The New York Bulletin was running a crazy line of calls and witnesses, alien invasion of New York and a Super Powered team and they were struggling to keep up with interviews. Clark stood in the door frame and knocked on the door frame of Ben Urich's office "Mr. Urich, Clark Kent. Perry White said he'd call you about me?" Clark asked before seeing Ben Urich turn around, his eyes scanned over Clark for a second before smiling "Of course, I'm just finishing tomorrow's front page" Ben gestured to the chair opposite to his and got up to close the door and walked to sit back down "How was Perry? I heard you did some freelance work for him before going off to find your place in the world? Metropolis wasn't all it cracked up to be?" He asked sipping his coffee as he rolled a bit closer to the desk, Clark nodded and looked around the room for a moment "I think I do more good here Mr. Urich, the people of this city need someone- something to believe in and I think that should be the press, sir" Clark nodded he knew that he needed to be here as both Superman and as Clark Kent a reporter.

Ben smiled for a moment and had a single thought run through his mind "You believe in the press then? That we can still be a force for good?"

Clark nodded and his lips parted as if he wasn't sure why he was being asked that but answered the only way Ma raised him to, honestly "Of course, the press is supposed to be the ones holding everyone accountable, we keep the government, the other papers, our leaders honest" Ben held pause and leaned back "And some day if Tony Stark or the Superman start to do the wrong thing instead of the right, I can trust Clark Kent to hold them to it?"

"Of course, no one is beyond reproach and I'd be glad to write about Superman, Captain America, or even Wonder Woman." Clark said as Ben nodded "Ellison will get you started, and I'm gonna keep my eye on you Kent, I see a bright future ahead of you here if you're willing to put the work in" Urich spoke as he stood up and offered Clark his hand.

Clark followed suit and shook the hand of the respected reporter before departing to find the "boss" so to speak.

"Newbie, here" Ellison spoke, tossing a folder to Clark who caught it, fumbling a few papers from it before nodding "Who is she?" he asked looking at a photo of a blonde woman who seemed vaguely familiar, his eyes rose to meet Brett Ellison who nodded "Claims she was saved from those aliens by Captain America and a building almost fell on her before Superman caught the debris, I just want you to get her statement" Ellison said nodding "Think you're ready for that?" Before Clark nodded "Of course " the elder man shook his head "Just Ellison, was my father" He spoke before Clark walked off to an empty rather boring looking room before knocking and entering "Miss Beth Johnson? I'm Clark Kent, is there anything I can get you before we start?" He asked before sitting down across from her, the moment she entered the room she had a glow about her before nodding "Y..you have a job?!" She gawked for a moment before Clark blushed "I'm not sure I know what you mean" He spoke with a shake in his voice, he was quickly catching on to what she meant as he closed his eyes, cursing himself for not noticing the folly in his great plan, everyone, everywhere was going to see Superman's face, which meant that they would see Clark Kent, and it would take an idiot to not put it together "You saved me!" she exclaimed before covering her mouth and shaking her head as she saw the look of shock on his face "Listen, Miss Johnson" he said looking down as his cheeks turned about as red as his cape and his lips parted for a moment "I would appreciate you not telling anyone about this revelation" He said calmly, internally he was cautiously freaking out, what about Ma? If she tells anyone his life is over before it even got started.

"Of course I, you just...you caught falling debris out of the air and saved my life, not telling anyone is the least I can do but I'm sure I won't be the only one to make the connection" she gulped for a moment "Maybe you could try a wig or something?" She offered the idea before he nodded. "A gust of wind knocked her folder open before he reappeared "This will just take a moment" he said putting on a pair of horn rimmed reading glasses as he focused his vision "Blues aren't as blue anymore, right?" Clark smiled before slumping his shoulders down a bit "Maybe I could play up a bumbling fool, I already spilled half of this file before walking in here" he laughed for a moment "Bosses want me to get a statement about what happened during the Incident as they are calling it"

Beth nodded and looked up at him with a smirk "If I didn't know better I'd say you look like him but...Superman wouldn't have a day job and you only kind of look like him" she said with a nod "You were. I mean Superman was the most important person to me that day, he caught the side of a building that was falling on me" she said blushing "I was dead for sure and he knew exactly when and where to be, it's almost like a miracle" she said looking across the table at him, she nodded, he smiled a bit as he started to write "Thank you Miss Johnson, I like to believe w-i mean he did a lot of good that day" Clark smiled offering a hand "That'll be all, I believe I've embarrassed myself enough for one interview, thank you for keeping my secret" Clark smiled as he extended a hand.

He left the room and took a deep breath before handing the quotes to Ellison "Did you want me writing this up or should I pass them to you?" He asked tepidly as Ellison grabbed the sheet and read them over "These are alright, go ahead and write the piece" he said with a wave of the hand as he caught the front page of the newspaper for tomorrow.

The Man of Tomorrow: Today

He smirked and nodded, "I might be able to get us a shot of him, if he comes out today of course." Clark offered as Ellison smirked, "Reporter that carries his own camera?" He asked before Clark shook his head "No I have a friend who's known to get pictures of heroics and I'll ask if he's got anything he hasn't sold yet for Superman'' he smiled before getting up to go to his desk "Tell him we pay better than anyone in town, I could use a good photographer on staff." He muttered knowing they'd just gotten rid of a college kid for photoshopping his stuff.

The work day came to an end as Clark left the office, pulling out his phone he dialed Peter Parker, hoping that he wouldn't be busy swinging somewhere "Peter, Parker Uh who is this?" The voice on the other end spoke as Clark laughed "Peter it's Superman, Natasha gave me your number." He said feeling like he should have opened up more with the Avengers, but Thor left, Banner was going back into hiding, Natasha and Wayne went to Gotham together, Steve and Diana would likely be busy reliving their days together, catching Steve up on what he's missed and Tony was, complicated, the worm hole clearly scared him and he might have issues later down the line but Clark knew he could be there for anyone at a moments notice.

"Yeah yeah uh Superman of course, Superman has my phone number" He chuckled and shook his head "Kal right what's up?" Peter stammered out a bit confused, he was in the middle of class at ESU and had been forced to step out and take the call but now that he knew it was Superman he was more than a little interested "It's Clark, Clark Kent. New York Bulletin, this is going to sound a little embarrassing but do you want to take some pictures of me? And make a little money on the side? I've seen your credits in the Bugle for shots of yourself and I'm writing a story and could use a shot that doesn't look like I took it." He asked curiously as Peter nodded to himself, staring inside the room "Sure thing um, give me a few hours and meet me at 137 Chrystie Street in Queens." he laughed, of all the ways for him to make a new friend, fighting a bunch of aliens wasn't at the top of his list but Clark seemed nice, even if he wasn't going to share his human name.

"Great I'll see you then" The reporter hung up the phone before smiling to himself and headed out of the office.

Clark stepped out into the street and turned down an alley, he slung his bag over his shoulder and at super speed pushed his clothes inside, he shot into the sky and flew towards Queens but stopped, he could hear frantic yelling into a phone, he stopped and had to focus, filtering thousands of different conversations but he focused on one voice "Regan please there's been an accident and I can't just leave my car!" A woman pleaded as teenage voice on the other end muttered "No, No doc it's fine" he heard the girl mutter as a door closed on the other end of the phone "I gotta go, it's been nice seeing you" she said in a solemn tone as the older woman began to panic "REGAN NO!" She shouted in a panic, she began to lay on the horn sobbing.

Clark stopped and flew to the top of a church's cross, quickly slinging the bag over the top before he went back to the police, softly landing behind them "Officer?" He asked standing there, arms at his side and cape billowing in the wind, the office turned back to face the man before stumbling "Superman?" She asked as he extended his hand "pleased to meet you?" He led her on to give her name as she nodded and shook his hand "Yuri Watanabe" the Asian officer took off her hat before Superman stepped beside her "What's going on? Bank robbery?" He asked as he began to scan the building.

"A jumper, teenage girl said she won't come back inside and we don't want to rush her or she might jump, any chance you can grab her?" Yuri asked as Clark shook his head "I'll talk to her" he said floating up, keeping his movements very telegraphed to the girl.

"Regan" he spoke landing beside her on the ledge, she had purple and black dyed hair, the same color clothes adorned her body as she peered over the edge and then back to Clark, she only nodded as he looked over the edge and then back down the road, he turned his head up and down, traffic jammed on all sides of their current overlook.

"Do you mind if I show you something?" He asked, extending a hand "I give you my word I will return you right here if you want me to Regan" he said as she picked at her fingernails before nodding nervously as she extended a pinkie "You know you can't break a pinkie swear right?" She asked, Clark nodded and extended his before he took her and flew them a few blocks over, descending down to the street and in front of a car, an older woman in her mid forties "Her car hasn't moved in ten minutes and probably won't for another hour" he said softly as she looked up at him with teary eyes and he spoke "People don't always lie, she really was stuck Regan, now what do you say I get you a pizza and get your doctor to her office so you can talk?" He asked as the girl cried and hugged him tightly and nodded "That would be nice" she muttered as she let go, Clark flew her back to Yuri and nodded "Watch her for a moment, okay?" he asked as Regan was a little hesitant to be with the police until Yuri grabbed her a bottle of water and smiled softly

Regan and Yuri looked up to the sky, Superman had a Prius over his head which he gently set down on the street next to the police cars, an older woman nearly leapt out of the car and looked at Regan crying "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" she pleaded as the girl nodded "It's okay I, I know you were stuck. He showed me" she muttered as the Doctor turned around to look at Superman before looking back at Regan "I thought you didn't want to see me or you were blowing me off, but I know you didn't lie and not everyone is a jerk" she said sniffling as she looked at Clark and then he nodded "You knew that, you just needed to be reminded" he smiled before shaking hands with everyone, before pull Yuri aside, pulling a few bills out from his sleeve "Get the two of them something to eat, the kid has been through a lot today" he said looking at the cop who simply nodded "Keep your cash Superman, not like you're raking in Stark bucks" she smiled slapping his shoulder lightly "I'll get the kid taken care of, find out what the family situation is like" she spoke as he smiled and nodded a bit, looking at Regan and Doctor Morgan going into the building before taking off into the sky.

He returned to the church to get his bag and headed towards Peter's house, landing a few blocks over before quickly changing into his street clothes and started walking.
