Ember, East, and Mink rejoined by an old deli, then decided to find a place to stay the night.
"Wait!" cried East, smiling. "I know a guy."
Ember snorted. "Of course you do."
East was not put down, however. "His name is.. Ricko! The only problem is that he lives about a half mile away, and it's getting dark fast." Ember nodded. "We can do it."
They made their way through the streets, scampering at any unaccounted for noise.
"This is it," said East, stopping in front of a red brick building.
"I'll go in first," said Mink, and stepped forward. Suddenly, a huge, tan body came flying through the air and slammed into her.
East rushed toward Mink as she flew through the air and only stopped when she hit an adjacent building.
The creature bared its fangs, and Ember could tell that the only barrier between death and life was a thick metal collar fastened around the bobcat's neck and attached to a
chain trailing through the building, now held taught.
"Hello?" she ventured. The bobcat looked taken aback, then sat on his haunches.
"Sorry," he growled in a tone so accented, Ember almost couldn't understand him. Ember smiled. "What's your name?" she asked. The bobcat looked towards his feet.
"Qwerty," he muttered. Ember tried to look sorry for him. "Why did you attack us?"
Qwerty answered, "I thought you were my owner." Ember nodded, dignified. "May we sleep here tonight? I don't think Mink can walk," she said, gesturing towards the white cat.
Qwerty nodded. "It's the least I can do."
It has been over a year, literally, since I last updated. I've been busy with schoolwork, Maeglin's Journey, schoolwork, Scourge's Mate, schoolwork, other important stuff, schoolwork, schoolwork, and schoolwork. This is a brief summation of my current mental situation. Anyway, I'm sorry. Pero no realmente.
