Well, I saw Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home, and I surely loved it. There are things about it that I enjoyed, and well, the less said the better since it's best-experienced watching.
But, because of the events in the movie, I want to write a sorta post No Way Home events for Peter Parker. I will be taking some inspiration from the comics, mainly Spider-Verse comics and giving a sorta AU to Raimi-verse Spider-Man. And I will give Andrew's Spider-Man a sorta realistic progression since, in the movie, it was confirmed that he stopped holding his punches and started killing his enemies.
I am really glad for No Way Home because it severed Peter's connection with everyone else in the MCU, and showed to all the 'Cinnamon roll Peter Parker' club that Peter can be an extremely violent person.
Well, let's start this.
Spiders.
They were a whole mixed bag for people. Some people kept them as pets while others had arachnophobia.
Nevertheless, spiders were fascinating. The ability to produce webs, stick to walls, have a plethora of different abilities that differentiated them. It wasn't surprising why some people were fascinated with them.
For Peter B. Parker, a teenager from New York, spiders became his whole alternate identity after the life-changing spider bite he had all those years ago.
He remembered it all with gusto. He used to be a lanky kid, needing glasses and all. However, after he got bitten, everything changed for him. He didn't need glasses, nor was he all lanky. One could say that he was lean and athletic.
However, that was not the end of the new gifts he had received. He had increased strength and could climb onto walls with ease. Just like a spider.
Though the only thing he could not do was generate his webs, which was remedied by the web-shooters. He made his costume and protected his neighbourhood as Spider-Man, protecting those who could not protect themselves, a message that was drilled into him by his late Uncle Ben. Then he was recruited by Tony Stark, the Iron Man, his idol, to fight Captain America. After that whole scenario, he told his best friend, Ned Leed, about his alter ego and fought the Vulture, the father of his then crush Liz Allen. At the end of it all, his Aunt May learned his identity as well.
Things escalated from there as he fought against an alien, Thanos, and was erased from existence by said alien. Thankfully, he was brought back when Hulk undid the snap and they all fought together, defeating the Mad Titan, at the cost of his mentor, Tony Stark.
He then went on a vacation to Europe with his class, where he met Mysterio, Quentin Beck, someone who claimed to be from another universe, hinting at a multiverse. However, it was all for nought as he was just an illusionist, wanting the control of the drones Tony Stark made. At the end of it all, he defeated him using his Peter Tingle and finally got into a relationship with Michelle Johnson, MJ.
However, his peaceful life was ruined just a week later when Quentin Beck revealed his identity to the world, along with the claims that Spider-Man had killed Mysterio, who the world viewed as a hero. Because of that, while he did suffer, so did his friends.
Ned and MJ weren't able to join any college, so Peter went to meet the only person he knew who could somehow fix this, Doctor Stephen Strange, also known as Doctor Strange, the Master of Mystic Arts. Sadly, it did not work, and he had to ask the Admission Counsellor to allow his friends to study there.
But something even more amazing happened. Because he had tampered with his spell several times, six in total, an actual Multiversal opening occurred and several people from other universes appeared. But to his dismay, the first person he fought was a villain, someone the other universe's Spider-Man had fought.
Doctor Otto Octavius was his name, using his extra mechanical limbs to battle Peter. He was even able to absorb some of his nanotechnology, which Peter used to defeat him. And with the help of Doctor Strange, he was able to capture the rest.
However, the Doctor wanted to send them back to their universes, which he stopped since he had learned moments before that they all died fighting Spider-Man. He swore to fix them and brought them to the place where he was staying for a while. Out of all of the 'Sinister Five', only Doctor Octopus was saved from the control of the arms and actively started to help him as well.
But that was a deadly mistake on his part, as this whole incident lead to the most major point in his life. Norman Osborne, who seemed to be subdued from the start, turned out to be under the control of the Green Goblin. And this lead to the death of his last remaining family member, his beloved Aunt May.
As she laid there, dying, she imparted the most crucial lesson of his life, something both his Uncle Ben and his Aunt May lived by: With great power, comes great responsibility.
He didn't know what to do afterwards, and he was tempted to send the people back to where they came from, send them to their deaths. He had gone to reflect on his life atop the Midtown High roof. It was his spot. But then, things got a bit in his favour when he met two other Spider-Men, the two who had faced the villains before.
He had nicknamed them Peter-2 and Peter-3 for the sake of simplicity. While all three of them were Peter Benjamin Parker, they all couldn't be any more different. Peter-3, from what he could tell, was a full-time Spider-Man, rarely giving time to being Peter Parker. He also learned that he had lost Gwen Stacy, someone Peter-3 explained to be his MJ. He also stopped pulling his punches, something which alarmed Peter. He knew how strong he was, knew how much he had to hold back to ensure that people weren't gravely injured by his attacks.
Peter-2, on the other hand, was already an adult and was married as well. It seemed like that he had a somewhat better life. And on top of that, he could generate his webs, which was extremely interesting.
Nevertheless, they were able to not only defeat the Sinister Five but also cure them of the ailments they had. And as a surprise, Doctor Otto Octavious turned up to help them at the end of the battle, something which Peter-2 appreciated.
At the end of it all, before going back to his universe, Peter-2 gave the two of them some sort of cross-multiversal ring which they could use to teleport to his universe. He would have questioned that a bit more, but he needed to say his goodbyes to Ned and MJ since the spell was now made to make everyone forget the existence of Peter Parker.
And that was where he was now. Sitting in the dingy apartment that he had gotten on rent, studying for the GEDs. Christmas was in a few days and he was seriously hungry. He would have gone for some takeout, but he needed to manage the money he had, something that was coming in at a low, but regular, rate as he was a freelancer for the Daily Bugle.
He chuckled a bit at that. Here he was, helping his biggest hater just so he could have food on the table. Looking at the end of the paper, he nodded as he jotted down more points. Normally, he would have gone out for some coffee, but MJ worked there, and he was afraid that if he went there, either he would accidentally tell her all that happened, unlocking her memories and putting her in danger once again, or he would somehow embarrass himself.
His mind went back to the sole coffee cup he had on the table. While it had been emptied a few days ago, he still held onto it (Though he wouldn't admit it, it was because he was too lazy to clean up). Right beside the cup was the ring.
He picked up the ring which, weirdly enough, could fit onto his finger. It was like Peter-2 knew he would meet him. Putting it on, the ring glowed a soft red colour, filling him with a sort of warmth that he was unfamiliar with.
He had no idea how to teleport, but he had a feeling that he knew it. He clutched it close to his chest and the scenery around him began to change. Looking around, he could see that he was atop a building. It sucked that it was cold here since he was just wearing his t-shirt and jeans, although he was blessed with the fact that he was wearing a hoodie. For some odd reason, he kept his web-shooters on hand at every time. Looking around, it seemed as if the whole transportation to the other universe worked.
The rooftop he was on seemed to be right by a busy street, as he could hear the beeping of car horns and the crunches of snow under their tires.
"Now all I got to do is find Peter-2" He mumbled to himself. It was easier said than done. He did not know the city and did not know where he could be. Though his best bet was to wait for some sort of supervillain attack since he knew that Peter-2 would come to save the town.
Speaking of saving people, from what he had learned about Peter-2's world, there was no Avengers, but were there any other heroes, or was Peter-2 alone?
Slipping on the hoodie, he hopped down to the street, away from the public eye, and tried to find a map so he could know if this New York was different from the one he was from. Finding a newspaper, he looked at one of the headlines for yesterday, "Mass Breakout stopped by the actions of Spider-Man and Daredevil!"
"What's this?" He mumbled as he read on. There was another hero here called Daredevil, so that meant that Peter-2 wasn't that alone, but there wasn't, thankfully, such a huge threat that the heroes of this world had to join forces.
Walking along the street, he looked around. From what he could gather, New York of Peter-2's universe was almost the same as the one in his, although he noticed the lack of articles and magazines calling Spider-Man a murdered, so it seemed as if the incident with Quentin didn't happen here.
Moving on and reading the newspaper at the same time, he learned of several other incidents that had happened, such as a group of robbers being found dead, or the fact that the Hulk was on the run from the US military. He knew that Bruce Banner, Hulk's civilian identity, became the green giant due to a gamma radiation accident, but he didn't know that he was a target for the military. Though he reasoned with himself, that might be due to him being pretty young when the whole Hulk incident happened.
It seemed that the night was going to be all peaceful due to the lack of any villains attacking the city. He had just found a bench to sit on at a local park when he heard a low rumbling. "What the?" He mumbled as he got ready for action. Suddenly, he jumped away from the bench, pulling along any civilian he could grab onto.
And it was in good time as a huge object ran through. It was greyish, humanoid and was causing a huge ruckus. Welp, he knew that Peter-2 was going to appear soon, but just to be safe, he went into an alley that was nearby, hoping to change into his Spider-Man costume, but he quickly remembered that he hadn't packed it. "Come on, why now of all times?" He berated himself silently. He usually wore the costume at all times, covered by his day-to-day clothes, but he hadn't had it now.
Using the hoodie, he sort of covered his face, as well as wearing a disposable face mask to hide his identity, he swang out to stop the beast. "Hey ugly!" He called out, which was a mistake, because now the creature had its undivided attention on him, solely.
"Another bug for me to squash?" The 'thing' asked no one in particular in a thick Russian accent. "No simple man can defeat the Rhino!" He yelled as he rushed towards Peter. Jumping out of the way, Peter spun another web as he attempted to restrain Rhino, but to no avail.
"Ha, another fan of the bug?" Rhino laughed as he tore through the webs. "Just another copy for Aleksi to squash!" He ran straight towards the teen, who promptly dodged the attack and climbed onto a wall, something which the Rhino crashed into.
"Man this dude is insane," Peter said to himself, hoping that Peter-2 would arrive soon. "Best bet would be to web him up completely." He said as he targeted Rhino's feet, hoping to stop him or slow him down enough that he wouldn't cause more damage to the surrounding.
After sticking the webs to the feet, Peter targetted the body of the Rhino, hoping that he could reduce the thrashing. After some time, the villain was trapped in a web cocoon. Feeling more confident, he walked up to the webbed Rhino, "I bet you feel like an idiot now?" He teased.
However, to his dismay, Rhino just smirked, "You might be a fan of the Bug, but you don't have his brains." He replied as he started to move around in the trap, shocking Peter. "AND YOU WILL SEE WHY YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE RHINO!" He yelled as he easily broke free from the cocoon, sending Peter flying back.
"Oof," Peter said as he hit his head on the wall. He took a glance at his web-shooters, which were busted due to the damage. "Damn it, not now." He groaned as he knew this was going to be a hell lotta harder now.
Rubbing his head, he saw Rhino rushing towards him. Bracing himself for impact, he closed his eyes, only to be met with silence. Peeping a bit, he was happy to see the familiar face, well, masked face, of Peter-2, the Spider-Man of this Universe. He was holding onto the Rhino, pushing back against the horn.
"GET OUT OF HERE, NOW!" Spider-Man yelled as he swung the Rhino away.
Peter nodded as he rushed off, escaping the area and helping a few people up. He jumped onto a wall and climbed up to the roof to see Peter-2, as Spider-Man, fight Rhino. Seeing him fight made it apparent that the two Peters had different strengths. He wasn't sure that he could have held onto Rhino that easily without the use of the nano-infused Iron Spider suit, but here was Peter-2, doing just that, but with his powers.
As soon as Spider-Man arrived, Rhino was easily defeated with a punch to his face, knocking him out. Using this moment, Spider-Man webbed him up, encasing him in a larger web cocoon, ensuring that Aleksi wouldn't escape the web once again. Hopping onto the roof Peter was at. "Good to see you again, Peter-1" Spider-Man, or rather Peter-2 said as he hugged the teen. "When did you get here?" He asked.
"Well, I got here a few minutes ago," He said, "And I was hoping to meet you."
"Well, you did." He chuckled. "Wait a sec," Peter-2 said as he looked through a pocket on his suit which wasn't that visible to the naked eye. Finding some cash, he gave it to the teen, as well as a paper that had an address. "Meet me there in half an hour. Need to do a routine patrol and meet with a friend."
With that, he 'thwipped' away, moving across the city skyline. Peter laughed at that as he hopped down, away from the public eye. He noticed that the address was that of a house.
Walking along the road, he had noticed a few minutes ago that the area belonged to relatively richer folks. Did this Peter somehow strike gold? He was deeply curious about it but he soon reached the location. It was a big house, well, bigger than where he and May used to live. It had three floors, along with a balcony.
He knocked on the door and after some time, a man opened it. He had brown hair and brown eyes. However, the most defining feature was that a part of his face was slightly burned. "Ah, hello?" The man asked.
"Oh uh, sorry, is this the house of Peter Parker?" Peter-1 asked, mentally adding the 2 in his mind as it felt weird asking.
"Yeah it is, who are you?" The man said, squinting his eyes a little, as well as getting ready to spring into action.
"Well, Peter sent me here." The teen replied.
The man relaxed as he laughed, "Damn that Peter, should have told me someone was going to visit today. At least the kids will focus some of their energy on you."
Wait, kids?
And in a flash, he was immediately swamped by two kids, girls. "Hello, mister, can you come to play with us?" One of the younger girls asked.
"Yeah, we asked Uncle Harry to play, but he's too busy taking care of Ben." The other added on. It was at this point Peter noticed that the two were twins, having red hair and baby blue eyes.
They bombarded him with more questions, which he wasn't able to answer at all until the man, Harry, stopped them, "April, May, I think you guys should lay down with the questions."
As the girls relented, Harry invited Peter into the house, where he could see was filled with pictures of the Parker Family. Several pictures of Peter-2, a redheaded woman whom he as told was MJ of this universe, along with some wedding pictures of the two. There also was a picture of an old man and a woman, whom he assumed to be this universe's version of Uncle Ben and Aunt May.
"Want anything?" Harry asked, "Coffee, tea, juice?"
"Some coffee would be nice," Peter replied as he sat down on the chair. "No cream or sugar."
"So you like them black?" Harry asked, "Heh, just like Peter." He quipped, making Peter smile. Maybe they weren't so different after all.
Soon the coffee was made, and the twins were watching some cartoons. "Uh, don't they need to sleep?" Peter asked.
"Well, they have the energy of their parents, so they'll only sleep when they have used up all of that excess energy." Harry replied, "I have told both Peter and Mary Jane that giving them chocolate after dinner makes babysitting harder on me." He looked at the teen sipping the coffee before smacking his forehead, "I didn't introduce myself, did I?"
"No, not really." Peter chuckled a bit.
"The name's Harry Osborne." Harry introduced, "Been Peter's friend since we were in kindergarten."
'Just like Ned.' Peter mused to himself.
"Always protected him like a bro from the bullies, like Flash, and he'd help me with my studies." Harry laughed, reminiscing the times gone by. He then looked at Peter, making the teen squirm a bit, "I never got your name, did I, Peter Parker?" The final word, his name, was uttered with a deliberate pause.
Peter stared in shock at the man. How did he know his name? "Surprised?" Harry asked the teen.
"Did.. did Peter tell you?" He asked.
Harry laughed a little, "Of course he did. He tells me everything since we are best buds and all."s He looked at Peter again, "Incidentally, this isn't my first time meeting another Peter Parker."
"Wait what?" Peter asked, "Have you met Peter-3?"
"Peter-3?" He asked.
"Uhh," Peter was confused as to how to explain how Peter-3 looked.
"I mean, Peter has brought over so many of his variants, it's a bit crazy," Harry said.
"Wait, he has met other Spider-Men?" Peter asked. Had Peter-2 known about the existence of the Multiverse far earlier than he?
"Yeah, he even brings some of them over for the Christmas party as well," Harry added. "I am sure he'll invite you as well."
Peter smiled at that. "That'd be nice." A few more moments passed by, with the twins watching television. He heard mentions of Spider-Man saving the city once again, and mentions of Spinneret as well.
Was this another hero?
"Well, they'll be here soon, so I get my suit ready," Harry added on, ignoring Peter's internal thoughts. However, this did snap Peter back to the real world.
"Wait, suit?" He asked.
"Yeah, Peter, MJ and me, we patrol the city at night," Harry added, shocking Peter that a version of MJ was a superhero, "We started doing it a couple of years ago when Peter battle some weird black goo." He explained.
Peter nodded, "Yeah, your Peter told me about that."
Harry nodded at the reply, "Yeah, the black goo was symbiotic, a bastard through and through. It had taken control of a photographer, Eddie Brock."
"What was the issue?"
"Well, he had every ability Peter had, but better. And on top of that, he seemed to somehow negate the Spider-sense."
Spider-sense? Maybe that was a better name than Peter Tingle. Scratch that, it was a better name, no maybe.
"After we defeated it and destroyed the black goo, sadly Eddie died along with it." Harry was downcast at that, "He knew that the goo was overpowering him, so he tried to control it enough for us to destroy it." He then looked at Peter, "Eddie may have acted as a villain that day, but he died as a hero."
After a few minutes of silence, which was regularly broken by the twins watching the television, "Anyways, after that, Peter and I did regular patrols, but things got extremely heated when we learned that the goo had created an offspring and bonded with a serial killer, Kassidy. Called himself Carnage. Shit got wild."
"What was he like?" Peter asked, curious.
"Well, imagine Spider-Man, but insane, more bloodthirsty, more powerful, can create tendrils and whatnot." Harry replied, "We weren't able to defeat him."
"Wait, so he's still active?" Peter asked, alarmed.
"Well, not really, we were getting our ass whooped when someone we did not expect came up to save the day."
"Spinneret, I assume."
Harry nodded, "Yeah, MJ came up at the nick of time, and it was pretty good since she was the perfect counter to Carnage."
"Wait, how so?" Wasn't Carnage a better Spider-Man, but evil?
"Well, when Peter wore the black goo, all those years ago, he left a small sample with his teacher, Dr Conners, and well MJ knew that. When she saw what was happening, she rushed to the class and bonded with the leftover symbiote."
"Wasn't that dangerous?"
"Well, yes it was, but the thing is that she had perfect control over the being, though the appearance was out of her control." Harry gave a small laugh, "And she came over and was a huge help to us in defeating Carnage. After that, she has been helping us patrol the city."
"That's cool." Peter said in awe, "So, apart from you guys, are there any other heroes?" He asked.
Harry mused a bit, "Well, there's the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, and, uh, the Hulk, I think. Might be more, but they haven't made themselves that known yet."
They heard the door open, and Peter knew that it was Peter-2 and maybe even MJ of this universe.
"Well, they're here, and I better be leaving," Harry said as he walked towards the exit.
After he left, he saw two people walk in. He knew who they were, Peter-2, the Peter Parker, Spider-Man of this universe, and a redhead, whom he knew was Mary Jane, the MJ of this universe.
"So this is the Peter you met in that other universe?" Mary Jane asked Peter-2, who nodded.
"Yeah," Peter-2 replied, looking at him with a smile. "I wasn't able to welcome you properly, so uh, welcome to my humble abode."
Peter laughed. He was already feeling as if he was home.
So, yeah. I loved how Spider-Man: No Way Home finally handled Spider-Man. He is back to his basics and with no connection to the rest of the MCU heroes, he can be more comic accurate Peter Parker than he has been shown.
I have plans for the three Peters, with all of them having a sorta arcs, well, Peter-1 and Peter-3 more so than Peter-2 since he has his life together.
I am also going to introduce versions of Spider-Men from different universes.
