" 'It's just a tale' they told me

But I will not let it drag me

From my happy end"

Epilogue

Two Years Later. . . .

The Wellspring Mill Library was filled with carefully sorted books. Most were old, but a small few were rather new. The Library itself had been very nicely restored so as to keep the books within safe and offer a comfortable place for anyone to sit and read.

In a backroom of the Wellspring Mill Library sat several Moki at long tables, all of them busy with quills as they copied words down into some blank books. The evening's setting Sun shone through a window, casting orange light into the room.

Tokk looked up from some scrolls he was studying, and then took a peek out of the window. He nodded and said to the Moki, "Alright then, I believe we can call it quits for today."

The Moki all put their quills down and got up from the chairs to retrieve their salaries, all except for one. Mokhael continued to scratch at the paper with his ink covered quill, engrossed with what he was writing. By the time he finished, the other Moki had all already left. He placed down a final period with a flourish and smiled.

"Finished!" he declared.

Tokk nodded as he walked towards the Moki. The bird said happily, "Excellent, friend! That's another book you've finished! You most certainly are the best scribe here. You've earned every bit of this Spirit Light, and a bit extra too!"

Tokk handed Mokhael his Spirit Light, which he happily accepted. "Thank you, sir. Today was a good day's work, for sure. Home I go, now!"

Tokk held up a wing and said, "Hold a moment. There's something else I would also like you to have. . ."

Mokhael dashed back into Wellspring Glades, passing by Opher's evening self-defense class. Mokis wielding staves all imitated Opher's simple moves, all letting out sharp cries to focus on each heavy swing or spin of the staff. From where he ran he could see Tuley's farm up on the terraces above, with a few Moki assisting the gopher in tending it. He then arrived at his home and casually opened the door. The door had no lock, there was no need for one in Wellspring Glades.

When Mokhael entered the home, his mate was chatting with Ming, a new friend she had made shortly after they were freed from the stone.

Mokayla turned to greet her mate with a smile, quickly moving over to share a sweet nuzzle with Mokhael.

Mokhael moved his tail around her and said, "Today was a good day. . . I have something special for Molly tonight. Is she still out playing with her friends?"

Mokayla smiled and said, "You know how much they love those spring plants!"

Ming tilted her head towards the couple. She adjusted her trusty satchel she wore on her shoulder and said, "Hmm. . . You've got a bag too? Are you copying me?"

Indeed, Mokhael had a bag of his own on his shoulder.

Mokhael smiled and shook his head, and replied, "Oh, Tokk gave me this for doing such a good job. But it isn't really the bag that's important. Oh no, it is what is inside the bag! Behold!"

Mokhael opened the bag and took out a pair of lovingly bound, new books. He held them up with pride and said, "These are the very first of those very important books I've been making copies of! These stories need to be told and retold and remembered forever! After what the Spirit did for us, preserving these events in books is the very least I could do!"

"Well, I'm amazed that Motay was able to record every detail of the Spirit's journey so well," Mokayla said with high regard for the chameleon, "The second book wouldn't be possible without him."

"And the first wouldn't be possible if it weren't for Naru's and Gumo's good memory of what the Spirit had told them about the happenings in Nibel," Mokhael added, "We are so lucky to have the full picture."

Ming nodded enthusiastically and said, "Oh, yes! We are lucky, and those books ARE very important! If we didn't record the things that have happened for the future. . . Why, who knows what could be forgotten! And then a Spirit with one eye in the future might think all Lightless creatures are evil and go on a genocidal rampage! Destroying everything we've all worked so hard to build!"

Mokhael and Mokayla stared at Ming awkwardly for a moment. Then Mokayla sighed and shook her head. She chuckled a bit, and said, "Oh, Ming. You are so unique."

Ming clasped her paws together and smiled, "Aww! Thank you! I mean, I was Ori and I were best friends for a reason, after all! Hey. . .do you think Motay and Tokk would mind if I made illustrations for the books?"

Mokhael gave Ming a nod and said, "There would be no harm in asking, and I'm sure they would happily accept your art." He then looked down at the books in his paws and admired the covers and the titles embroidered on them.

Ori and the Blind Forest

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

"These will be the greatest bedtime stories Molly will ever hear," he said delightedly.

The End

Author's Notes: I decided to put a few easter eggs in the Epilogue. Ming is a character created by ShupaMikey on DeviantArt. This Moki has been featured in plenty of his art, all of which is GORGEOUS! The man is a master artist! He even has an ongoing comic where Ming and Ori go on an adventure. Go ahead and check it out.

Also, the non-sequitur reference Ming drops randomly is actually a reference to the story The Guardians of Niwen by Delta Blade. It's a very well written, emotional, action packed, and rather violent story. It's not a headcannon I enjoy, but as a stand alone AU story, it really is awesome with good characters and emotional moments. Check it out as well.

Also, I felt Hopes and Dreams from Undertale, as well as the many lyrical adaptations it has gotten, fits the tone of this story and the ending of Will of the Wisps rather well. I could easily see Hopes and Dreams and SAVE the World (Cloudjumper's orchestral versions to be precise) working well during the final boss fight against Shriek. I wonder if anyone could mod that in somehow?
