Growing Up A Loud: Take Me Out of the Ball Game

Deuces Wild

Welcome my beloved readers to the second story of the One Magical Weekend Reboot, Growing Up A Loud. We all know Lynn's rule, no going number two until we are number one. Well, as you may have gathered from the original OMW, the sisters' Karma Houdini cards are revoked.

In this story, we shall see how Lynn's insane superstitions harm those around her. Also, we'll get a taste of Lincoln's new life with his Little Roomie, if I may give That Engineer a shout-out.

Now a response to some of the final reviews of Snow Way.

364wii: Indeed, I almost abandoned the project, but I believe a true Artist keeps their work to their fans no matter what.

DreadedCandiru2: Karma is in effect and the Gods may forgive sins, but their stupidity requires a response!

Of note, you'll see a reference to the episode Sitting Bull just here the events didn't go as we saw on the show.

Well fans, on with the show!

"I fold…" Lana said shaking her head and tossing her cards onto the floor in the middle of the circle of siblings. It had been three weeks since Lincoln had moved in with Lily for a second time, to save on time and effort the boy had allowed his second youngest sister Lisa to have his old bed. Lily, his youngest sister, and new roommate had thanks to Lisa's out-of-control science experiments grown and matured overnight. However, due to being used as a guinea pig one time too many, she'd begged her brother to move in. Too old and mature for a baby bed the littlest Loud now occupied the rogue genius' former bed, Lily's crib that had served all eleven siblings was now in storage. Waiting for when it would be needed again, most likely when Lori and Bobby had their first child.

When Lincoln was told he'd be getting a new bed and could pick it out he'd started doing research only for Lynn to go to Lori and give an answer on his behalf, revenge for the trouble she'd gotten into following his vacation. The bed was so hard it hurt Lincoln's back to sleep on it, the steel frame was uncomfortable and it looked like it belonged in a military barracks.

Thankfully Lincoln didn't have to sleep on it, thanks to Lily, Lincoln suspected it was more for his sake that, after he'd rolled out of bed with a backache that had him in tears, she started asking him to sleep with her due to nightmares. Since that night she always had a reason she wanted him with her.

Lincoln looked around him, this was the third week they'd played cards, the games started at Lola's suggestion a way to get to know Lily. Instead of cash, the siblings played for points. Those points could then be "spent" on different favors between the younger siblings, such as chores, candy, or well anything that was agreed to. At current Lily was racking in the chips, in total she had somehow gotten fifty thousand points enough for her not to lift a finger all summer when it came around and be spoiled rotten.

"How does she do it?" Lola asked sipping her juice.

"It's a talent I have," Lily laid back sipping her own juice. The black sunglasses almost made her look intimidating if she wasn't dressed in an MLP T-shirt featuring Rarity, her favorite Pony, and a lavender skirt, white socks, and pink slippers, her black shoes were carefully tucked into a cubby hole by her bed, Lily's side of the room had to be the cleanest spot in the whole house.

"I'm convinced she's made a deal with a demon," Lucy muttered, while one could never be sure it looked like Lucy was giving Lily a death glare, "it's the only way to explain her luck."

"Mr. Asmodeus is a wonderful tea time companion," Lily replied, lowering her sunglasses and meeting Lucy's glare with a smirk.

"WHAT!?" Lucy gasped.

"What?" Lily replied grinning at Lucy then she crawled over leaned up and kissed her nose, "I have to have SOME fun at your experience, I thought it be fun to turn your spooky ways back on you."

"Sigh," Lucy said, "now Lily has become, what Luna would call, a cheeky little monkey."

"Yeah and she's a Soccer Hooligan in the making," Lily replied, "anyway, Lola are we still on for tea this afternoon?" Out of all the sisters Lily had bonded with Lola the most, it made sense to Lincoln, the proper lady, and the princess. For a bit, he thought it would be Luna due to the British influence, but it seemed the Rocker's more low-class British taste and Lily's high-class ones had started to rub each other the wrong way.

"Need me to be there?" Lincoln asked, rolling his shoulders, they were stiff from cleaning the gutters this morning.

"No thank you Linky," Lola smiled at him, "unless you wanna be a guest three o'clock sharp lady and gent, does anyone else want to come?"

"Oh please join!" Lily gave a small hop and clapped her hands together with excitement.

"I just might," Lincoln ruffled Lily's hair getting a giggle from her.

"No thank you," Lana said, "after this I got an appointment at the dump, new stuff coming in," Lana rubbed her hands together greedily, "I can't wait!"

"Just… Wash off before bed," Lola said already gagging, "I don't want to smell garbage while I sleep."

"Well, I gotta put up with that lavender stuff of yours!" Lana replied hopping to her feet and glaring at her.

"Ladies," Lincoln said in his best big brother voice, standing and getting between them. "I will toss you both out if you start a fight in here."

Lily sniffed, "I know Lana can be a ruffian at times Lola, but there is no reason to lower yourself to her level."

"Geez," Lana said her nostrils flaring in a huff, "why'd you have to go and become so frilly Lily?"

"My machine…" Lisa said focusing on the ground in front of her, "it… Downloaded a personality based on Upper-class British mannerisms into Lily's mind, effectively turning her into what we see now." Lisa didn't know why she'd been invited to these games, ever since the incident she was being given the cold shoulder by the older girls. She was shocked Lincoln had invited her to these gathers, the other younger sisters didn't say much to her, and Lisa was sure Lily would like nothing better than to bite her throat out, probably with pinky extended.

Everyone was looking at Lisa now, the genius sighed, "well I won't be doing that again…"

Everyone was skeptical, but maybe, just maybe she'd turned over a new leaf, that said everyone gathered doubted it.

A hush fell over the siblings, Lana got to her feet and stretched, "anyway, I'm off," she took down what points she'd earned this game, ten, and hurried off.

"I too must leave," Lisa who somehow finished with a score of negative fifty got up and hurried out.

"I need a nap before Lynn's game, Lily I hope we are still on for tea afterwords," Lola, final score of 120, stood and hugged Lily and Lincoln, "you should come Linky," and glided out.

"Well let's get to cleaning," Lily said and Lincoln nodded, gathering up the snacks left behind, and drink cups, returning the chips and cards to the poker set and placing it under Lily's bed till the next game. Twenty minutes later the room was so clean you'd never believe a toddler girl and tween boy called it theirs.

"Brother Dearest," Lily said sitting next to Lincoln and fixing him with her best puppy dog eyes, "I have a favor to ask."

"Like I can say no to those eyes?" Lincoln grinned down at her, "what's on your mind?"

"About your comics… And the Japanese ones, I think you call the magma?" Lily tilted her head.

Lincoln chuckled before replying, "manga sweetie, magma is hot liquids in the Earth that make lava."

Lily nodded then grinned, "you are so smart big brother!"

Lincoln blushed at the compliment, "well I AM almost a full honor student, would have made it into the honor society until that mess where I needed a tutor… Along with the times the girls messed up my school work. Anyway, what about my comics and manga?"

"I'd like to try reading some of them," Lily said, "the reading material I have is… Rather lacking, to say the least.

Lincoln nodded, given her recent uplifting 'Clifford,' and 'The Bernstein Bears,' were probably both below her reading level, "let me take a look and see." After a big Lincoln walked over messing a few volumes into Lily's hands.

"Cardcaptor Sakura, Pokemon, One Piece, Negima, Here is Greenwood," Lily read off the manga before looking at the comics, "Sonic the Hedgehog, Ace Savvy, Muscle Fish…."

"Give those a try and we can go from there finding what you like or don't," Lincoln said getting a smile and nod from Lily as she placed the books on an empty shelf.

"HOLD IT!" Lynn stomped into the room, glaring at the bookshelf, "Hey Luna, come look at this, just like I told ya would happen." Luna appeared right beside her sister folding her arms and giving Lincoln a disapproving look, "not cool dude," she said.

"Excuse me," Lily said, crossing her own arms and glaring back at the older girls. "but what exactly is the problem?"

"You know," Lincoln stood beside Lily meeting Lynn's glare even if he is throat suddenly felt dry and tight, he memories of recent events flooding his mind, "I'd like to know URK!" Lynn had Lincoln sized by the collar.

"You know," Lily sighed pinching her nose, "you are entirely too comfortable with violence Lynn… So can we get an answer please?"

"Oh Brah knows what's wrong," Luna said, "he just wants to play coy."

"Well how about telling me!?" Luan was behind them with Leni at her side.

"Lynn," Leni said sweetly, "didn't we talk about this?" She pulled Lynn off of Lincoln like she was just a baseball cap, "now what's going on?"

"Lincoln's using Lily's empty shelves to store his stuff," Lynn said, "making it HIS room and not sharing."

"That true Lincoln? Are you being Shelf-ish?" Luan laughed at her pun, "get it? Seriously is that true?" Luan said.

"It most certainly is not!" Lily spat, "he is loaning me a few books to see if I like them."

"AH-HA!" Luna crowed in triumph, "trying to force his hobbies on…"

"Luna, Lynn," Leni interrupted in a gentle voice, "are you two just looking for something to be upset about?"

"Yeah," Luan added, "it's their room and Lily's life let them decide how to run the room and if things get bad one of them can come to me or Lori, and Lily can try out any hobby she wants."

Lily nodded in agreement, "thank you so much Luan, Leni, I was worried for a moment they'd hurt Lincoln."

"Look here you little snot," Luna said, "I don't know what makes you think I'd do that, or stand by while it happened…"

"You mean like just now?" Lily said, then smirked "I guess you're both upset because Arsenal beat Chelsea 19 to nothing… I win the bet."

Luna growled before stomping off muttering, "little snobbish, pompous mini-Lola..."

Lily grinned and called after her, "I take that as a compliment!"

"Lily," Lincoln shook his head, "don't antagonize the chavette."

"Sorry," Lily blushed as Luna stomped back and handed over a wad of bills, "thank you very much!"

"So, like, Luna why are you gambling with Lily?" Leni asked, "that's setting a bad example."

"But profitable," Lily said under her breath as she counted the bills.

Luna shrugged, "wanted to take the princess down a peg."

Luan and Leni looked at her like she'd grown another head. Finally, Luan spoke, "what do you mean take her down a peg?"

"Ever since Lisa scrambled her brains she's been acting all high and mighty," Luna replied.

"I haven't noticed," Leni said.

"Lily acts like an upper-class British girl," Lincoln said, "that clashes with Luna who's taste in British culture is umm, not so upper class."

"Shut it!" Luna snapped, "or have you forgotten your lesson from the Sister Fight Protocol?"

Lincoln went silent but shot a glare at three older girls that made them take a step back, it was unusual to see Lincoln this angry, in fact, none of them had ever seen it and each, for a brief moment, was afraid of him.

"Mmm… Moving on," Luan stuttered, "their room their rules now come on let's leave them be…" With that, the sisters beat a hasty retreat.

"Are you quite alright?" Lily asked.

"...not really…" Lincoln replied.

"Wanna talk about it?" Lily looked up at him.

"After Lola's tea party maybe," Lincoln replied.

*~*~*~Loud House: Growing Up A Loud~*~*~*

Lisa lounged on the sofa watching a documentary on the life of Thomas Edison, she'd seen this one more than a few times but it made good background music for her mind to wonder. Things were slowly improving between her and the other siblings after the accident, thank goodness her parents covered everything up or she'd be up the creek. Still, she would like to accelerate the process, besides she needed to keep an eye on Lily to see how her experiment worked out.

Soft footsteps announced Leni's arrival, it was getting close to when one of her favorite shows was on. With only one TV view times had to be negotiated and traded off. Lisa recalled when her brother had bent over backward to secure a full nights viewing of a Monster Truck rally, then the SFP had happened and Lynn with help from Lucy and Lola had to teach him a lesson about trying to watch television during it, 'our brother can be a moron,' Lisa thought with disgust.

"Here you go," Lisa held up the remote for Leni who accepted it, and flipped over to a show about teams of fashion designers competing for a contract, looking her up and down Lisa noticed Leni did not seem to be her usual self.

"Second Eldest sister is something wrong?" Lisa asked, 'this could be the chance to fix things,' the tiny genius thought.

Leni sighed and Lori came from the kitchen, overhearing what Lisa said she joined the pair, "like Lisa said, what's bothering you?"

"Just some jerks at school, they…" Leni shook her head, "am I an idiot?"

Lisa and Lori went silent at this, sure Leni wasn't the brightest girl but an idiot might be going too far.

"Well no…" Lori sat beside her putting an arm around her best friend, "what makes you say that? What did they say to you?"

"That I'm a burden on my family, that I'm only good for…" she looked at Lisa, "...kissing… and other things like that," genius or not there were some things Leni wasn't comfortable with telling her kid sister.

Lisa nodded, "I'll give you to room to talk I have something to work on…" she hurried up to her lab, images of how to get back in the sisters' good graces flooding her mind.

"Forget them, besides your birthday, is coming up, why don't we discuss it? I mean what kinda cake do you want, who to invite, what would you like?" Lori asked.

"Well," Leni smiled, "some friends, and I want all you girls there for it…"

Lori smiled as Leni her place, once Leni was done Lori would be making some calls, whoever mocked her sister was going to have a very bad day, not for the first time Lori wondered how Leni would survive outside of the Loud House.

*~*~*~Loud House: Growing Up A Loud~*~*~*

"An that's what we have to get Leni a birthday gift," Lincoln said looking over the pile of money, one issue you didn't hear about much with a large family was having a birthday every month and having to keep cash on hand for parties and presents.

Lori got on Lincoln's case from time to time about buying cheap gifts, it wasn't that Lincoln was cheap it was just he didn't have as much money as his sisters. The four oldest sisters had their babysitting club, Lincoln had tried to join that but Lynn had violently denied his request, not that she was allowed in and try as she might her one, unauthorized, babysitting job ended badly, but the sisters upheld the agreement Lincoln couldn't join.

In addition, Lori, Leni, Luna, and Luan had part-time jobs working at Aloha Comrade with their dad and would probably start working at the restaurant their dad planned to open. Add in Luna's cut from gigs with her band and Luan's income from funny business and their allowances and his older sisters had money to spare.

The same was true of the younger girls, Lucy got cash from selling poems, Lola from pageants, Lana from odd jobs, and Lisa from her research.

For Lincoln's part he tried to make a business out of his skills as a pageant coach, but then got called on the floor by the older girls for helping Lola's competition. He'd tried a paper route, but Lynn decided it was a race, and Lynn being Lynn played dirty ramming Lincoln to the ground and sending the papers into the gutter, then Lisa sold the local paper delivery drones.

Lincoln was sure Lisa hadn't acted out of malice, but he was still minus a job.

Art was his next attempt until Lynn started offering his services for free, that is until Luna, Luan, and Lucy got wind of it and gave Lynn a chewing out that left the family bully so scared she bunked with the twins and wouldn't leave their room for a month. No artist of any kind tolerates exposure as pay for long. Sadly Lynn had the last laugh telling their parents he was breaking his word, which got him a week's grounding, Luan was still trying on his behalf to explain what happened but it seemed at times his parents couldn't comprehend a situation where it was a sister's fault.

Then there was his allowance, which often had to go to replacing things his sisters damaged. Like his jeans, which Lynn was constantly taking without asking then ripping and leaving Lincoln to replace out of his own pocket.

"Ace Savvy is nothing but a dollar store Superman rip off and Korea puts out better pop culture than Japan!" Lily's voice cut through Lincoln's wandering thoughts.

"WA!?" Lincoln replied.

"Sorry but I tried everything else to get your attention," Lily's face was turning as pink as one of Lola's dresses, "so funds are limited, or would be if not for my winnings," Lily grinned, "don't worry I'll split them with you, Dearest Brother, now how are we going to keep Lisa from running THIS birthday?" To say Lily held a grudge for Lisa's actions last month would be an understatement, but the card games seemed to be helping to bridge the gap between them.

"Now Lily," Lincoln held up a finger trying for his best big brother lecturing tone then paused for a moment, "something, something, forgive," Lincoln's finger dropped, "yeah I got nothing."

Lisa sprinted past the door all they caught was 'Leni,' and 'science will always prevail!' then the door slammed shut.

"That's not a good sign at all…" Lily got behind her brother.

Before he could reply Lynn's voice shook the walls, "GAME TIME!"

"That, is also not a good sign at all," Lily frowned, "I hope we don't have a repeat of the bad luck mess. Don't worry I'll let you in if they get stupid."

"Thanks, Lily," Lincoln said.

*~*~*~Loud House: Growing Up A Loud~*~*~*

Moments earlier Lynn was texting her team.

No1SportsG1rl: Remember the rule girls! No going number two until we are number one!

FastAndPurriest: We know Lynn, believe me, I swear I think I'll crap my pants at this rate.

No1SportsG1rl: Stop whining Margo, we got this.

Ravencawtaku: Lynn I'm not sure this rule is healthy… A few girls said they aren't feeling well.

No1SportsG1rl: Well that's because they aren't all surface like us Paula.

FastAndPurriest: ?

Ravencawtaku: Nani!?

No1SportsG1rl: I heard Stinkcoln calling me that once. Said, 'that's Lynn for you, she's all surface.'

Ravencawtaku: Umm that wasn't a compliment.

No1SportsG1rl: He knows better than to insult me, anyway see you girls at the game!

Finishing her text she kicked the door to her and Lucy's room open shouting game time, then repeated the action kicking open Lincoln and Lily's door, "Game time, and don't do anything to mess this up like last time Stinkcoln!" with that she hurried downstairs.

"Didn't she apologize for calling you bad luck?" Lily tilted her head in confusion.

"That's Lynn for you… Just because she apologizes doesn't mean she thinks she was wrong, to her an apology is like punting," Lincoln said, "just because you do it doesn't mean things are over with."

"Noted, so apologies from Lynn mean nothing, also is it just me, or are things never her fault?" Lily said,

"Not hers and a not a few others either, welcome to Loud House," Lincoln sighs, "well at least WE can make this room an island of sanity. Shall we little lady?"

"Yes! Let's," Lily replied.

*~*~*~To Be Continued~*~*~*

And here we go folks, another story in this little AU.

As you can see the events of Sitting Bull more or less happened in this AU, the difference being that Lori, Leni, Luna, and Luan's plan worked and Lynn actually got a karmic comeuppance for her actions, something the showrunners seem unwilling to do. This refusal to let Lynn suffer consequences and a comment by some of the Lynnsane (as Lynn's fans call themselves) that Lynn doesn't need to change heavily influences Lynn's portrayal in this story.

Here and there I've seen stories where it's commented Lincoln gives cheap gifts compared to his sisters. This got me thinking about how the Loud House you have birthdays for thirteen people in the house alone plus Christmas. From there the idea hit me that the sisters' special talents would probably provide a source of income. Along with allowance, before anyone says the sisters with jobs wouldn't get an allowance, I read a canon story that says the opposite. Then add in babysitting and other factors and it would mean that the sisters would probably have a lot more cash than Lincoln. Given Lynn's actions in Sitting Bull and Schooled! I have no trouble seeing Lynn's bullying costing Lincoln side jobs In fact, the sisters costing Lincoln something is a running theme in some episodes, comics, and games.

As for the card game, I'd had this idea with Zoinks of Lincoln bonding closer with his younger sisters.

Until next time!
