Hey everyody, DFM23 here,
I'm sure you've all been waiting for the next chapter and I do apologize to disappoint you with a note. But what I have to say needs to be said… nor will it be easy to digest.
It's been almost six years since I started this story. I began in my third year of a four year degree program, working off a whim of an idea that slowly took on a shape and life of its own. I was alone back then, just a man and an idea.
I'd like to think I've come a long ways since then. I'm a better writer now than I was before, among other things. And to that end, I've been forced to analyze this story and re-evaluate some of the literary choices I've made. I do listen to reviews, I honestly do. And I know that I've made some plot choices that people have not been fond of which has led to, what is well and truly, a ruination of the story.
I've been working on salvaging it, developing plans and routes to bring things up to standard. That being said, my interest and desires of waned, thanks to a hurdle of my own making. And so, after some discussion with my close friends, confidants and allies, I have come to a conclusion that is by no means fun… but it does open another door.
Effective immediately, this edition of Rise of The Wraith has been discontinued.
I will justify my decision in three ways; the first of which being my growth as a writer. As I said before, I am not the same man I once was when I started this. I have more skills, a better understanding, and a better ability to tell the story I want to. I can see now that I missed out on a lot of early opportunities because of my lacking. That's nothing against me, just something that comes with time and experience.
Secondly, I am no longer alone in this endeavor. I am part of a community now, I have people in my corner who I can bounce ideas off of, who can submit their own great game-changing propositions, and will happily tell me if an idea is good or bad. With a network like this, I can plot a better story and accomplish new goals better than I ever could on my own.
And that brings me to my third point, which revolves entirely around you, my readers. Thank you for supporting me this far, thank you for your kind words, your helpful insights and thought-provoking critiques. Without you I would not be doing this. And as such, you all deserve better. You deserve to not waste your time on poor ideas and bad storytelling. I do this for you, because I believe you deserve the best a writer can present.
So to that end, The Wraith still lives. He is simply going to be… rewritten.
If you aren't following my profile, I suggest you do so and soon. It's your best way to be notified whenever I upload a new story. And trust me, you'll want to be along for the ride. If you enjoyed this, then I certainly believe you will enjoy "Rise of The Wraith - Rewritten Edition"
I will leave this story up for people to read at their leisure, in case some moment really got you and you want to go back and recall it. Otherwise, I will not be continuing this version and will be working on, what I hope will be, a better version of the story.
Until next time, see you next story!
With sincerity,
DFM23
