It was just another summer back home before finishing up her senior year of college. Something in the air that morning during her run told Louise Belcher to steer clear of the boardwalk at Wonder Wharf, but she did anyway. The sun was just beginning to wake up from it's slumber to fight against the cloudy skies that morning. As she jogged, she noticed someone followed close behind smiling at her rear view. "What a perv." She was used to it by now, but something was familiar about that smirk.

Louise had grown out of her bunny ears long ago. Her hair was up in a messy bun, her ear buds were blasting Rage Against the Machine's Bulls On Parade, she wore her adidas track pants, a cropped tank over her sports bra, and some trainers. She turned her head to see the other runner was almost caught up to her so she sped up a bit. This turned out to be an egregious error on her part. She suddenly got a cramp in her side causing her to cry out in pain and collapse.

"Are you okay?" Louise heard a man's voice ask. "I just need to get to that bench and sit for a minute." She said louder than she meant to due to the music still in her ear. "Let's get you up. Hold on to me." The man helped her, and she took the earbuds out of her ears. Louise sat there on the bench with her head back trying to slow her breathing. "Umm, here. I have an extra bottle of water in my bag. Sip slowly." She thanked him and began sipping on the much needed drink.

"You seem very familiar. You local?" the man asked. Louise nodded. "Born and bred. On summer break from college. My parents own the burger joint down the road. She heard the man say, "You've got to be fucking kidding me. You're Louise Belcher? No fucking way!" Louise finally got a good look at the man. "Bush?" she asked with an edge to her voice. "Well, well, well, you sure grew up into a surprise, huh? Little Louise Belcher. Damn. I think the last time I saw you, you were 12 and I had just left for college down in Florida." He was being...nice? Something was up.

"How's Cynthia? Still as charming as her baby boy?" Louise said with venom in her voice. 'Hmm, guess she's still hating on me.' he thinks to himself. "Uh, mom lives over on King's Head Island with her new husband." Louise laughs, "Of course she does. What? Your dad finally have enough of her crap and dump her?" Logan cleared his throat and looked away, "Actually, I thought maybe you had heard. My father died three years ago." Louise suddenly felt a pang of guilt in her stomach. "Oh, shit, Bush. I had no idea. Sorry for that." He was still looking away, so she stared at him.

She noticed that his jaw line had squared off, and his hair looked a bit darker; possibly because of how much shorter it was. He had much more muscle than his scrawny teenage years and a few tattoos peaking out from his tee-shirt. "Logan?" she finally said, breaking him out of his thoughts. "Hmm?" he still looked straight ahead, but she could see him relax a bit next to her. "If you don't mind me asking, how did it happen?" she fought the need to touch his arm. 'Get ahold of yourself, Louise!' she silently reprimanded herself. He cleared his throat and began to speak. "Well, I had just graduated from college. My dad had not been feeling well, but since he was so busy with being a doctor himself, he put off checking on himself, but mom finally had enough and made him take some time off to get well. I had announced to him and mom that I had gotten an offer to intern for an architectural firm in New York City during a family dinner when the phone rang. By the end of the call, my father had found out he was dying. Advanced stages of lung cancer with no hope for treatment. He had put it off so long that it had spread into his brain and everything. The day I was supposed to start my internship ship, I was at his bedside instead...grieving over his dead body."

She couldn't stop herself and put her hand on his back and started rubbing. "Shit. That's horrible. I'm, I'm so sorry." Louise could hear him sniffle. She really felt horrible. "Hey, why don't we go get some breakfast. The diner should be open now." she heard the words spilling out of her but couldn't believe it. "That would actually be great, Belcher. Thanks." He turned and smiled slightly causing her heart to beat a bit faster. 'Damn, he had a sexy smile. And the fact that he clearly had been crying is turning me the fuck on.' He stood first then extended his hand to help her up. She took it and felt electricity surging through her body down to her nether regions. He must have felt it to because as soon as she was up, he quickly turned and put his hand in his pocket.

At the diner, they got a booth in the back corner. Logan spoke up first. "So, your family? They all good?" Louise smiled into her cup of coffee. "Yeah. Tina lives over there actually." she pointed to the apartment building across the street from the diner. "Her and her boyfriend got the place after her first book was published. It's actually just hit #5 of the best seller list on Amazon. She's working on the second of the series now. Jimmy, her boyfriend, owns the dance studio over on Bleaker Ave." Logan sat there listening while finishing off his first cup. "And Gene is over in California working for a studio there as a film scorer. He calls twice a week to keep us updated. He actually took me as his date to the Oscars last year. It was really cool." He was impressed, she could tell.

"And your mom and dad? They're still good?" Louise smiled. "Yeah, dad's still running the joint for now. When I finish college, he's handing the reigns over to me. I have one more year at TCNJ and the joint is all mine." The waitress came over and took their order, refilling their coffees. "That's cool. I always liked your father. He treated me like a person, like a real person and not just some dumb kid. I mean he was way nicer than you." He laughed and she reached over and smacked him across the head. "See. You're still mean. here I am being nice to you, helping you after you fell, letting you buy me breakfast."

"Oh Hell no, Berry Bush! You can pay for your own shit." She made to get up and leave but he got up and blocked her. "Come on. I was kidding around. Damn, I really know how to get your panties in a bunch." She could feel herself blushing. "Don't you ever think you have any effect on my panties." Louise plopped back down in the booth. He looked at her with an impish grin. "I'm only staying for the free food so don't get any ideas." She tried to hide the smile that was on her face with no luck. "A smile. Now there we go.

Logan watched as Louise jogged away toward Bob's Burgers. He couldn't believe how amazing she looked all grown up. He chuckled to himself, 'Still a mouthy one though.' He jogged to his apartment on Ocean Avenue. He liked living on his own, but it got lonely so he adopted a cat from the shelter. He unlocked the door to his place and saw the orange tabby cat walking towards him. "Hey, you. How's my Honey doing? Come here." She jumped into his lap as he sat down in his recliner. He closed his eyes and saw Louise's smile. "Welp, Honey. I saw an old enemy today on my jog. Guess she ain't so bad actually. She was a total brat when she was younger. Caused me all kinds of trouble." He continued scratching behind the purring feline's ears until he finally got up to get his shower, smiling to himself thinking of burgers for lunch.

On the other side of town, Louise Belcher was just getting out of her shower. Thoughts of Logan plagued her mind. She hadn't really thought about him much over the years. Sure once in a while she would get curious and wonder if he'd ever done anything with his life or if he was a drug addict or an alcoholic, but that was it. Now she knew he was back in town. He was so damn sexy. She couldn't let him know that though. She knew she was attractive. She had gotten lucky in the gene pool. Her mind kept going back to Logan. He had grown taller, gained muscle, and was real easy on the eyes. He was still cocky and obnoxious though.

She heard a knock on her bedroom door and her father yelling, "Louise, time to prep for opening. I'm heading down. Don't be long." She rolled her eyes. No matter what, her dad always felt the need to tell her when it was time to get to work. "I'll be down in 5 minutes. Just getting dressed." she yelled back in annoyance. She threw on a pair of skinny jeans, her Converse, and her Bob's Burgers tank. "Mom, I'm heading down to the restaurant. See you in an hour." Linda loved when Louise was home from college. She took over her mom's prep duties, then Linda was able to sleep in a little later and have some alone time before opening. "Okay baby. I'm gonna run to Big Rudy's Coffee Co. I'll bring you your iced latte thing you like." Regular Size Rudy's father bought his coffee shop next door to Bob's right after him and Louise graduated high school. He had married a younger woman and gave Rudy twin sisters Kaya and Jill. "Awesome. Tell the girls I said hello and tell Rudy to answer my text."

Bob's was busier than usual now that the Benny's and Shooby's were swarming the Jersey Shore in droves. "Okay, so that's two burgers of the day, a bacon cheeseburger, mushroom burger, one order of onion rings, a cheese fry, and two orders of tots." Louise was getting lots of tips now that she was the only kid left working at the restaurant, plus changing her attitude helped a ton as well. "Excuse me miss. Can I get another soda?" she heard a little kid ask. "Sure thing cutie pie." She turned to get the empty cup to fill and saw Logan walk in the door. Her heart leapt into her throat. She thought to herself, "What the hell does he want?" She pretended not to notice him as he filled the little boys cup. She heard him clear his throat, so she turned and handed him a menu. "Be right with you." she said with fake sweetness.

She brought the boy his drink then checked on her other tables before returning to face him. "About time." he said smiling up at her from the menu. "What do you want, Bush? And make it snappy." Suddenly her mom came out from the kitchen. "Is that Logan Bush? I haven't seen you in years mister. What have you been up to?" "Louise, order up." Her dad rang out so she took the burgers and sides to the table of guys in the corner booth. She tried hearing Logan's response to her mother's questions but only heard bits and pieces. "Dad died", "Firm on King's Head", and "Ocean Avenue with my Honey" were all she heard. That last bit making her feel nauseated. "Thanks babe." one of the guys said as she handed him his food, so she smiled while inwardly gagging.

She walked over to the other table to give them their check and thank them for coming. "Everything was delicious. We'll definitely be back." the mom of the little boy announced. Louise walked back over to where Logan was sitting. "Did my mom take your order or not?" she said it with such an edge to a voice she surprised even herself. "Um, yeah." He looked at her with a confused look on his face. He'd thought they were getting along and here she was looking like he had the plague. "Hey, hot girl! Can we get a refill?" Louise looked over and saw Mr. Skeezball and his friend looking at her. She went over and grabbed their glasses. "Sure thing. Be right back." She heard one of them whisper, "Look at that ass. Damn. The things I could do with her," while the other guys egged him on. When she walked behind the counter to fill their glasses, she noticed Logan was red faced.

She walked back over to give the guys their drinks and their check. "If you need anything else, let me know." The guts were looking her up and down then Mr. Skeezball says, "You could give my boy Shane here your number." Louise looked at the guy, Shane, and he smiled. "Um, I'm flattered but I can't. Thanks." He speaks up, "Why not? You got a boyfriend? Girlfriend?" Suddenly, Logan walks up to where she is standing. "Hey babe. You almost done here? I'm getting lonely over there by myself." Louise felt her heart beating out of her chest. "You mind fellas? It's our anniversary. Special day planned." And then he kissed her forehead as she began blushing. "Uh, uh, yeah. Hey sorry man." The group of guys sucked down their drinks and paid their bill before rushing out.

"What the fuck was that?" She said as she punched him in the shoulder. "Ow, hey! I was saving you from those Benny's. I thought you'd be a little more appreciative." Louise rolled her eyes then went over to bus tables to the now empty restaurant. "Great! No tip from the assholes because you chased them off. Thank you so much for saving me from a big tip. My hero." she sarcastically announced. "You get tips that way often?" When she looked at him with fire in her eyes, he knew he had overstepped. He put his hands up in surrender, "Sorry, sorry. I didn't mean it like that. I meant by guys thinking they can impress you by being openly vulgar toward you and expect to have a chance with you." Louise blushed then looked back down at the table she was cleaning. "Let me help." She heard him as he grabbed the dish bin from the table and started grabbing the cups and plates. She felt a smile tugging at her lips. He was being sweet.

Suddenly she remembered overhearing his conversation with her mom. He said he had an apartment with his honey. "So I thought I heard you talking with my mom. You tell her anything interesting?" Logan smiled over at her from the other table. "I don't know. Why? What do you want to know?" he asked. "Louise, order up." She heard her dad shout. Logan brought the dish bin behind the counter and sat down. "Hey, Logan! Long time, no see." Bob said as he realized who it was. "Hey, Bob. Yep, I live over on Ocean Avenue." Louise noticed there was two plates. "Take your break, Louise. Mom says she'll watch the front. Finally died down anyways." her dad winked at her. "What the Hell?" she thought to herself.

She sat down next to Logan and started to eat. "Ocean Avenue? Guess you're not doing too shabby, huh Bush?" She could see him smirk as he ate a fry. "I do okay. I'm an architect over on King's Head Island for my step-dad's firm. And before you say anything, I worked for him in his New York office first. He actually met my mother when she stopped by to meet me for lunch one day. He just happened to be opening an office on KHI a few months ago, so I asked to be transferred to be closer to my old hometown. I missed...things." Louise couldn't stop herself from asking, "I heard you say you live with someone? Who's the lucky gal?" He chuckled. "Oh, my honey? Yeah, she's real sweet. Loves to jump in my lap as soon as I get home." Louise made a gagging sound. "Gross. Spare me the details." She became quiet as she finished her food.

Logan knew she was annoyed. That what he was hoping for. Now he knew she was interested in him. If she wasn't, she would care about his "honey." She got up and grabbed their dishes and went to the back while he watched. "Louise, I will get those dishes. You get back out there with Logan." her mother said. "Mother, no. Why the hell would I do that?" Her mother sighed, "Um, I think it's pretty obvious he wants to be better acquainted with you Miss Missy." Louise scoffed, "He has a honey, mother. Didn't you hear him?" Her mother started laughing. "What's so funny, Lin?" Bob asked as he came back from his 3 o'clock poop. "Oh, Louise. His honey is his cat, Honey. Didn't he tell you?" Louise was seething. She opened the door to the front area and saw him sitting there waiting for her.

Louise walked over and stood with her hands on hips. "What?" he asked. "Your honey is a damn cat?" He started to laugh so she stormed off and out the front door. She started walking off towards Wonder Wharf hearing him yelling her name. "Come on Louise! Stop! Louise!" He finally caught up to her just before she crossed Ocean Avenue. "Hey! I am way too full to run after you anymore so please stop." She turned to face her tormentor. "Look Belcher. When I saw those scumbags hitting on you and talking about you so disrespectfully, I wanted to beat the living shit out of them. That's when I knew that this thing I've been feeling ever since this morning couldn't be ignored. I didn't think you'd see me in any way other than some punk that used to terrorize you until I tested the waters by talking about my cat as if she was a person. Stupid, I know but." His speech was cut off by her pulling him down by his shirt to meet her lips.

His mind was screaming, "HOLY SHIT! SHE'S KISSING ME!" before he felt his body move closer, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her back fervently. They released themselves from each other's arms. "So, you live close or," Logan looked at her in shock. "You, you want to go to my place?" he stammered. Louise laughed, "Not what you think pal. Just don't want to go back to my place because of my overbearing parents." Logan chuckled softly, "Uh, yeah. Yeah, I get it. Um, sure. We're not far at all." He didn't know if he should take her hand or not so he put his hands in his pockets instead. They got to his apartment building and entered. "I'm on the top floor. We'll take the elevator." he said nervousness apparent in his voice. He unlocked his door and Louise saw an orange blur run out to meet them. "This is Honey. Honey, this is my friend Louise." Louise reached over to stroke the cat as Honey purred softly, "Aren't you just the sweetest thing ever." Louise said earning a mewl from the feline. "She likes you. She never likes anyone." Logan said. "Well, she knows a good person when she sees one." she quipped back. "I was talking to the cat." he said with a laugh earning a slap on the arm.

They sat on the sofa with Honey curled up in between them. "You, um, dating anyone?" Logan asked nonchalantly. "No. You?" Louise asked. "Nope. Actually have not dated in over four years. Been focused on work. Besides, nobody ever seemed worth it to me. We'll, until now." He looked over at her. She arched her eyebrows, "Oh. You meet someone?" He plopped his head back on the sofa and smiled then slowly turned his head. "You could say that I was reacquainted with someone. Louise. Come for dinner tomorrow night? I'd love to cook for you." She gave him a look of shock causing him to laugh. "Don't act so surprised. Yes, I cook, and I think I am pretty good at it actually. Let me prove it to you." Louise got up and sat in his lap causing his heart to race. She combed her fingers through his hair inciting a moan from his lips. She leaned close almost touching her lips to his and whispered, "I'll have to check my schedule." Then with a smirk, she jumped off his lap and headed back to her spot on the sofa next to the cat.

"Louise Belcher, you tease!" he groaned. He put his head back again. She reached over and gently pulled on his tee-shirt, making him lean closer. Honey took the hint and jumped down off the couch. "Louise." he said her name almost whining. She leaned her forehead against his and said, "I gotta get back. Call me later." He crashed his lips into hers causing her to straddle him, tugging at the back of his head. "You're not leaving yet." he said quickly before sucking her bottom lip and continuing the assault on her mouth. She couldn't get over how fast this was moving. "Moving too fast." she muttered in between kisses. Logan stopped. "I'm sorry. Oh man. I don't know what came over me. I jumped into your lap. Sorry, Bush. I just...I don't know. It's weird." Logan found her hand and joined his own hand with hers. "This thing. What I am feeling? It just feels right." Louise nodded her head and Logan smiled that sexy smile that made her body crazy. "Don't do that." she said. "What?" he said he began to trail kisses from her earlobe down to her décolletage causing her breath to hitch in her throat. "Okay, we've really got to stop or I am going to make you take me right here on this sofa." She got off of his lap and blushed at the bulge in his shorts. He groaned then asked for her to give him a moment before he could walk her to the door.

"So, dinner? You never gave me an answer." He said as he hugged her tightly. "Sure. Why not. Give me your phone nerd." He unlocked it, and Louise noticed the wallpaper was a shot of the New York City skyline. "Wow, did you take this?" She flipped the phone towards him. "Oh, yeah. That was the view from my office when I worked at the firm there. It was really cool actually. Sometimes I miss it." He shrugged and watched as she entered her number into his phone. "Just text me, so I will have yours. My phone was charging at the restaurant. I'll see you." She grabbed his shirt and pulled him into a kiss. "Mmm, yes, I will definitely be seeing you."
