Chapter 2: Dimensional Slayer

The Doom Slayer flipped to the next page of the newest issue of Kadingir Hunter, reading the comic book. He kicked his feet up onto the desk before him, pushing the monitors backwards, out of reach. He flipped to the next page of the comic book and read it, approaching closer and closer to the end. He skipped to the end and found that it ended on a 'to be continued…'. The Slayer set down the comic and grabbed his keyboard and mouse, tired of reading. He turned on the monitors, sending him to his cobalt colored desktop. The three monitors before him momentarily turned black before a pop-up appeared, reading 'DTD programming completed'. The Doom Slayer excitedly stood up from his gaming chair and rushed through the left side of the lounge of the Fortress of Doom, grabbing his Super Shotgun. He pulled down the barrel, loading two shells into the weapon before flipping it up, returning the break action weapon to its normal position.

The Slayer entered the teleporter room of his Fortress, rushing towards the rising podium holding a device similar to a watch with a screen at the base. The Slayer stopped before the podium, eagerly grabbing the device and placing it on his right wrist, the metal fusing itself to his armor.

"My consciousness should be rerouted to your Praetor Suit's systems momentarily." Samuel Hayden told the Slayer. "I will create the dimensional rifts for you, unless you wish to create them yourself with those sausages that you call fingers."

The Doom Slayer calmly cocked his head to the side, agreeing with the digitally reborn human. He unsheathed the Doomblade mounted underneath his left arm, inspecting it for dull edges. Finding that it was in good repair, he resheathed it and turned over his double-barrel shotgun, gazing at the Meat Hook mounted underneath the barrels of the weapon. The clamps opened, ready to fire, causing the Doom Slayer to return the shotgun to its normal position.

"The Slip-pack Mark 3 is in perfect condition. Energy shields and Active Camouflage are at maximum. The Dimensional Transportation Device is operational, but the power source is behaving very… sporadically. The 9000 being used to open the rifts was an interesting idea, I'll give you that, but it's a weapon, not a teleporter." Samuel Hayden told the Slayer, who opened a small slipgate over his left arm, causing the BFG 9000 to fall from the portal, only to be caught by the Slayer.

He set down the Super Shotgun and shifted the big gun to his right hand, grabbing a cable on the Dimensional Transportation Device and attaching it to the 9000. He grabbed a sticky note from behind the broadcast monitor to the front side of his left, slapping it on the weapon in his hands.

"You still have time to disgrace me. First, you destroyed my work, now, you mock me because you used a weapon as a man cannon." Samuel Hayden grumbled, reading the note, which read, 'It's a weapon, AND a teleporter'. "But before we leave, I must warn you, do not get me stuck in an alternate dimension because of your arrogance."

The Doom Slayer frowned underneath his helmet, Doctor Hayden could tell. The Slayer grabbed his Super Shotgun with his left hand and began to charge up the BFG with his right, the sticky note attached falling off. The Slayer let go of the trigger, firing a cobalt blob of energy, tinted by the lime-green color of the BFG's projectiles. The energy blast stopped at the edge of the ramp surrounding the small, circular area in the middle of the control room, opening a dimensional rift and causing a sound that could only be described as the universe screaming in agony. The Doom Slayer stepped towards the portal, growing faster as he inched closer and closer. He finally stepped through the rift and found himself in the lobby of a building. No, a complex.

A crowd of people was gathered in the lobby of the room, moving to the side as a team of eight soldiers searched the crowd, looking for someone. One of the soldiers broke away from the squad and towards a group of women, beginning to harass them. The Doom Slayer observed his surroundings, finding the UAC logo on the wall opposite of him.

"Sorry ma'am, but I'm gonna have to stripsearch… you…" Portmann said, trailing off as he looked to the far side of the room, seeing the Doom Slayer.

The group of women turned around, seeing the Slayer as well. One of them gasped, and the squad of soldiers' attention was drawn to the Slayer, who shrugged and held his Super Shotgun over his shoulder. The soldiers aimed their weapons at the Slayer, the crowd of scientists dispersing, some screaming, others remaining silent.

"I meant to take us to Urdak! It must have malfunctioned!" Samuel Hayden told the Slayer.

"Who the hell are you?" Sarge shouted, his gun aimed at the Slayer's head.

The Slayer raised his BFG, charging it up to open a rift back. The BFG surged with lime-cobalt energy, but the energy grew bright, blinding even.

"Open fire!" Sarge yelled, causing the squad to fire blindly as the energy in the BFG turned white.

The Slayer had let go of the trigger at the appropriate time, but the BFG was still collecting energy. Energy rays erupted from the core of the gun, seeking out power sources and draining them of energy. Bullets ricocheted off of the Argent Barrier surrounding the Slayer and off of the metal platings on the BFG. The BFG's energy surge stopped, the 9000 powering down and the lights inside darkening. The gunfire from the squad stopped as they all reloaded, beginning to approach the Doom Slayer. Suddenly, the BFG activated once more, energy surging from it quickly and growing brighter every moment before the Slayer was blinded as he felt himself collapse.

The Slayer's vision returned, causing him to see what was around him. He was being sent through alternate dimensions faster than his vision could he keep up. It was faster than 1000 fps, the Slayer's upgraded vision, probably faster than two thousand. The Slayer knew that he couldn't die, but that moment was the only moment that he wished that he could. Then, things slowed down and realization struck the Slayer.

It stopped.

The Slayer surveyed his surroundings, finding himself in the dark vacuum of space. A large spacecraft flew towards him, colliding with him and sending him spiralling through the vacuum, towards a large ring. Flames surrounded him as he entered the ring's gravitational pull, turning him into a living meteor.
