I finally sit up, opening my eyes and looking down curiously at my left arm, only to smile seeing it's a tiny stick of celery, I can't help but giggle a little at that, the clock also changing to the minute 5.
I slowly get to my feet, stretching and sighing seeing I'm still in the darkness, I close my eyes rubbing them a bit before I hear the ocean, I shiver and open my eyes, looking out over the ocean in front of me, my eyes widen and I quickly back away from the waves lapping gently at the beach, I frown in confusion and look around, a large hillside going up behind me.
I wander down the beach to my left, hoping to figure out where I am before I turn around a large boulder and come face to face with a soldier, gun ready, I gasp and flinch back as he raises his gun quickly at me, I throw my hands up quickly "I'm not armed! Don't shoot!" I yelp, only the see many other soldiers behind him, all armed, and to my utter relief, the 7th Doctor and Ace.
I smile when I see them before I look back to the soldier quickly, keeping my hands up "I'm with them, I just got a little lost" I explain, he keeps his gun trained on me before he motions for me to go closer to the group.
We had been just far enough away the group hadn't seen or heard us over their own talking, the Doctor is kneeling beside one of their injured men, Ace watching worriedly, I quietly make my way over, not wanting to disturb the Doctor yet as he asks the man to try and describe what he saw.
I see Ace sees me but I quickly put a finger to my lips to quiet her for now, she nods but watches worriedly, looking back down at the men.
The injured man hands the Doctor something before crying out in pain or fear, I couldn't tell which, I wince and cover my ears as the Doctor quickly puts him to sleep gently, then he pulls something from his own pocket, the small thing is identical to the one from his pocket.
I glance up at the leader of the men as he speaks with a slight Russian accent "we delay our attack until you both return" he decides.
One of his men stands quickly, looking to him "captain, this is madness"
"We play for high stakes. Victory goes to those who take the greatest risk. Go" he motions with his head for the Doctor to leave, I smile softly as he stands quickly, grabbing his umbrella and heading off, Ace not far behind, I follow after them happily, catching up with Ace and smiling at her as I look to the Doctor in front of us.
"I wonder how long it will take for him to realize I'm here" I wonder aloud to Ace, she snickers as the Doctor doesn't seem to be listening, I smirk at her "watch this, I love doing this" I murmur to her before opening the connection suddenly, sending him a wave of humor as we watch him nearly trip in surprise.
He looks around ahead of him before whirling around, I smile as he sees me, his face lighting up "Rose! How long have you been here?" He asks quickly, stuffing the metal things into his pocket before taking my hand gently in his free one, I beam up at him happily "not long, only a few minutes at the most" I say, Ace heads on ahead as we talk.
He gently pulls me into a hug, which I happily accept, hugging back tightly "its been a long time since I've seen this you" I hum softly as he kisses my forehead gently.
"How long is that then?" He asks curiously, I think for a moment before my eyes widen and I look up at him.
"I think it's around 9 or ten months, maybe even longer" I say softly in a bit of shock, he smiles softly.
"That is quite some time, where are you coming from?" He asks, taking my hand again as we head off after Ace back up the hill and away from the water.
"From the Masters trap of Castrovalva" I say and he smiles softly at the memories, gently squeezing my hand before helping me up a rather large rock on our way.
"I see, how are you doing after it? I remember the Master had held you captive, did he do anything to you?" He asks, pressing his mind to mine, sending concern and affection, I smile a little at his concern, shaking my head softly.
"Not really, no, only a small bruise on the back, thankfully" I say happily, pressing my mind back against his, sending him love and happiness.
As we get to the top of the hill we catch up with Ace and quickly head off toward the church, the Doctor keeping a tight hold on my hand as we go, I can sense his slight nervousness about everything and I try to send him reassurance and calm.
We quickly enter the church, the Doctor letting my hand go as he takes off his hat, probably out of respect, I stuff my hands into my pants pockets as I hadn't put on my jacket before jumping, I smile softly as I glance around, the building was so cool, I've always loved old buildings.
The Doctor and Ace stop in the middle of the room, pews on all sides as he looks around looking a little confused, I smile softly and stop next to him.
"Why do I feel there's something different about this place?" He asks, I shrug a little as Ace glances around too.
"Yeah, it doesn't even look like a church" she comments, he looks down at her confused.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, from the outside, it looks more like a small fortress" she explains.
"No no no no no, different since we were last here" he tsks before heading toward the back of the church, I snicker softly and follow after him quickly, Ace following behind.
He opens the door in the back leading to the stairs down into the crypt area.
"I think its about time we had a proper look at those inscriptions" he says and heads down the stairs and through some doors into the room with the writing, I shiver a little seeing the new writing carved into the stone, somehow looking ancient while being brand new.
I stay near the doors as the two others go up to the writing "can you hear noises from behind the walls?" Asks Ace as she looks around the room, I pause and nod a little, a soft rumbling, very faint can be heard.
"Can't hear a thing" the Doctor says dismissively.
"I definitely heard them" she retorts, still looking around.
"Rose, Ace, come here" the Doctor says but I stay back by the door, not wanting to get too close, the entire place felt off now, with those new inscriptions.
"Look at that" he continues, pointing to the lettering as Ace walks over and kneels down in front of it curiously "what do you notice?"
I stop listening then, remembering what they were saying so I quietly wander around the small room, keeping my distance from the carvings nervously, but I didn't realize the Doctor had looked to me when he sensed my nerves, and he kept his eyes on me as he talked with Ace.
After a few moments my arm is suddenly grabbed, I look up with wide eyes only for us to all crouch down behind a box, the Doctor gently pulling me to be just under his arm as we listen to who ever it was we were hiding from pass through and leave again, I had covered my mouth to silence my breathing.
We stand back up as the person is gone, I watch the door they came through nervously, the Doctor keeping his arm around my shoulders gently to keep me close.
"Where is he?" Ace asks confused, we move out from behind the box, the Doctor letting me go as he looks to the carvings again, I move away to the other side of the room, my back against one of the bookshelves near the box.
"Those noises you heard this morning" the Doctor said and starts to tap his umbrella handle against the wall around the new inscriptions, I shiver a little as I watch nervously.
"A secret door?" Asks Ace, the doctor humming an affirmative sound.
"But I'm sure the noises came from over on this side" Ace says, coming toward my side of the room, I glance back toward the bookshelves, stepping away from them for a moment as Ace and the Doctor come over to check them out, the Doctor brushes past me and starts tapping against one of the bookshelves.
My eyes widen when I see the bookshelf closest to the main door opening up, and a man with a gun steps out, aiming it at me as we make eye contact, my heart sinks nervously, I gently grab Ace, pulling her away from the man as she sees the man, gripping my arm in worry "Professor?" She calls worriedly.
I send him a wave of concern as I speak "Hun...we have company" I say worriedly, he stands up straight and turns to us, his nose nearly touching the gun at how close the man was holding it to him, I gulp shakily, watching worriedly.
"I think this is what you're looking for, Doctor" the man says, I glare at him a little, my heart racing nervously, feeling worry coming off the Time Lord in waves.
"Come with me" the man orders, gesturing into the dark hallway he had been hiding in, the Doctor watches him closely before slowly entering, the man then points the gun at us and gestures inside as well, I gently push Ace ahead of me so I was between them and the man with the gun.
He makes us walk down the hallway until we enter a larger room full of people and canisters of something with a sign of a skull and crossbones, I grimace a little and shake my head softly as I look around.
The man with the gun, I think the head of the base, talks to some of the men around us, but he keeps his gun trained on us, making me increasingly uncomfortable, we walk into a smaller room through a small doorway in the stone walls, I glance around nervously before looking to the Doctor.
"Behold, the end of the war" the man says, looking at a small spigot sticking out of the wall, a green liquid pouring out into a large glass box, the Doctor looking to him angrily.
"So, this is what brrrought you here. A natural source of lethal poisons" he says in disgust.
"The Curse of Fenric?" Ace asks.
"Once the Nazis see what our planes are dropping on their cities..." the human says, I glare at him dangerously.
"But, you can't!" Ace retorts.
"It would mean the end of the war. Save hundreds of thousands of lives" the man continues.
I shake my head and wander away a little, I couldn't sit there and listen, I would probably have punched the guy in the face if I listened any longer, Ace follows me and we find another off shoot.
I can hear the two men talking behind us but I ignore it for now, I knew what they were saying anyways, the Doctor was just getting the man to think we are on his side.
"Professor" Ace calls but he shushes her, she looks at me and I shrug and step through quietly, looking around curiously before the others leave, I sigh and retreat, following after the others quietly, hands in my pockets as we head back upstairs into the church.
I stop behind the Doctor and Ace as she stops him, looking at the Vicar sitting alone silently and seeming to be in deep thought.
"Professor. What's wrong with the Vicar?" She asks, I glance to him quietly then look back to them, but before the Doctor can respond the man in front of us says "no girls. Leave them here" I glare at him as he points at us.
"What? You're beginning to aggravate me" Ace snaps, I sigh and gently lay my hand on her shoulder "it's alright, we can wait here" I tell her softly, the Doctor nods and smiles at me softly.
"Good, you both better stay here, only for a short time" he adds as Ace gives him an angry look "I've gotta find out what's going on, you can find out what's wrong with Mr Waineright" he says before walking after the man before he pauses and looks back at us.
"Give me an hour" he says, I nod softly and smile a little after him "be careful" I call softly before sighing, Ace goes to sit down with the Vicar but I wander away, not bothering to listen in for now.
My mind was on other things, like how in the world would I be able to help defeat Fenric when he came back 'I will probably need to stay away during the final confrontation, let the creature through to kill itself and Fenric, but how can I help before that...I could stop Ace from revealing the secret, but would that change too much...? Probably, but I might be able to stop him from taking that mans body...no, that would also change too much...wouldn't it...?'
I sigh softly and move to the other end of the church, looking out one of the windows as I lean against the wall, my heart sinking the more I think.
'Should I warn the Doctor? I could stop so many people from dying right now...but it would change so much...do I even have the right to change things so much...? No, no I don't...' I rub my forehead a little as I think, dread starting to fill me until I suddenly get a deep warm wave through the connection, as well as a bit of worry, I smile a little and sigh, quickly shutting the connection a little so as to not worry him, lessening the strength of the emotions from my end.
Then I send him reassurance and warmth, I rub my eyes a little before standing up straight and heading over to Ace "lets head off to go find the Doctor" I say and she nods, we head out of the church, waving bye to the Vicar before we start walking down the road toward the base.
"So how long as it been since you were last here? The Professor says you can be gone for years at a time from your point of view" she says, I nod and smile softly.
"He's right, its been about 9 or 10 months since I was last here, its still so odd to me that for you both it was barely a few hours" I hum softly, she nods and readjusts her bag on her shoulder.
"What were you doing for those months away?" She asks curiously, I smile more.
"You wouldn't believe me I think" I say and she smiles more.
"Oh come on, tell me" she asks, I smile softly and chuckle a little before nodding.
"Alright, well right after I left I got to meet three Doctor's at once, then I went back and met the very first Doctor, so that was his first meeting with me, so much else happened...I got stuck in early 1900s England working at a school, I was attacked by all kinds of creatures, I died..." I list off things happily before she gasps, staring at me in shock at that last one.
I wince "shoot...don't tell the Doctor ok? You can't tell him any of this, most of it is in his future" I explain quickly, she stops and gently grabs my hand to stop me as well.
"How could you have died? You're alive, you feel alive anyways" she says confused, I smile a little.
"Ok, I didn't really die, it was more I timed everything perfectly and sort of cheated death, but again, no telling the Doctor, he would lock me up and never let me leave the Tardis again" I snicker and she smiles a little, relaxing and nodding before we continue on.
When we get to the base I pause for a moment, glancing to the Tardis "I might...um...I might go and grab something" I say softly, Ace looks to me curiously but nods.
"Ok, I'll tell the Professor" she says before continuing on up to the buildings at the base, I quietly make my way down the hill to the Tardis, smiling softly as she unlocks for me, I step inside and sigh softly, relaxing a little as she hums under me, I close the door behind myself and come up to the console.
"What should I do...? I don't think I can do much to help for the rest of this...I'll just get in the way..." I say softly, leaning against the console and glancing around the room, she hums under my touch and one of her screens lights up, I walk over to it curiously to see words being written out quickly.
I look closer and watch as she seems to speak to me 'my dear ..., it is up to you what you do, but our lonely thief would miss you greatly' it says, though the word she calls me is written in Circular Gallifreyan, I frown a little in confusion before putting it to the back of my mind for now.
I run my fingers through my hair before pulling it into a ponytail, wandering around the console as I think "but what if I get in the way and mess something up? Or someone gets hurt because of me...I don't know how I can help without changing time, and that is usually a bad idea" I rub my forehead, closing the connection as I knew he would come looking for me if he could sense my unease and worry.
I look back to the screen "if I stay in here, will everything turn out just like the episode?" I ask, she hums softly for a moment before replying reluctantly.
'Yes, but you do not know if it will change with you there either, it could remain the same'
I shake my head and sigh "no I don't...but I don't know if I should risk it, fighting Fenric is dangerous, and if me being there changes any small thing, it could get more people killed...I don't want that, I have enough blood on my hands..."
I close my eyes and lean against the console again "I can't think...I don't know what to do and I feel like my head is fuzzy...I must need more sleep...or food...I don't know" I mumble, rubbing my eyes again.
I can soon feel the Doctor knocking against the door in my mind, I frown nervously, hesitating as I look to the console, she gives me a soft encouraging hum and I nod, opening the connection a little, feeling an instant wave of concern and fear, I frown and quickly send back reassurance and comfort.
He keeps trying to get closer, but it seemed the distance between us was making that hard, I look to the doors nervously before sighing "I'd better go tell him I'm alright..."
I run to my room really quickly, grabbing a thin hoodie and my coat, pulling the hoodie on under my outer coat before heading back to the main doors, pulling the hood up and zipping up the outer coat as I knew it would be raining a little now.
Just as I step out of the Tardis I see the Doctor coming down the hill toward me quickly with the Vicar close behind him, the Doctor having his umbrella up and covering them, I smile a little and walk up to meet them.
As soon as I'm close enough the Doctor grabs my hand, looking me over worriedly "are you alright? What's happened?" He asks quickly, his mind pressing close to mine, searching for the reasons for my worry.
I smile a little and squeeze his hand softly "nothing, I'm alright, I'm sorry I worried you" I say softly, but he doesn't seem to buy it, meeting my eyes seriously.
"Rose, tell me what's happened, remember what I said, don't hide away from me" he says softly, I sigh softly, glancing to the Vicar before looking back to him.
"I'm just worried I'll get in the way...I can't think of how I can help with all of this" I explain softly, looking down.
He sighs softly and gently pulls me against him in a one armed hug, I hug back tightly "I'm sorry...I know it's stupid..." I murmur, he tightens his arm around me, softly kissing my forehead.
"It isn't stupid to worry, Darling" he murmurs softly "and I don't want you to feel the need to hide from me" he says softly, I nod a little and pull away, taking his hand again.
"Then lets get to the church, before all hell breaks loose" I say softly, he watches me for a few moments, obviously still concerned but I knew we had to get moving.
I give him a soft smile before we head off toward the church quickly, the Vicar keeping pace as he looks us over curiously.
"Are you family?" He asks curiously, I smile a little and nod softly "in a way, yes...he's my future husband" I explain, getting a shocked and confused look from the man.
The Doctor gently squeezes my hand and smiles a little as we walk.
"Husband...I must ask then, are you older than you appear? Your hair is as if you were much older, but your face is too young" he says, trying to figure this all out.
I giggle a little as the Doctor smirks a little beside me, his mind pressing to mine happily, obviously amused.
"No, I am only 22, but he is much older than he looks" I say, nodding to the Time Lord, the Vicar was starting to look a little concerned now.
"And...you are not...I mean...you do not see anything wrong with this?" He asks, I snicker softly and look up to him.
"Well, we aren't exactly human, and he is far older than the age of your church even" I say happily, the Vicar stops in shock, we both stop beside him as he stares at us.
"But, that cannot be possible...how can...no, this is some sort of joke, isn't it?" He asks, I shake my head softly.
"Nope, no joke, my husband here is well over 950 years old, and I have been traveling with him his whole life" I say softly, the Vicar shakes his head.
"That cannot be true, you are too young if his age is true...and, how on earth is he so old...if you are both not human, than why do you appear human?" He asks, I smile more and shrug.
"Because we are not from earth, ok, well he isn't, I am, but not this earth, we...well we travel in space and time, and I am not able to control when or where I travel, I only know that I will end up back with the Doctor, no matter what" I explain, the poor man just stands there dumbfounded as he stares at us.
I can feel the slight humor coming from the Doctor, I smile softly and shake my head "come on, Vicar, we must get to the church, after this is all over you can ask all of the questions you like, but we have work to do" I say and me and the Doctor continue on quickly, the man soon following as we get back to the church.
I pull my hood down as we quickly head into the back room and I glance around, letting go of the Doctors hand as I look down the stairs into the basement area.
I head down the stairs quickly, looking around for something I could use to fight off the weird vampire things, I think they were called Haemovores.
'Ok, first I need to help fight them off, then we go down into the tunnels and head to the base...' I rub my forehead as I think before I find a pipe, I grab it quickly and open up the the bookshelf hidden door, making sure we could escape through it easily later.
I then head back up to see the Doctor and Ace already coming down the stairs, I back up and head back down with them, the Doctor looking at me a little worriedly seeing me holding the pipe, I just shrug a little and follow him as he looks for the jar containing Fenric, I stay quiet as he and Ace talk, glancing around us nervously before we hear the Vicar calling for us.
I follow them back upstairs quickly, looking around nervously before I go to the back door of the room, the one I knew the Vicar would have tried to keep closed, leaning against it and making sure it was closed tightly, then I turn my eyes to the other entrances nervously.
It's not long before Ace notices the water leaking under the door, I press more back against the door, my heart rate spiking, the Doctor looks to me then back to the water as the Vicar says the roof leaking was the problem, but very quickly we get surrounded by the creatures.
I use my legs to press my back into the door, keeping it closed as I feel the creatures pressing against the door, trying to get in, as they start to get the door leveraged open a little I hit at the hands with the pipe, making them pull back in pain and I can close the door again, keeping it held closed again as I look to the others, the Vicar helping the Doctor and Ace as they keep getting grabbed by the creatures.
As I watch worriedly Ace makes a run for it up the stairs and gets away, I look back to the Doctor, my eyes widening when I see them nearly pull him through the broken window "Doctor!" I yell, my heart sinking as we start to get overrun until I remember how to get rid of them, belief!
I take a deep breath before closing my eyes, relaxing and thinking of the Doctor, believing that he would save the day like he always did, and that he would keep me safe.
As the creatures push into the room I drop the pipe, letting it clatter to the floor before I open my eyes, looking the Doctor in the eyes as I think, and soon it seems to work, the creatures crying out and retreating as a soft humming sound surrounds us..
I keep my eyes on the Doctor until they are gone, sighing shakily and leaning against a table, the Doctor comes to my side instantly, gently making me look at him, I smile softly "I had faith" I say softly, he smiles gently and kisses my lips before Ace comes back downstairs, the soldiers following close behind her, the Doctor takes my hand and looks to the men quickly.
"Anymore up there?" He asks the Commander quickly, nodding to the stairs.
"Only those creatures" the man responds.
"Quick, your men, down to the crypt" the Doctor orders quickly before telling the Vicar to grab the record book, then he pulls me down the stairs quickly, keeping me close to his side as we go.
As we get all the way down the stairs the Doctor orders them to jam the door and they get to work on it quickly, I move away from the group as they talk, but the Doctor stops me and gently brushes down my back, clearing it of the dust and splinters from being pressed against the wooded door, I smile softly and kiss his cheek before I open the hidden door "lets get going before they catch up" I say and head through quickly.
The others stop though when the commander says he must go back, I ignore the rest and quickly go to the tunnel that was closed up, looking for another way to get through, but not finding any I wait for the others to enter.
When they do I grab Ace's arm gently and pull her to the wall "we need an explosion right here" I say quickly, pushing the others behind the wall quickly as Ace gets them set up, she runs back around the corner with us just before they go off, I cover my mouth and nose with my jacket as we all cough and run through the hole quickly, I grab the Doctors hand as we go, staying close to him as we run.
However the closer to the base we get I let go of the Doctors hand and quickly move back to stand with the soldiers 'I'm not going to let them die, I've failed to save too many already'
The Vicar asks the Doctor if there was any way of slowing them down, before the men in front of me cock their weapons, getting them ready to fires, the Doctor looks back at them, I stay behind them to keep out of his sight, knowing he wouldn't let me stay if he saw where I was.
"2 minutes. Then follow us" he says to them before they continue on, I quickly motion for the men to keep quiet about me staying behind with them, we walk back a little ways, I glance back toward the other group, making sure they didn't notice me staying behind before I look to the men in front of me.
"When the time comes, I want you to listen to me, I want you to run for your lives back toward the Doctor, he will make sure you are safe" I say softly but seriously, they look to me nervously before nodding.
I watch down the tunnel a little nervously, knowing the Haemovores were going to be here soon, I stand between both men as they raise their weapons, and its not long before we see silhouettes coming down toward us, the men start firing but it only holds them off for a short amount of time before their guns run out of bullets, the second that happens I grab their arms and push them toward the way the others went.
We take off sprinting with the creatures close behind, I make sure the men are in front of me as we run, we soon get to the doors and as I expected they are sealed shut, the men start banging against the doors and I can feel a wave of fear from the Doctor, I quickly send him reassurance as I hear him and the others yelling outside the doors, I turn back to the creatures quickly, my heart racing as they get closer and closer.
The men beside me look to me in fear and I take a deep shaky breath "trust me, please, put your total faith in me that I will get us out" I say softly, the men look terrified but nod shakily, I try to concentrate as all I can feel is the Doctors overwhelming fear and worry.
I close the connection, closing my eyes as well and breathing out as they get closer and closer, the men both move to stand by my sides, I gently grab their hands and think about the Doctor, believing he would save us, save me, and save the day, I put all of my belief directly into him, to his image in my mind, and as I can hear the creatures right in front of us they soon start to scream and back away in fear.
I keep my eyes closed as the creatures retreat slowly, a soft humming surrounding us as the creatures soon disappear back down the tunnel, just far enough to be out of our sight, I open my eyes and watch them closely.
My hands shaking a little but I glance to the men as they stare in shock after the creatures, I smile a little, relaxing seeing it was working.
"Come on, lets get this door open" I say and we quickly get to work finding a way to open the doors, I manage to slide one of their knifes between the doors, unhooking the latch and the door swings open, I get us all out before closing and locking the door again quickly, I smile at the shocked men.
"Come on boys, time to get you all to safety" I say and quickly lead them to the fence that had been cut to let their commander through "go on down that way, you should find three of your friends, be careful" I say as they nod and run away quickly, getting through the fence before I look around.
I quickly open the connection to get flooded with worry and concern, I smile a little and send back reassurance quickly before I head off to look for him, following the tiniest pull from the connection as I go.
I find the Doctor hiding behind a building, waiting for Ace to lure away the guard, I beam as I run up quietly and follow after him as he runs to the prison building quickly, I grab his hand as we go and he looks to me with wide eyes for a moment, I smile happily and he sighs in relief and we get into the building quickly.
I kiss the Doctors cheek before I run to the desk, grabbing the keys from the top drawer and tossing them to the Doctor, who quickly unlocks the cage, letting the commander out quickly, then we make a break for it back out of the place.
I take the Doctors hand again as we run, meeting back up with Ace as we go, the Doctor pulls me to a stop for just a moment as the other two go on, I look to him curiously and he pulls me into a hug, I smile and hug back, kissing his cheek softly.
"Come on Doctor, lets finish this mess, then we can worry about me being in trouble" I say before taking off again, the Doctor sighing as he follows me quickly, taking my hand again as we run.
We run into the main buildings where we had been only a few hours ago, rushing to the code breaking room only to enter as the doctor is laying on the ground, having fallen from his wheelchair.
I hesitate in the doorway nervously as the Doctor says "Don't touch him! Don't touch anything" he commands the mans carer.
"But he's an invalid, he can't even stand without someone to support him" she says in confusion, I shiver a little as a large storm had started outside, wind whipping up and rain pouring down on us.
"He's dead" says the Doctor, I stay in the doorway, glaring at the commander of the English base, I had hated that man for what he did, how many people died because of his stupid choices.
"The time is now. The chains of Fenric have shattered. The gods have lost the final battle. Dead men's ship has slipped its mooring. And the great ash itself trembles to its roots" he rambles as Ace panics, thinking Fenric has possessed him, but I look to the supposedly dead man on the ground, my heart sinking nervously.
And as I watch, Fenric stands up behind the Doctor, taking over the body and opening his horrible green glowing eyes as the Doctor turns to see him.
"We play the contest again. Time Lord" Fenric says, I glare more at him, my hands shaking a little as I send waves of concern to the Doctor, uncomfortable seeing the Doctor so close to the evil being.
"You left me in the shadow dimensions. Trapped for 17 centuries, but now I've found a body again. And the preparations are complete" he says, raising his arms as he seems to glow, I jerk back, covering my face as the windows in the room shatter and explode glass everywhere, wind whipping into the room.
As we look back to where the man once stood he was gone, I shiver again and glance around at the others before looking out into the hallway nervously.
A few other English soldiers run into the room past me and their commander shouts "shoot them!" He snaps.
"What for?' Asks one of his men.
"Because I order you to. For treason" the leader exclaims, I glare at him again.
"Sir" the man says, taking the Doctors umbrella and forcing us outside, my heart sinks as we are taken outside into the pouring rain and pushed against a brick wall, the Doctor moves to stand in front of me as he speaks "you don't have to kill the girls" he snaps angrily, I gently grip the back of his jacket, my hands shaking a little still, he presses his mind to mine, sending reassurance and love, I can't help but smile a little, sending love back.
"Let's just get this over with" one of the soldiers says as the others line up in front of us, getting ready to fire.
"They are only children!" The Doctor says, reaching around behind him to grip my arm tightly.
"Killing us doesn't make any difference!" The Russian commander beside us yells.
"Mum, I'm sorry!" Ace yells, I grab her arm quickly to pull her closer.
And just on time a grenade goes off near us, I keep a tight grip of Ace and the Doctor as we run toward where it had come from, my ears ringing a little, avoiding the gunfire from both sides thankfully, but the whole place erupts in a firefight.
We get down behind a small hill and hide under the Doctors umbrella as the rain continues to pour and the fighting gets louder, I sit down with them and huddle against the Doctors side a little, his arm coming around me as I look to Ace to make sure she was alright.
"I must play the game. To the end this time" the Doctor murmurs.
"What game?" Ace asks.
I wince as another explosion goes off again, the Doctor pulling me closer against his side protectively.
"A very simple game. A game of chess" he explains, I shake my head "its too dangerous..." I murmur, the Doctor sighs and kisses my forehead gently.
"You know I must" he says softly, I nod a little and sigh.
"Then you two must go and find the chess set" I say and he nods, I stand and so do they, he grabs my hand as he sees me about to go another way "Rose, stay with us" he orders but I shake my head quickly.
"I have something else I have to do" I pull the Doctor down into a soft kiss before smiling gently up at him.
"Be safe, please, no losing the Fenric ok? Or I may just have to suspend kisses for the next year" I tease, he smiles softly and nods, kissing me once more before they head off quickly, I run to the radio room as fast as I can, remembering those poor girls locked in there that would be transformed if I wasn't fast, as I slide into the building I see one of the creatures heading for the door.
I grab a small box from one of the shelves in the hallway, chucking it at the Haemovore, it stumbles away from the now half open door and I run inside, quickly closing it and holding it closed as the girls behind me had screamed in fear.
I look back to them quickly "cover the windows! Move tables and anything to cover them!" I yell and they seem in shock for a moment before getting to work quickly, I manage to get the door stuck before helping the large group of girls fortify the room, the creatures try to get through for a while before they all just disappear, I sigh shakily and tell the girls to stay hidden for now.
Then I get out and step outside into the rain, I look around sadly, seeing the bodies of the soldiers who had fought each other, I sigh sadly and quietly look around.
'What should I do now...? I can't help any more...I'll just get in the way' I quickly make my way back inside and try to help calm the girls down, explain that we would all be safe soon, I get them all to one of their rooms, they keep asking questions and I try to answer them as best I can, looking out the windows every now and then, hoping to see the Doctor and Ace.
One of the girls stops me after my tenth time looking out the windows, she gently lays her hand on my arm "are you alright? Who are you looking for?" She asks softly, my heart sinks and I sigh, shoulders slumping a little.
"My husband...he's out there somewhere...I don't know where..." I murmur, she frowns sadly and looks out the window as well.
"I'm sorry...all the others are dead...I don't think he would have survived" she murmurs softly, I shake my head a little and manage a small smile at her.
"I know he's alive, I can feel it...I'm just worried about him...this whole mess was dangerous, and I don't know if me being here could have messed anything up" I murmur, looking back outside.
She stays by my side silently as we wait, and after another 15 minutes or so we hear a loud explosion from the bunker, my smile returning as I stand up from my sitting position on the desk, I smile at the girl gently before racing outside, nearly slipping a few times on the mud before I come around a corner, seeing the Doctor and Ace kneeling in the mud as he explains to her what he had to do.
I smile softly as relief floods me, I stay back a bit before they both stand, then I run over toward them, smiling widely, they both look over and I smile softly at Ace "you are fantastic" I praise, hugging her before I hug the Doctor tightly, feeling him kiss my forehead before we head down toward the Tardis, walking close together as everyone else in the base who was still alive starts to get to work figuring out what happened and cleaning up.
As we get to the Tardis I take off my coat and sweatshirt, hanging them up to dry near the door, taking the Doctors hat and umbrella, hanging them both up as well before I head toward our room, kissing the Doctors cheek as I go "go to the beach, give Ace some time to think, I'm going to take a shower and grab some food" I say softly, he nods and smiles to me softly before I disappear.
I get to our room and grab some clean clothes, a pair of sweatpants and a large t-shirt, wanting to sleep forever after this, I remove the bandage from my back then I hop into the shower, washing the mud and sweat off, I take a good hour long shower, enjoying relaxing before I hop out and dry off.
I look at the wound on my back in the mirror, it looked a lot better now, I redress it carefully before getting dressed.
Once I'm dressed I start to dry my hair with a towel, realizing now my hair was much longer than it had been when I first arrived, I look in the mirror curiously to see it had grown down to the middle of my back now, where it had been barely past my shoulders when I first arrived in this world.
I smile a little and hold my hair up a little, wondering if I should cut it, but I decide to worry about it later and I step out into the bedroom to see the Doctor sitting on the edge of the bed, his hat, jacket and shoes missing.
I smile softly as I come over only to sigh as he looks to me, not looking happy, I sit down next to him and meet his eyes, continuing to towel dry my hair "before you say anything, if this is about me staying back with the soldiers in the tunnel, I knew we'd be safe because I had faith" I say seriously, he sighs softly.
"Rose, that was still incredibly dangerous, you could have died, the commander wouldn't let me open the doors to get you out, I don't want you risking your life like that again" he says seriously, taking my free hand in his, I smile softly and shake my head.
"You can't ask that of me, you would have done the same if you knew he would lock the doors, I couldn't let those men die a needless death" I say softly, standing and tossing the towel into the hamper before I grab my favorite book from a shelf before flopping onto the bed, feeling his eyes on me the whole time, I sigh as I can sense his worry, I press my mind to his, looking over to meet his gaze.
"I'm alright hun, I knew what would happen, I was careful, and remember, I was able to ward off the creatures" I say softly, my back against the headboard with my book in my lap.
He watches me before he shakes his head "Rose, you can't risk your life so carelessly, you couldn't have been totally sure you'd be safe" he says worriedly, I smile more and meet his eyes.
"I was sure, I had faith in you, and that saved me, and those men" I say and smile more, he watches me, curious if I was joking but I send him reassurance and warmth, smiling softly.
"I wasn't joking, I knew you'd solve everything, I knew you'd protect me and keep me safe, and you did" I say softly, he sighs softly and lays down on his back, looking up at me, I scoot a little closer and lean down, softly kissing his forehead.
"I'm alright now, we survived and we are safe now" I say softly, leaning back against the headboard.
He smiles a little and sits up "you are impossible" he says and stands, I giggle a little and nod "ya, I know, its sort of the best word to explain me now" I hum happily.
He chuckles and goes to change into some clean clothes before returning as I had started to read quietly, almost laying down, propped up a little against a few pillows, the lights in the room had dimmed as well, I start to get lost in my book, enjoying the warmth of the room and the comfy pillows under my sore back.
I gasp as the Doctor crawls onto the bed, flopping down laying on my legs, resting his head on my stomach and wrapping his arms around my waist, I giggle a little and gently run my fingers through his curly hair.
"Comfy?" I tease, he nods softly and tightens his arms around me gently, I smile more and blush as he presses closer, closing his eyes and pressing his mind to mine, I continue to softly stroke his hair, hesitating before I softly start to read out loud, curious if he liked me doing so in this regeneration.
I feel him relaxing more as he listens, his tense muscles relaxing more, I manage to not trip over my words too much thankfully, and the longer I read the closer the Doctor gets, crawling up a little closer and he gently pulls the end of my shirt up a little, just enough to have skin contact with his arm, I shiver and gasp a little at both his cool touch and the instant swarm of warmth in my mind.
I smile more and lean down, softly kissing his forehead before continuing to read, pressing my mind to his happily as I read aloud, just enjoying the closeness and peace of it all.
After a good few hours I finish the book, glancing down to find the Doctor fast asleep in my lap, I smile softly and set the book down on the bedside table before I gently pull the blankets over us, the lights dimming until they are off, I smile at the ceiling and whisper a thank you before falling asleep myself, wrapping my arm around the Doctor gently.
