Ch3 TS
"We should just have scheduled an appointment during the week, All Might," she yawned at him and huffed at her tiredness. Waking up early was certainly not her strong point and would probably never be. Her scheduled certainly showed her preferences. On the odd occasion she was up early it was either the hero commission calling her for some kind if mission or another hero needing her help urgently.
Urgently was the keyword. There was no way she would ever be willingly awake before 9AM.
"Possibly, but I have been a little occupied by planning Midoriya-shounen's rough dietary plan and my other hero duties," the number on hero in his slimmed down form answered somewhat sheepishly, shrugging.
"Well, no matter. I tried contacting you, but your office is really awfully busy. Certainly, shows that you're the number one hero of the country." She shuffled her feet and tried to righten her civilian attire. She almost lived in her hero uniform but this time she wanted to make a clear division between her hero persona and her civilian identity. It would do no good being associated so early on with All Might's real identity and Midoriya himself when one of the country's biggest secrets was on the line.
"Well, let's discuss what we're here for. Midoriya-kun will arrive in an hour. If what he seems like probably even earlier." Conceding to his point, they set down to business.
"So, Spots, how and how long have you known about my injury?"
"Probably directly after your first public appearance after that injury happened. My quirk does not need a direct line of vision but it's certainly a lot weaker when I see things either over video or as picture. Knowing that you as of right now are also All Might? Probably that one big earthquake near Tokyo two years ago. I was called to the scene to evaluate all the structures and relay it to the rescue heroes. I saw you as All Might first and then as your current form when you stepped in as a secretary.
"What's inevitable is the fact that no one has the exact same weaknesses. It's unique to every individual and makes it very easy for me to distinguish between people. That's why I have a rather high capture rate when it comes to fleeing criminals. Even when they take on a disguise, I'm able to know it's them. When I saw you in both appearances it just clicked. Given, I didn't really believe it at first. Maybe my eyes were just overworked, or I was just tired that day, but I continued to see you at disaster scenes and had to accept that information.
"The way I hinted at you? I can see the strength of your weakness growing each time I see you after a long rescue session. I'm guessing that you're limited to your buff form by time? Or strength usage, I don't know. Right now, you're relatively okay. It's still twinkling at me but it's not too bad. The day after you rescued Midoriya-kun? It was almost stabbing me in the eye."
The older man was silent for a while after he heard her explanation. He seemed conflicted what to tell Spots after her explanation, but she gave him time. It couldn't be easy that
such a big secret was being privy to someone.
"You got most the limitation right. I am only able to hold my All Might form for three hours as of right now. It's been decreasing over time," he admitted, resigned to the fact that his secret was out. "The injury was a result of a brutal fight against one of Japan's biggest villains, but it's been kept under wraps for public safety. I didn't really know how to respond to your hints but it's certainly good to have this conversation now."
"Yeah, I get what you mean. I was pretty nervous whenever I saw your injury flaring up. I mean I kinda still am but at least we can both talk about it now." She paused for a moment. "You're lucky that Ragdoll from the Wild Wild Pussy Cats is so discreet. Her quirk is far more elaborate than mine since it's a mental one. She probably figured out as much as I did."
"...Right, we have people like that in the industry. I guess I'm also lucky that she's based in another region of Japan."
"Yeah, it's just your luck, that I'm somehow often demanded enough that your usual spots are also included in my normal call ups. Earthquakes and other large scale disasters are usually the reason I see you for more than 5 minutes. My quirk just works so well for rescue."
She couldn't really blame it on anything other than dumb luck that she was the one actually finding out his secret. Finding weaknesses wasn't the most common quirk, which meant there weren't many heroes who couldn't figure things out as directly as she had done. Observant people in the general public had already noticed his decreased public appearance but his strong takedowns in his actual appearance dissuaded many people of the notion that the Symbol of Peace might not be up to his top game anymore.
"Possible," he shrugged as an answer. "Thank you for telling me, Spots."
She nodded.
"Ah, since I kinda got to know about your secret you can stop calling me Spots. I'm in my civs anyway. Name's Yukimura Sayaka. Or just Sai on some days." It felt far more awkward telling someone her civilian name than she would like to admit. She hadn't had to introduce her civilian persona in ages. Hell, she was referring to herself as Spots in her head already.
"Ah, nice to meet you Yukimura-kun. My name is Yagi Toshinori." He gave her a formal bow, prompting her to bow back. "You should probably also call me by my civilian name. Better not let any more people in on my secrets."
He chuckled at the thought.
"Eh, what about your pronouns when you are called Sai...?" the man asked hesitantly, trailing off with an air of awkwardness, but nonetheless she brightened up at his question.
"Thanks for asking, Yagi-san! Sorry, I forgot cause I'm tired. I use they/them when I go by Sai and she/her with Sayaka," she answered enthusiastically, loving the fact that the number one hero had actually asked instead of just accepting what she had said.
"You're welcome, my pronouns are he/him." He chuckled at her obvious enthusiasm.
"Let's exchange contact details. We can add Midoriya-kun to a group chat after he gave us his number. Let's go down to greet him. I don't know if he can find the place directly on his own."
They trotted down the stairs situated directed to the street.
"Good idea, Yukimura-kun. Ah, speak of the devil, there he is!" He raised an arm to wave to the green haired teenager walking into the vague direction of Yagi's building. "We're here, Midoriya-shounen!"
Surprised by the sudden address Midoriya, startled visibly in the distance. And then he started jogging at a brisk pace towards us, hands moving in a panicked manner.
Ah, to be a socially awkward teenager again. She sure as hell didn't miss that phase.
"All Might! Spots! I'm so sorry for being late! I thought I had the right time down; I even wrote it down in my calendar and my journal, but I apparently misunderstood you. I'm-"
"Haha, chill a little Midoriya-kun. We both agreed to meet a little earlier to talk about the details of this arrangement. Even if you were late, it's Saturday. He's-" she jutted a thumb in the older man's direction. "-on a time limit anyway and I took the day off. My work hours are so much later anyway."
"Oh, all right. Thank you for clarifying, Spots." He seemed a lot calmer now that he wasn't going on the assumption that he had been late.
"Anyway, I can't really have you call me by my hero's name in my civs even if I'm not often going around off-duty. I'll Yukimura Sayaka. If you feel conformable you can call me Sayaka or Sai. My pronouns are she/her with Sayaka and they/them with Sai. Hope you have no problem with that."
For some reason Midoriya started to stare at her all starry-eyed.
"Same for me, Midoriya-shounen. My name is Yagi Toshinori and I use he/him," Yagi added once I finished.
"O-oh! T-Thank you both for entrusting me with your civilian names! I won't let you down," Midoriya stuttered nervously but didn't seem entirely uncomfortable with the situation. "My pronouns are he/him also..."
"Great! Let's talk shop then. Tell us about your daily life, any exercise you do and any medical circumstances you have. I have worked out a rough workout and meal plan based on what I have observed in our first meeting already." All Might took hold of the conversation and soon enough we were hashing out the details of the training lessons.
With Yagi being responsible for the physical aspect and the dietary aspect of the training, she was going to be responsible for basic analytical work and teaching Midoriya basic hand-to-hand combat seeing that he was quirkless. His analytical mind suited her combat style perfectly.
Spots was glad, that hero schools hadn't banned quirkless students from attending yet but with the general public's attitude towards those without a quirk it could change within a few years. Someone like Midoriya could change a lot for his quirkless peers.
A huge responsibility on those tiny shoulders. He had his path cut out for him. Although...
She wasn't exactly ignorant of the considering look Yagi was shooting her while they were discussing all the details, but whatever secret he still had up his sleeve was not her business until he decided to tell her.
Spots wasn't sure what it was that the other hero was till hiding but she had the feeling that it had something to do with the hero himself but also his newly acquired student.
Things were going to be interesting for sure.
