Three years after they marry, Louise and Logan Bush decide to expand. No, not the restaurant. They'd already done that. "Logan, it's time." Louise said in her calmest voice. Her husband got up and gathered their bag for the hospital then texted his sister-in-law.
"Okay, we're really fucking doing this huh?" Logan got her in the truck then locked up the house. "I'll call Zeke and let him know that he'll be running things for the next few days. He's already prepared. Thank Christ we have him." On the way Louise sent out a group text to the family.
They pulled up to Memorial Hospital and got up to the maternity ward. As they were walking into their birthing suite, Logan's phone dinged. "Jesus! They're all here already." Louise chuckled and got comfortable. Well, as comfortable as she could get.
Two hours into her labor, she was finally ready to push. "Come here! I wanna throat punch you so fucking bad!" Logan took her hand as Louise cursed him out then squeezed the life out of said hand.
"Shit! I think you broke my hand babe!" Louise told him "Good! You did this to me!" which caused the nurses and even her doctor to giggle.
"Okay, Mrs. Bush, this next contraction is where we need a big push from you." Her doctor told her to which she nodded.
Two minutes later, she was pushing. "Oh Christ! Of course our kids got your big ass head, Bush!" She yelled as the head crowned. She screamed as the baby's head came through. The doctor started clearing its airway. Another big push later and the baby was out.
"It's a girl!" The doctor announced. Logan kissed his wife's sweaty forehead. Louise smiled as she eased back. "Okay, Nurse Betty here will clean your daughter off. Ready for the next one?" Logan looked at Louise nod tiredly.
"Let's do this!" She proclaimed. Three and a half minutes later, baby #2 arrived.
"And here's your son!"
"I love you, Ears." Logan whispered quietly to his sleeping wife. She was so worn out from the birth of their twins. The family was still waiting in the Family Waiting Room. "Guess we should tell them you guys are here, huh?" He said to his sleeping babies. Babies. Damn.
When they had tried and tried to get pregnant on their own, it was hard. Two IVF treatments later though, they learned they finally had a viable pregnancy and it was twins. They never thought the day would come but here they were. Logan asked a nurse to send the two grandmothers in first, but to let them know Louise was asleep.
Linda and Cynthia came tiptoeing in a few minutes later. They ooh'd and ahh'd over the babies. Linda kissed the top of her own sleeping daughter's head. She couldn't believe her baby was a mommy. It was crazy. Tina and Jimmy had one son, Joaquin, and Gene had a daughter, Sophie, with his wife and writing partner, Courtney.
"Did you finally figure out the names or are we still calling the Baby Girl and Baby Boy?" Cynthia asked. Just then Louise stirred.
"We have names." Linda and Cynthia both congratulated Louise now that she was awake. Logan sat next to her and kissed the top of her head.
"How you feeling babe? Need pain meds?" Louise nodded then kissed him. He left to get the nurse, returning a moment later with Nurse Betty in tow. She gave her some ibuprofen for the pain then left again. "Ready?" Louise nodded. He picked up their son and handed him to his mother. "This is Thomas Robert Bush." His mom's eyes got misty.
"Oh, Logan, your father would have loved that." He hugged her slightly and accepted her cheek kiss.
"And this," he handed their daughter to his mother-in-law, "is Alana Sage." Linda smelled her.
"Oh she even smells new! Hi, Alana. I'm your gammy! The baby opened her eyes and blinked at her grandmother. "She has your eyes Louise. And look at all of this dark hair! She's your mini me. Oh, I sure hope she has your attitude Miss Missy."
Logan groaned, "Why would you wish that bad juju on me?" Louise playfully smacked him.
"Shit your face, Bush. I am a delight! Now let me see my babies." Logan's mom brought Thomas over. "Hi, Tommy. I'm your mama." He looked like Logan. "Looking all handsome like your daddy here." Logan sat on the edge of the bed as Linda handed Alana back to him. "And here's my sweet Alana Sage." She kissed the top of her daughter's head. "Your Aunt Jessica has been so excited to see you. Her boys are Jack Jack and Bodie. Bodie is only two months older than you guys. Jack Jack is almost four. He can protect you."
Linda and Cynthia stepped out so the grandpa's could have a turn. Bob burst into tears when he heard his grandson's name. Big Jack announced Alana was a princess and would need to be locked up in a tower to keep the boys away. Bob congratulated his daughter and son-in-law. He couldn't believe that his little Louise and Logan had made a family.
It was surreal to think that 17 years ago almost to the day, his 9 year old met and became enemies with a 15 year old and that 13 years later they would meet again and fall in love. Gene had predicted it, although he says d they both be in their thirties. But hate grew to friendship which turned into love. Now here they were, a family.
Later, after everyone had gone home and it was just the four of them, Logan snuggled into the hospital bed next to Louise. "Love you." She kissed him. "Glad we got one of each the first try. Never doing this again." They chuckled then looked at their sleeping children.
"I cannot believe that this is my life. Thank you." Logan kissed her deeply and caused her to moan in appreciation. "I love you so much." They went home the following day and settled the babies in their nursery. While the babies napped, they snuck away to their own bed to do the same.
"I would never have thought this would be how my life turned out. You and me, married with two kids. The restaurant doing great even in the off season. You becoming partner at the firm. We live in this gorgeous beach house. It's a dream I never knew I wanted, but I'm so glad I've got." Louise announced as her husband drifted off to sleep. "And I love you too, Bush." She kissed his jaw then snuggled up, falling asleep with smiles on their faces.
