Warning! Body horror and angst! (And a bit more swearing)

To atrhoads05: Hey! Welcome back!! And no it isn't really based off anything but my own imagination really, and a dream of mine, though the Beasts are based off a few different creatures! I took inspiration from the alien suits in the movie Attraction, a creature called the Future Predator from a show called Primeval, and Wildmutt from the show Ben Ten! (I had a lot of fun designing the creatures! Pics of them will be on my Twitter if you wanna go see them!) also! I did just hear about the book! I'll have to look into it!

To SerahSanguine: Thank you! And you won't have to wait too long! next chapters going to be fun!

Thank you to everyone who has followed/favorited! It means the world to me and I love you all so much!

And remember! If you wanna see my art and designs for the Beasts and some of the locations go to my Twitter rosie_writing , I am also posting stuff just for this story under the hashtag #TheBeastsOfChimera in case you just want to see art and nothing more!

Alright, now with the self advertising out of the way, onto this chapter!

The Beasts Of Chimera

'Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit! What do I do?' I start to panic, the pain from the shot in my arm was starting to turn into a horrible deep ache, pressing into the bone, I grip the chain again with my hands, pulling on it hard to try and break it, gritting my teeth.

'I have at most 10 minutes before what ever is going to happen starts, how do I get out of the chains and get that thing out in time...?'

I look around myself, looking for anything possible I could use, but nothing is within my reach, I look to the tray of chips again and I move as close to it as I can, trying to reach the cart its on with my foot, I manage to hook it and I drag it closer quickly, looking over the chips, searching for anything I could possibly use, but they are all just blank little green metal microchips.

I huff and kick the cart over angrily "who ever the hell is in charge better come here soon!" I yell loudly, angry and wanting to have my questions answered, though I knew that was a slim chance.

I stomp onto the chips angrily, ignoring the sharp pains going down my legs, as well as the pain of stepping barefoot onto metal and fiberglass chips, snapping many before I hear the door be slammed open, I smirk as the person in the hazmat suit rushes in with two of the soldiers or guards.

As they get close I stomp on the rest, snapping or breaking them all as I smirk widely at them "probably shouldn't have put them so close" I snark, only to get the butt of a gun slammed into my stomach, I cough in pain, falling to my knees and gasping for air.

Above me the people talk in a quick angry tone, though I can't really make out what they are saying as my head pounds painfully, I lean on the table a little, still gasping a bit as I glare up at the people above me.

"You gonna answer my questions now?" I ask angrily, but again they ignore me and start to pick up the remains of the chips, I smirk more and kick my leg out, kicking the hazmat guy face first onto the ground, I smile triumphantly as I hear the helmets visor crack loudly, the man inside instantly starts screaming and writhing in either panic or pain, I couldn't tell, but the soldiers panic and get the man off the ground and rush him out of the room.

I sigh before slowly getting to my feet, my stomach still hurting but I could breath a little easier now, I smile seeing they had left the door open in their panic.

'Ok...all I have to do now is remain conscious...how the hell will I manage that if I turn into what ever kind of alien wild mutt thing the other guy turned into...' I pull again on the chains only to wince at the pain as the metal had rubbed the skin underneath raw.

Giving in for now I lean against the table tiredly, I close my eyes as I can feel that deep aching starting to spread through my entire body, the scars on my back starting to protest heavily as well.

I gasp as a sudden sharp pain shoots throw my chest like a wave, I grip the table as I stare wide eyed at nothing in particular, my heart starting to race painfully fast, the pain starts to hit me in waves, before becoming a constant in my chest, radiating down through my limps and up into my head, I close my eyes to try and remain calm but then there's a horrible snapping sound, and I'm on the ground again.

My shoulders were starting to shake, my grip on the edge of the table bruising, my knuckles white as a sheet.

I gag out a horrible groan, I could feel something moving in my chest, and suddenly I can't open my eyes, even as I try, and I do try, over and over but nothing happens, I whimper in terror, the snapping and groaning sounding louder and louder as the pain mounts continuously.

I try to speak, to call out for help, for anything, but my mouth won't open, and suddenly I can't breath, I try gasping in air but nothing comes in, only causing my panic to worsen, then there's all of my limps snap loudly at once, starting to elongate, I could feel the fingers on my hands fusing into three large claws, my legs lengthening, and stretching, toes fusing into two large claws.

I pull my arms down and I can hear the chains and handcuffs clattering to the floor, I scratch at my chest desperately, at my throat, trying to find a way to get oxygen into my lungs, until finally painful slices open along my neck, I gasp in air through the slits, panting and shaking, praying for this all to be over.

But then that pain in my chest grows exponentially and I manage out a gargled scream through the gill like slits, I slam my claws against the tile floor, hearing them crack and chip under the force as I can feel my chest ripping open, ribs shoving through and changing shape, two smaller arms forming down my sides from my main larger arms, the second arms press shaking against my chest as it closes back up slowly.

As the pain slowly starts to recede I flinch in surprise as I realize I could see...ok, well, sort of see, everything looked oddly blue and purple, I hesitate shakily before slowly raising my large front claw, raising it up to look at it, my heart drops realizing its glowing yellow and orange, I very carefully run my claw over my head.

Completely bare, nothing there but a skull, I move the claws slowly down my neck before stopping and whimpering as the claw brushes against the five slotted gill/sensors there, I drop the claw quickly before I look around as best I can, details of things pretty blurred with the blue and purple coloring, though I could see some things radiated heat, the lights above me more orange than blue.

'Ok...still sentient, nice to know...and Infrared sight, not bad, just weird...' I look down at myself again before I slowly stand up on all fours, my smaller arms slowly hanging down tiredly, a cold shiver runs down my spine and I hesitate before slowly trying to move the smaller arms, they flex out a little, very sensitive and sore, but not painfully so, I sigh, although its more a huff from the gills than anything.

I slowly look around the room, glad I was a lot taller than the table, as I could see the door was open still, if I could I'd be smiling as I make my way to the door, a little clumsily, walking on all fours is so strange.

As I get to the door I hesitate, waiting and listening, though I can hear something it seems far off so I slowly step out into the long dark hospital like hallway, looking down both sides seems to show nothing yet, just cold blues and blacks, the only other color comes from the few lights spread around the ceiling in no real pattern, all having faint orange and red coloring.

I huff softly before starting down the left hallway quickly, away from the distant sounds, however with each step the loud scratch of my claws against the floors sounds, echoing down the hallway in both directions, so I speed up a little, having a hard time getting traction on the floor as I go.

My heart starts to race as I hear a door behind me open, I speed up more, scrabbling a little on the floor as there's a shout from behind me, my heart pumping I skid around a corner of the hallway, slamming into the wall in my too quick turn before I continue on.

'Come on! There's gotta be an exit somewhere here!' I think as I run, only to have a cart suddenly shoved in front of me from an open door, I slam into it full force with a loud deep growling moan, crushing my small arms in the crash, I slide a few feet away as the cart hits the ground on its side, its contents strewn all over the floor, I pant shakily as I struggle to get back up, cradling both smaller arms up against my chest to try and protect them from another accident.

But as I manage to get up I'm soon tackled by someone landing hard on my sore back, trying to hold me on the ground, I growl deeply and throw the person off, sending them into the wall, it was one of the soldiers.

He draws his gun quickly, stopping me dead in my tracks, panting shaking through my gills, even if I couldn't see properly, I could certainly tell the shape of the cold metal gun, if I could glare this dude would have been at least a little nervous, but he just gets to his feet, I could see the pulsing heat of his heart in his chest, he starts yelling something but I couldn't understand it.

I stay still, not wanting to end up shot, and soon more soldiers come running down the hall, and as soon as there is a group of them, a large metal rope is thrown over my head, my gills flare with a deep breath out and I start to fight, panicking as the rope tightens and guns press into my sides.

'Doctor...please find me soon' I whimper mentally before they start to literally drag me along the floor, though I yelp and jump to my feet as a shot hits the ground right behind me, I growl a little but follow the soldier shakily, my whole body shaking now from my adrenaline crash, and the exhaustion of transforming into whatever this is...

I'm soon dragged down darker and dimmer hallways, the air getting noticeably cooler and the strong smell of salt starts to fill the air, my stomach sinking 'is it salt water...? Are we near an ocean? Please don't let it be the ocean' I plead mentally.

After a few minutes and me starting to struggle again I get hit in the back with one of those cattle prod like sticks, growling as it sends a shock of electricity through me, then they open a large swinging metal door in front of me, I stop dead in my tracks even as they try to get me through the door.

All I can see in the massive room is many more like me, maybe even a hundred, heat signatures all looking mostly the same shape, many hiding in the corners, some smaller ones, probably younger, huddling in with the large ones, others in groups and near a huge cold metal wall, which I assume to be a door of some kind.

They manage to wrestle me the rest of the way in before they take the metal rope off my neck, I quickly turn and go to try and swipe at them, but I stiffen as I feel that I now have a gun pressed to my neck from my left.

"I don't think so Beast" the man growls, having a strange accent I couldn't place, I face him cautiously but slowly step back, not wanting to be shot, then the soldiers file out the door and it slams shut loudly, audibly locking, echoing around the massive room, causing me to wince once again.

After watching the door for a few moments I turn back toward the room, which I now realize must be some kind of old abandoned salt mine, as the entire place smelled strongly of salt, but no water, I shiver a little and slowly make my way down a dirt ramp into the groups of other Beasts around me.

Some watch me, others cower away in fear, some seem to be asleep in a large group a ways away, I look around at everyone around me 'they don't seem to be aggressive...could they all be like me? Still us inside? It must be' I shiver again as the cold air seems to only grow colder, some around me huddling closer together.

I slowly wander past a few of the groups quietly, making sure not to touch anyone else, as I walk I start to get more used to being on all fours, and keeping my second arms tucked up against my chest so they wouldn't catch on anything.

After some time of watching the others I realize I need to find a way out of here for all of us, so I quickly speed up, following the walls, searching for any ways of escape, I do manage to find a few doors, but they are all locked tight, or seem to have been welded shut from both sides, so as I head back to the area I was brought into first, I see the large metal wall again, I go up to it and press a claw against it, wincing a little at the cold feel of the metal.

I look up to see its coming from a black cold slot in the ceiling, meaning it was definitely a door, one that seemed to open upwards, I pace in front of it, looking for any tiny possible crack or crevice that I could maybe get my claws under.

'Claws...how am I not freaking out yet...? Must be the need to find a way out...freaking out can come later...I hope...' I sadly don't find anything so I slowly lay down in front of the door, facing inwards into the cave like place, watching all of the others as I try to keep myself as calm as possible, knowing I needed to conserve my strength.

After what feels like days, but is really only about an hour of me quietly panicking, the main door that I had been led through before, opens loudly, two soldiers stand guard at the door with guns, while a third man, a tall thin alien, looking a little like a rat mixed with a human and a porcupine, steps into the room, his hands folded behind his back, wearing a very expensive looking suit.

"Listen up! All of you!" The rat/porcupine man yells out in a loud scratchy annoying voice, I flinch as the sounds echo loudly around the room, I slowly stand, watching the heat signatures closely.

"It is nearly noon! And I want you all to be on your best behavior! Now, for the newcomers, a word of advice, though you probably won't need it or be able to use it with the guests we have today" he snickers creepily.

"You will be let out in 2 minutes, and you will run, and hide, and try to survive, if you make it to dusk you will be brought back here, then tomorrow, the same will happen again, if you survive for a whole week, we will let you go" he says loudly, I slowly start to move closer to him, listening closely.

"Though I doubt many of you will survive, now be ready for The Hunt!" He yells the last bit before he slams his fist onto a button by the door and the entire place shakes and heat lamps start turning on and off around us all on the walls and ceiling, my sensors start to get overloaded and I fall to the ground, trying carefully to cover the gill like sensors with my claws, whining in pain as the others around me drop and do the same.

After I hear the door close the lights all shut off and stay off, I shaking get back up, my head pounding from the overwhelming lights and heat, before the shaking happens again and I turn to see the huge metal door shaking as the mechanism gets ready to raise it.

Suddenly I'm being shoved and slammed into as all of the others around me try to get to the door first, I manage to dodge only a few, one even bowling me over onto my back entirely, sending pain shooting up the still tender scars.

I scramble to my feet, looking after them all as they scratch and scrabble to get out the door first, many squeezing under it before its even half way open, I look behind myself to see more of the guards with guns coming toward us, I get up quickly and follow the others as the soldiers behind us start shooting into the air to deepen our fear.

As I make it out after the hoard I get hit with a wave of heat, tropical like heat, and as I look around, I can make out that I'm in some kind of massive jungle, and the only signs of habitation besides the large mine behind us, being a very old and warn stone pathway, most of the stones eroded away or destroyed under the panicked claws of everyone who was brought here.

I start to run after the group, only to trip and collapse into the bushes, I groan and get up shakily, panting through the gills and looking around, and as I face the mine I can make out a huge building above it on the top of a cliff, and just under the building is written in heat so we could see it, a timer, counting down quicker than I would have liked.

I turn back around and start off again, slower this time, but still moving quickly, following the stampeding hoard of terrified creatures, and it seems the faster I run the more scared I become, a horrible realization just now hitting me.

'The guests they have today...? No, this isn't...it is! It's a damned hunting reserve! And we are the prey!' My heart rate spikes as I mentally curse myself for being so slow minded today, my hearing growing a little fuzzy in my panic as I scramble along the path, only to stop dead in my tracks, skidding to a halt as I hear something even worse, something that made me feel sick to my stomach.

Crying, choking sobs, I face the direction its in only to see a ways away, a small creature, much like what ever I am, only smaller, much much younger, its curled itself up in a small clearing, shaking and whimpering in fear.

For a second time is frozen, everything around me stops moving and making noise, the only thing I can focus on is the child, then just as quickly, everything speeds back up, and a loud horn can be heard from behind us, up on top of the cliff.

I make a break for it, sprinting back toward the cave, and back toward the child, my heart pounding so loudly I couldn't hear much of anything, but as I get to the clearing I can see shadows from a ways away, up in the sky, I slide to beside the child and scoop them up carefully with my smaller arms, cradling the terrified kid to my chest as I look up, seeing the heat signatures of at least 7 or 8 people on hover vehicles high above us.

The next second I take off, keeping the child held protectively to my chest, heart pounding and child clinging to my arms holding it desperately, still stifling its sobs and gut-wrenching whimpers.

Third Person POV.

As the Beasts are all being rounded up from separate cells and warehouses, the small group of seven continue their trek towards the salt mines, the Doctor continuing to scan around, especially when he notices something off the nearly invisible path, he walks to it quickly without saying anything, the others however, stop and watch him as he grimaces and crouches down.

On the jungle floor lays the gruesome remains of some kind of creature, having four legs and two arms, though its head was barren of any features, the wound that killed it being a huge blaster shot to the back, it had blown a hole through its back and left the poor thing to crawl away to die, he frowns sadly.

"Is this one of the Beasts...?" He asks, hearing an affirmative click from Mayhorn.

He slowly stands after scanning the body, then he sticks his sonic back into his pocket and makes his way back to the path and to the others, a grim dark look on his face, his eyes showing none of the calm curiousness he had when he first met the group, all that was left was anger.

The group around him start to get a little nervous, this man they had only just met, someone who was so easily happy and curious, was now radiating waves of anger, the scariest anger any of them had ever seen.

The Doctor continues on down the path quickly, his hands in his trouser pockets to keep himself from fidgeting in worry, the others quickly following behind him, though they keep a bit of a distance.

After a good 10 minutes of them walking silently, the Doctor decides to speak.

"I swear to you...I will stop this, I will end all of this tonight" he says fiercely, glancing back at the others behind him, Mayhorn nods, Julia manages a small sincere smile, knowing he's completely serious.

The other four just watch on in silence, either too nervous to say anything, or not having anything else to add.

He nods again before continuing on, taking long strides, his anger and fear only growing, seeing the carcass back there was only making him feel sick, the realization that his Rose could be one of them now, could be being hunted at this exact moment, was making him feel like he had been punched in the stomach repeatedly.

The Time Lord continues on down the path quickly, both of his hearts beating heavily in his chest as he begins making up a few different plans on how this could work.

Perhaps he would barge in and get everything shut down with the sonic, or he could go in peacefully and negotiate... he shakes his head on that thought, knowing they wouldn't take any offer of mercy, not with what they have been shown to do.

After only a few more steps they all stop and stiffen, as very loud horns sound from far ahead and above them, the others raise their guns quickly "the noon hunt is on" Aza says nervously, tightly gripping her small gun.

The Doctor looks around before finding a fallen tree that was high off the ground, he jumps up onto it and looks through the jungle as far as he could see, his heart racing.

"How long do the Beasts have before the Hunters follow?" He asks quickly.

Julia grimaces a little "a minute at the very most" she says honestly.

A cold chill shoots up his spine, only a minute at most...he keeps watching and after only a few moments he can see movement coming towards them, lots of movement, he jumps down and grabs the arms of Aza and Juno, pulling them and motions for the others to follow as they get behind the fallen tree quickly, crouching down and trying to hide themselves so they wouldn't get trampled.

The ground starts to shake and soon there are massive Beasts flying over their hiding spot, all different colors, some having fins, others with fur, others with spikes, and others with nothing but soft fragile skin, but they all had the same sort of bodily shape, the same four front arms, the same featureless head.

The beasts are all in a panic, running into each other and barely making it over some obstacles, some even tripping and sliding to a stop before frantically getting back to their feet and running again.

The Doctor watches in heartbreak, seeing the absolute fear in them, seeing the pain and terror was so strong he could feel it, could taste it like a sour taste in the air.

One Beast trips over the trunk of the fallen tree they are hiding behind, flying over the top of it and landing a few feet away, as it gets up it notices them, the large bright blue Beast growls loudly, getting ready to charge them, Mayhorn stands quickly and shoots his gun towards it, sending it running again as the Doctor jumps to his feet, shoving the gun barrel down angrily.

"Don't shoot! They aren't going to hurt us" he snaps angrily, his hearts racing.

Julia frowns as she joins them "they will if they get the chance...being that afraid, you become more Beast than person" she says softly, the Doctor sighs softly and shakes his head, looking at them both seriously.

"I don't care, you're only scaring them more with the guns, no more shooting unless it's absolutely necessary" he snaps before looking after the still fleeing Beasts, his hearts sinking, wondering if she was one of them that had passed.

On an off chance he opens the connection, but again, its cold and empty, he sighs softly before they all hear the same humming they heard from the hover bikes, they all quickly hide behind the trunk, one of the boys bringing out the same tarp as before and tossing it over them all for safety.

Soon more hover bikes shoot past, flying a good ten or more feet off the ground, a large party of the hunters whooping and jeering as they chase the poor creatures deeper into the dense jungle interior.

After everyone had passed the Doctor stands up and looks after them, pushing past the tarp, his anger only mounting, seeing those men and women, chasing the Beasts, like they didn't care, didn't care what or who they were, they just wanted sport, it didn't matter to them who they hurt.

He clenches his fists tightly, his knuckles turning white as he tries to keep from doing something stupid, something he knew he'd regret, he knew his Rose wouldn't want him to do.

He sighs softly and his shoulders slump a little, his mind going to her, worrying she could be hurt, or get killed by those hunters, he makes up his mind then, he was going to shut those all down, before she could get hurt any further.

He looks back to the group behind himself "we are going to shut this down, right now" he says and with that he takes off running toward where the horns had come from, knowing the mine wasn't far, and he wanted to end this now.

As the rest of the group speeds up to follow, their own breaths muffle the sound of something charging toward them through the brush and the trees, making a dangerously fast beeline for them.
