They left the following day, tensions high. As they walked, East warned them of new dangers, as they were about to enter a big city.
He finished, and the cats were silent. The day turned darker and darker until East stopped. "There's an old mine I want to shelter in," he meowed.
It's close to the city so that we won't be losing time, and we'll have the rare pleasure of staying dry. "
"Why is our destination the big city?" queried Mink. East looked uncomfortable. "I'm… visiting my sister." Mink nodded.
Crossing several Thunderpaths and avoiding the same amount of smooth-pelt kits, the group finally made it to the mine.
Entering the mine, East noticed a stone with brilliant white light emanating from it. "Hmm…" said East.
Crouching, he crept forward and touched his nose to the rock. "Yoww!" he screeched. "What is it?!" cried Ember. East licked his nose. "It's cold."
Ember snickered, then asked, "Why do you do it then?" "Just… a rumour," he replied. Softly, he curled up and fell asleep with Mink.
"I wonder…" thought Ember, and touched her nose to the stone that shone with the light of the moon. Suddenly, visions came upon her, flickering as if dreams.
Scenes of war and death, sickness and decay. She saw a fire-pelted tom sitting upon a smooth-pelt fence, gazing into the forest; a great rock with five cats upon
it, under the light of the full moon; she saw a silver queen kitting on barren rocks, a medicine cat crouched beside her.
But in the background, ever-insistent were the words
Remember the fourth, so close to the end. She is the savior of all the Clans.
Gasping, Ember woke. She glanced around wildly, hoping that East and Mink hadn't woken up. They had not.
Still breathing hard, she sank to the ground and slept.
