While visiting my wife's family ravens reached us that Daemon had raised his banner, claiming to be the heir of Grandfather Aegon. The rumors of my father being a bastard were of course baseless. I was more worried for my father and brother in the path of the rebellion and went about gathering strmlanders and dornish spears, praying they could hold long enough for us to arrive.

While assembling as fast as possible, worrying the entire time when we reached King's Landing we would find Daemon on the Throne, we began the race to see who would reach the city first.

The gods were smiling on us thankfully. We arrived at the Capitol and heard Maekar was with the Army already assembled likely skirmishing with the rebels to the west. The final journey to the battle later known as Redgrass Field was the most stressful time of my life.

We came upon fleeing soldiers of our Van, claiming their commander Donnel Arryn was likely captured and all was lost. Fearing we would come upon the victorious rebels, we marched in formation and knew either way this day would end the fight amongst our house.

After cresting the ridge our scouts reported Maekar was holding against Aegors relentless assault forming shieldwall, but was dangerously close to breaking. Using our surprise arrival, I ordered the charge at their rear, and songs were sung of Baelor the Hammer and Maekar his Anvil.

That battle would not be the last battle Maekar and I fought in, although it was the last on the same side.
