Candles
This was not their custom. But out of reverence and memory, they continued the tradition in their names.
Recovered with a hidden cache of books, mementos and religious items, the menorah now shone brightly in the window. Two years after the war, the family's hopes and dreams made their way to London. Newkirk donated the items. But, he kept the small menorah for himself.
As the flames danced, Peter and his wife embraced one another.
Carrying on the tradition brought some comfort. They hoped this small act would bring not closure-for one should never forget-but peace to all those lost.
