While it was decidedly the weirdest thing ever happening to him – including the shrinking issue and finding out he was an omega – Shinichi found himself not quite hating the situation.

Both Koichi and Sayuri were well-behaved, despite sharing both their troublemaker genetics. sOf course there was some sort of mischievousness, clearly inherited from Kaito, but they were being nice.

Sure, they could be acting different since they traveled back in time and were interacting with younger versions of their parents. Still.

Koichi was like a copy of Kaito, not only in appearance. Shinichi found him overly... clingy when it came to himself. The young alpha kept close to him wherever he went, sitting next to him at dinner or snuggle up to him on the couch.

There was also the protectiveness. Kaito had said it was just normal, alpha genes and stuff, but Shinichi had begun to think that was just the magician's excuse for his possessiveness.

The kid had also an affinity for sleight-of-hand tricks and seemed to enjoy pranking people. When he was caught, he acted like the picture of an innocent angel.

However, there was also Shinichi's heritage showing through. Koichi loved playing soccer, for example. And he preferred Sherlock over Lupin, which had made the detective proud while Kaito exaggeratedly stated he'd messed up as a parent.

Sayuri was rather quiet compared to her brother. Since she was a so-called beta, she wasn't quite affected by any of the alpha or omega instincts. Much like Shinichi, she observed a lot and managed to connect dots lighting quick. For her age, she was rather mature, just like Shinichi had been as Conan.

There was also lots of snark when she talked with her sibling, when they bickered for example.

And she was showing a hint of dramatic behavior already, a blend between Kaito and Yukiko, if Shinichi was honest.

Luckily she hadn't inherited the tone-deafness of her mother. Her frequent humming when she was doing anything was fortunately in tune. She had excitedly told them during dinner that her dad – future Kaito – had started teaching her acrobatics a few weeks before The Big Bad had happened.

Kaito enjoyed giving her a sense of normalcy by continuing doing that with her while Shinichi played soccer with their son.

Another thing Shinichi noticed in the few days they've been here was that they were quite adaptable. Already on the next morning after they've arrived they were rather content, having crawled into his and Kaito's bed.

Kaito had been quite giddy that they managed to sneak inside during the night without him noticing.

For Shinichi that morning was rather fuzzy, since he felt too exhausted to wake up properly until it was time for lunch.

The kids acted as if nothing was bothering them anymore, playing with them and so on.

When the adults asked them about their change of behavior, they admitted that they managed to send a signal out that would let their real parents know at what time they landed. They were confident they would eventually come and get them.

Shinichi wondered how long that would take. If he was in his future self's position, he'd stop at nothing to find his children and bring them back. And he had a feeling his soulmate was the same.

The detective had grudgingly taken time off to tend to them. They couldn't just get a babysitter for KID's heists, for example. And the less people involved in this time mess, the better.

That was also the reason they hadn't told their own parents about it, or their friends. Only Jii-chan was informed, but he was kept out of it as much as possible. Time tampering was too dangerous.

The kids talked happily about their family life in the future, their hobbies and so on, but wouldn't make a sound about the heavy and important things.

"Why can't we go watch the heist?" Koichi pouted at the TV, where a reporter was standing in front of a roaring crowd.

"Because we don't want anyone to see you." Shinichi explained patiently while he concentrated on braiding Sayuri's hair. His tongue was sticking out in concentration while he fixed it with a tie.

"There you go."

The girl touched the braid and grinned at him, looking like Kaito. "Don't worry, you'll get better at it."

Shinichi deadpanned and leaned back on the couch. "You could've waited until tomorrow, Kaito would've done this in seconds."

Sayuri climbed onto his lap and hugged him with a giggle. The detective found himself smiling at the cute action and returned the hug.

"Daddy insisted you learn it too. Since you're always there in the mornings when we get up for school."

"And he isn't?" Shinichi asked, curious. He's thought Kaito would be a stay-at-home dad, since he was some sort of royalty back in their magic world. Not to mention he wanted to become a really famous magician here, which would leave him with free reign over his working hours.

"Uhm." Sayuri shared a glance with her brother, who shrugged. "Most of the time he is. But sometimes he has to work really early."

Shinichi lifted a brow. Obviously they weren't allowed to say what profession Kaito would work.

"Okay... What about me? Am I still a detective?"

"Kinda."

Pursing his lips at the answer, Shinichi turned to look at the TV. Having his curiosity not satisfied was doing things to him.

On screen, his boyfriend had showed up and had covered the crowd with glittery dust.

"Is KID really that famous at the moment?" Koichi asked, eyes glued to the TV.

"He has a huge fanbase, yeah."

"See, I told you daddy wouldn't lie to us."

"I didn't say he lied, I said he was totally exaggerating."

Sayuri stuck out her tongue at her brother, who pulled a funny face at her and flicked her forehead, laughing when a flower sprouted from between the strands of her bangs.

The girl whined when she noticed the daisy. "That's not fair! No magic!"

"Not my fault you can't control it as good as me yet."

"Mommy, tell him to undo it!"

The three of them froze then. During their stay, they had referred to them simply as Kaito-niichan and Shinichi-niichan, since they technically weren't their parents yet.

This was the first time Shinichi was directly called a mom, and while he was horrified that was his title in the future, he felt warm from the inside out.

"I mean..." Sayuri mumbled, averting her gaze.

Shinichi swallowed the lump in his throat and rubbed her back consolingly. "It's fine." He said, smiling when she peered up at him through her bangs.

No matter how mature they appeared, they were only children. Children who doubtlessly missed their parents.

So he gladly accepted the hug when Sayuri buried herself in his chest, hiding her face. Koichi looked at them with his bottom lip sticking out slightly, though he tried to act brave.

However, when Shinichi lifted his arm towards him, he instantly dug into his side and also clung to him.

The detective ran his hands through their hair soothingly, both hoping for and loathing the day their future selves would come and take them back.

It was a few hours later when Kaito entered the house quietly. Since the light was still on, he thought Shinichi was still awake waiting for him, but when he stepped into the living room he found himself muffling a squeal into his arm.

Shinichi was laying on his side on the couch, Sayuri curled into him while Koichi was draped over him, drooling on the detective's pullover clad shoulder while his fist held tight on the sleeve. All of them were fast asleep.

In the background was the TV running, the news showing snippets of his heist. He turned it off and sat down on the coffee table, facing his family.

He couldn't believe his luck. He had found his soulmate, who accepted him the way he was, and they would have two wonderful children in the future. For a horrible moment, he had thought Shinichi would leave him, the concept of bearing children too weird for him, but the omega had adapted quite nicely. Kaito could definitely imagine him as a mother.

He reached out and gently touched his beloved's cheek, smiling softly when he stirred and leaned into it before his eyes fluttered open.

"Kai...?"

"Yeah. I'm home."

"...Welcome home..." Shinichi mumbled and yawned, awkwardly reaching up to rub at his eyes, careful not to jostle the sleeping boy on top of him.

"Had fun this evening?" Kaito asked with a quiet laugh.

"Mhm... Missed you."

"I missed you too, baby."

Shinichi blinked up at him with a cute blush adorning his cheeks. Kaito couldn't help leaning in to press a brief kiss to his lips. He'd have to remember that petname.

"Come on, let's get you all to bed." He said, trying to pick up Koichi.

The boy squirmed and tightened his grip on Shinichi's sweater, frowning in his sleep. It made the omega chuckle.

"He's so much like you."

Kaito grinned and instead reached for Sayuri, who was letting herself be picked up without a fuss. She slept like a rock, like her mother. He raised an amused brow at the flower in her hair and ran a hand over it to make it vanish.

Shinichi's sleepy smile was making butterflies fill his stomach.

The detective jostled his shoulder lightly and caught the rolling Koichi, sitting up in the progress. The boy blinked slowly, but realized where he was and nuzzled into Shinichi's shoulder and fell back asleep.

"How tired are you?" Kaito whispered as they closed the door to the guest room, where they've put the kids down for the night.

Shinichi eyed his soulmate. Kaito was always rather giddy after heists, full of adrenaline. He had told Shinichi that he'd always worked out for a good hour before he was exhausted enough to fall asleep. And he had joked that good sex was better than any workout could be.

He put his arms around the alpha's neck and kissed him as an answer. The strong arms immediately came to wrap around him, hands squeezing his bottom playfully.

Early next morning found Kaito sitting at the kitchen table, parts of his card gun scattered in front of him. It had sort of stuck the last night, and he wanted it to be in top form for his next heist.

Hearing shuffling, he looked up to the sight of the two drowsy children joining him in the kitchen.

"You're up early." He greeted them with a smile. Koichi was definitely more awake than his sister, he had to drag her towards the table, where he helped her climb a chair before sitting on another himself.

The girl simply yawned and buried her face in her arms, appearing to fall asleep again.

While they did that, Kaito hurried to vanish his tools. Weapons in reach of kids – his kids especially – were a big no-no.

"Was that your card gun?" Koichi asked curiously, sleepiness gone completely.

"Yep. I needed to make some adjustments." He chuckled softly when Sayuri mumbled something incoherently in her sleep. Definitely got that from him.

"Why are you awake this early, anyways?"

Koichi fiddled with his hands, uncharacteristically shy. "Yesterday was a little intense..." He mumbled. "M-... Shin-niichan comforted us, cause we kinda miss our parents."

So that's why they've been cuddled up like that, Kaito mused, and reached out to ruffle the wild locks.

"Don't worry. Knowing myself, I won't stop at nothing until I got you back. Same for Shinichi." He smiled encouragingly. "I'm sure they'll come for you soon."

Koichi's bottom lip wobbled slightly, but he nodded bravely. "It was nice. He did just the same he'd do in the future." He smiled now.

"Is there anything we can do to make you feel more at home?"

The boy tapped his chin cutely in thought. They've already done so much with what they usually do, with soccer and magic and what-not. They even were allowed to cuddle and snuggle up as much as they wanted.

"I'm not sure..." He finally said with a shrug. "I'd like to go out, but I know we can't." Cue in pout.

Kaito tilted his head. "You know what, if we're really careful no one sees you I think we can sneak away and go camping. At least for a night." He nodded along with his own words, warming to the idea. "A campfire, marshmallows, scary stories..." He counted off.

He himself had felt stir-crazy after a few days copped up in the manor, he couldn't imagine his young future kids enjoying it much either.

"Really?!" Koichi lit up like a christmas tree, making Kaito grin widely.

"Yup. I'll talk to Shinichi about it. We'll just leave a note in case your parents arrive just then."

The boy nodded eagerly. "We can climb trees, and collect mushrooms, and... and stargazing!" His indigo eyes shone like stars themselves at the prospect.

"You like stars?"

"I love them... you, uh, my dad rigged my room's ceiling so I see stars every night." He explained happily.

A growling sound cut in then, making Kaito chuckle.

"How about breakfast? We have some cereal left, or I can try to fry some eggs?"

"Can we wait for Shin-niichan? He makes the best waffles..."

Kaito snorted, amused. "My Shin-chan can't really cook much more than I can." As he had experienced himself already. Though his soulmate had managed to not set anything on fire yet.

"Oh, yeah, not yet..." He drooped a little. "He once said he got so bored at home that he started to teach himself."

The magician tilted his head. "Isn't he a detective anymore in the future?"

"Uhm. Well. He had to pause when he got me or something. I don't really know exactly." Koichi shrugged. "But I know he was home until Sayu-chan started pre-school."

Putting a hand to his chin, Kaito hummed. Apparently Shinichi was more of a mommy-person than he's thought. Though he had to admit, he was glad future Shinichi was responsible enough to pause his dangerous job when there were kids in the picture. Unless it was health-related...

He was a little more prone to sickness. In the month they've got together, he's had the sniffles twice already. The mini demon next door had said it appeared to be a side effect of the poison and the antidote.

A frown etched itself on Kaito's face. Who knew what else that blasted poison did to his soulmate?

Then again, their kids were obviously fine, so maybe he was worrying over nothing.

He shook his head to clear it from those concerning thoughts and smiled at his future son reassuringly. "Alright, how about we find a recipe online and prepare breakfast in bed for Shin-chan and Sayu-chan?"

Koichi nodded eagerly. "Go look for egg-rolls with rice and ginger. We always cook that when mom's sick, cause it helps with his nausea. He really likes it even when he's not sick."

"Is your mom often sick?" Kaito asked while he browsed for said recipe.

"No, not really." Koichi tilted his head. "Mostly just sore throats or low fevers. But sometimes he gets the flu or something, when he forgets his coat." The boy shakes his head and frowns cutely. "I always have to remind him to put on his scarf!"

Kaito couldn't help but smile at his future son. At least he had a helper for looking after his reckless omega soulmate.

"Okay, here we got it." He showed his phone to the kid, who grinned. "I think I saw some ginger in the fridge, he really seems to like it."

He eyed Sayuri, who hadn't moved an inch from her curled up position. "Think we should put her on the couch or something?"

Koichi followed his gaze. "Nah, she'll want to help." He snapped his fingers and conjured a piece of chocolate, which Kaito knew was from a pack inside a cupboard. He couldn't help but feel proud at that.

The boy waved the treat in front of her face, both of the alphas grinning when the little nose twitched and her eyes fluttered open. She sleepily took the chocolate and put it in her mouth, rubbing her eyes.

"Come on, Sayu-chan. We're cooking ginger egg-rolls for breakfast."

"Is mommy sick again?"

Inwardly, Kaito cooed. She called future Shinichi 'mommy'. How cute was that? He found himself hoping he's called 'daddy'.

"No, Shin-niichan is just sleeping. But we wanna make breakfast today."

Sayuri blinked a few times, processing that, before nodding. "... But he said he didn't mind me calling him that."

Koichi rolled his eyes. "Just because he didn't mind yesterday, doesn't mean he's okay with it all the time.

Crossing her arms, the girl pouted. Then she looked at Kaito with big eyes. "Would you mind if I called you daddy?"

Kaito felt like being punched in the chest and at the same time as if bathing in warm chocolate pudding. His future children were so freaking precious.

"Of course not." He hurried to say after he calmed his inner squealing fit. "And I'm sure Shin-chan won't mind either."

Her grin was blinding, and beautiful, and with Koichi tentatively smiling too, it had to be the best thing in the world.
