Taking what is mine chapter 1

I have been bin watching London's Burning again and this idea popped into my head. Hope you like it!

If you have read my story about what happened after the rave it's not essential but may give some context.

Disclaimer: I do not own London's burning

Sally fields lay in bed staring at the clock on her bedside table. The time read 02:16am. It had only moved one minute since the last time that she looked but it had felt like hours to her.

Frank had told her that she needed to sleep but she knew that she wouldn't be able to, no matter how hard she tried. Never in a million years did her current situation ever seem possible to happen but then again neither did becoming a mother. Now that she was a mother, she would never change it for the world.

As she lay in Frank's arms, she could feel his breathing slowing down as it tickled the back of her neck, meaning he was asleep. Sally wondered how he could sleep given their current situation but then again, he had been under more stress than she had. Dealing with trying to remain calm himself while providing emotional support to his hysteric partner, plus a very fussy 6-month-old baby who wouldn't stop sobbing. That was enough stress to tire anyone out and make them fall asleep.

Sally's eyes shifted from the clock on her bedside table, to the baby monitor that was next to it. Little James had finally gone to sleep an hour ago and by the sound coming from the monitor he was still asleep thankfully. James had been sobbing his little heart out since the whole thing started. When he did stop sobbing, he was very fussy and grumpy and wouldn't settle for either Sally or Frank. Sally finally got him to calm down by lying him down on their bed and lying down beside him. As she lightly rubbed James's arm, he drifted off to sleep and Frank had carried him back to his crib in the other room. A few people had commented that James was lucky as he wasn't old enough to understand what was going on. Sally knew differently though. James was the calmest baby she had ever known. He was never fussy, always smiley and loved to be held by anyone who held their arms out to him. For him to be grumpy and not settle with anyone, proved to her that he knew something wasn't right.

Next to James's baby monitor, there should have been a second baby monitor with the same snuffling noises coming from it, like there had been for the past 6 month. Tonight there was only one baby monitor. The other one was still in their bedroom but Frank had moved it to his side of the bed so it wouldn't torment Sally. She knew it would be tormenting Frank on his side to but he had insisted on moving it away from her. It wasn't just the baby monitor tormenting her though. There was also the empty crib that was next to James's. Like the baby monitor, there would be no sound coming from the second crib tonight. It lay empty expect for the white mattress, pink blanket and pillow. Sally couldn't bear to look at it tonight knowing it would be empty and she had asked Frank to take James back to his crib beside the empty one.

Missing from the crib was little Sarah. Sarah was definitely the livelier out of the twins. Like James, she was always smiling and happy to passed around people who wanted to hold her. The little girl had already developed a cheeky side even at 6 months old. If anything was in reach of her hand, she made to grab it. So far in the flat, she had pulled down her parents new living room blinds, pulled leaves of the plant in the kitchen and tried to eat them. She also snapped the cord in the bathroom that was used to turn the shower on. Even her twin brother wasn't spared from her antics. If they were in their playpen, Sarah would snatch a toy off James for herself to play with but it didn't stop at toys. She'd snatch his dummies out of his mouth but them in her mouth and take his snacks for herself. When all of this happened, James would either look around for another toy or laugh at his twin. Sally had said they had to be firmer with her but Frank just shrugged it of. This frustrated her as Sarah was daddies little girl and couldn't do any wrong in Frank's eyes. If Sarah was in her mum's arms, she was happy with mummy but if she saw her dad, her little chubby arms reached out to him. No longer wanting mummy but only daddy. Everywhere they went, Frank always held Sarah and Sally had James.

Since the day the twins were born, they were inseparable and did everything together, almost in sync. If they needed their nappies changed, it was together, they ate at the same pace and even moved their arms and legs at the same time. Sally and Frank had joked that when they started to crawl they didn't have to worry because if one were missing, the other one would be right behind them.

Not just now though.

As Sally lay thinking of Sarah's antics, fresh tears escaped from her eyes and she wiped them away with the back of her hand but a few fell on Frank's arm. Her eyes went back to the clock, which read 02:18. She gave a low grunt and laid her head back on her pillow.

"Sal." Frank said in a very sleepy voice. "You need to sleep. It's gonna a be long day tomorrow."

Frank's gave a yawn and his breathing went slower again meaning he was asleep again.

Was he crazy! How could she sleep when there were reminders of her daughter everywhere but she didn't say anything to him. There was no need to start an argument and potentially wake James up plus the fact that Frank was right.

First thing tomorrow there would be more coppers at their door asking all kinds of questions about them and their movements.

All that Sally wanted to know, was where was her baby daughter.

Her little girl had been kidnapped 12 hours earlier and nobody knew where she was.
