AN at the bottom!
To atrhoads05: I absolutely love writing Jack! He's so fun and sarcastic and it's an absolute blast! And I'm so excited to write about their adventures and the dinner!
I didn't realize I had even fallen asleep during our talk until I start to wake up, pain radiating through me from my back, I groan softly and frown, keeping my eyes closed tiredly until I feel a soft hand combing fingers through my hair, I sigh softly and relax a little, opening my eyes tiredly to see the Doctor sitting on the bed next to me, smiling softly.
"How are you feeling?" He asks, I hesitate before sighing.
"Like I've been hit by a bus...then electrocuted by said bus" I mumble, burying my face into my pillow tiredly.
He smiles softly "then lets get you some pain killers" I nod tiredly and slowly sit up, wincing and trying to keep my breathing normal through the pain, he helps me up worriedly, I smile a little up at him.
"I want to try and stand, I want to make sure I can move if I need to" I say softly, he eyes me worriedly.
"Rose, I don't think thats the best idea" he warns, I shrug a little and regret it quickly as the pain spikes for a moment.
"I need to, we never know when I'll be leaving, and I don't want to put anyone into any danger if I can't move myself" I explain, he sighs softly.
"Fine, but first, you have to take the pain meds, then wait until they start working" he says seriously, I shake my head a little.
"I might not have time" I protest but he holds one hand up, pointing a finger at me seriously.
"You would make me do the same" he says, I sigh softly but nod, smiling more.
"Fiiiine, if I must" I say dramatically, he rolls his eyes and leans forward, kissing my forehead before he jumps to his feet and claps his hands.
"Excellent, you stay right here until I get back, or I may have to have Amy watch you" he says, I snort in amusement.
"I don't think she would stop me" I say and carefully lean back against the headboard, he playfully glares at me.
"She would if I asked her to" he says, I smile widely.
"You don't know Amy very well at all then" I joke and he scoffs.
"The one who would really stop me would be Rory, but he's not here now" I say softly and he rolls his eyes again before quickly leaving to go grab the meds for me, I sigh again and look around the room, getting bored instantly, I look up to the ceiling to the beautiful view of the cosmos outside, I smile a little and relax as much as I can, so glad to not have to worry about the Angels for a while now.
"Hey Sexy...is there any possible way to know when I will jump...?" I ask softly, only to get a soft sad hum in return, I nod a little.
"Well...maybe someday I'll figure it out...someday I'll find a way to control it maybe" I murmur to myself as I look around again, smiling as I see a few trinkets around the room, on shelves or the desk, I smile widely seeing a few of the Doctor's older Sonics, I glance to the door before I slowly move to the edge of the bed, throwing my legs over and taking a deep breath before I slowly stand, wincing as pain shoots down my legs.
I stay still for a few moments to let the pain pass, the Tardis humming worriedly around me, I smile a little "it's alright, I'm not pushing myself much" I reassure her before I slowly start to walk around the room, stretching my legs a little before I walk to the desk, gently picking up the 10th Doctor's sonic, smiling softly as I look it over gently, turning it around a few times.
I smile more as I turn it on, enjoying the sound as well as the feeling of the buzzing in my hands, I sigh as the sound of footsteps sounds outside the door, I gently set the sonic back in its place as the door opens behind me, I stay quiet as he comes in, now picking up the 3rd Doctor's sonic.
I hear him sigh behind me as he comes over "you are impossible" he grumbles, I set the sonic back down and smile at him softly.
"That's basically my job description now" I hum, he shakes his head but smiles a little and holds up the glass of water and the pills.
I gently take them and smile more, taking the pills with the water before I sigh softly.
"Thank you" I say and he nods, looking me over worriedly as I finish off the glass of water.
"Does standing cause any pain?" He asks, I pause for a moment as I set the glass on the desk, before shaking my head, even as a light pain shoots down my legs from my slight movements.
"No, I'm ok, only pain is when moving my back around" I say softly, even though he doesn't look very convinced.
However our conversation is cut short as the music once again starts up, soft and quiet but I knew it wouldn't last, I frown sadly and look to the Doctor again, he frowns as he knows whats happening.
"I hate leaving..." I murmur sadly, he sighs and nods, taking my hands in his, not wanting to hug me in case it could harm me further, I gently squeeze his hands tightly.
"Please be very careful, I think I know where you are off to, promise me you'll be careful, and tell me whats happened as soon as you arrive if I am there" he insists, I nod softly.
"I will, I promise, and you be careful too, and why not go talk with Amy, just...don't let her do anything stupid" I say pointedly, he nods and smiles a little.
"I will, I love you" he says, I nod again and step closer, gently pulling him into a kiss, he returns the kiss happily, one of his hands moving to my waist gently, I grip his suspender to pull him closer as the music gets louder.
I pull back to gently smile up at him "I love you too, more than you will probably ever know" I murmur, sending him affection and love through our connection, feeling him press back happily, I beam up at him gently as the music gets louder and louder, and my vision starts to blur around the edges, I close my eyes and I can feel the shift instantly, the warmth and comfortable hum of the Tardis disappearing.
Everything goes silent around me, and all sense of touch leaves besides the solid ground beneath my feet, I frown sadly and open my eyes to the blackness surrounding me, I sigh and rub my eyes a little before I look down to my left arm, a new tattoo forming just above the elbow on the inner part of my arm, I wince at the searing pain it leaves, forming into a small Weeping Angel, its face covered.
I grimace nervously 'doesn't the image of an angel become an Angel...? Maybe it won't here...I mean I have drawings of angels in my sketch book...' I sigh and rub my thumb over the tattoo before looking up and closing the connection.
I look down to my clothes to see I'm just in a pair of black jeans and a button up grey long sleeve shirt, which hides my bandaged back and arm, I sigh and close my eyes again, not bothering to see the clock change to minute 8.
After a few moments I can hear a loud alarm going off around me, I frown worriedly and open my eyes wide, looking around I see I'm in some sort of control room, filled with scientists all in white lab coats, I cover my ears and look around in fright.
'Where am I...? Come on! Stupid brain!' I quickly look around, my heart racing, I move to the side of the room to watch, hoping to not be noticed yet.
'Think. Think. Think. Think...' my heart racing faster and faster until I stiffen as I hear someone say something about a drill, my eyes widen in horror.
' Please no...' I start toward the door I hope leads out, hoping to not be stopped by anyone yet, and thankfully no one does so as I speed up, not caring that my feet were bare nor the pain in my back as I move faster.
I sigh in relief when I see Sergeant Benton "Benton!" I call, he turns quickly and his eyes widen slightly seeing me.
"Miss Rose, what on earth are you doing here?" He asks quickly, I glance around then back to him as I stop beside him "no time for that now, I need to speak with the Brigadier" I say seriously, he frowns.
"I'm sorry, he isn't here right now" I nod quickly.
"I know, but I know whats happening" I say quickly, but I stop when I see Liz coming down the hall toward us, I smile softly and relax a little, glad to know when I am now in the plot.
"Liz! Perfect timing, lets get the flow reversed" I say, she opens her mouth a little in shock before nodding, knowing we didn't have much time.
I follow her back into the control room as fast as possible, leaving poor Benton confused behind us, I silently follow Liz as she meets with two others, a man and woman, I glance around us nervously, I ignore as they discuss what to do, knowing they'd get it done, my worry turning to the Doctor now as the alarms stop.
I stay away from them, letting them work before I stop Liz quickly "I'm going to the Doctor" I say as she nods, smiling at me "I'll come too, we've got it reversed now" she says, I nod and we head off quickly, walking quickly to meet back up with the Brigadier outside the Doctor's garage space.
He looks to me with a smile "Rose, glad to see you've joined us"
I manage a small smile and nod "as am I Alistair, how is he doing?" I ask quickly as we head inside.
"He is still in a coma it would seem, and we don't know when he will wake" he explains, I nod, seeing the Doctor laying on a makeshift bed, I run over quickly, ignoring the shooting pains in my back and legs as I move, I gently feel his forehead then lean down, pressing my ear to his chest gently, listening to make sure both his hearts were working, I sigh in relief and stand up straight, wanting to stress my back as little as possible.
I gently lay my hand on his arm and look back to the other two "he should come around anytime now" I say softly, Alistair nods but Liz looks a bit worried.
"How can you be sure?" She asks, I smile softly.
"Remember Liz, I'm not from this world, I can see the future, or at least some of it since being in this world" I explain simply.
She slowly nods a little before our attention is drawn to the man unconscious beside me, I look down to see he's moving around a little, he was starting to wake up, I smile softly and gently squeeze his arm.
"Doctor? Are you alright?" Liz asks from beside me, he slowly opens his eyes tiredly, frowning a little as he seems to focus in on us after a moment.
"Liz...? Rose?" He mumbles softly, I nod as Alistair asks.
"How are you Doctor?" He looks to the man standing behind us.
"You know, you really do look better with that mustache" he comments, I smile and shake my head a little.
"It's alright Doctor, you're home this time...ok well home as in the right world" I say and he smiles a little before I help him sit up gently.
"Careful, you've been unconscious for a while" I say softly before gasping in surprise and pain as he suddenly pulls me down into a tight hug, so I'm nearly sitting on his lap, I gently wrap my arms around him to return the hug, just managing to hide the pain and push through it.
"You're alright" he murmurs more to himself than anyone else, I frown a little and pull back enough to look up into his eyes as I was now sitting on the bed next to him.
"What happened? Was...was I there?" I ask worriedly, he nods, seeming to scan my face over and over before he reaches up and cups my cheek softly, I instinctively lean into his touch a little, keeping my eyes locked with his.
"It was awful Rose...you didn't know who I was" he murmurs, I smile a little sadly.
"I'm sorry, I wish I had arrived earlier so I could have helped you out there, but I'm alright, and I know you" I say soothingly, he sighs a little and nods, his shoulders relaxing a little as he smiles down at me, running his thumb softly over my cheekbone.
"You have no idea how happy I am to hear that" he says softly, I smile more up to him, my heart fluttering a little.
"I can take a guess, but right now you need to go and stop that drill" I say and his eyes widen a little as he remembers, nodding quickly he jumps to his feet only to nearly fall over, I stand and grab his arm quickly to keep him upright, watching him worriedly as the other two in the room had been watching worried and confused.
"Where did you go?" Asks Liz once the Doctor is stable on his feet again, I look to her as he responds.
"Same time, same place, only a different dimension" he explains.
I nod a little to confirm his story and he explains more of everything but I ignore it for now, trying to figure out a way to explain I couldn't help much further, knowing I couldn't do very much as I had little to no knowledge of computers of this time.
' Perhaps I can just ask Alistair to have me driven back home...'
I come out of my thoughts and look up to see the Doctor looking down at me in concern, he must have said something but as he opens his mouth to speak again someone knocks on the doors to the garage, we all look over and Liz runs over to open it with the small remote.
In comes Sir Keith Gold, arm bandaged up and in a sling around his neck, I frown a little as the Doctor moves closer to me, moving a little bit in front of me as if to protect me, I gently lay my hand on his back softly to let him know I'm there and that I wouldn't move.
"Sir Keith" the Doctor greets.
"My dear fellow, I see you've come back to us after all" the man greets back.
"So you're not dead" the Doctor states, seeming to try and figure everything out, all of the differences between both worlds.
"No, but I came very close to it though" the man replies.
"Why? What happened?" Asks Alistair.
"Car crash"
"But you're not dead" the Doctor says again, I nod a little and move to stand beside him a little, looking up to him worriedly.
"Yes, he's alive, there are a few stark differences between there and here, but you must get going to stop all of this" I say softly as he looks down to me quickly, nodding before he pauses and frowns, looking into my eyes with concern.
"You keep saying 'you', are you already leaving so soon?" He asks sadly, I shake my head a little and sigh softly, dropping my hand to my side.
"No...I just don't have the energy or will power to go with you all, I...I promised I'd tell you when I'm injured...and I am, but before you say anything more, I will be fine in time, I am just exhausted and sore" I insist as his eyes had widened in worry.
He looks me over quickly "what's happened? When were you injured?" He asks worriedly, I gently take his hands to stop him from rambling, grimacing a little as everyone around us had gone silent as they listened, I sigh again.
"As I said, I'm alright, just sore, and I can tell you more later, but for now I am safe and well, and you must fix this whole mess, I'd like to remain here if possible" I explain, he nods quickly, squeezing my hands gently before he pulls away and grabs his cloak, coming back over and gently wrapping it around my shoulders, I smile softly up at him.
"Thank you, now be careful, I promise I won't do anything or go anywhere until you come back" I promise and he nods, still looking worried but I smile more, looking to the others, noticing both Liz and Alistair smirking a little, a light blush warms my face but I try to brush it off, smiling at them softly.
"Go with him, and Alistair, I can promise you, the Doctor is completely sound of mind, now you all must go with him to stop the drilling" I insist, Alistair looks a little exasperated but Liz nods softly, those three leave the garage but the Doctor stops in the doorway, looking back to me again worriedly.
I smile reassuringly at him "don't forget to use the fire extinguishers" I say, he manages a small worried smile before nodding then he's off, the door closing behind him, I sigh tiredly and slowly sit on the makeshift bed tiredly and pulling the warm cloak closer around myself, I smile tiredly and close my eyes, enjoying the warmth and the scent of the Doctor covering the fabric.
I slowly lay down carefully on the bed and close my eyes, laying on my side so I didn't hurt my back further, I start to doze off and am soon in deep sleep.
The next thing I know I can hear the doors opening near me, I keep my eyes closed tiredly, still half asleep as I curl up a little further into the cloak around me, I listen as a pair of footsteps enters the garage and comes over to the small makeshift bed, and soon I feel a weight pressing down on the side of the mattress as the person sits on the edge of the bed.
I sigh contentedly as a large soft hand gently brushes some hair from my face then softly strokes my cheek, I lean into the cool touch a little before slowly opening my eyes tiredly, I smile softly up at the Doctor as he was leaning over me a little, smiling tenderly.
I relax more and rub my eyes a little, trying to contain a yawn "everything's fixed?" I ask softly, he nods, resting his hand gently on my arm.
"Yes, all fixed and taken care of, the drill has stopped and most everyone is alright" he confirms, I nod a little.
"Good...I don't wanna die by sudden volcano" I hum as I slowly sit up, wincing as my back stings and that same painful jolt goes down my legs, he frowns and gently steadies me, his eyes full of concern.
"Alright, I believe its time you told me whats happened to you" he says seriously.
"Must I? I'm bandaged up, and I cant really tell you what happened anyways" but even as I speak I can see I won't win this, he was far too determined.
He raises an eyebrow at me questioningly and I groan softly and shake my head "someday I'll win...ok" I give in, knowing I would never hear the end of it if I didn't.
"Well...first I believe I have finally figured out what I am...or at least, a part of it" I say softly, watching him for his reaction, his eyes widen slightly in concern but also curiosity.
"I'm...well, I think my body is still somewhat human, but...well, you know how Tardis's have souls right? Their matrix, the living mind" I say and he nods, looking a little confused as to why that should matter.
I sigh softly, pulling the cloak tighter around myself.
"It would seem...well, I am a Tardis...or at least my soul is..." I explain, his eyes only widening more as he stares at me, I blush a little and look down, my heart racing.
'Would this change how he saw me...? Did I just mess this all up? Was he supposed to know so early?'
I stiffen as I'm brought out of my thoughts by a gentle hand under my chin, gently guiding my face back towards him, he's smiling widely now, his eyes sparkling with curiosity and happiness, only causing my blush to deepen.
"Rose...that is incredible, how did you find out?" He asks curiously, I smile a little, relaxing.
"It was sort of on accident I think, I met...well, I spoke to the Tardis, your Tardis, and she called me her sister, then told me" I shrug a little before gasping a little at the shooting pain covering my back, his eyes instantly darken in worry.
"Where are you hurt?" He asks quickly, changing tone and topic quickly.
I grimace a little "on my back..." I say softly and I take off the cloak and gently set it aside, hoping to not have to tell him about my arm as well, slowly standing as he watches me closely, I turn so my back is to him and I raise my shirt just enough for him to see the bandages covering my back, he frowns and stands quickly, looking down at the bandages worriedly.
"See? Nothing to worry about, its just a few cuts, and it didn't mess with the scar already there much" I explain, half lying, before stiffening as I feel his fingers softly brushing against the gauze.
"how did this happen?" He demands seriously, I frown a little and push my shirt back into place and turn to look up at him.
"You know I can't tell you that" I insist as we meet eyes.
"Rose, you must, or I can't help you" he says but I smile a little at that.
"Doctor, I don't need help, I'm already all patched up" I say, gently taking his hands in mine, wanting to reassure him.
"Can you tell me anything?" He asks, sounding a bit defeated now, I pause before nodding a little.
"Yes, I can say it was an extraordinary amount of energy that did it, but again, I am fine now, just sore" I insist, gently squeezing his hands in mine.
He finally sighs and gently pulls my hands up, softly kissing the back of each, only bringing my blush back full force, I lower my head to hide my face.
"You don't need to worry, I really am alright, I just need to rest and not run around too much for a while" I say softly, looking back up to him, smiling softly.
"Must you be so stubborn?" He half teases, I smile a little up at him, relaxing more.
"Yes, because if I wasn't, you'd get away with far too much" I tease back, he chuckles and shakes his head.
After that I sit back down on the bed and he gets to work on the Tardis console again happily, I smile softly as I watch him for a while, enjoying seeing him so into his work.
I didn't even realize I had actually fallen asleep again until I was being shaken awake gently by the Doctor, I look up at him tiredly and I can't help but snort in amusement when I see his clothes are filthy and he doesn't look happy, I sit up slowly and he groans softly.
"don't you say a thing" he says grumpily, I look past him to see a very amused Liz, I giggle a little and slowly stand as he goes to Bessie.
"Tried to run again and now covered in garbage" I tease and he rolls his eyes.
"I was merely testing to see if she could fly" he says, almost in a pouting tone, I smile more and shake my head.
"You are ridiculous" I hum softly.
It's not long before we all are driven back to UNIT HQ, I sigh happily when I step into the lab, the Tardis in the corner as always, I smile more and go to her, softly patting her wood, feeling her humming and vibrating under my touch.
I head inside happily, going for my room quietly, once there I change into some clean dark blue joggers, keeping the same button up shirt for now, and I pull on my coat slowly, wincing as it causes me to stretch my back and arm out
I sigh and look at myself in the mirror, seeing my hair was so long now, and still silver as ever, I run my fingers through it for a moment then I look to my face, frowning a little to see I looked more pale than normal, making my freckles stick out a little more than normal, as they were usually nearly invisible.
I gently touch my cheek a little before sighing and shaking my head, not enjoying seeing myself, I walk away from it toward the bed, grabbing my phone and wallet, stuffing them into my pockets before I sit on the bed tiredly.
'Do I have time to rest and eat..? I sure hope so' I stand again before heading toward the kitchen.
As I eat, my meds bottle appears in front of me, making me cringe a little to realize its been a while since I took them, so I take them quickly before finishing my food, as I step out into the hallway I pause, wondering if I should go see the Doctor or just head straight to bed.
I decide to inform the Doctor of what I'd do so I head toward the console room quietly, hoping I wouldn't have to jump just yet.
As I step out of the Tardis I see the Doctor at his lab table, I smile fondly as I watch him for a moment, but I jump as he speaks "you really must learn to sneak around silently my dear" he says as he continues working, I smile more.
"Who said I was sneaking?" I ask casually as I wander over to his side, gently leaning on the table, being careful to not move it so as to not mess with his work.
"You came to the doors quietly and stopped to watch me for some reason, I assume you didn't want me to know you were there for some time, did you need something? Or perhaps you were merely watching me out of curiosity" he responds easily, I shake my head a little.
"I don't need anything, I just wanted to say I was going to head to bed and try to get some more rest, and I didn't want to just disappear on you without saying anything" I explain as he sets his tools down and looks to me.
"Well thank you, my dear. Now you go and rest, I will come and check up on you soon" he says, I nod and hesitate before I lean over and gently kiss his cheek before quickly heading back into the Tardis, my cheeks burning and heart fluttering.
I get to my room quickly before taking off my coat and laying down tiredly.
For the next few days I am able to relax and just hang around the Tardis and lab, so I'd started to bring my books out to the lab and I'd sit near the Doctor, watching him work or reading quietly, and sometimes he'd ask for my help, which I'd happily give.
But the nights were becoming worse and worse, nightmares plaguing me constantly now, which only caused me to try avoiding sleep as much as possible, and I tried to hide that from the Doctor, knowing he would not be happy.
I groan softly as I stare at the empty page of my sketchbook in front of me on the desk, I drop my head onto it, closing my eyes 'I need something else to focus on...'
I soon get an idea and I pull out my phone and open my texts, smiling as I open the text with Jack.
'Hey big guy, you open for that romp around Seattle?'
It only takes a few moments before I get a reply.
'You doing better then?'
'Yup! Well I'm still roughed up but I'm a lot better now, and I need to get away from my room for a while, so thought it was the perfect time'
'Sounds good to me then! Where should I pick you up?'
I pause for a moment 'I'm not sure actually...you can't come here, too dangerous, and we can't let this Doctor see you...how about I get a ride into London and we can meet up there?'
'Sounds like a plan short stuff!'
We go over the details of when I am before I get up and grab my coat and pull on my boots, glancing in the mirror to ensure all of my bandages were hidden before I head out of the Tardis and towards the door, however someone clears their throat behind me, I pause and look back to see the Doctor looking curious as he leans on his lab table, his arms crossed in front of him.
"Where are you off to, my dear?" He asks curiously.
I smile softly "I'm heading off to meet up with a friend" I say simply but he raises his eyebrow.
"A friend? In this time? Is this someone I cannot know yet?" He asks, I nod again.
"Yup, I'm sorry, but I won't be gone too long, and before you ask, I am feeling better today, and you can trust this man to keep me safe" I declare seriously, he frowns a little.
"Rose. I don't think this is such a good idea" he says softly "what happens if I cannot find you? Or if you need me and can't contact me?" He asks.
I smile a little and pull my phone out "you should have my phone number, and I have yours, and again, the man I'm going with will keep me safe, he always has" I insist.
I can see the worry and possibly something else there in his eyes, was that jealousy?
I smile warmly at him "I will be back before dinner, I'll make sure of it" I say calmly.
He finally sighs softly "alright, but I want you to call me if you need anything at all, would you like me to drive you?" He asks, I smile more and shake my head.
"No, thank you, I'll just get one of the soldiers to drive me" I say softly.
He shakes his head and grabs his cloak "no, I insist, I have to get out of the lab for a while anyways" he says as he comes to stand beside me, I sigh a little but nod, smiling up at him.
"Alright, but remember, you cannot meet him yet" I say seriously.
He smiles softly and nods "yes, I know, the timelines and all that" he hums, gently taking my hand in his as he pulls me out of the lab and toward the garage, I giggle a little and follow happily, gently squeezing his hand in mine.
As we hop into Bessie I smile wider, my heart beating in excitement.
'My first real adventure with Jack! I hope it all goes well'
I am so sorry I haven't posted in so long! I've been getting progressively sicker as the month goes on, so I'm spending a lot of time resting, thankfully it isn't anything bad, just a normal awful cold I get each year.
Now back to the right topic, the next chapter will be about her adventure in America with Jack! I can't wait to write it!
And then after that, I am debating whether to put in one of my own stories, or an actual episode, what do you think?
I'd love to know your thoughts! And thank you to every single one of you for reading and reviewing! And the follows and favs!
It makes me so happy to know others enjoy my crazy ramblings XD.
Well I'll let you go. Again, thank you all so much! I love every one of you to bits!
~Rose~
