker punched Kyle. Kyle didn't take it sitting down and his stupid football buddies got me involved," Miles said.

"You know what you did was wrong, don't do it again. If they wanna talk that way, ignore it," Logan said.

"I will do my best," Miles promised.

"Am I gonna get a call from the school?" Logan asked.

"Hard to tell, they took off before a teacher could get involved," Miles said.

"What's going on with you and Kyle lately. It seems like you're getting into more trouble lately," Logan sighed as he leaned against the door.

"Not any more so than usual," Miles shrugged.

"Unless you're just getting caught more," Logan mused.

"Yeah, that's probably it," Miles said, "so what's for supper. I'm hungry." He asked to change the subject.

"Pizza, what do you want?" Logan asked.

"Anything as long as it doesn't have pineapple," Miles said.

Logan chuckled and nodded his head. He walked away leaving Miles to examine his injuries alone. Something was up with him and Kyle. They were getting into more trouble lately, he would have to go have a talk with Kendall later. Maybe he knew what was up.
