As they bedded down in a few old tires, Ember excitedly confided to East.
"I know where my Clan would have gone- to Firestar! We've all heard of him; he founded us. And if they're not there, I can at least join ThunderClan."
East looked dolefully at her. "You'd really leave Mink and I?" he asked.
Ember smiled sadly in return. "I'm sorry, East. I'm a Clan cat. I can just live wandering. Without a purpose."
East nodded. "Visit my sister first. Then… we'll make the trip with you." he meowed. Ember stared surprisedly. Then her face split into a wide smile. "Thanks, East."
At the crack of dawn, they set off. "So," said Mink. "When will we get there?" Ember started. Mink had been so quiet; she had almost forgotten about her.
"Uhh… around high-sun," responded East.
Mink simply nodded. By the time the sun was a quarter of the way into the sky, East announced that they were entering BloodClan territory.
They traveled silently, until they were stopped by two cats. "Hey," said one, a burly ginger tom with black stripes. "Who're you?" East quavered but said "East."
The black she-cat snorted. "Yeah, let off, Goji. This is the son of Scourge himself." Goji scowled. "If he's so important, then he should have an escort."
"That's good thinking," she appraised him. "Go get the nearest cat." Goji ran off. "So," said the she-cat. She started walking.
"I'm Night. What are your… companions' names?" "This is Ember and Mink." East said quietly. Night nodded. "Good pickings downtown." Ember flushed.
Goji rushed up with a gray she-cat. Night sighed. "Storm was the best you could find?" she addressed Goji. "She was the nearest cat," he muttered.
Storm wove her way between Ember and East. "I would always be happy to escort the brother of Stillwater herself," she mewed sweetly.
"We're in the heart of the territory," mewed East warningly. "Still knows the land like the back of his paw," gushed Storm. "Shut up," snapped Night.
"We're almost there, mother." Goji meowed. Night nodded. "The alley is only a few blocks away." A silver tabby strode up to them, keeping pace.
"What' cha doin?" he asked. "We're escorting the famous East," cried Storm. Disbelievingly, the tom spoke. "I'll join ya. I'm Gravel."
"Hey," called Night, who had placed herself in the front of the group. "We're here." East nodded. "I'll take it from here," he mewed.
Waiting beside the alley, everyone watched, breathless, as East approached the BloodClan leader's den.
But before East entered, a sleek silver cat emerged. "Hello, brother."
