Alex and Kayla found an old house that was near the rest stop and decided to crash there for the night. There weren't any walkers inside, so they parked the car in the garage and locked the house down as tight as possible. Alex slid a couch in front of the door and Kayla put an old dresser in front of the backdoor. It was only one floor and a basement with an exit that led into the backyard so they kept the basement door open, but locked the outside door down below. They set up their blankets in the living room and Kayla volunteered to take first watch.

"You sure baby girl?" Alex asked. "I can do it."

"No, I'll do it. I'm not that tired anyway." Kayla lied. The truth was she was tired, in fact she was borderline exhausted, but she knew she wouldn't be able to sleep. Her dad was safe and so was Jonathan who fell asleep very quickly, but Daryl wasn't here. He wasn't here to hold her as she slept and kiss her good night or good morning. He wasn't there to wake her up when she was having a nightmare which happened on occasion and he wasn't here with her where he should be. He wasn't here.

Jonathan and Alex fell asleep and Kayla sat on the chair next to them with a blanket around her. She kept staring at her ring and out the window lost in thought. She wondered what Daryl was doing. She wondered where he was. He could be anywhere, but she knew he wouldn't go into unfamiliar territory. He was still in Georgia and wouldn't be more than about fifteen to twenty miles away from the prison. But that was still a lot of ground between her and him.

Kayla dropped her head in her knees. All she had to do was stay close to him during the attack and she could be with him. All she had to do was go to him when she saw him and she could be with him. She was grateful she had her dad and Jonathan was alright, but she missed Daryl. She missed his embrace and his kisses. She missed the way he looked at her and the way he tucked her hair behind her ear. She missed him. All she wanted was to be in his arms again and never leave.

A couple of hours must have passed when Alex woke up and relieved Kayla of her watch duty. Her eyes were heavy at this point so she didn't argue and nestled into the blankets next to Jonathan. She smoothed his hair down before kissing his temple and drifting off into a dreamless sleep.

OOOOO

The next morning, Kayla woke up later than she was used to and saw Alex looking over the map at the table while Jonathan ate one of the energy bars. She stood up and walked over to her father, ruffling Jonathan's hair before sitting down. "What are you looking for?" Kayla asked.

"There are a few places around here where Daryl and I went on runs with the others, but they are mainly just shops we raided for food and supplies." Alex explained. "There are a few places a little ways from here we scouted as places to reinforce in case something happened. Even if he isn't there, there are the chances some of the others are like Tyreese and Sasha or Bob and Glenn."

"How far are the places?"

"The nearest one is about a half an hour from here and the others are a good hour, hour and a half. I just hope we have enough gas."

"We just refilled the tank yesterday and have an extra can in the trunk. We should leave soon though. I don't wanna stay here much longer."

A lesson Kayla learned on the road before meeting up with the group on the highway outside was Atlanta was to be careful of how long you stayed at places like the one they were in. It was caution. You never knew who or what could be lurking around.

They left the house about forty-five minutes later and set out for the first location which Alex said was an old ranch house with a fence surrounding it and was pretty clean for it being the middle of the apocalypse. They reinforced a few parts of it like the doors and windows, but other than that they haven't done much when it came to stocking supplies since they were so limited.

They were about halfway to the ranch house when they encountered with dozens of walkers in it. Alex instantly slammed on the breaks and looked in terror with Kayla as they walked over and slammed on the glass. Jonathan jumped and looked at the decomposing fleshed face. "Back up." Kayla said. "Now!" Alex put the car in reverse and slammed on the gas, backing up down the road and driving down the road in reverse. The small herd of walkers followed after them and Alex finally sound a spot and turned the car around, driving back down the way they came.

"Why were there so many in one spot?" Jonathan asked.

"Sometimes they just get clumped together in one large group." Kayla explained.

"And they just stay in one spot?"

"No they move around. It's almost like they migrate."

Jonathan sat back in his seat and processed the new information.

One they were far enough, Alex stopped and looked at the map. "Alright there's a way around them to get to the house and other houses we found, but we'd have to make a huge detour. It'll be at least another day until we get there if that road is blocked by walkers."

Kayla put her head against the window and let out a breath. "Okay." she eventually said. "But let's stop at the train tracks on the way. See if there's any sign of him or the others. They'd use the tracks as a marker." Alex nodded and started the car again, driving their alternate route.

When they got to the one train stop, there was no sign of anyone, but there was something else. The map of the train tracks was now a sign. It read:

Terminus

Community for All

Those who arrive, survive

Kayla, Jonathan, and Alex looked at the sign in shock. A community for all. The sign showed a route to the camp, or community as they called it, that was connected to all the train tracks. "We should go." Alex said.

"What?" Kayla demanded.

"If Daryl and the others saw this, they'd go."

"How do you know this hasn't been here since the world ended? How do we know it's even there?"

"How do we know it is still there? And if the others saw this, they'd go to. You know that."

Kayla hesitated. It could be a start. It could be a safe place and a place where they could go. Maybe Daryl saw the sign. Maybe Rick and Carl did too. Maybe Glenn and Maggie did as well. They all could have seen the sign and are on their way there. It was worth a shot. It was a risk, but it was something.

A/N: Alright I need some assistance. I didn't plan this out very well and I don't know what to do from here. PM me some ideas or leave some in the reviews and I promise to acknowledge you in the chapters in the story in my author notes. I really need some help and I don't wanna end season four on a bad note, so any help/ideas will be greatly appreciated. Until I get some inspiration or ideas, I may not be updating as frequently because I am at a HUGE loss.
