Hotaru Tomoe is dying. And despite their best efforts, it is there for all to see. Sailor Saturn may reside within her, but that will not save her human form. And though Saturn is destined to be reborn, Hotaru, this, quiet and kind Hotaru, will cease to be. No more than a flicker in time.
And Chibiusa can't stand it. Despite all of their attempts, they haven't been able to find a way to save Hotaru. The doctor's have said to keep her comfortable and that this is about how much time a child with her conditions would have.
"You'll see each other again Chibiusa, it's destined," Minako tries to comfort her.
But all Chibiusa can think is that her best friend in the entire universe is destined to die. And that she'll be alone again, like when she first came to the past and wasn't recognized by a soul. All of their precious memories and plans will be forgotten, cut short.
And Chibiusa thinks there has to another way. This fate is too cruel for her heart to take. It cannot be that destiny wanted this.
The past. If Chibiusa could rewrite the past, so that Hotaru never got so sick, or better yet, if she could find some way to keep her here. Maybe her mother in the future would know. Chibiusa wishes she could speak to her. But it isn't time for her to leave yet. They still need to ensure the safety of this world, as Rei has been having visions again.
Pulling out her Space-Time Key, Chibiusa holds it close, wishing she could go back to a safer time. This time is so painful and scary. Why must she watch her friend perish? It seems so unfair.
Clutching the Key close, Chibiusa wishes for a cure to this heartache. Tears starting to fall freely now. When suddenly, the key starts to glow.
The door to her bedroom creaks open.
"Chibiusa, how are- what's going on?!" Makoto exclaims in concern, rushing to Chibiusa's side, having noted the key glowing in her hands.
"I just.. wished for this pain to go away," Chibiusa responds tearfully.
But before she can speak further, the key, she now held up to her face to examine more closely, begins to glow even brighter, emanating a powerful energy that surrounds them. Chibiusa begins to rise into the air.
"Chibiusa!" Makoto cried, grasping her wrist.
Darkness surrounded them. They were falling, but not to the floor, but in vast space. And Makoto briefly wondered if this is what it was like for Chibiusa when she arrived here.
Before the cry of panic died on her lips, the ground became visible once more, but they were no longer in Chibiusa's bedroom but an unfamiliar city. She could tell for they fell past skyscrapers into the heart of a bustling town center.
As they finally made painful contact with the ground, Makoto rose up on her elbows to find Chibiusa shifting to do the same beside her.
"What have you done, Chibiusa?!" Makoto cried, searching her face desperately for answers.
"I-I don't know," Chibiusa replied, looking as stunned and helpless as Makoto.
Both rise to stand and turn, only to find a giant red-eyed black dragon staring down at them.
The dragon let out a ferocious roar in their direction.
"Quick, get behind me," Makoto calls out to Chibiusa, and Chibiusa did as she was told.
"Jupiter Crystal Power, Make Up!" Makoto cried out, allowing her powers to transform her into her Super form.
"Protected by Jupiter, the planet of thunder, Guardian of Protection, Sailor Jupiter!" Makoto announced, "I'll make you feel so much regret!"
The dragon simply roared in return, seemingly unphased by her threats.
"No messing around then!" Makoto bellowed.
Jupiter extends her hand, the symbol of Jupiter appearing, and electricity springs from the palm of it. Spinning on her right foot, her lightning rod extends itself from her tiara. With light emitting from her lightening rod, she begins to spin faster, calling out "Jupiter Oak Evolution!" Leaf like bolts of electricity sail through the air towards the dragon, and seem to pass right through it.
"Huh?" Jupiter wonders aloud in surprise. The dragon began to flicker, as if it were an image.
"Hey! You fried my duel disk! Great, Kaiba's gonna be pisst. I was testing that!" a voice called in annoyance.
As the dragon disappeared entirely, a blonde, brown-eyed figure stepped closer.
As he took in her appearance his face changed from annoyance to curiosity "How'd you do that anyway?"
Unsure how to respond, Makoto looked on for a moment.
"What'd you do now, mutt," a harsher voice called and Makoto looked over to her left to find a figure striding towards them, tall and imposing with brunette hair and sharp blue eyes.
"It wasn't me!" the blonde protested, holding up his hands and shooting a glance at Makoto.
The taller man stopped and looked at her, "who are you?" he asked, staring her down.
