Hehe traps and angst time
As soon as she had stepped through to the next room, bright white horizontal bars zapped into existence across the doorway. The Doctor turned back to face them, but quickly turned back to face her failures.
"Doctor I don't understand- what are those machines? And what is Trenzalore?"
"TARDIS's, all of them. Tortured and cannibalised to let a paradox exist, each machine holding an impossible event, a sort of threaded loop in the fabric of space-time. And these? They were all made to hold paradoxes I created." Yaz had never seen her look so ashamed in all the time they'd been travelling together.
"And Trenzalore?"
"A planet. A Planet where, in the future, my grave can be found- was found. It was the planet I died protecting. My greatest failure. It was the planet where I was given my new set of faces". The alien emitted a choking sound, as if she regretted living another two lifetimes. If she had known what was being done to grant her these lives, what was being sacrificed, would she still have accepted her new regeneration cycle?
"So go on, Doctor, which one is for Trenzalore? Which one is for the Bad Wolf exception? Which one for when your little pet gave you back your own advice in that barn?"
"Wait, what? I don't…" The Doctor turned around again, clearly bewildered.
"Okay, so you clearly didn't know about that one. Well, I think it's probably the one in the corner over there, anyway. It certainly looks dismal and in enough pain to be part of your childhood"
"Doctor, I still don't understand. How can a TARDIS become something like that? They look, well, sick"
The Master craned his head to face Yasmin."A paradox is when you break something that should be impossible to break. A Paradox Machine is the thing that lets you break it. I made one once, do you remember Doctor? There's an echo of it here, somewhere. To keep the whole Universe from collapsing. All because you destroyed my beautiful machine"
"I saved her! I saved my TARDIS from what you did to her!"
"Really Doctor? Does this look saved to you? Is all this worth it?"
Yasmin looked on helplessly- the Doctor has to get out of this, back to her. She deserves that much.
Angst AND yearning sapphics? You're welcome.
