After a some binge watching and rounds of video games, we decided to call it a night. Though the night had been civil, I'm pretty sure the only one not sensing the rising tension was Hinata.
He'd offered to walk with Tsukishima to his car but he insisted he'd be fine. Once he'd left, I noticed he'd left his sweatshirt on the couch.
"Shoyo!" I called, "I'll be back. Tsuki forgot his sweatshirt!"
"Baby are you sure? I can take it!" he insisted.
"I've got it," I smiled, "Plus, I need to stretch and get some fresh air."
"Alright," he hesitantly agreed, "But, if you need help, call me. I'll come get you straight away."
I nodded and hurried out the door. I rushed to the elevator where I caught Tsukishima entering.
"Hey! Your sweatshirt dumbass!" I rushed into the elevator just as the doors closed.
He looked like he'd seen a ghost.
"Tsuki I don't know what your issue is but-" I began.
I abruptly felt my back against the cold wall of the elevator and a weight pressing against me. I strained for breath and looked upward. Tsukishima was glaring daggers down at me.
"What the hell.. Tsuki.. I can't breathe!" I squeaked.
"Vanji are you really that stupid?!" he shouted.
"Tsukishima get off! I don't know what you're talking about!" I struggled.
"Did that night really not mean anything to you?" he asked forcefully.
"Of course it meant something. I had fun that night," I replied.
"You know what I mean, Vanji!" he growled.
I winced, "Tsukishima... I can't.."
"Please, I need to know.." he pleaded.
No, no. He can't do this. It was supposed to just be something simple. He was the one person who I could always understand and he understood me.
I covered my ears and shut my eyes tight and I could feel tears run down my cheeks. I felt his grip loosen, and the elevator slow to a halt.
Then, I felt something against my lips. The scent of mint and sage flooded my nostrils. I opened my eyes and felt his hands cup my face. I felt so small compared to him. His presence enveloped me. I couldn't think straight.
He slowly backed away and hurriedly exited the elevator, "I'm sorry.. I can't do this.."
I reached out for him, "Kei!"
He stopped in his tracks, "You've.. never called me that."
"I.. I can't think of any other way.. to say.. I'm sorry Kei.." I sighed sadly.
His eyes darkened, "I know.."
He stalked out the apartment lobby doors. I rushed into the elevator and pressed the close button repeatedly. Once the door slid shut, I slumped to the ground and brought my knees to my chest.
When did everything get so complicated? He couldn't be serious. Was this another one of his cruel jokes? I touched my lips with my fingertips. He'd never been so forceful with me. No matter how brazen Tsukishima could be, he always teased but he'd never shaken me the way he did just now.
The roughness of his kiss, yet the passion behind it left my thoughts reeling. He'd obviously meant something to it. He always knows how to get under my skin. But, this time was different.
I heard the elevator open and when I looked up Hinata was standing at the door.
"Vanji! You ok?" he gasped helping me to my feet.
I instantly buried myself into his chest and hid my face.
"Hey! Baby?" he held me tightly, "Did something happen?"
"We need to talk.." I muttered.
"O-okay." he replied.
