AN : Just realized I literally created my first account on this site, just to write this fanfic. Also, I got some positive reviews. I guess that's all the motivation I need to post another chapter. Here it is!

I do not own Re:Zero. It is written, and I guess owned, by Nagatsuki Tappei.

"Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort."

Naoko was astounded.

Just now, she and Kenichi were walking across the road, when her eyes started feeling heavy, and without warning, black shadows seemed to engulf them. It instantly reminded her of the CCTV footage she had watched countless times to find a clue of her son's missing condition. Quite obviously, the next thing she thought was that she and Kenichi were being kidnapped, just like Subaru.

However, on opening her eyes, she was stupefied. In front of her, lay a burning city, unlike any other. That quickly dissuaded her fears of being kidnapped.

The town was enclosed by circular walls. The outer rim was the most elevated, the elevation dropping the closer you got to the center. Dense rows of stone buildings lined the tiers of the city, and large canals ran through the town. If Naoko didn't know any better, she might have thought that she was in Venice, but she had seen pictures of that city, and it was nothing quite like this.

In such a situation, Naoko spoke up the first thing that came to her mind.

"What the hell?!"

Kenichi was in a similar situation of shock. He was confused beyond all measure, and to pinch himself hard to believe what he was seeing. He saw people with animal appendices, scales, feathers and more, running for their lives.

He asked Naoko, not even bothering to comment on her language, "Dear, where are we?"

"I don't know…" Naoko said, dumbfoundedly

He didn't know what happened to him and Naoko while crossing the road, but seeing a building collapse due to the fire, he realized that they were in danger.

"Naoko, let's talk later, we need to get to a safe place first!"

Kenichi quickly took Naoko's hand without waiting for her reply, and asked the nearest person for the details on what was happening. The person, a rather lean and tall man said -

"Pristella is being attacked by the witch cult! Get to the refugee shelter, now!" after rushing off to the aforementioned place.

Kenichi only became more confused. He had never heard of a city, a district, or even a country by the name of Pristella! He didn't even know who the 'witch cult' was, whom they were apparently being attacked by? He was about to follow the man to ask more questions, but Naoko quickly interrupted by saying, "What is happening, Kenichi?"

"I don't know Naoko, however we need to stay calm. First we get to safety, then we ask questions. Hold tight onto my hand, okay?" Kenichi calmly said.

Naoko had a lot more queries, but she quickly let it go, in favor of following her husband's instructions. They quickly followed where most of the people were going, and very soon ended up at the so - called shelter. They quickly entered it, however, neither them nor surrounding adults seemed to have any idea about what to do once they were inside the refuge shelter.

"Do you know what is happening?" Naoko quickly broke the silence by asking an adjacent woman about the predicament the whole city was currently facing.

The stranger replied by saying, "Somewhat, the witch cult is attacking and they made a city-wide broadcast about their demands! I don't know what we are going to do!"

"Stay calm people, they won't be able to hurt us in these shelters." A guard, with medieval looking armor, answered the woman.

"How? That flimsy metal door can't protect us when the cult can destroy whole buildings!" Some person shouted.

The atmosphere of the shelter kept growing in dread by festering in the stranger's words. However, that was broken by Kenichi, who bluntly asked, "What is the witch cult?"

People looked at him in disbelief. One rhetorically asked, "What? You don't know who they are? Have you been living under a rock?"

A man in his mid-30s by the look of his face, said, "They must be outsiders, by the look of their clothes."

"Well you could be less rude but yes, we are outsiders, we come from Tokyo in Japan. Do you know where that is?" Naoko asked, hoping that finally they would get some answers.

"No, never heard of that place." The same man replied.

"Answering your question though, the witch cult are the ones who worship the Witch of Envy. They are the worst of the worst. You would do well to remember that." Kenichi had to suppress an involuntary shudder at the hatred in his words, even if he got more questions from them.

Naoko took out her cellphone, and tried to see if she received a signal or not. To her dismay, there was no connection. The woman from earlier saw the phone, and said, "Is that a metia? It could be helpful to contact someone if it is like that conversation mirror I once saw with a merchant."

"I don't know what a metia is, but this is called a cellphone. It isn't receiving any signal though. Are there no towers around?"

"Towers? Don't metias work by using magic?" The woman replied, confused.

Kenichi said in astonishment, "Magic? What are you talking - "

Suddenly, it all clicked into place. His worst suspicions grew into reality. The people with animal body parts, the medieval architecture, the so called Witch of Envy and magic.

They were in a whole different world, weren't they?

AN : So, finished. IDK if i rushed this a little bit, so I guess I am sorry in advance for that. Read some of the reviews, the main problem that people felt was that the chapters were a bit short. I understand this, and so think of making the chapters around 2000 - 3000 words. However, this will take more time, like 2-3 days. Still, should be better in quality.
