Sorry for the late update, guys! School just started, and I forgot all about my fanfics: whoops.
They spent the night with Mink. The house was over-run with fat mice, so Ember was well-fed when she woke up.
"Hey," said Ember, nudging East awake. "Time to go." East groaned.
"Wherewegoing?" he mumbled, the words falling out of his mouth.
"Ummm… I thought we could explore smooth-pelt place?" Without realizing it, Ember was adjusting to this new world with new words, her old habits falling from her like leaves in autumn.
"O-okay," he said, lifting himself up and stretching.
"Salutations." Now it was Ember's turn to groan. She turned to face Mink, beautiful as ever.
"Exploring the region? I'm in." Ember suspected that Mink was using big words just to confuse her. She was right.
"Let's get moving," she sighed. The three cats began to walk down a street, silent. Suddenly, as they walked into a dead-end alley, two cats blocked them.
They looked familiar. Was that... "Osprey?" Ember asked aloud.
"Surprised?" He sneered. As if on cue, Dive started bending herself in shapes that should have broken her joints.
Ember couldn't stop the shocked look from spreading on her face. Osprey gasped.
"Now, now, don't be rude," he said, and as soon as he said that, cats started coming in from all around, blocking every escape route.
A crimson she-cat snarled at them. Oh no, she thought. East sounded like he was about to cry.
Ember doubted he'd ever been in a really big fight before, so it was her job to weasel her way out of this. "On my mark," she whispered, "run."
"What's your mark?" he asked.
"You'll know when you see it." she told him, then swiped Osprey on the nose, leaped onto the she-cat, and used her movement to propel herself onto a large, shiny boulder, one of many that lined the alleyway.
"Get me if you can!" she yelled, then ran away via the trash cans. I suppose that's the signal, he thought as all the many cats ran after her. He then leisurely walked away with Mink.
Don't judge, I just slapped it together.
