Hey everyone, very, VERY sorry for the late update. Exams having me messed up at the moment. hope you enjoy this chapter!
Chapter 13: Museum, Cake and the "Date"
A week passed. Akira looked at herself in the mirror. She looked normal enough. Akira sighed. It doesn't help that Ayame and Yui have been spamming her with heart emojis.
Akira clapped her face and fixed her hair.
"It's fine!" Akira thought to herself, "Today's gonna be great!"
Azusa, Ritsu, Mio, Mugi and Yui were hanging out in Ritsu and Mio's apartment.
Ritsu groaned and melted on the table.
"I can't help but feel like I'm forgetting something," Ritsu droned.
"Like what?" Mugi asked, placing a cup of tea in front of Ritsu.
Azusa narrowed her eyes at her senpai's behaviour and coughed.
"Maybe it's the fact that Mugi-senpai, your guest, is serving you, the host, tea," Azusa whispered softly.
"If I made the tea, there's a high chance something screws up," Ritsu laughed.
Mio looked up from scrolling through her phone.
"Ritsu, think," Mio said slowly, "What important event in your life takes place in the month of June…"
Ritsu's eyes widened as she stood up from her seat in a moment of realisation.
"Oh yes! Paul McCartney is having his birthday in five days!" Ritsu eureka'd.
Mio sighed, "Satoshi is having his birthday next Saturday."
"Oh yeah, right…" Ritsu laughed sheepishly.
"Ooh," Yui said, "Didn't you say you wanted to give him something special for his birthday after he gave you those earpieces for your birthday a few months ago?"
Ritsu looked at Yui in bewilderment, "How do you remember something so specifi-"
"So what did you get him?" Azusa asked.
Ritsu laughed, "I think being his sister is already a great prese-"
"She forgot about his birthday," Mio deadpanned.
"Shit and I promised him too! What should I do? I'm currently short of cash!" Ritsu panicked.
"What about baking cake for him?" Mugi suggested.
"That would work!" Ritsu quickly said, "C'mon Mio, let's get the ingredients start baki-"
"You're on your own," Mio smiled, "I'm visiting the museum, they just opened a music exhibition last week."
"What?! And you didn't invite me?!" Ritsu pouted, "Can I go?"
"Bake the cake," Mio replied.
"You evil little-"
"I'll help you if you want," Mugi offered, "I'm pretty sure I'm good at baking."
Ritsu clasped Mugi's hands, "Thank you, thank you Mugi-sama! See Mio, this is how a good friend should be like!"
Mio looked unimpressed, "I don't think you should judge how good of a friend I am when how good you are of a sister is debated."
Ritsu stuck her tounge out to the bassist.
"I'll join too!" Yui offered.
"Yes, but don't eat the ingredients," Mugi giggled.
"You coming Azusa?" Ritsu held her hand out to Azusa.
Azusa was looking at the museum Mio talked about on her phone.
"What?" Azusa said, "Oh, I'll sit this one out, I'm quite interested in this music exhibition."
"Great, we can go together," Mio smiled at her kouhai.
"Sure!" Azusa replied.
"How boring," Ritsu scoffed dramatically while turning to the other two, "Let's bake a cake!"
"Yosh~" Mugi and Yui replied, saluting.
Akira swayed back and forth. She arrived at the mall half and hour early. The guitarist was looking around, seemingly trying to spot Maeda.
"Poor girl," Ayame sighed, sipping on her bubble tea. Sachi and Ayame had decided to spy on Akira to see if the date would go well.
"Cut her some slack, she's going to be fine," the bassist scolded, "I mean, I hope everything will be fine."
At that very moment, Maeda appeared, approaching a stunned Akira, with a woman clinging to his arm.
"Oh snap," Ayame said, "this guy's taken."
"U-uh, I'm sure it's just his sister!" Sachi replied.
Ayame looked at Sachi incredulously, "Bitch, what kind of sister hangs to her brother like that?!"
Sachi and Ayame weren't the only ones freaking out however.
"Hi senpai! Uh, who's this?" Akira tried to smile at Maeda.
"Oh, I don't believe you two met," Maeda smiled, "This is Yuki, my girlfriend."
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH," Akira screamed internally.
"T-that's nice, nice to meet you," Akira smiled weakly.
Yuki smiled back at Akira, "Nice to meet you Akira-tan."
"There's an evil aura coming from her," Ayame said, snapping a photo of the scene and sending it to Ritsu.
"Well let's get going shall we?" Maeda said, "There's a restaurant I want to show you guys."
Maeda turned and after he walked out of earshot, Yuki pulled herself to Akira's ear and whispered, "Don't try anything, slut."
"Are you two okay?" Maeda said, turning around.
"Ohohoho, yes we are," Yuki said, "Just some introductions."
And with that, the three set off towards the restaurant.
"Akira looks traumatised," Sachi noted.
"Yeah, that bitch whispered something into her ear," Ayame agreed, "Let's follow her."
"Ooh that's sad," Ritsu giggled at the photo Ayame sent her, "Turns out that Maeda guy already has a girlfriend."
"Lemme see," Yui said, pulling Ritsu's phone towards her.
"Tea is ready," Mugi beamed, placing the tea tray on the table.
Yui, Mugi and Ritsu dranked their tea and sighed in relaxation.
"Are we forgetting something?" Yui wondered out loud.
"C-crap the cake!" Ritsu said, "Tea can wait, let's get the ingredients!"
A few minutes later...
"Alright first, crack the eggs," Mugi instructed as she poured out flour into a tin bowl.
"Roger," Yui said, grabbing the bowl Mio used to contain eggs. Giving this particular job to Yui was not a good idea however, because soon after Yui slipped on a wet spot on the floor and fell down, the eggs crashing down with her.
"Oh shit! The eggs!" Ritsu cried out, crestfallen.
"What about me…" Yui whined, still on the floor.
"Oh yeah Yui too," Ritsu said, "I'll go get the eggs."
After Ritsu returned from the supermarket, the three continued their work.
"What flavour does your brother like?" Yui asked, bringing out different bags of chocolate and vanilla and others.
"Uh," Ritsu muttered, "I think he likes chocola- no vanilla..? No. Wait, what does he like?"
"You don't know your sibling's preferences?" Yui stared at Ritsu in disbelief.
"Nutty-chocolate," Mugi said, "Mio-chan texted me earlier."
Ritsu laughed slyly as the three got to work.
Mio and Azusa paid for their admission and went into the museum. "Woah," Azusa said, "This place is huge!"
"It is, isn't it," Mio smiled as she looked at her map, "If I'm not wrong the music exhibition should be north-west from where we are."
The bassist and guitarist headed over to what appeared to be a long line of people clad in shirts of their favourite bands or singers.
And after a long wait, the senpai-kouhai duo went into the exhibition.
There were signs hanging from the ceiling, each directing at a different part of the exhibition.
"Do you want to see the guitar section first Azusa?" Mio asked.
"Can we?" Azusa replied, turning to face Mio with here eyes widened.
Mio laughed, "I'm not your mother Azusa, we are free to go where we want today."
Azusa blushed a deep red and said, "O-of course! Y-yeah we're here by ourselves."
Mio smiled at her kouhai and they entered the guitar section. The girls laid their eyes upon one of the oldest guitars ever made.
"Looks like a peanut doesn't it?" Mio wondered aloud, to which Azusa chuckled.
"Still has five strings," Azusa said, "I wonder how it sounds like."
The duo then moved forward, eventually reaching a glass casing containing a "Gibson Pre-'08 Les Paul Standard in Heritage Cherry Sunburst", or as Yui calls it, "Gitah".
"It's fortunate we didn't bring Yui-senpai," Azusa huffed, "She might think this was actually Gitah and try to break the glass."
"Hey that's mean," Mio giggled, "Shall we move on?"
Azusa blushed again before nodding.
Maeda, Yuki and Akira went to watch a movie, settling in a theatre to watch a romance movie (that Yuki specifically selected).
"Why do we have to follow them here?" Sachi asked, munching on popcorn.
"Because this whole date thing is interesting as fuck," Ayame grinned, "Plus I wanted to watch this movie."
The movie however wasn't what Ayame was watching the whole time, instead Ayame was watching Yuki's mannerisms.
She was sitting in between Maeda and Akira, hogging the popcorn to Maeda and herself. And predictably enough, Yuki was all over Maeda too.
"Isn't this movie romantic babe?" Yuki said, planting a kiss on Maeda's cheek.
"I-I have to go to the bathroom real quick," Akira said suddenly, getting up from her seat
Ayame and Sachi followed behind the guitarist.
In the bathroom, Ayame and Sachi saw Akira crying her eyes out.
"Why didn't I think of the possibility he had a fucking girlfriend?" Akira bawled.
At this point Ayame felt a little sorry for Akira, walking up to her and saying, "Hey there Akira, it's okay, it's not your fault things turned out this way."
Upon hearing Ayame's voice, Akira swung around, "Ayame?! What the hell are you doing hear?!"
Ayame shrieked, Akira's tears washed her eye shadow away, making Akira look like she was crying black tears.
"Just curious," Ayame muttered.
"What is with my luck?!" Akira cried as Sachi came out to hug her.
"There, there Akira," Sachi soothed, "It's not your fault that Yuki girl turned out to be a grade A bitch."
Ayame glared at Sachi, "Akira's sad that there even is a girl. There, there it's all right. Let's go home hmm?"
"Not yet," Akira muttered, "I have to get back to them or he'll notice something's wrong."
Sachi and Ayame waved goodbye to Akira as she went back to the theatre.
Sachi and Ayame then boarded a bus back to the campus.
"Are we forgetting something?" Sachi wondered aloud.
"Shit WE were watching the movie!" Ayame facepalmed.
"I think you can manage from here," Mugi said to Ritsu and Yui, "I'll get the icing from the supermarket so give me a sec."
"Yes ma'am!" Yui said, as she and Ritsu placed the cake into the oven.
"This is easier than I thought," Ritsu yawned, "Wanna play some Smash?"
"I was just thinking that!" Yui said as they left the oven.
"That was fun!" Azusa beamed as she and Mio walked out of the Museum.
"It certainly was," Mio said, "Looks like we have some time, let's watch the band performance next to the museum, it's ending in about six minutes."
"Oh, let's go!" Azusa said excitedly pulling Mio's arm and rushing towards the stage nearby.
"ARE YOU READY FOR THE FINALE?!" a loud voice boomed. The crowd cheered energetically as the band started playing loudly and the lead singer yelled into the microphone.
"Heavy metal?" Azusa said astonished. Azusa turned to face Mio, who was no where to be seen.
Azusa looked around her before realising Mio was squatting and clutching Azusa by the leg.
"So loud," Mio muttered, her body trembling. The sudden burst of heavy metal had shocked Mio badly.
"Mio-senpai!" Azusa said, squatting down with Mio, "It's okay! Umm…"
Azusa covered Mio with her hoodie and hugged her, patting Mio's back.
They remained like that until the song finished. The lead singer screamed into the mic once more, "GOODNIGHT YOU LITTLE SHITS!"
Once Mio got over her panic attack, they got up and were strolling out of the museum when…
"Hey Mio-chan!"
Mio turned around and came face to face with a woman clad in face paint, or one of the members from the death metal band.
After Mio calmed down she realised the woman was Nagako, her landlord and bassist of Death Devil.
"Nagako-san?" Mio said, "You were performing?"
"Yeah actually," Nagako smiled, "Old Sawako was feeling a bit depressed lately so we asked her to come with us to this music event the museum is hosting. Looks like we still got it eh?"
"Sawako-sensei is here?" Azusa asked.
Nagako nodded and turned around to call for Sawako.
Sawako came up to the three and upon notching Mio and Azusa, hugged them.
"Oh, it's great to see you," Sawako grinned, "This outing keeps getting better."
"Hi Sawako-sensei," the bassist and guitarist greeted.
"What's with your whole depression thing Sensei?" Azusa asked.
"Oh that? It's nothing," Sawako said sheepishly.
Nagako cleared her throat, "Her school's light music club is disbanding, she's running short on cash and she got a notice of eviction."
"WHAT?!" Mio and Azusa cried in shock.
Sawako sighed, "The light music club at Sakuragaoka High isn't doing well, Sumire-chan and Nao-chan couldn't get the members and well we're disbanding."
"Oh," Azusa and Mio said.
"Was there nothing they could do?" Azusa asked hopefully.
Sawako shook her head, "Well, there has to be four members and we just couldn't achieve that."
Azusa looked down while Mio spoke up, "What about the money issue?"
Sawako laughed, "My salary isn't the greatest already and my apartment increased the amount of rent I had to pay. I tried everything, saving, cutting costs everything, but yeah didn't work out. I'm losing my house haha."
Azusa and Mio looked aghast. They were used to a carefree Sawako, and seeing her like this made them feel saddened.
"Don't fret girls!" Nagako said, "Sawako will resolve this eventually. Well probably not the music club thing but hey, she's crashing with me at the moment until she figures shit out."
"We're neighbours now yay," Sawako said to Mio, trying to lighten the mood.
Mio grasped Sawako's hands and said, "Sawako-sensei, remember if there's anything you need, just ask us, we're adults now, we'll be happy to help."
Sawako snapped, "As far as I'm concerned you guys are still kids! Don't waste your time on me!"
Sawako paused then apologised, "Sorry, I just, I'm really going through some shit right now, so thanks for the offer Mio-chan. See ya."
After Azusa and Mio left the museum. Both were silent.
"Hey brighten up Mio-senpai," Azusa said, clutching Mio's arm, "Sensei is slowly getting herself back together!"
Mio smiled, "Thanks Azusa. Hey, do you want to contact your old band members at Sakuragaoka High?"
Azusa nodded, "Yeah, I'll have to check in with them."
After they reached the bus stop before their college, Mio said goodbye to Azusa.
"See you tomorrow," Mio smiled, "I really enjoyed our outing."
Azusa blushed and replied, "M-me too!"
The bus took off and halted at the college bus stop.
"Goodbye senpai!" Azusa grinned at Mio.
"Bye!" Mio replied as Azusa alighted.
"That was the most one to one time I had with Mio-senpai," Azusa thought, "What was Ritsu-senpai talking about, Mio-senpai isn't boring at all! She's like an older sister!"
"That Azusa," Mio thought to herself, "She's just like a little sister, no wonder Yui is so fond of her."
Mio reached the bus stop at her house and got off. As she reached the gate, she saw Mugi fumbling through her bag.
"Mugi," Mio said, "You guys aren't done yet?"
"Oh Mio-chan, good timing," Mugi sighed in relief, "I think I left the key card in the apartment."
"No problem," Mio said, swiping her key card.
"How was the outing with Azusa-chan?" Mugi asked as they stepped into the elevator
"Great," Mio said, "We met Sawako-sensei and…"
After the lift door opened the keyboardist and bassist went to latter's apartment door.
"That's terrible," Mugi gasped, "I hope she gets back on her feet."
"She's slowly doing that," Mio said, "She moved in downstairs with Nagako-san too."
"I see," Mugi said.
After entering the apartment, they we greeted with the smell of burnt cake, and the sight of Yui and Ritsu standing in front of said cake sheepishly.
Ritsu chuckled lightly, "So, we kinda let the oven do it's thing for a bit too-"
*BONK*
Ritsu was smacked, and not by Mio this time. Yui also got her share of physical damage.
"Mugi-chan have mercy on us!" Yui bowed down to Mugi. Ritsu was in a state of pure shock while Mio simply laughed.
"We spent way too long on that cake," Mugi sighed, looking at the burnt cake pitifully.
"Sorry Mugi," Ritsu apologised profusely, "I'll clean it up."
Mio giggled once more, "Once you're done, head to the living room, I'll prepare some tea."
After Ritsu finished cleaning up. Mio told the other two about her day and Sawako's troubles.
"That's really terrible," Yui cried, "Sawa-chan doesn't deserve this!"
"She is recovering though right?" Ritsu asked.
"Yeah," Mio replied, "she moved in with Nagako-san downstairs."
"Oh cool we're neighbours now," Ritsu remarked, "Let's get her treat sometime."
"I hoped you had fun with Azunyan," Yui widened her eyes curiously and Mio.
Mio pet the guitarist's head, "Of course."
"Ah, here's to Sawa-chan!" Ritsu raised her teacup. The other three clinked their teacups together with Ritsu's and drank.
"Hey Ricchan," Mugi asked, "If the cake is ruined, what will you do about your brothers 'special' gift?"
Ritsu choked on her tea.
The drummer facepalmed, "Shit."
Akira walked back to campus, encountering Yui and Mugi on the way, before heading to the cafeteria.
She could not forget what happened earlier.
Flashback
"Alright see you next time Akira-chan," Maeda smiled.
"Bye," Akira replied weakly.
"Ohhh Akira-taaannn," Yuki said in a annoying girly voice, before hugging the guitarist.
"He's mine," Yuki whispered into Akira's ear before letting go of the girl, "See ya, bestie!"
Yuki pranced back to Maeda, with light reflecting off something shiny in Yuki's pocket into Akira's eyes. Akira blinked. And suddenly, Akira's back felt wet.
End of Flashback
Akira slammed her dorm door shut as she took off her dress. Akira held her dress in her hands, and became horrified upon seeing a dark red spot on her black dress.
Akira went to her toilet and turned her back to the mirror. Right underneath her bra was a small cut that was dripping blood.
Akira put her hand over her mouth in shock, grabbing toilet paper to block the wound.
"She's fucking crazy," Akira thought as silent tears rolled down her cheek.
"He's mine."
"He's mine."
"He's mine."
