The memories of the previous day stood firmly in Lucy's mind. The first thing she remembers was when she felt the arms of a stranger wrapping around her body, a teary voice sounding so ecstatic at her waking up. She, of course, got extremely uncomfortable with the affection from this teary eyed stranger, only for another one to try and get a hug from her, which Lucy flatly declined.

'Whose Lucy?' was all she remembers saying to the two of them.

It's been a couple days since then, but I can't shake that memory out if my head. That could be a good thing, but I still don't remember anything about myself before that. After all these tests and questions, I'm starting to get sick of being here, especially that schlock they serve they call 'food'. At least the pudding tastes good...

*Bzzzz*

There's that noise again. I've been hearing it nonstop, and it's starting to drive me crazy! What is that?!

"Lynn?"

Lucy grabbed the attention of the sensitive man, whose still not used to her calling him by his first name.

"Y-Yes honey- I-I mean, Lucy?"

At least he remembers that I don't like him calling me that.

"What is that buzzing sound I keep hearing? It's starting to get under my skin."

He pondered what I meant for a second, before realizing what I'm talking about. He pulled out some kind of small tablet thing out of a black bag with wings that's been here since I woke up, and handed it to me. It feels... Familiar.

"It's your uh, cell phone. The sound you've been hearing are text messages from your family, they're probably asking a lot of questions, but I wouldn't worry about them right now."

Cell phone... Hm. I thought phones had wires on them, and antennas. Maybe I hit my head harder than I think, he's talking about it like it's not new technology.

"It really picked up when your mom texted everyone saying you're awake. Lynn Jr told me she's been texting you every day since you got-"

There's that name again, he keeps saying it like I know who that is.

"I-I mean, since the accident."

"Who is she?"

That question bothered Lynn to no end, it was like a crooked dagger to the heart!

"She's well... She's your older sister. You both sleep in the same room together, so she's been really concerned about you ever since you got here."

Hm. An older sister... Named after Lynn. Well, that's a good explanation as to why he's Lynn Senior, and not just Lynn. Why aren't I getting these things quicker?! Sigh...

...Did I just say the word 'Sigh' in my head?

"You're probably gonna meet her first when we get home later, she got really excited when she heard the news."

Well, I guess she's someone I have to watch out for, she's probably gonna try to hug me too. Something tells me my family is full of huggers.

"Dr. Mark says he's doing a final check on your files, and then we'll have to come back every two weeks to check on your progress until you can walk again."

"Sounds like a real good time to me."

I couldn't help but put some sass in that statement. This place is starting to drive me crazy, it's all so... Clean and sanitized, and boring. I just wish that I had something to do other than watch this stupid show about finding love on a boat.

"Aw, cheer up Lucy, it won't be that bad. You'll get better in no time... Actually, that reminds me."

Lynn reaches into the black bag again, before pulling out a black dress, black flats, and black and white striped stockings and sleeves.

"We got to get you back into your every day clothing. Don't worry about your unmentionables. Your mother- Rita, put them in the bathroom already. I'll be waiting out here while you change, just let me know if you need any help."

Yeesh, that's what I wear normally? I didn't take myself to be emo, but I guess I don't know myself anymore.

Lucy slowly and carefully got out of bed, grabbing her garments and struggling towards the bathroom. She almost fell over, but Lynn caught her before she did, earning a warm smile from her. She stepped in, and locked the door, beginning the process of changing. As she slipped out of her gown, she couldn't help but notice her body in the mirror.

Wow... That truck got me good... I'm covered in bruises, and bandages. No wonder my Rita and Lynn were crying so much, I look like I shouldn't be alive. Ack, there's the stinging again...

Lucy proceeded, putting on her underwear first, and then her dress.

It feels so... Foreign to me, but... comforting at the same time. It's like I just embraced a stranger but they gave the warmest hugs...

She grabbed her one of her sleeves and slipped it on.

This are really warm... I definitely remember this feeling... Leni really knows how to make things warm... It's a shame I can't put both sleeves on though.

Wait... Leni? She must be a friend of mine... I'll ask later.

Sitting on the toilet and grabbing her left stocking and shoe, she put them both on quickly, before standing up, trying to get more comfortable in them.

I feel uneven... These shoes must add an inch to my height. The socks feel nice though...

Lucy grabs the remaining articles of clothing, and comes out of the bathroom. Lynn quickly sits up, and gets teary eye'd from the sight.

"I-It's like my little girl never left me...!"

He seems pretty happy, so I give him a little smile, it feels nice to be appreciated even if it's from someone you can't remember. But I think he got the wrong message, he tried hugging me again but stopped himself, rubbing the back of his neck.

"S-Sorry Lucy..."

"It's okay Lynn, I understand you're going through a tough time too."

While I can't imagine what he could be feeling, I know he must be suffering more than he thinks I am. Losing a loved one and having them still be alive must be a painful experience, one greater than if they just died.

"T-That's my girl... Always under- understanding!"

Lynn put his hands up to cover his face, and started bawling again.

This memory stuff seems like it's gonna be harder than anticipated. I hope the rest of my siblings don't cry as much as he does.

The door started creaking open, revealing Dr. Mark and Rita.

"Ah Lucy, good to see you up and about. How's your leg feeling?"

This feels like a loaded question.

"Like there's tiny needles poking at my insides."

"Well, maybe this could help you feel better for the time being."

Rita interjected, giving Lucy two crutches, before turning her attention to Lynn, comforting him.

What the hell are these things? They look like pieces of the bed.

"You put them under your shoulders and walk with them, it's just a temporary replacement for your leg. I need you keep pressure off of it until we can take it off completely, and elevate it any time you're sitting down. Can you do that for me?"

I guess I have no other choice, doesn't seem too hard though.

Lucy nods her head.

"Atta girl! You're a strong kid Lucy, just between you and me..."

Dr. Mark got on one knee, placing a hand on Lucy's shoulder, and put on a serious face.

"You're really lucky to be alive right now... I've seen bigger people pass on from smaller things, but you... You're a trooper. Don't forget that."

Holy crap... That's... That's really heavy. I know he's trying to be encouraging but... Wow. Seems a bit inappropriate but... It doesn't bother me as much as it probably should.

"Jeez doc... that's really heavy, but... thanks for treating me?"

"Ah, ah, ah, treatments not over just yet."

He reached into his pocket and handed me a bottle.

"These are painkillers, don't worry your parents approved of you being put on them. Be sure to only take them when you experience pain for more than 5 minutes. Don't take more than two within 4 hours, or you're gonna be hurting a lot more than whatever pain you're feeling. Got it?"

Sounds simple enough.

Lucy nods, making Dr. Mark put on another smile.

"Alrighty then, I guess our business is nearly done here."

Dr. Mark stood up, and walked into the hallway. He's signaling me to follow him, I guess he wants me to try walking with the supports.

Lucy follows the instructions, and places them under her shoulders, her broken leg instinctively lifts up slightly off the ground as if her body has experienced this before. She slowly but surely starts walking forward, crutches in her hands. It takes her a couple of minutes to get the rhythm down, but she gets it done nonetheless.

This isn't as bad as I thought it would be... I figured I would be kissing the floor by now, but I'm not... maybe I broke something before. At least Lynn and Rita are happy to see me walking around.

Lucy looked back at the entrance of her room, seeing her parents standing in the doorway. They both have smiles plastered on their faces, it's so contagious Lucy can't help but smile back.

"Wonderful progress Lucy, but that's enough for now. Wouldn't want to wear you out before you get to go home, would we?"

He's right, something tells me I'm gonna be dealing with a lot once I step through the door of my house... I don't know what to expect, neither Lynn nor Rita have told me anything about my other siblings, all I know is that one is named Lynn Jr. Are they avoiding telling me for some reason?

Dr. Mark waves over a nurse, who approaches Lucy from behind. The nurse has his hands wrapped around the grips of a wheelchair, which Dr. Mark signals for Lucy to sit on. Lucy obliges and sits in the chair, handing Rita her crutches.

"This is goodbye for now, I'll be seeing you in two weeks, remember!"

Dr. Mark soon scurried away, leaving Lucy with her parents and the nurse.

"Ms. Loud, are you ready to go?"

Loud... That must be my last name... what an unusual title.

Lucy nodded her head, which the nurse took as a cue to start wheeling her out. Her parents quickly walk on both sides of Lucy, making sure they don't stray far from their daughter. Rita and Lynn have worried looks on their faces, concerned with how to deal with their new issue. How is she gonna go back to school? What about her siblings, how are they gonna treat her now? Are they gonna take advantage of her, or treat her with kindness? How are they gonna get her memory back? In the those TV shows they just have to remind them of the life they used to have, or showing them photo albums of their adventures... but would that work for Lucy?

Rita reaches over and grabs the bag that Lynn is carrying, digging in it for a bit, before pulling out the poetry book that Lucy was trying to get to two days ago. She hands the bag back to Lynn and speaks up.

"Hey, Lucy?"

Lucy turns her head to face the blonde woman who called her.

"Yes, Rita?"

She's holding my book...

"Here you go dear... we probably should've given this to you when you woke up. I didn't want to overwhelm you with so much new information at once, but now I have a feeling it will help jog your memory a bit."

Rita hands the book to Lucy, which she takes and holds it close to her body, hugging it.

I missed this. I don't even know what's inside but I definitely missed this. Maybe she's right, there has to be traces of me throughout this book, I just need to read it and I'll know who I am.

Lucy rests the book on her lap, opening it up to the first page.

This is old... Doc said I'm 12 yesterday, so the date at the top of the page implies I was 7 when I wrote this... I'll have to look at this later, now's probably not the time to try and remember things.

Lucy lifts her head and looks around the hospital halls, taking in the high emotions of everyone around her.

From grief, to relief, the faces of the patrons showed it all.
As I sat there, passing by the rooms traveling down the hall,

I saw a little boy, trying to put on his best.
He's trying to make his mother feel good, in her final moments of breath.

What a depressing place.

Lucy laid her head down, hoping for the best of that little boy. When she opened her eyes, she was already outside on the curb, waiting with Rita.

"Where is Lynn?"

"He went to get Vanzilla, since he doesn't want you walking across the parking lot in your state. The nurse said he'd be willing to wheel you over to it, but Lynn insisted."

Hm. Vanzilla, an affectionate nickname for the family car? I hope its as big as they seem to claim it is. Oh, I think I see it now actually.

"Is that Vanzilla?"

"Yep, it sure is, its been in the family since before you were born."

"It looks older than that..."

"Well... technically, its been in our family since before your father was born."

"Why don't we just get a new one?"

"Try asking Lynn and gage his reaction to it."

I'm not gonna do that, if he cried that much just from being next to me in the hospital, I'm not even gonna touch that subject.

Lynn pulls up to the curb, parking right in front of Lucy and Rita.

"Alright you two, hop in!"

"Actually Lynn, I need to return the chair so could you help Lucy get in?"

"Sure thing hun."

Lynn steps out of the van, walking over to Lucy and offering a hand to help her up.

Groan. I'm not in the mood to limp my way over to the van, even if its 4 feet in front of me.

"Excuse me, Lynn, could you carry me to my seat? My leg kinda hurts right now."

"Oh, uhh... sure thing kiddo, just let me know if I hurt you, alright?"

Lynn is a gentle man, if his incessant crying wasn't proof enough. Maybe they're both just being nice 'cause i can't remember them, but it makes me feel warm inside. I hope I'm not too heavy for him.

Lucy grabs her bag and poetry book, as Lynn reaches down and wraps his arms around her, picking her up bridal style. Rita opens the door of Vanzilla, and starts wheeling the chair back inside. Lynn walks over and gently places Lucy in the middle seat. She places her stuff on the side of her, while Lynn helps buckle her to her seat.

"How you feeling kid?"

"I feel better... thanks for that Lynn-uh, I mean, thanks dad."

I should start referring them by their real titles... they've been really nice to me this whole time, and it keeps bothing them that I call them by their first names.

Oh god he's starting to cry again.

W-wait don't hug me!

Lynn was too blinded by Lucy suddenly referring to him as 'Dad', he wasn't able to stop himself from wrapping his arms around his daughter, and hugging the daylights outta her, wailing.

"L-Lynn! I c-can't breathe!"

Lucy gingerly tapped his back, trying to get him off of her, to no avail.

This is where I die. Not getting hit by a 7 ton truck, but getting hugged to the point of suffocation, by my own father no less.

Luckily for Lucy, Rita came back outside before she could be brought back into the hospital as a patient. As soon as she could hear a grown man's crying, Rita quickly ran over, and pried Lynn off her suffering daughter. She guides him over to the passenger seat, and locks him in his seat, coming back to Lucy's side quickly.

"Lucy! Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"

Once again, Rita comes to my aid... hm. It feels like she's been asking that question a lot.

"I'm fine Ri-uh, Mom."

Lucy flinches hard, preparing herself to get choked to death from some affection, but it never comes. Instead, when she looks over to her mom, she just sees a big grin plastered on her face, with a couple tears streaming down her cheeks.

"T-thank you, dear..."

Rita ruffles Lucy's hair and gets in the driver's seat, preparing their journey home, giving Lucy some much needed scenery to reflect to.

That was nice. I should try to make things easier for them to deal with, along with my sister. She sounds like she's been worried about me... maybe now I could check the messages she's been sending me.

Lucy reaches over to the black bag, and pulls out her cellphone, trying to remember how to use it. She clicks the button on the side, and starts remembering vaguely how its used. She navigates to the messaging app, and is suprised to see all the messages she's recieved.

Wow... all of my friends are blonde and brunette, they must be worried about me too... but I'll have to respond to them later, my sister is more important right now. Holy... '99+ messages'! They weren't kidding when they said she texted me every day. Lets see what she said...

'Dude! Is it true you woke up?! We have so much to catch up on! Hmu!'

Lynn - 2 Days ago

'K, mom told me you aren't checking your pohne? We'll, I should've expected that, you need to do your checkups and stuff!'
'*phone'
'DW, we'll catch up when you get back'

Lynn - 1 Day ago

'OMG dude, I forgot to text you when it happened, but they gave me a schoolar ship!'
'Hope you won't miss me too hard, but I'll make sure to visit!'

Lynn - 18 Hours ago

'Nvm, it was just one of Luan's stupid pranks... I stg, one day I'm gonna kill her!'

Lynn - 17 Hours ago

'Idek if I wanna leave'
'I think I'd miss you guys too much...'
'I would feel guilty if I left you behind.'

Lynn - 10 Hours ago

'WHEN R U COMING HOME!'
'I CAN'T WAIT!'

Lynn - 4 Hours ago

She's really insistent, and those are just from two days ago... she must really miss me. I kinda feel bad... she doesn't know what happened to me. What if she won't like me anymore, or I don't like her?! She's presenting herself in a very intense way, more intense than Lynn's sobbing. Sigh, I guess I just have to wait and see, but I'll at least say something for her.

'I'm coming home now.'
Lucy - Just Now

It won't take long for her to respond, but I don't feel like tapping my fingers against a screen when I'll be seeing her soon anyways. The trees around here look nice...

Lucy zones out for the rest of the ride, imagining where she lives, and who else live's with her. She knows she has a sister, but not what the rest of her siblings are, or even how many there are. It doesn't matter what she thinks anyways, the van seems to already be pulling up to the house of Loud.

"This is our home?"

"Always has been!"

Lucy looks around the front yard, before looking back at Rita.

"Was there a storm recently?"

Rita let out a light chuckle.

"No dear, it just always looks like this."

What a mess, I hope my room isn't as messy as this is.

Lynn and Rita get out of the car, opening the door to help Lucy to the house. Rita grabs her bag and crutches while Lynn helps Lucy out the car. Rita walks over and puts them under Lucy's shoulders, making sure she has a good hold on them before letting her go.

"Oh uh, Lucy..."

Lynn put his hand on her shoulder before he opened the front door.

"Your family's is uhh... a little intense, you should probably stand behind us"

Intense? What are they gonna do, stab me? Ah, whatever... They know more than I do, so I should probably listen.

Lucy nods her head and gets behind Rita. Lynn takes a deep breath before slowly opening the front door, peaking his head in slowly. All he sees is Lynn Jr sitting on the couch, sleeping. She's holding her phone, still on the messaging app. Lynn leaned over and whispered into Rita's ear.

"Lets try to get Lucy to her room, she might have an easier time managing them behind a closed door!"

Rita nodded, and started to carefully walk through the house, trying to make as little noise as possible.

What are they doing...

"Uhh, guys-"

Lynn and Rita freeze, they never told Lucy to be quiet! But its too late, as they turn back to face Lucy, they see a certain brunette ponytail peaking from behind the sofa.

"Oh no."

"LUCY'S HOME!"

Lynn Jr. screamed as loud as she could, trying to get the attention of the rest of her family, and launches herself off the couch, intent on giving Lucy a very violent tackle hug. Rita and Lynn Sr. think quickly though, and Lucy gets pulled out of the way by Rita, only for Lynn Sr. to get tackled instead.

"L.J! What are you doing?"

"Uh, trying to hug my little sis, what are you doing?"

"Keeping you from putting her back in the hospital!"

Lynn looks over at Lucy, only now realizing she has two casts on.

"O-oops, sorry pops."

Just as Lynn is about to get up, a stampede of footsteps is heard from upstairs, rushing down the stairs to see their sister. Lucy gets scared and hides behind Rita, who is slowly backing the two of them into a corner.

"Lucy! I'm so glad you're back!"

"Woah, Lucy you gotta let me sign that cast, or at least get a taste of it!"

"Why didn't you respond to our texts? Were you trying to cast us away! Get it? I hope you found that joke very humerus!"

"Lucyyy! You need to control that stupid bat of yours, he keeps biting my dresses!"

"Oh Em Gosh! Lucy, why didn't you tell me you needed new clothes, youre missing half of your outfit!"

"You look gnarly Luce, but I'm glad you survived your run-in with the devil!"

"Elder sibling, if you come with me to my living quarters, I'll have those orthopedic casts off of your person in no time!"

"We were so worried for you, I literally drove all night when mom told us you were awake!"

"Big sis LuLu, I have to show you the thingies I made for you!"

Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, how are this many people living in one house?! This is terrifying, they're like rabbid animals! So much is happening right now I can't even think!

Rita can feel Lucy shaking behind her, this is way too much stress for her right now! A fire lit in her eyes as her maternal instincts kicked in, and took a deep breath before shutting everyone up.

"KIDS!"

Every member of the Loud Family currently present stopped in their tracks. Rita very rarely yelled at any of them, but for her to yell at all of them caught their attention immediately. Lucy peaks her head from behind Rita, shaken up by how intense her family is, she didn't prepare herself for any of this- she COULDN'T have prepared herself for this.

10 siblings?! Thats insane!

"We need to have a Family Meeting."
