Fourteen-year-old Becky was certainly not sulking or acting like an impetuous, mulish child. Her actions were completely deliberated, expected, and even understandable. Ever since her house has been struck with the "Tobey McCallister infestation", her life was becoming more complicated than the third book in the Princess Triana series. And her secret life will undoubtedly suffer as well.

Tobey should be in jail! So what if it wasn't against the law to use all the hot water in the morning? It was perfidious, criminal behavior if Becky ever saw one!

Bob was patting her on the back, consoling her.

"Thanks, Bob," Becky murmured, then fell backward on her bed, sighing dramatically.

Tobey was only a guest here, meant to stay for only a week, while his mother Claire got over the depressive episodes which would appear around the time something bad happened to Tobey's father. Becky had asked what, the eerie silence had been enough of an answer. Needless to say, she did not try again.

As bad as she felt for Tobey, she did not fancy being interrogated, every four seconds, or being told that her intellect could not possibly compete with Tobey's.

Becky got it, really. Einstein was a mere baby compared to Tobey. So what? At least Einstein presumably had manners.

But she was not hiding in her room! It was a...tactical retreat! Yes! A most courageous, innovative tactical retreat.

Bob went out of the room, craving bananas. She was seemingly alone...

"Yoo-hoo, Becky? Running away like a scared rabbit, are we?" Tobey cackled softly while knocking on her door three times.

"Don't be silly, Tobey! I just want some privacy. You know being undisturbed, away from aggravating disturbances."

"I, I know what privacy means!" Tobey sputtered, a bit indignant.

"You could have fooled me," Becky said, rolling her eyes.

"Oh, I think not, my dear. The only one trying to fool anyone here is you, Wordgirl!" the boy genius accused.

"Tobey! This is completely senseless! How would you like it if I followed you around everywhere and accused you to be a superhero?" Becky groaned.

"Well admittedly I would take it as an insult," Tobey muttered, "Imagine me, Tobey McCalisster the third, evil boy genius, getting accused of being a dandelion-headed superhero, like Wordboy or something."

Becky grinned, "Actually, Wordboy doesn't sound too bad."

"Truly?" Tobey asked amused, only for Becky to turn around and realize he had somehow got inside her room. She remembered specifically that she had locked the door.

"How did you?" Becky began to ask.

"Ah, this? This is practically nothing! The old hairpin trick," he replied smugly, showing Becky her black hairpin which she had been trying to find for three hours.

She quickly snatched it from his hands.

"Alright, Tobey listen up. You are not allowed in my room, you may not try to find anything incriminatory here-"

Tobey smiled.

"-Not that there is anything of such nature, to begin with! You will respect my sanctuary or I will, I will enter your room as well!"

"Why please do, Wordgirl. I would be enchanted if you were to grace me with your wonderful presence. Particularly at night when we could have dinner, and eat ice cream together!"

"Tobey..." Becky said disenchanted, only for Tobey to take a seat on her bed and take one of her hands in his.

"Hmm, I'm going to tell you a secret, Becky," he whispered.

"What sort of secret?" Becky raised an eyebrow, inquisitive.

"I've always admired your intelligence," Tobey looked intensely at her.

Becky gaped, her cheeks starting to color red.

"And your kindness..."

Becky's eyes began to widen.

"Your beautiful athletic body, with marron glossy locks, and radiant ruby lips. You beautiful temptress..."

"I, no I'm not, I..." Becky stammered.

"Shhhh!" Tobey said while rubbing circles on her hand, calming her down.

"I was only teasing, Becky. You, of course, can't help being beautiful. Just as I can't help being in love," then quickly kissed one of her hands.

Becky was drawn to him, his voice was hypnotizing, his words made her heart skip a beat.

He let go of her hand and was about to go out the very door he got in using sneaky means when he turned around, shot her a triumphant smirk, and said "Oh and by the way, Becky, you should be more careful about tidying up your room. Despite the mountain of clothes trying to hide it, I can see clearly your superhero costume."

With those chilling words, he departed, leaving Becky to stare at her costume wondering, 'Why didn't I hide it properly?'

The response was obvious. Her oblivious parents would not have thought twice if she had shown them the superhero uniform and said it was for Haloween, that was why she still kept it in her room. And T.J would never think her cool enough to be Wordgirl, even if she took him for a flight around the house.

She had been too careless and now, that Tobey was here and knew her secret, who knows what would happen?

Something told her that he would not accept the Haloween excuse.
