Chapter 12
Sally slowly opened her eyes the next morning and let her eyes adjust to the light in the room. She felt so much better this morning and it helped that she got a full nights sleep, as the twins hadn't woken up in the middle of the night. She stretched her arms above her head and seen that she was no longer in Frank's arms. They often went to sleep holding each other but they never woke up in each other's arms. As she brought her arms down, she turned to her left to check the time and was shocked to see what it was 8:30 am. She had slept for eleven hours but it was concerning that Sarah and James weren't up yet. They always got up between 6am and 7am but it was way past that time now. Without looking at the monitors, she carefully climbed out of bed, slipped her dressing gown on and slipped out of the bedroom. Very quietly she opened the door to the twins room and went inside but when she saw them she couldn't help the smile that spread across her face. Both Sarah and James were lying on their backs with their arms spread wide by their sides. Their snuffling told her that they were both still sound asleep. Maybe they needed to be tickled that much every night so that they slept for longer. Not wanting to disturb them, she slowly slipped back out of their room and closed the door quietly again. Once closed, she turned and slipped back inside her and Frank's room, again closing the door quietly behind her. As she took her dressing gown off, she could see that Frank was on the edge of sleep and would be up soon as well. She hung up her dressing gown and got back into bed. Once she was back in bed, she slowly leaned over and placed a light kiss on Frank's lips to help him wake up. As she moved away, his eyes fluttered open and he smiled at her.
'Well that's a good way to be woken up." Frank said as he turned on his back and stretched as he fully woke up.
"That was my thinking. You sleep ok?" Sally asked as she waited for him to turn back and face her.
"Best nights kip in a long time, didn't even hear the kids during the night. How'd you sleep?" Frank asked as he stretched his arms above his head, flexing his muscles.
"Yeah out like a light. Kids didn't even wake up during the night which was a bonus." Sally replied.
"That's good. What time is it anyway?" Frank asked as he brought his arms back down and turned to his left to face her.
"Just after 8:30." Sally replied as their eyes met.
"The kids still sleeping?" He asked her as he opened his arms for her.
"Yeah. Just checked on them and still sound asleep." Sally said as she moved into his arms.
"All the excitement over the past day and all that tickling last night must have worn them out." Frank said as wrapped his arms around her.
Sally leaned up so she was level with him and kissed him. "Gives us more time for what we started last night." She said as there lips parted.
Frank smiled at her and happily kissed her again. They kissed a few more times when Sally's phone started ringing.
"Sal ignore it." Frank protested as Sally moved out his arms to answer the phone.
"If I ignore it, it might wake the kids up." Sally said as she grabbed her phone and lay back in bed.
"Hello?" She asked as she brought the phone to her ear.
As the other person spoke, Frank seen Sally's face changed and knew instantly that it was her mum.
"Yeah I know mum but we've just been so busy. We've a lot going on just now besides looking after the kids." Sally said to her mum trying to make up an excuse this time.
She listened to her mum as she spoke down the phone. "Yeah their fine. No crawling or words yet but it won't be long now." Sally replied back and then went silent as her mum spoke again.
Frank reached over and took her free hand, squeezing it gently.
"Yeah I will mum." Sally said as she rolled her eyes hoping this call would end soon.
"I don't know we haven't really thought that far ahead yet and I'll need to check our shifts. Why?" Sally asked dreading her mum's response.
As her mum spoke, she shot Frank a look that said, "help me". He gently squeezed her hand knowing if he spoke, her mum would want to speak him as well, dragging the call out.
"Yeah I'll check and I'll speak to Frank as well then let you know." Sally said as she rolled her eyes again.
She went quiet again as her mum spoke. "Yeah I'll let you know soon but I need to go. The kids need their breakfast and their fussing right now." Sally lied hoping it would get her mum off the phone.
"Yeah he's got Sarah but James needs fed as well. Would have been easier if I had just had one." Sally said as she rolled her eyes again and listened to her mum speak.
"I'll tell him. I'll speak to you later. Bye." Sally said as she took the phone away from her ear and let out a sigh of relief.
"That sounded intense." Frank said as she turned and placed her phone back on her bedside table.
"Isn't every call with her."? Sally said as she turned back on her side to face him.
"What was she asking?" Frank asked her.
"Just asking how the kids were and if their talking or crawling yet. Then she was asking what our plans were for Christmas and if we wanted to go up and spend it with them. Said we'd think about it and get back to her." Sally said as she moved back into Frank's arms.
"I think we should go." Frank said knowing he'd have to convince her.
"What?" Sally asked, shocked what he was saying.
"Come on Sal. It's the kids first Christmas and it would be good if they were with their grandparents, cousin and aunt. I know you can only spend so much time with your mum but she'll be so focused on the kids that she won't have time with anything else." Frank said as he looked down to face her.
Sally rolled her eyes again but this time it was at Frank. "I hate it when you're right." She said knowing he was right.
They both laughed and Frank smirked at her. "Now where were we before your phone rang." Frank whispered seductively to her.
Sally moved forward and gave him a long lingering kiss.
"I think I remember now." Frank said as their lips separated and he moved back in and kissed her again.
They managed to kiss again before another noise interrupted them. Baby noises started coming from both baby monitors meaning Sarah and James were up. They weren't crying or fussing but just making baby noises as if they were talking to each other in their own language.
"It's like they knew we were talking about them." Sally said as she turned to check the monitors.
"Another reason to visit your folks. They can look after them for a night while we go out." Frank said as she moved back into his arms.
"Ok I'll check the shifts later and we can make a decision." Sally said as she listened to Sarah and James babble away.
"That's all I ask." Frank said as he kissed the top of her head and listened to the twins as well.
They listened to Sarah and James for about ten minutes until Sally got out of Frank's arms and turned the monitors off.
"I'm gonna bring them through." Sally said as she slipped out of bed and went to the bedroom door.
Frank didn't responded but yawn and stretched his arms above his head again and waited for Sally to come back with the twins. She came back in a few minutes later, with a twin in each arm.
"I think we need new flatmates. These two are too loud." She said as the twins kept making baby noises in her arms.
"I agree. We'll kick them out in a few weeks." Frank said as he leaned forward and took James out of Sally's arms.
Sally slipped back into bed and they placed the twins between them on top of the bed on their backs. Frank and Sally lay on their sides, facing the twins and each other.
"We should take them swimming tomorrow." Sally said as she tickled Sarah and then James's belly.
"Yeah they love the water and be good to get them out the flat for a bit." Frank said as he watched the twins.
Both Sarah and James decided they didn't want to be on their backs, so they slowly rolled over to lie on their fronts. As Sarah lay on her stomach, she looked up at Frank and smiled. "Dada." She said.
Frank and Sally froze.
"What did she say?" Sally asked to be sure.
Sarah looked at her mum. "Dada" She said to her Sally.
"That's right gorgeous. Dada." Frank beamed at her. He sat up in bed, leaned down and picked Sarah up as he hugged her to his chest.
"Dada Dada." Sarah babbled as Frank hugged her to his chest and kissed her cheek.
"I knew that was going to be you're first word." Sally cooed to Sarah as she leaned forward and kissed her cheek.
"What about you?" Sally asked James as she leaned down and picked him up. "What's your first word gonna be?" She cooed to him as she hugged him to her chest.
"Mm Mm." James said as he looked up at his mum.
"Mama. Mama." Sally said to him as she trying to get him to say his first word.
James wasn't in the mood for talking so instead of trying to speak, he let out a big yawn and snuggled more into his mum.
"Is it to early for you mate?" Frank asked as he watched his sleepy son cuddle into Sally.
"He'll always comes to life after breakfast." Sally replied as kissed the top of James head.
Frank smiled back at her and kissed Sarah's head as she snuggled more into him as well.
"They're growing up so fast. They'll be crawling very soon." Sally said as she adjusted her arms to snuggle James.
"Yeah it's scary how quickly they're growing up." Frank said as he looked at James and back down to Sarah. "You ever think about having more?"
Sally eyes shot up to him. "What?"
"You ever think about having more kids?" Frank asked as he smiled at her shocked face.
"I already gave you two kids. Isn't that enough?" Sally asked him.
"I'm not saying a whole football team but one more would be nice. What you think?" Frank asked her. He loved the twins but one or maybe two more would be nice.
"Right now I'm happy with these two little monsters." Sally said as she smiled at Sarah.
"Me to but will you think about maybe having more." Frank asked her as Sarah kept wriggling in his arms.
"I'll think about it but if we do have more, I don't want another anytime soon. Maybe in a few years but now I'm happy with the two we got." Sally as she smiled back at him.
Frank smiled at her happy that she would consider having more kids and would be happy to wait a few more years if that's what it took. Right now he was happy with the two kids that they had. Two more than what he thought he'd ever have.
They stayed in bed for a bit longer, enjoying cuddles with the twins and having a lazy morning for a change. Sally had gotten up first to shower and brush her teeth, then once done she came back into the bedroom, got changed. Once she was ready Frank went to get ready for the day while she got both of the twins changed for the day. She put them both in jeans, socks, an under vest, then James was put in a blue long sleeve t-shirt and Sarah in a pink one. It did look so cute when they were dressed almost identical but she didn't do it daily as they both had their own personalities and Sarah did look cute in her little dresses. Once she had them changed, she picked them up and carried them through to the kitchen to get some breakfast. Just as she had popped Sarah into her highchair, Frank appeared from their room and strapped her in while she got James settled into his highchair. Once both were settled, Sally made the breakfast for both twins, while Frank made breakfast for him and Sally.
"I'm so glad James has lost his clinginess." Sally said as she made baby porridge in two baby bowls.
"Me to. He just missed his other half." Frank said as he looked at the twins who were happily sitting quietly waiting to be served their breakfast.
Sally smiled back at him and went back to making the twins breakfast while Frank made there's as well. Once all the breakfasts were made, they grabbed the food and went back to the kitchen table. Both twins started making happy baby noises when they seen the food. As Sally placed the food down, Sarah looked at her confused but then turned to her other side to face Frank.
"Dada!" Sarah said in a firm tone.
Frank smiled at her. "Someone wants me to feed her." He said as he moved over to the chair beside Sarah's high chair.
"Is that all I'm going to hear all day?" Sally asked as Sarah looked back at her.
"Dada." Sarah replied.
"I'll take that as a yes." Sally said as she kissed Sarah's cheek and moved walked round to sit in the chair besides James's high chair. "At least you still want me to feed you." She said to him as she sat down beside him.
Frank smiled back at her as he gave Sarah a spoonful of porridge. James would let anyone feed him but he decided not to annoy her and went back to feeding Sarah as Sally fed James.
"I wonder when Campbell will call?" Sally said as James finished his porridge.
"I was thinking the same thing." Frank said as put Sarah's empty bowl to one side then grabbed her bottle and placed in her mouth. "The sooner he does the better then we can move on."
"Yeah." Sally replied as she gave James his bottle as well. "I still want to see Shauna though."
"Sal they might not let you." Frank said as he titled Sarah's bottle up further.
"I know that Frank but this could be my only chance. I need the closure." Sally replied to him.
"Ok. Let's see what Campbell says when he gets here." Frank said as he took a bite of his toast.
"I was thinking about going to see Mick as well." Sally said nervously not meeting his eyes.
Frank looked up at her not believing what she was saying.
"Come on don't look at me like that." Sally said as she tilted James bottle up further. "His marriage was on the rocks but now his wife's going away either to prison or a hospital. He's left to be a single dad with a job that's risky and bills to pay."
"Sal I know that but what about us? We were the ones who had our baby taken." Frank said as he wiped Sarah's face with a cloth.
"That wasn't Mick's fault and we've got her back now." Sally replied as she wiped James's face. "Mick's the one who's come out worse with all this and like we said yesterday, we're both didn't help the situation with Mick and Shauna. I just think it would be a good idea to see him and tell him that we don't blame him. Plus it'll make it less awkward than waiting until we're back on shift as well."
Frank knew that she was right in what she was saying. With everyone involved in the past 48 hours events, only one person had come out worse off. He and Sally had Sarah back with no injuries but if there was any emotional injuries they could deal with them as they happened. Elaine had no life threatening injuries and would be fine after a week or so of rest. Shauna wound finally get the help that she needed but Mick was now in a worse position. He knew that he was partly to blame for this and didn't want Mick to suffer more than he already had. In truth it was the little green monster called jealousy in Frank's head rearing his head again. He trusted Sally and knew that she loved him and not Mick but their friendship still caused the little monster to appear at times. Mick would need someone to talk to about everything and he always seemed less stressed when he spoke to Sally. Frank swallowed his jealousy once again knowing she would come home to his bed tonight and that she loved him.
Knowing his jealousy was buried again as he stood up of his seat. "Yeah you're right but probably best if you go without me." He said as he picked up all the dirty dishes off the table.
"Yeah good idea." Sally said as she followed him into the kitchen and grabbed a cloth to clean the kitchen table. "Let's see what Campbell says and take it from there."
Frank smiled back at her as he washed the dishes from breakfast. Just as Sally was about to walk back to the table, her phone started ringing in her pocket and she dug it out to answer it.
"Hello?" She said.
"So much better thank you." Sally replied before waiting for the other person to speak.
"Perfect we're not heading out. See you soon. Ok. Bye." Sally said before hanging up the phone
"That Campbell?" Frank asked as he placed the last dish on the drying board.
"Yeah his ears must have been burning." Sally said as she placed the phone back in her pocket. "Says they've reached a decision on the case and he's coming over to talk to us. Should be here in the next half an hour."
"Hopefully be the last time we'll see him." Frank said as he walked back over to the kitchen table.
"In the nicest way yep." Sally said as she smiled at him and followed him back to the kitchen table.
Frank walked over to Sarah's highchair, unclipped her and lifted her up into his arms then he moved over to James's highchair to do the same while Sally washed the kitchen table.
"Hey Sal." Frank called as he settled James on his other hip. "Watch this."
Sally to turned to see what he was talking about. As she turned to face him, Frank adjusted the twins in his arms and was using them as kettle bells for weight training. He did it once but it was enough to send Sarah and James back into hysterics. He lifted them a few more times which made them laugh more while Frank and Sally were happy to see both babies laughing.
"If they're sick on you, you're cleaning them up." Sally said as she finished cleaning the table and knowing if he kept going both twins would be sick.
Knowing she was right, Frank adjusted the twins back on his hips and walked over to the living room but they didn't look happy at not being used for weight training anymore.
"Sorry but Mummy's a spoilsport." Frank said as he sat down on the cream couch and adjusted the twins on his lap so they were facing him.
"I heard that Frank!" Sally shouted from the kitchen.
"We'll do it again later when your tummy's aren't so full." Frank said as he laughed at Sally while he tickled the twin's bellies.
"Dada" Sarah said as Frank tickled her belly.
"That's right gorgeous." Frank said as smiled at her. Hearing her say those words was making his smile get bigger and melted his heart;.
"Da." James said as his belly was tickling.
"Just about there mate. Dada." Frank said to James hoping he would do the same as Sarah.
"Da." James replied with a gummy smile.
"That's my boy." Frank said as he tickled James cheek. "Just don't let Mummy hear you say that or she'll get mad at me."
James smiled back at his dad as if he was showing that he understood and went back to having a baby talk with Sarah. As he watched the twins, he could hear Sally on the phone again with someone but couldn't hear what she was saying. Maybe it was Mick and she was arranging to meet him later or her mum again. He knew he would find out what was happening when she came off the phone so he went back to watching the twins babble away. He watched them for a few more minutes before he heard Sally coming into the living room.
"Right then Miss Mooney." Sally said as she sat down beside Frank on the couch and looked at Sarah. "I know you're Daddy's girl but Mummy wants some time with you to."
Carefully she took Sarah off Frank's lap but before she sat her on her lap, she lifted Sarah to her face and kissed her cheek. Once she placed Sarah on her lap, she expected Sarah to reach back to Frank but she didn't for a change.
"Mm M Mm." Sarah said as she leaned into Sally's side.
"Can you say Mama?" Sally asked her.
Sarah looked up to her mum and smiled. "Mm."
Sally smiled back at Sarah. "We'll try again later. I'm just happy you're back where you belong." She snuggled Sarah closer and kissed her head again.
Frank leaned forward and kissed Sally's cheek, happy that she was back to herself as well as the twins back to themselves.
"Who were you talking to a minute ago?" Frank asked as he held onto James as he wriggled about.
"Kate." Sally said as she rubbed James hand to stop him wriggling about. "Elaine's getting out of hospital this morning but she wants to see Sarah and celebrate that she's home. They've invited us round tonight for a Chinese and catch up. You fancy it?"
"Sounds good to me. What you thinking?" Frank asked as James kept wriggling.
"Yeah sounds good to me." Sally said as she got her phone out again. "I'll text her to say we're up for it and what time their thinking."
As much as Sally wanted to spent time with just the four of them, it would be good to see Kate and see if Elaine was feeling better after their talk yesterday. Plus it would be good for Sarah and James to see Ajay as well. When she was half way through texting Kate, the intercom buzzed in the flat.
"That'll be Campbell hopefully." Frank said as he stood up with James and walked over to the intercom.
"Hello?" He asked as he picked up the phone.
"Yeah come on up. You mind where it is?" He asked to the other person.
"Yeah that's right see you in sec." Frank replied as he pushed the buzzer to let the person into the building as James tried to grab the intercom phone.
"Mate that's not a toy." Frank said as he moved the phone back on the holder.
"Was it him?" Sally asked as he moved away from the wall to stop James reaching for the phone.
"Yeah." Frank replied as he readjusted James in arms.
"Good then we can move on and put this all behind us." Sally said as she tickled Sarah's cheek.
"I know." Frank said just as someone knocked on the flat door.
Frank turned and walked to the front door to open it for Campbell, hoping that he was bringing them good news.
"Morning." Frank said as he opened the door and gestured for Campbell to come in.
"Good Morning, Mr Mooney. How are you this morning?" Campbell asked as he walked in the flat and closed the door behind him.
"Yeah good thanks. Yourself?" Frank asked as he led them back into the living room to join Sally.
"I'm good thank you. The CSI's are now finished this and said it can be returned." Campbell replied as he placed Sarah's car seat on top of the shoe rack seeing that Frank had his hands full with James.
"Cheers." Frank said he kept walking knowing he couldn't put it in the cupboard.
Campbell followed him and he sat down on the blue couch as Frank sat down with James on the cream one beside Sally. "How are you today Miss Fields?"
"A lot better thank you. These two little monsters slept through the night so got a decent nights kip for once." Sally replied as she turned Sarah so she could see Campbell as well.
"They don't look like monsters to me." Campbell said as he looked at the smiling twins on their parent's laps.
"Don't let those smiles trick you. Their double trouble." Frank said as turned James to face Campbell as well.
"I don't believe that. At least they're not as upset as yesterday when I seen them." Campbell replied as he leaned back on the couch.
"Yeah they just missed each other but when they seen each other they calmed down." Sally said as she kissed the top of Sarah's head. "Thank you again for finding her and bringing her home safely to us."
"Actually I'm only partly to thank. It's your boss Mr Callaghan that you need to really thank." Campbell replied knowing he couldn't take all the credit.
Both Frank and Sally shared a look of confusion between them. "How'd you mean?" Sally asked as she turned back to face him.
Campbell let out a heavy knowing there was a lot they still had to discuss. "Once you were reunited with this one last night I didn't get a chance to tell you what happened and how we got her back." Campbell said as he looked at Sarah and then to Frank and Sally. "When I left here yesterday after we established Mrs Callaghan as a suspect, I told you that I was going back to the station for more evidence."
Both Frank and sally nodded to show they were listening.
"It wasn't true. The call I got wasn't from the lab but from Mr Callaghan. He had arrived at his marital home where he discovered Mrs Callaghan with your daughter and she was trying to soothe her but she wouldn't stop crying and was very distressed."
As Campbell spoke, Sally held Sarah tighter knowing how upset she had been and she was scared so she hadn't settled.
"Mr Callaghan was concerned for both Sarah and Mrs Callaghan so he called me to say he knew where Sarah was but the situation needed to be handled carefully." Campbell continued.
"I arranged to met my colleague who specialises in mental ill health and negotiations while Mr Callaghan got his son out of the house and tried to get Sarah away from his wife however she refused to give her up. When we arrived we were posing as doctors and Mrs Callaghan was very panicky about how Sarah wouldn't settle and nothing would work to calm her down. Even when we said we needed to examine Sarah, Mrs Callaghan still refused to give her up. Eventually my colleague talked her into giving me Sarah and I got her out of the house and took her straight to the hospital to be examined while I called you. Dr Brown called me this morning to say that they found traces of baby pain medicine in her system but it's perfectly safe and there will be no harm with the amount that was found in her. Mrs Callaghan has admitted to giving it to Sarah as she thought it would help her sleep during the night and soothe her."
At Campbell's last words, a tear flew down Sally's face knowing her baby had been given medicine that she didn't need. She and Frank had never had to given the twins medicine as they normally self soothed or just needed a dummy to go to sleep. All Sarah needed was her parents, brother and her own crib to go to sleep but she had been given medicine that she didn't need and it almost made Sally sick.
"While I took Sarah to the hospital, Mrs Callaghan became very distressed that she wasn't with her anymore and became very anxious. My colleague knew that we only had a small window so he told her he was taking her to the hospital but instead he took her to the police station where we've been assessing her for the last 12 hours." Campbell finished his recall of last night's events.
"Did she say why she took her anyway?" Frank asked as he processed what he had just heard.
"Exactly the reason what Miss Fields said yesterday. She believed that Sarah was her baby and that she wanted her back with her real mother. She had been watching you since you went back to work to establish a pattern of who looked after your twins and when would be her best opportunity. Her husband had called her and mentioned the fire that kept you up all night. She knew this was her chance as it would be easy to over power Ms Reeves rather than yourselves, Mrs Green or Miss Spencer. She also admitted to hitting Ms Reeves with a loose rock in order to gain entry to the property and take Sarah. Once she had Sarah, she didn't want the other children to be at risk so she locked the door behind her and slipped the key back in the letter box before heading home with Sarah." Campbell replied.
"There's one thing I don't understand." Sally said. "Why did she take Sarah and not James? She wasn't far long enough to know what she was having so she could have taken either twin but why Sarah?"
"I don't know Miss Fields." Campbell said as he had been thinking the same thing. "It may have just been the first twin she grabbed when she had the opportunity. It could be a number of things."
"So now that she's been arrested what happens next?" Frank asked as James snuggled into him
Campbell took a deep breath knowing his next words had to be said carefully. "At the moment Mrs Callaghan is in police custody at the station and normally with a case like this it would go to court and she'd be looking at 10 years plus in prison. However given Mrs Callaghan's mental state and after evaluating her, it has been advised that sending her to a psychiatric hospital would be a better idea as she would get the right help that she needs but we still have the option of the court proceeding."
Both Sally and Frank looked at each other confused by what he meant.
"It means that we would advise for her to sent away to a hospital where she will get the help that she needs or if you want to, you can press charges meaning the case will go to court and Mrs Callaghan will go to prison instead."
"So your saying that it's our decision as to what her future is?" Frank asked.
"Ultimately yes it is." Campbell replied. "If Mrs Callaghan is sent to a hospital she will be there some time as well while she gets the help she needs or you can press charges and the case will go to court. I know it's not going to be an easy decision to make so I don't expect an answer right now but I would advise you to consider all the facts before making a decision."
"What if this happens again if she's released?" Sally asked. "Would we not be able to press charges then?"
Campbell gave her a light smile. "Hopefully that won't happen Miss Fields but if it did, it would be treated as a separate incident so you could if you wanted."
"Ok." Sally said as she kissed the top of Sarah's head.
"Do you have any questions?" Campbell asked knowing that they probably did.
"I want to see her. Can I come and see her?" Sally asked with pleading eyes.
"Are you sure that's a good idea Miss Fields?" Campbell asked surprised by her question.
"Yes. I need to see her to give me the closure I need." Sally said. "Please. You can be there with me if it helps."
Campbell let out a heavy sigh. He knew why she would want to see Shauna but it could also not help them if she didn't like what Shauna said to her. "Ok come by the station this afternoon and I'll see what I can do but I may need to be present with you when you see her."
"Thank you." Sally replied.
"No problem. Do you know how you want to proceed with this just now?" Campbell asked as he looked at them.
Both Sally and Frank shared a look between them but they knew that they needed to talk about the issue first.
"It's ok. I knew that you would need some time to discuss it as it's not a straight yes or no answer." Campbell said as he stood up from the couch. "I need to head out as I also need to speak to Ms Reeves as the same will apply to her for the assault charges when she was hit her over the head."
"Do you need an answer by a set date?" Sally asked as she stood up and placed Sarah on her hip.
"No Miss Fields but I would say no more than a couple of days maximum." Campbell replied as he smiled at Sarah who was smiling back at him.
"No problem." Frank said as he stood up and moved James to his hip as well. "We'll let you know as soon as we've talked about it."
"Thank you. Until I see you both again, enjoy your time with these two little ones and know that this is almost over." Campbell said as he waved bye to Sarah and James.
James tried to wave back as Campbell spoke and Sarah waved as well but made baby noises as if to say "Thank you for bringing me back to my Mummy and Daddy."
"Yeah they're definitely not monsters to me." Campbell laughed as he stopped waving at the twins and walked to the door.
Both Sally and Frank smiled at his words as they followed him to the door.
"I'll see you at the station later Miss Fields." Campbell as he opened the front door.
"Yeah I'll see you later." Sally replied happy that he was letting her see Shauna.
"See you later Mr Mooney." Campbell said as he closed the door and made to leave the building.
As the door closed, Sally and Frank headed back into the living room and placed the twins in the play nest. Frank placed James in first and then went over to the toy box and grabbed two random toys for the twins to keep them entertain for a while. He placed a toy in James lap and then Sarah's as Sally set her down as well. Both twins picked up their toy and played them happily as Sally and Frank sat down on the cream couch and both let out a heavy sigh.
"That wasn't what I thought he was gonna say." Sally said as she leaned into Frank's arms.
"Me either. I thought she would get sentenced and that would be the end of it." Frank replied as he put his arm around her.
"Same here." Sally said as she turned slightly so she could face him. "What are you thinking about it?"
Frank let out another heavy sigh before he turned to face her. "Very conflicted. You?" He asked hoping she was on the same page as him.
"Very very conflicted." Sally replied not knowing what to do either.
TO BE CONTINUED.
